Wilma J. "Willie" Hayes
Wilma J. "Willie" Hayes, 67, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died on December 31, 2002.
She was born on May 7, 1935, to Jay and Gladys (Rodgers) Finney in East Liverpool, and moved to Florida from Westerville in 1999. While living in the area, she was active in the Harlem Township Garden Club and several card clubs. Her greatest joys were her family, gardening and playing cards. She was a member of Harlem Road United Methodist Church.
Willie will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years, Robert Hayes; her son, Robert J. Hayes of Columbus; and her daughter, Cindie A. Hayes, also of Columbus.
Private services were held for the family, and arrangements are in the care of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services of Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, Florida, 34238.
Russell Hays
Russell Okey Hays, 60, Marengo, died Thursday (Dec. 16, 1999) in Shelbyville, Ill.
Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo.
Rebecca Heaps
Rebecca Lee Kaufman Heaps, 58, Columbus, died June 18, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born on December 11, 1942, in Marysville to the late Walter and Christine Coleman Kaufman. She graduated from Milford Center High School and Capital University and received a masters degree from Ohio State University.
The majority of her service was spent at Northridge Middle School. She was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Dow Teachers Golden Apple, Licking County Foundation Leader for Learning, Coughlin Teacher of the Year and the Golden Viking award.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Heaps of Sunbury; a daughter, Sharon Heaps of Columbus; a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Avery Shaw of Erie, Pennsylvania; two nephews; and the staff and students of Northridge Local Schools. She was a much loved and respected colleague, teacher and friend.
Visitation was held at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rebecca Heaps Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Huntington National Bank branch.
Ronald Heaton
Ronald D. Heaton, 37, of Sunbury, died unexpectedly on Wednesday (May 10, 2000) in Columbus.
He was born on May 6, 1963, in Columbus. He attended Big Walnut Schools and Delaware County JVS. He traveled the United States extensively as a welder with Pipeline Construction Company, Oregon. He was a hard worker and enjoyed fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his parents, Carolyn and Dan Smith of Sunbury and Ron and Nancy Heaton of Westerville; a grandmother, Louise N. Hedrick of Sunbury; a sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly and Robb Bowling of Sunbury; two step-sisters and brother-in-law Julie and Brad Gray of Westerville and Danielle Gable of Columbus; three step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Janine Taylor of Columbus, John and Cindy Taylor Westerville, Dwayne and Nikki Smith of Sunbury; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dana E. Hedrick and Lora and Paul Heaton.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Kenneth Heaton officiating. Interment was in Trenton Cemetery.

Louise Hedrick
Louise N. Hedrick, 81, of Sunbury, died Friday morning (May 31, 2002) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville, following a brief illness.
She was born in Lancaster to the late Ralph and Ruth (Leatart) Bigham on November 6, 1920, and had lived in the Sunbury area since 1966, having come from Columbus. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, fishing, gardening, and taking care of others.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Hedrick, on December 25, 1989; a daughter, Patricia Hedrick Brunner in March 2002; a grandson, Ronald Heaton in May 2000; and a sister, Virginia Walkup.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dan Smith of Sunbury; grandchildren Kim Bowling, Dwayne Smith, Danielle Gobele, Tricia Allison and Wendy Helber; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held with Pastor Mike Bratten officiating. Interment followed in Trenton Cemetery.

Corwin Heinlen
Corwin Ray Heinlen, 89, of Sunbury, died Saturday (Oct. 28, 2000) at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, after an extended illness.
Born on Jan. 22, 1911, in Delaware County to the late Elton Ray and Carrie (Clark) Heinlen, he resided at the same residence until his illness. He was a lifelong member of Ashley United Methodist Church; a member of the Farm Bureau and Ashley Senior Citizens; and a past member of Kingston Grange.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan; a grandson, Russell Collier; and an infant grandson, Thomas Ray Collier.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Mabel (Eckard) Heinlen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mabel Kathryn and Walter Hoffman of Marengo and Mae and
Huey Collier of Delaware; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Merlin Heinlen of Westerville.
Visitation was held at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, Ashley. Funeral services were held at Ashley United Methodist Church with the Revs. Greg Lewis and Robert Shackelford officiating. Interment was in Greenmound Cemetery.

