Joseph Griffith
Joseph G. Griffith, 72, of Centrum at Willowbrook in Delaware and formerly of Sunbury, died unexpectedly on Thursday (Sept. 14, 2000) in the emergency room of Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Galena on Dec. 31, 1927, to the late Earl Gordon and Mary Elizabeth (Nelson) Griffith. A lifelong area resident, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Sunbury. An avid reader, he was very mechanically inclined and had a tremendous capacity for remembering facts.
Surviving are three brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl B. and Betty Griffith of Sunbury, Floyd and Ginny Griffith of Columbus, and William and Joan Griffith of Pataskala; a sister, Olive A. Griffith of Westerville; four nieces and husbands, Kathlee and Tim Moats, Cynthia and Tim Crouch, Diana and Bruce Nixon, and Velda and Mike Wise; and seven nephews and wives, Daniel and Rita, Kevin and Rebecca, Clinton, Paul and Rhonda, Richard and Marsha, John, and William and Cindy Griffith.
The family would like to thank the kind, caring staff at Willowbrook and special friend Elizabeth Ellis.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Synder Funeral Home, Sunbury, prior to the funeral services officiated by the Rev. Larry Griffin. Burial was in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centrum at Willowbrook, 100 Willowbrook Way S., Delaware 43015 or to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 394, Sunbury 43074.

Lavinia M. Griffith
Lavinia M. Griffith, 86, of Galena, died Wednesday morning (April 15, 1998) at her home.
She was born in Berlin Township on Dec. 6, 1911, to the late Eber and Edna (Snyder) Sherman. She was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. She was a 1930 graduate of Berlin High School, a member of the Galena United Methodist Church, Galena Advance Club, and the G & T Club.
Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald D. Griffith, on Nov. 7, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna May and Glenn Hale of Galena; grandsons Hardy and Howard Hale, and Dan Hale and his wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren Hannah and Noah Hale; brother Ralph A, Sherman of Galena; sister-in-law Hazel Sherman of Galena; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, the Rev. Stacy A. Evans officiating. Interment was in Cheshire Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Galena United Methodist Church, 109 Harrison St., Galena OH 43021; or Community Library, 44 Burrer Drive, P.O. Box 29, Sunbury OH 43074.

Jack W. Groseclose
Jack W. Groseclose, 75, of Galena died Sunday. Oct. 15 at Riverside Hospital. He was owner of Cardinal Travel and Groseclose Insurance in Westerville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Amy (Atwood) Groseclose; sons Michael D. (Carol) of Westerville, C. Dennis (Kathy) of Florida, Jack G. of New Albany and Jeffrey L. (Terrie) of Sunbury; grandchildren Dennis, Chad, Dan, Jennifer, Kim, Eric, Joe, Matt, Laura and Abby; great-grandchildren Cole and Grant; sister Dottie Barrett of Maryland; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A retired Colonel with the U.S. Army, Groseclose received a Bronze Star during World War II. Groseclose was a former principal and coach in the Westerville Schools and a former member of the Big Walnut School Board.
Groseclose was a member of the Harlem Road United Methodist Church in Galena and a member of the Westerville Rotary Club.
He was a graduate of Otterbein College where he was a member of the Varsity "O" Club and a charter member of the Otterbein "O" Club Foundation.
Groseclose was a member of the Caledonia Lodge #416 F & AM, New Albany; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus; and the Aladdin Shrine Temple and Achbar Grotto Club of Columbus.
President of the Columbus District Golf Association, he was a member of the York Golf Club and the D.S.C.C. Golf Club.
Visitation was held at the Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. Funeral services were held at Harlem Road United Methodist Church, Galena, with the Rev. Bud Leskovac officiating. Interment was at Fancher Cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the American Cancer Society, Franklin County Unit, 900 Michigan Avenue, Columbus (43215-1165).

Lisa A. Gross
Lisa A. Gross, 39, Westerville, died Monday, May 21, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Gibson; father Frank Gibson and grandfather Floyd Gibson.
Lisa is survived and deeply missed by her husband of 16 years, Steve Gross; daughters, Melissa and Alexa; brother, Eric (Diane) Gibson of Westerville; grandmother, Alice Gibson; uncles and aunts, Richard and Charlotte Clark, Ruthann and David White, Edward and Sandy Clark, Greg and Sue Gibson, Jeff and Beverly Gibson, Martha Gibson and Evelyn Gibson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Imogene Gross; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy Wisecup, Peggy Gross and Bill Gross; nieces and nephews, Brian Wisecup, Jennifer Searles, Arron Gross, Julie Gross, Randy Gross; and many other relatives and friends.
Lisa was a 1980 graduate of Westerville North High School and a 1984 graduate of Otterbein College. She co-owned Electro-Tenna with her brother Eric.
Lisa enjoyed helping out at her daughters' school (Hanby Elementary) with such activities as Junior Achievement, Book In the Bag and other activities.
Visitation was at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. The funeral service was held at Central College Presbyterian Church, Westerville with the Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating. Interment was in Blendon Central Cemetery.

