Ethel H. Duncan
Ethel H. Duncan, 83, Sparta, died unexpectedly Thursday (January 27, 2000) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Aug. 29, 1916 to the late Clyde and Anna Pearl (Hovey) Hendrickson.
Mrs. Duncan was a homemaker and a resident of Sparta since 1954. She was a member of Mount Liberty Advocate Christian Church.
She loved her family and grandchildren, and was well known for her pies (especially cherry). She was also a sports enthusiast.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Linda, Mount Vernon, and Keith and Judy and Ernie and Diana, all Sparta; a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Howard Pontius, Sparta; three brothers Ralph Hendrickson, Crawfordsville, Ind., Russell Hendrickson, Centerburg, and Allen Hendrickson, Bandera, Texas; two sisters, Virgina Steele, Lolow, Minn., and Betty Matson, West Virginia; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren
In 1992, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Otho Duncan. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Carl Hankins officiating. Interment followed in Bloomield Cemtery.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 11040 Delaware Road, Mount Vernon 43050.

John Dye
John E. Dye, 85, of Marengo, died Sunday morning (Sept. 17, 2000) at Marion General Hospital.
Born July 5, 1915, to the late Archie E. and Edna (Hinderlong) Dye, he was a farmer and an avid sheep raiser. He attended Alum Creek Friends Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Leona Curnutte.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Cring, whom he married in Centerburg on Aug. 17, 1939; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Garth Fishero of Westerville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, J. David and Judy Dye and Jim and Susie Dye, all of Cardington, and Paul Andrew Dye of Marengo; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Bob Hinderlong of Delaware.
Visitation was held at Gompf Funeral Home, Cardington. Funeral services were held at Alum Creek Friends Church with the Rev. Anthony Watson officiating. Burial was in Alum Creek Friends Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, Morrow County Camp, P.O. Box 204, Mt. Gilead 43338.

Betty A. Eames
Betty A. Eames, 83, Sunbury, died Saturday afternoon (July 28, 2001) at Edgewood Manor of Westerville.
She was born in Akron on January 1, 1918 to the late James and Evelyn (Hoernschemeyer) Kloth. She grew up in Glendale and had lived in the Sunbury area for 12 years after moving here from Plano, Texas.
Eames was a member of the Piecekeepers Quilting Club and enjoyed bird watching.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Fred M. Eames, whom she married on August 12, 1948 in Glendale; a son, Marshall (Angeles) Eames of Chicago; a daughter, Leslie (David) Wolford of Sunbury; six grandchildren, Luisa, Briana and Anthony Eames and Jennifer, Jessica and Jacqueline Wolford; and by two brothers, James Kloth of Glendale and Thomas Kloth of Cincinnati.
Eames was preceded in death by three brothers, Dick, Jack and Bob; and one sister, Jane Ann Pence.
Memorial services and interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Rita's School for the Deaf, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Bessie Edwards
Bessie M. Edwards, 101, Marengo, died Wednesday (June 14, 2000) at Woodside Village Care, Mt. Gilead.
She was born in Delaware County on July 2, 1898, to the late Riley and Elma (Perfect) DeWitt. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Delaware and Morrow counties. She worked for the former Kilgore Company during World War II. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and watching horse races.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jan Edwards of Marengo and Darwin Edwards of Columbus; grandchildren Rick Edwards of Marengo and Dale and Brenda Edwards of Bucyrus; great-grandchildren Cody and Katelyn; and several nephews and nieces, including her special niece, Mrs. Harriet Harmon of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dean R. Edwards, on September 9, 1973; her brother John DeWitt, and her sister, Esther Boudinot.
Graveside services were held at the Marengo Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo.

Edgar Edwards
Edgar Robert "Bob" Edwards, 66, of Troy Township, Delaware, passed away suddenly on Sunday (September 30, 2001) at the Grady Memorial Hospital ER.
The chairman and CEO of W.E. Monks Co. Engineers was born on March 23, 1935, in George's Run to Edgar E. and Hazel I. (Weaver) Edwards. A 1953 graduate of Columbus East High School, he was a retired Major of the Ohio Air National Guard Reserve, and he served two active duty tours in France and Korea. He was a member of Christian Community Church in Ashley, the American Council of Consulting Engineers, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and a life member of the Reserve Officers Association.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce L. (Sahr) Edwards; two sons, Robert T. Edwards of Logan and Russell T. Edwards of Delaware; a daughter, Lorri L. Welsh of Cheyenne, Wy.; three brothers, Tom W. Edwards of Canal Winchester, Nathan W. Edwards of Delaware, and Roger G. Edwards of Sunbury; a sister, Joy E. Kraner of Cheyenne, Wy.; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Hannah, Jacob, Calvin, Jacquelyn, Kyle, and Natalie; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Robinson Funeral Home, Delaware, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Jeff Copley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartbeat of Morrow County Crisis Pregnancy Center, c/o Christian Community Church, 2399 E. Ohio 229, Ashley 43003.

