Frances Harrington
Frances McCormick Harrington, 96, Sunbury, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 2000) at Grady Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born July 17, 1903, to the late Dale and Carrie McCormick. She was born on the family farm near Gallipolis, which the family owned since 1803.
In 1912 the family moved to Sunbury. She graduated in 1921 from high school and from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1925 in the new field of economics. She taught in Portage County for four years. In 1931 she married Dr. John Harrington, who preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church and the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Don Dick, Phoenix; a sister, Esther McCormick, Sunbury; a grandson and granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Sally Van Auken in 1943 and Helen Nincehelser in 1970.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with a memorial service following. The Rev. David Hill officiated.
Alice Harris
Alice E. Harris, 73, of Marengo, died Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) at her residence following a 10- month illness.
She was born in Centerville (Crawford County), Pa., on Oct. 18, 1924, to the late Raymond A. and Anna M. (Southworth) Parker. She was a homemaker and a 10-year resident of Marengo, having lived in Westerville since 1964. She was a member of Marengo United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Harris, and six brothers.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Charles R. Harris; threea sons, Charles, Mark, and Christopher, all of Marengo; a daughter and son-in-law, Emily "Lee" and David Fogle of Wabash, Ind.; two brothers, James of Sevierville, Tenn., and Elmer of Centerville, Pa.; two sisters, Fern Stanford of West Milton and the Rev. Florence Clark of Knox Dale, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held with the Rev. Michael Olinger officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marengo United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Hetty Harroun
Hetty Shultz Harroun, 88, Galena, died Friday evening (September 21, 2001) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was born on January 16, 1913, in Waynesfield to the late Bernard L. and Elsie Bailey Shultz. She was a homemaker, member of Galena United Methodist Church, and area resident since 1921. Hetty served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer for the former Galena Shale Tile and Brick Company.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn W. Harroun in 1979; a brother, John Shultz, in 1982; and a sister, Dorothy Stone, in 1999.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Joan Harroun of Phoenix, Arizona, Larry and Judy Harroun of Estero, Florida, and Darryl Harroun of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and John Stewart of Santa Fe, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Joe, Michael, Cindy, Lynn, Eric, and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Culver of Sunbury and Florence Nash of Sun City, Florida; and her nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with Pastor Sue Antolik officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Anna Hartman
Anna Marie McMannus Hartman, 91, Mansfield, died Friday (April 2, 1999).
She was an insurance agent with Motorists Mutual Insurance for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Roseland Grange, Richland County Pomona Grange and Kacets.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Anne and John Henney, Mansfield, Mary Jane and Robert Schuler, Waynesville, and Ruth and Joe Henney, Galena; 11 grandchildren, Pamela Henney, Patricia and Jeffrey Payton, Debra and Chris Stefan, Timothy Shuler, Magda Wisniewska, James Shuler, Christopher Henney, Diana Shuler, Brian Shuler, Sarah Henney, Michael Henney and Scott Henney; and four sisters and brothers-in-law.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Wappner Funeral Home.
Leo Clare Hartman
Leo Clare Hartman, 94, died Thursday (Dec. 16, 1999) at St. Ann's Hospital after a short illness.
He was born March 31, 1905, in Huron County to the late Joseph and Rachel Hartman. He lived in Mansfield most of his life.
He attended North Fairfield School before working at Shelby Tube and later Westinghouse, retiring in the 1970s. He was also an independent insurance agent with Motorist Mutual Insurance for over 30 years.
He was married to Anna Marie McManus for 62 years. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1999.
For over 50 years, he was a member of Roseland Grange and Richland Count Pomona Grange. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the North Fairfield Lodge of F and AM of Ohio, Mansfield Chapter #28, Mansfield Council #94, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Canto and Mansfield Commandry #28 Knights Templar. He had been a member of the Masons for 70 years.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Anne and John Henney, Mansfield, Mary Jane and Robert Shuler, Waynesville, and Ruth and Joe Henney, Galena, with whom he lived for the past nine months; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings; Samuel, Scott, George, Walter, Tressie, Edna Brown and Clara Cummins Jones.
Calling hours were at Wappner Funeral Home, Mansfield, with the Revs. David Gilbert and Allen Rose officiating. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery.

