Paula Garee
Paula J. Garee, 54, Sunbury, died Monday afternoon (April 8, 2002) at Northview Nursing Center, Johnstown, following an extended illness.
Paula was born on July 10, 1947, in Columbus and was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Northridge High School. She worked 28 years as a LPN for Doctor's Hospital. Paula was a member of New Bethel Christian Union Church, Croton. She loved to read as well as travel.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Sherman Garee of Sunbury; a brother and sister-in-law, John M. and Gloria Garee of Croton; by nephews Brent, Brad and Brett; and by several great nieces and nephews as well as by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Paula was preceded in death by her father, Paul Joseph Garee, in 1993.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, and one hour prior to funeral services at New Bethel Christian Union Church, 14144 Bethel Road SW, Croton, with Pastor Jonathon Dotson officiating.
Interment was in Trenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Licking County Hospice, 1435 West Main Street, Suite B, Newark, Ohio 43055.

William Garee
William A. Garee, 73, Sunbury, died Friday evening (Nov. 5, 1999) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Harlem Township on June 19, 1926, to the late Albert and Ethel (McElwee) Garee.
He was retired from the street department with the Village of Sunbury.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty (Barcus) Garee, whom he married Aug. 9, 1947; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Ross and Dawn and Ron Lucas, all of Sunbury; a brother and sister-in-law, Shelly and Esther Garee, Sunbury; two sisters-in-law Betty Garee, Sunbury, and Harriet Garee of Florida; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce William; a daughter, Brenda Lee; and two brothers, Kenneth and Paul.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. L. Wayne Booth officiating. Burial followed in the Trenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Carmel Hospice, 793 W. State St., Columbus 43222-9988.

Barbara J. Garnes
Barbara J. Garnes, 66, of Powell and formerly of Sunbury, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) evening at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born in Newark on Aug. 19, 1934, to the late Leo and Pauline (Lown) Schaller, she was a retired bookkeeper for Mettler Toledo, Worthington. She enjoyed nature, especially bird watching and decorative painting; attended First Baptist Church, Sunbury; and was a member of St. Peter's Singles Again.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Andy, in 1957 and a brother, Jack Schaller.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Neff of Powell and Tom and Julie Neff of Galena; a daughter, Nancy Plante of Westerville; four grandchildren, Shane, Jody, and Jonathon Neff and Ruth Plante; a brother, Don Schaller of Utah; a sister and brother-in-law, Judee and Jim Sheets of Florida; and her companion, Stan Lerner of Columbus.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment was in Berkshire Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Inniswood Garden Society, 940 S. Hempstead Road, Westerville 43081.

Charles Geddis
Charles H. Geddis, 59, Sunbury, died Tuesday (March 16, 1999) at home after a battle with cancer.
He had been employed by Honda of America Mfg. and Ranco Inc. He was a member of Big Walnut High School Class of 1957.
A loving and supportive husband and father, Mr. Geddis is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chad Geddis and Rob and Michelle Geddis; his mother-in-law, Flora Davis; and sisters-in-law and caregivers, Phyllis Hoaeae and Janey Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Royce and Marie (Warner) Geddis; and a sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Bob Holly.
Calling hours were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Stacey Evans officiating. Interment was at Sunbury Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware 43015.

John Geddis
John W. Geddis, 84, West High Street, Mount Gilead, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) in Woodside Village.
He was born in Condit on Sept. 22, 1916, to the late Jesse T. and Essa M. Jacobus Geddis, and has been an area resident since 1939. A saw operator for HPM Corporation in Mount Gilead until his retirement in 1984, he was a member of the Local 1319 IAW and enjoyed breeding and raising Belgian horses.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Elliot Geddis, who passed away on February 15, 1953; a grandson, John A. Price; a great-granddaughter, Dora Ann Koester; a brother, Merle Geddis; and a brother-in-law, John Elliot.
Surviving are his wife, Norma A. Nolze Geddis, whom he married on August 30, 1954; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca S. and Garry Price of Mount Gilead and Mary J. Inskeep of Cedar Key, Florida; a granddaughter and her husband, Angela D. and Scott Koester; two great-granddaughters, Andrea Norris and Jayna Price; a brother, Rolland Geddis of Sunbury; and a sister, Elizabeth Blakely of Johnsville.
Visitation was held at Craven Funeral Home, Mount Gilead, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Carl Shaffer officiating. Interment was in Rivercliff Cemetery, Mount Gilead.

Teri Gemperline
Teri Gemperline, 40, Sunbury, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at St. Ann's Hospital.
She was an account manager for Authorized Data Processing, Columbus. She was a 1978 gradute of Big Walnut High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Whitney Gemperline, Sunbury; her mother, Patricia Jewett, Sunbury; a sister and brother-in-law Debi and Mike Baehr, Blacklick; and a niece and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Jewett.
Calling hours were at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery.

