Burns Edsel "Peanut" Day
Burns Edsel "Peanut" Day, 80, Santa Monica, California, died Saturday, April 21, 2001 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Sunbury on May 31, 1920 to the late Burnie and Hallie O. (Piper) Day.
Day, a resident of California for 55 years, was a retired aircraft mechanic for Boeing. He was a member of Sparrow Lodge No. 400 F & AM.
He is survived by a son, Burns E. Day Jr; a daughter, Hallie M. Day; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Day was preceded in death by Louise, his loving wife of 51 years.
Visitation and Masonic Services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.Graveside services for Edsel and Louise followed at Sunbury Memorial Park.

Harold C. Day
Harold C. Day, 89, Centerburg, died Tuesday (December 25, 2001) at Heartland of Centerburg. He was a lifelong resident of the Centerburg area and a member and councilman of the Centerburg Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Beatrice M. Day.
Day is survived by his daughters, Aileen (Wayne) Johnston of Westerville and Ruth (Fred) Tucker of Liberty, Missouri; his son, Neil (Mary) Day of Blacklick; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his sister, Pauline (Bernard) Cring of Milan; and his brother, Gerald (Betty) Day of Fresno, California.
Visitation was at Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg. Services were held at the Centerburg Church of God with Pastor Jonathan Mitchell officiating.
Interment was in Eastview Cemetery.

Burt O. Debolt
Burt O. "Casey" Debolt, 87, Galena, died Tuesday (March 2, 1999) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Knox County to the late Hayes L. and Dicie (Lewis) Debolt.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, he received the European African Middle Eastern Service medal with five bronze service stars. He moved to Galena in 1919 from Columbus. He worked as a mechanic for the former Fort Hayes, Columbus. He retired in 1976 from the Ohio State Highway Garage, Delaware.
He was a member, former trustee and member of the choir at Galena United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the former Genoa Conservation Club, the 50/50 Club and J.O.Y. Seniors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laurabelle (Rowland), whom he married on Dec. 24, 1954; one sister, Nellie Longshore, Gainsville, Ga.; nieces and nephews, David and Karen Debolt, Galena, Jane and Paul Jackson, Galena, and Norma and John Bowmar, Gainsville, Ga.; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Debolt on May 19, 1991; and an infant sister, DeEtta Debolt.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Stacy Evans officiating. Interment followed in Galena Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 457.
Memorial contributions may be made to Galena UMC.

Lucille Deets
Lucille V. Deets, 76 of Sunbury and formerly of Byron, Ill., died Saturday (March 6, 1999) at St. Ann's Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1922 in Morrison, Ill. to the late Henry and Maude Sprankle. She moved to Sunbury in Sept. of 1998 after spending 30 years in Byron. She was a homemaker and had helped operate the family farm. She was a member of the Mt. Morris, Ill. Moose Lodge.
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Stanley Deets; two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Deets of Sunbury and Lenny Deets of Hayward, Cal.; grandchildren Karmin and Kelsey Deets of Sunbury.
Preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Krien.
Visitation and funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, with burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Ill.

Stanley C. Deets
Stanley C. Deets, 79, Sunbury, formerly of Byron, Ill., died Friday (April 28, 2000) at the Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center, Columbus.
He was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Carroll County, Ill., to the late Joseph B. and Lizzie (Cornelius) Deets. Mr. Deets lived in Byron, Ill., for 30 years before moving to Sunbury in 1998 to be near his son.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A lifelong farmer, he retired after 20 years from the Ogle County, Ill., Highway Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was a member of the Mount Morris, Ill., Moose Lodge.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Donna Deets, Sunbury, and Lenny Deets, Hayward, Calif.; two brothers, Elmer and Merv Deets, Sterling, Ill.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lucille V. (Sprankle) Deets, on March 6, 1999; an infant daughter; and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, Ill. Arrangements are being handled by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Nancy Deinzer
Nancy K. (Van Schoyck) Deinzer, 54, of Columbus, died Friday (February 9, 2001) at her residence.
Born in Columbus to the late John Thomas "Tom" Van Schoyck and Ethel (Allen) Van Schoyck of Sunbury, she was employed at Rally's at Hudson and High Street for 11 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Michael (Ginnie) of Columbus and James (Manon) of Johnstown; two sisters, Debra Jo (Fred) Gerber of Mount Vernon and Sharon Garner of Lewis Center; eight nieces and nephews, Angellyne (Matt) Manley, Christine Garner, Katelyn and Colton Gerber, Fallon Van Schoyck, Tera Hutson, Vickie Finley and Tom Van Schoyck; and special friend Ellen Geverts.
Visitation was held at the chapel of Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated with Father James Walter. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, and arrangements were in care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

James Dell
James C. "Chris" Dell, 37, of Wilsonville, Ore., died Saturday (Jan. 23, 1999) at his home in Oregon.
Arrangements were with the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Edna DeLong
Edna Mae DeLong, 47, of Sunbury, died at home Saturday evening (August 3, 2002).
She was born in Delaware County on August 27, 1954, to the late Robert Wheeland and Phyllis Rowlands Wheeland, who survives in Sunbury. A graduate of Buckeye Valley High School's Class of 1971, she moved to Sunbury 16 years ago from Marengo. She worked as an environmental safety technician for American Showa, and enjoyed collecting chickens. She was a member of Gilead Apostolic Church, and loved God and her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Danny DeLong; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Elizabeth Dowalter of Mt. Gilead and Eddie Dowalter of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Michael, Hannah, Tari, and Jonny; a sister and brother-in-law, Winnie and James Parks of Prestonburg, Ky.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kristy Wheeland Jr. of Haskell, Okla.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with Pastor Anthony Trapani officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware 43015.

James A. Denton
James A. Denton, 69, died Thursday (April 9, 1998) at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was a former resident of Sunbury, Delaware, and Columbus.
Mr. Denton attended Sunbury schools and graduated from Delaware Willis High School in 1946. He was a United States Navy veteran.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Clara Denton; daughters Cindy Fulton-Tinawi and Linda Collins; former wife Martha Denton; grandchildren Brian and Andy Denton and Nathan Fulton; sisters Barbara L. Johnson of Sunbury and Charlotte M. Grace of Columbus; many cousins, including the Bruce and Judy Denton family of Galena and the Denny and Sara Morris family of Galena.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Corinthia Denton, and a brother, Robert Denton Jr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Barbara H. "Bobbi" Detrick
Barbara H. "Bobbi" Detrick, 88, of Prospect, formerly of Harlem Township, died Tuesday (Jan. 20, 1998) at Marion Manor Nursing Home in Marion.
She was born on Sept 27, 1909, in Buffalo Gap, S.D. to the late Jack P. and Rose (Chatfield) Agler, the oldest of six children. She spent most of her life in Harlem Township, and graduated with the Harlem School class of 1927.
She was a retired clerk for the state of Ohio. She formerly attended New Hope United Methodist Church, and was a member of Prospect Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Detrick was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Albert, in 1978; by sisters Martha Edwards and Mary Spitzer; and by a brother, Hamer Agler.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, William and Patricia Agler of Prospect; a sister, Eula Gene Radekin of Placerville, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Agler of Galena; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, at the intersection of routes 3 and 61. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fancher Cemetery, Westerville, with the Rev. Stacy Evans officiating.