Kyle A. Grumney
Kyle A. Grumney, the four-day-old son of David and Kelly Grumney of Centerburg, died on Monday (July 27, 1998) of congenital heart failure at Children's Hospital in Columbus.
Kyle was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vernon A. Davis, and maternal grandmother, Francis Henry.
Along with his parents, survivors include his brothers, Michael, Brandon, and Jared of the home; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Davis of Mt. Vernon; his paternal grandparents, Carolyn Grumney of Westerville and Richard Grumney of Florida; his maternal great-grandfathers, Donald Henry and Charles (Nedra) Davis; his paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Sylvia Hartsook of Galena; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. at Mt. Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kyle's memory to First Federal Savings and Loan Association, P.O. Box 278, Centerburg 43011.

Elena Guglielmi
Elena Guglielmi, 77, wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday (September 18, 2001) at Riverside Hospital.
She was a member of S.F.I. Auxiliary.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents, Luigi and Filomena Castionetti, and a stepson, Ralph Guglielmi.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Eugene Guglielmi; four children, Marie (Michael) Jones, Patricia (Martin) Connors, Rita (Gary) Miller and Eugene (Darcy) Guglielmi; a stepdaughter, Marlene (David) Hughes; 17 grandchildren, Brian, Ruth, Erin, Rachael, Joey, LeeAnn, Anthony, Shawn, Frankie, Brittany, Nicholas, Lucy, Lori, Brad, Cindy, Eric and Jason; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carlos Castionetti of Naples, Italy.
Visitation was at the John Quint & Sons Funeral Home, Columbus. Funeral Mass was was held at St. James the Less Catholic Church. Columbus Father Richard Nieberding, Celebrant. Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.

John W. Gunder
John W. Gunder, 80, of Sunbury died on Friday (Jan. 30, 1998) at Morning View Care Center.
He was born in Bellbrook, Ohio, on Aug. 19, 1917 to the late Christian and Hazel (Sailor) Gunder. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Delaware Church of the Nazarene. He was also the past commander of the Disabled Veterans 10th District and Sunbury American Legion Post No. 457, and was the present commander of the Sunbury VFW Post No. 8736.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Charles Specht of Sunbury; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John David Gunder of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kevin and Susan Gunder of Columbus; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Darrell Gunder of Manchester, Ga.; and a sister, Adra Coats of Troy.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. (Gladman) Gunder on Aug. 14, 1997; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation was held Sunday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware, where services were held with the Rev. Kevin Seymour officiating. Interment was in Green Mound Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Church of the Nazarene building fund.

Richard R. Hadden
Richard R. Hadden, 76, of Sunbury, died on Monday afternoon (Jan. 12, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1921 in Columbus to the late Joseph and Ruth (Shannon) Hadden, and was a Sunbury resident for 11 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he worked in the claims department of Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 33 years, attended First Baptist Church in Sunbury, volunteered for PIN of Delaware, and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lurena M. (Sisson) Hadden; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Marsha Hadden of Columbus, Michael and Candy Hadden of Washington Courthouse, and Pat and Barbara Hadden of Richmond, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Colin and Mary Gibbins of Houston, Tx.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury, where services were held on Thursday with the Rev. Larry A. Griffin officiating. Interment will be in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 99 East Cherry Street in Sunbury.

Rex Haddix
Rex E. Haddix, 51, Johnstown, died Thursday afternoon (May 27, 1999) at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Columbus on Dec. 10, 1947, to the late Greenville H. and Thelma (Martin) Haddix Jr.
He was self-employed and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Blackhawks 7th Squadron 1st Air Cavalry, a life member of Sunbury VFW Post No. 8736, the drill team and honor guard and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3614. He attended Living Faith Worship Center, Edison.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Canaday) Haddix, Johnstown; a son, Rex E. Haddix II, Sunbury; two daughters Kimberly and Jessica Haddix, Philadelphia, Pa.; a stepson, Jon Canaday, Johnstown; three stepgranddaughters, Alex-Andrea, Ceva-Jade and Destiny; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Rocky and Mary Haddix, Worthington, Raymond E. and Ann Lordier, New Albany, and Ralph B. Lordier, Tacoma, Wash.; a sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Charles Tilley, Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald, and a sister, Roberta Grace.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with Military honors were provided by Sunbury VFW Post No. 8736.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 2500 Kenny Road, Columbus 43210-9983.

F. Fern Hale
F. Fern Hale, 93, Galena, died Saturday (Feb. 13, 1999) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
She was born May 28, 1905, in Putnam County to the late Frank and Adeline (McClure) Gudakunst.
She was a homemaker and helped with the family farm. She was a member of Vans Valley Community Church, the Ladies Aid Society, the Rural Home Club and the Delaware County Childrens Home Board. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and visiting familiy and friends.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Harland and Doris Hale, Pemberville, Glenn F. and Donna Hale, Galena, and Forrest J. and Marilyn Hale, Galena; and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harold H. Hale, on Oct. 2, 1974; one son, Howard Hale in 1969; two brothers, Glenn and Forrest, Mrs. Hale's twin; and one grandson, Neil Hale.
Friends called at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Revs. Harold Holmes and Gerald Davis officiating. Burial followed in Trenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vans Valley Community Church.