Bernard R. Gersper Sr.
Bernard R. Gersper Sr., 81, Delaware, died Friday (January 12) at the Monroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Fla.
He was born on April 20, 1919 in Columbus to the late Chalmer and Elizabeth Lorey Gersper. He retired in 1982 after working 42 years for Amco as an electrician.
Gersper is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mildred F. "Millie" Cline Gersper, whom he married July 2, 1955; a son, Bernard Jr. of Columbus; daughters, Elizabeth Runyan and Bernice Gersper of Columbus; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Ralph of Columbus, John of Grove City and David of Malta; two sisters, Blanche Hornback and Grace Burkhold of Columbus; and by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, McGuffey, and by brothers, Lewis and Chalmer.
Calling was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 West William Street, Delaware where funeral services were with the Rev. Dirk Elliott officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Earl Gerwig
Earl W. Gerwig, 97, Sunbury, died Friday evening (January 18, 2002) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville, following a brief illness.
He was born on Toms Run near Chapel, West Virginia, on February 6, 1904, to the late Christian L. and Viola (Dennison) Gerwig, and spent most of his life in West Virginia on the Lower Mill Creek and Frametown. He lived in Columbus for 25 years.
After attending Glenville College, he taught all eight grades of school at Frametown (Hope School). He farmed and worked for years as a millwright, electrician, tool-and-die man, jig and fixture man, surveyor, explosives specialist, as the on-the-farm instructor for the World War II Veterans and he cut and sold timber. He worked for North American Aviation and retired from Defense Construction Supply Center in 1978 after 25 years of service.
A member of Hope Church, Frametown, and veteran member of Strange Creek Lodge F&AM, he also attended Linden Baptist Church, Columbus.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dale (Campbell) Gerwig, on November 10, 1997; his sons, Warren K. Gerwig and Christian Earl Gerwig; and a grandson, Doug Gerwig.
Surviving are his sons, Leland H. Gerwig of Long Beach, California, and Brian D. Gerwig of Sunbury; five grandchildren, Christy Young, Lisa Slyman, Brad Gerwig, Todd Gerwig and Melody Snow; his great-grandchildren, Nick and Grace Slyman, Joe and Ashlee Slyman, Tracy Loucks, Joanne Jacobson and Holly Kornegay; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Richard Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, West Virginia, with Pastor Mark Gerwig officiating. Interment was in Frederick Gerwig Memorial Cemetery on Toms Run.
Local arrangements are in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 39 West Winter Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015.

Marie Glenn
Marie Glenn, 86, of Sunbury, died Friday morning (June 18, 1999) at her residence.
She was born in Johnson County, Ky., on May 27, 1913, to the late Ollie and Mary Ellen (Cheek) Cantrell. She was a member of the Sunbury Wesleyan Church and enjoyed quilting and babysitting children.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, R. Roger and Beatrice of Gastonia, N.C, the Rev. Don and Ann of Marion, Ind., and Nel and Linda of Sunbury; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Virginia Cantrell of Columbus and Raymond and Phyllis Cantrell of Hopesound, Fla.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Irene and Charles Love and Flora Hubbell, all of Sunbury, and Ernestine and George Jaeckel of Los Altos, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Glenn, on Aug. 7, 1990, and five brothers, Ora, Ersell, Estill, Wayne and Burl.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, where services were held with the Rev. Gerald Davis officiating. Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunbury Wesleyan Church.

Sandra Jo Gibson
Sandra Jo Gibson, 41, Richwood, died Sunday morning at the Memorial Hospital in Marysville. She has been fighting a brave battle with her illness for the last 11 years.
She was born August 29, 1959 in Marion to Herman and Helen (Jackson) Feasel. Her mother survives in Magnetic Springs.
On July 8, 1978 at the Pharisburg United Methodist Church, she married Calvin Gibson and he survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Angela Gibson, and two sons, Christopher and Bobby Gibson, all of Richwood; one brother, Mike Feasel of Richwood; her mother and father-in-law, Clifford and Starling Gibson of Richwood; aunts and uncles; many cousins; and a special friend, Reverend Donna Morley.
Gibson was a member of the Pharisburg United Methodist Church, had worked at the Gooseberry Patch and Buehler's Food Market in Delaware; and had worked for the child support services in Union County.
She was active with the "Canine Kids" 4-H Club, she helped train pilot dogs, was an explorer with the Boy Scouts, she and her husband maintained records at the Claibourne Cemetery, and she was active in the Richwood Baseball for Boys.
Funeral services were held at the Pharisburg UMC with the Reverend Debbie Nance and the Reverend Donna Morley officiating. Visitation was at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Burial was in Broadway Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Stofcheck Funeral Home, P.O. Box 122, Richwood, Ohio 43344.