Betty Lou Hart
Betty Lou Hart, 69, of Delaware, died early Friday (Sept. 29, 2000) at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1930, in Sunbury to the late Edward and Teresa
VanLoon. A graduate of Berlin High School, she moved to Delaware from Sunbury in 1950. She was a homemaker devoted to her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling, country music, and eating meals and visiting with friends at Bob Evans Restaurant. In her younger years, Betty played the guitar.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Don VanLoon, and a daughter, Mildred Marcum.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 50 years, Robert F. Hart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Francis Van and Roberta Kay Hart and Michael and Denise M. Hart, all of Delaware; two daughters and a son-in-law, Georgia Hart-Linstedt of Delaware and Belle and Carl E. Hoffman III of Newark; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Zachary (Kerry), Sara, Devin, Destin, Ajah, Christopher, Kayla, Corey, Carly, and Ashley; a great-granddaughter, Morgan; a brother, Robert VanLoon of Delaware; and a sister, Evonna "Bonnie" Smith of Branford, Fla.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware, where funeral services were held. Interment was in Green Mound Cemetery, Kilbourne.
Thomas Hatfield
Thomas J. "T.J." Hatfield, 63, Galena, went home to be with the Lord on Friday (December 6, 2002).
He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1993, following 34 years of dedicated service. He was born on April 13, 1939, in McCarr, Kentucky, to the late Guy and Lilly (Scott) Hatfield, and was a member of Sunbury Christian Church.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Neva "Jeanne" Pack; two wonderful sons and wives, Jeff and Shellie of Galena and Tommy and Jackie of Sunbury; five grandchildren who were the light of his life, Sidney, Brittany, Brooke, Guy and Sarah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Paris Blackburn of Galena and Janet and J.B. Bowe of Gahanna; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Bev Hatfield of Edgewood, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held at Sunbury Christian Church with Pastor Mike Bratten officiating.
Interment was in Trenton Cemetery.

Frank Hause
Frank W. Hause, 62, of Centerburg, died unexpectedly Saturday (February 3, 2001) at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.
Born on Feb. 25, 1938, in Saline, Michigan, to the late Charles and Leona (Anglemyre) Hause, Frank moved to the Centerburg area 17 years ago from Gallipolis. He also lived in Sunbury for nine years. He was a semi-retired salesman with Brandt and IBM, and was currently working as a clerk for Centerburg Hardware.
A race car fan and accomplished carpenter, he enjoyed fixing and collecting clocks as well as gardening and bird watching. He was a member of Sparrow Lodge No. 400 F&AM and Columbia Chapter No. 33 OES.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Frank, who died in 2000.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Nancy (Morris) Hause; two sons, Charles (Lori) Hause of Westerville and Tom (Cassy) Hause of Centerburg; two granddaughters, Chasity and Caitlyn; a sister, Audrey (Tom) Gilman of Ostrander; a step-sister, Joyce Iler of Rocky River; and a step-brother, John (Joanne) Iler of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where Masonic Services followed at 8 p.m. Memorial services were held also at the funeral home.

Ruthella Haviland
Ruthella F. Haviland, 75, Delaware, retired Delaware County chief deputy auditor, died Wednesday evening (Dec. 1, 1999) at Doctors North Hospital, Columbus.
She was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Sunbury, to Faye (Carpenter) and John Beddow.
She served 30 years as Delaware County chief deputy auditor. She was a lifetime Delaware resident, an active member of Rural Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Idella Fellowship, and a member of the board of trustees of Senior Citizens Inc. and the Big Walnut Alumni Association.
She is survived by her daughter Spring Haviland, Santa Monica, Calif.; sister Wanda Simon, Deltona, Fla.; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; a grandson, Steven; a sister, Florence; and a brother Virgil.
Calling hours were at Bennett Brown Funeral Home, Delaware. Funeral services were held at Rural Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Ham officiating. Burial followed at Berkshire Cemetery.

Carrie Haycook
Carrie B. Haycook, 93, Sunbury, died Thursday (November 14, 2002) at Sunbury Nursing Home.
She was born on February 4, 1904, in Knox County to the late Ernest and Mabel Corwin Tuttle and was a member of Harlem Road United Methodist Church (formerly New Hope United Methodist Church).
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland H. Haycook; three sons; and one daughter.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia and Burton Walker of Sunbury, Jean Neil of Columbus, and Donna and Jerry Seeley of Galena; one sister, Maude Smith of Sunbury; a brother-in-law, Harry Haycook of Center Village; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown. Private family services were held with the Reverend Gerald Davis officiating.
Interment was in Fancher Cemetery.