James D. Edwards
James Douglas Edwards, 56, Mount Vernon, died unexpectedly Monday (Jan. 4, 1999) at his home.
He was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Galena to the late Donald D. and Thelma (Kellner) Edwards. He moved to Mount Vernon 10 years ago from the Sunbury area. He was a member of Big Walnut High School Class of 1961 and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as a maintenance worker from Kline Hydraulics, Columbus. He was an avid deer hunter.
Mr. Edwards is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Michael Williams, Etna, and Sheri and Jeff Crocker, Sunbury; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard Dean and Jan Edwards Cody, Wyo.; and three grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah and Heather Crocker. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Edwards.
Calling hours and funeral services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Graveside committal services with military honors were held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.

Kalenani Edwards
Kalenani Lynn Edwards, 5-day-old infant daughter of John B. and Tracy L. (Brady) Edwards Jr. of Sunbury, died Thursday (August 1, 2002) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Along with her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Samantha and Nicole Edwards; her grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Hoaeae and John and Sandy Edwards Sr. of Sunbury, Ken and Karen Milburn of Marysville, and Lloyd Brady of Springfield; great-grandmothers Flora Davis of Sunbury and Ruby Pitts of Richwood; seven aunts; four uncles; numerous cousins; and a large and loving family and many friends.
Graveside services were held at Sunbury Memorial Park. Arrangements were in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside/Grant Hospital NICU, 3535 Olentangy River Road, Columbus 43214.

Kathryn Louise Edwards
Kathryn Louise Edwards, 87, of Centerburg, died Tuesday (June 30, 1998) at Heartland of Centerburg.
She was born July 4, 1910, in Franklin County to the late Bert and Emma (Fleming) Walker.
Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker; a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Centerburg; a volunteer with Inter-Church Social Services; and a 1928 graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest L. Edwards; a daughter, Marilyn Abbott; her sisters, Thelma Ashbrook and Emma Jean Drumm; and a brother, Claude Walker.
She is survived by her grandson Ronald Abbott, of Centerburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were at Crouse-Kauber Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Johnstown, where services were held with the Rev. Martha Fisher officiating.

Kenneth Edwards
Kenneth O. "Kenny" Edwards, 86, Center Village, passed away on Saturday (November 9, 2002) at home.
He was born on November 29, 1915, near Center Village to the late Renzo and Mae (McElwee) Edwards. A graduate of Harlem High School and a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, he retired as an engineer from Ranco after 48 years.
Edwards was a member of Church of the Resurrection and the church's Young at Heart group. A 32nd-degree Mason, he was a 50-year member of Sparrow Lodge 400 F&AM, Shrine Valley of Columbus, past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star 287 in Worthington and the Harlem Boys Breakfast Club. He enjoyed fishing and boating.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice Parady Edwards; a brother, Henry Blain in 1977; and two sisters, Velma Sheets and Mary Blain.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Pat A. (Lance) Edwards; his children and their spouses, Jerry and Sue Edwards of Canal Winchester, Philip D. Jones of Center Village, and Lillian K. and Terry Gease of Holiday, Florida; seven grandchildren and spouses, Staci and Mark Howard, Wade and Heather Edwards, Chad and Michelle Edwards, Jennifer Lambert, Michael Jones, Ronnie Myers and Michelle Myers; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jaren and Jacob Howard, Isabelle, Benedict, Briana and Jesse Edwards, and Alexis Lambert; a sister, Marveline Wilson of Gainesville, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Elogene Blain of Center Village.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Church of the Resurrection, New Albany, with Monsignor Colby Grimes celebrant.
Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Resurrection building fund.

Betty (Besch) Eley
Betty (Besch) Eley, 74, of Centerburg, died on Sunday (Jan. 18, 1998) at her residence.
She retired from the Nestles Company in Sunbury, and was a member of Centerburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John F. Eley of the home; two step-sons and their wives, Larry and Vikki Eley of Mount Vernon and Ken and Terri Eley of St. Louisville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Odgen Besch of Centerburg and Lewis Besch Jr. of Oklawaha, Fla.; one sister, Mary Harris of Sparta, Ohio; 12 nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home in Centerburg. Funeral services were held at Centerburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Cole officiating. Interment was in Eastview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Centerburg United Methodist Church or Hospice of Knox County, 302 East High Street, Mt. Vernon 43050.