Wallace Helber
Wallace G. "Wally" Helber, 57, Sunbury, died Friday (April 16, 1999) at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1941, in Columbus to the late L. R. Helber and Regina (Taylor) Helber, Marengo.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He managed the former Children's Palace for 11 years and also worked as assistant manager for Schottenstein Department stores and was retired from General Motors.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bonnie (Meece); four sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Sharon Helber, Grand Junction, Colo., Jamie and Laura Helber, Columbus, Todd and Danielle Helber, Westerville, and Shawn and Shelly Helber, Sunbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Todd Styers, Westerville; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Kurtis, Kayla, Shawna, Nicholas and Shane; and three sisters, Saundra Gall, Westerville, Peggy Reece, Sunbury, and Nancy Au, Texas.
Visitation was and funeral services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Rice officiating.

Fred Helton
Fred H. Helton, 80, of Ashley, died on Sunday (July 14, 2002) at his home.
He was born on April 13, 1922, in Lebanon, Va., to the late George Leaster and Mary Ellen (Hubbard) Helton. A Delaware County resident since 1950, Fred worked for Kinnear Door, formerly of Columbus, and for 20 years at Galena Brick Yard. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae (Ward) Helton, who passed away on January 27, 1990; three brothers, Joe, John, and William "Bill" Helton; a sister, Bertha Price; and a great-grandson, Alexander Helton.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, James L. and Sandy Helton of Ashley and Arnold and Laury Helton of Marengo; a daughter, Elsie Fay Hall of Grethel, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Everett and Ruby Helton of Sunbury, Jessie and Minnie Helton of Sparta, and Claude Helton of Delaware; and two sisters, Blanch Helton of Cedar Bluff, Va., and Elizabeth Hubbard of Sunbury.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held. Burial followed in Kingwood Memorial Park.

Margaret Heninger
Margaret Heninger, 77, formerly of Galena, died Wednesday (Feb. 11, 1998) in the Kenmare Medical Center, N. Dak.
She was born July 18, 1920, in Caplaville, Tenn., to the late William and Maggie Sidle. She grew up and was educated in Pleasantville, Miss. She attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College, Pleasantville.
She married Robert E. Haninger on Sept. 23, 1944, in Pleasantville. He died Sept. 4, 1965, in Galena. While in Galena, she was a member of the Galena United Methodist Church. She moved to Memphis, Tenn., in 1971, where she worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1982. She had lived with her children in North Dakota in recent months because of her health.
Mrs. Heninger was very active in the communities in which she lived. She served as a Scout den leader, PTA member, and was active in various church activities. While in Memphis, she worked with a cancer support group. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and took an active interest in their activities.
She is survived by her son, Kurt of Kenmare; daughter Lorna Francis of Stanley, N. Dak.; six grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Searcy, of Memphis.
Funeral services were held at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare. Private burial services were conducted in the Galena Cemetery by the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
Nellie E. Henry
Nellie E. Henry, 83, of Marengo, died Thursday (April 9, 1998) at Sunny Vee Nursing Home, Delaware.
She was born Jan. 17, 1915 in LaRue to the late Walter and Alice (Manley) Tooley. She was a member of Stantontown Advent Christian Church and had been a resident of the Marengo community since 1948.
Mrs. Henry is survived by her husband, Robert E. Henry; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Louise of Ashley, and John and JoAnn of Columbus; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Virginia Tooley of Columbus; and brother Paul Tooley of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Funeral services were at Bennett-Brown-Rodman Funeral Home in Ashley. Interment was in Stantontown Cemetery.
