Jack L. Hodges
Jack L. Hodges, 77, Galena, died Tuesday morning (February 27, 2001) at OSU Hospital East following an extended illness.
He was born November 7, 1923 in Marion, Ohio, the son of the late Emmett and Daisy Hodges.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a civilian military contractor and had worked at Marion Depot for many years.
Jack was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gahanna, Marion Masonic Lodge #070, American Legion Post #888 and Walnut Valley Boat Club. He was also a HAM radio operator.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Resetar, whom he married on July 8, 1950; a son Dan Hodges of Galena; former daughter-in-law, Jackie Randle of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Andy, Amy and Alex; a brother, Kenneth (Jean) Hodges of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Hodges, on August 30, 2000; and by three brothers, James, Howard and Emmett.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Gahanna with the Pastor Bethany Wallace officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Fancher Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Roselene Gale Hogle
Roselene Gale Hogle, 88, Marengo, died Friday (January 25, 2002) at Morrow County Hospital Extended Care.
She was born in Bennington Township, Morrow County on March 28, 1913, to the late George and Lela (Pipes) Frost.
Roselene was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a 50-year member of Pythian Sisters #501 of Marengo, Morrow County Hospital Golden Twig, Volunteer at Morrow County Hospital for 25 years and church treasurer for 25 years.
She enjoyed bowling and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rodney Gale, who passed away on January 31, 1965, and Leslie Hogle, who died on November 30, 1990.
Roselene is survived by her sons, Richard (Barbara) Gale of Westerville and Robert (Ruth) Gale of Marengo; seven grandchildren, Debbie, Darcy, Darla, Rick, Jackie, Susan and David; 15 great-grandchildren; and by four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo. Funeral services were held at the Marengo United Methodist Church.
Interment followed in the Fulton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marengo United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8 North Main Street, Marengo, Ohio 43344.

Russell B. Hogle
Russell B. Hogle, 89, Marengo, died Tuesday (March 9, 1999) at Morrow County Hospital, Mount Gilead.
He was born July 17, 1909, in Licking County to the late Charles and Lacy (Grandstaff) Hogle.
He was retired from the maintenance department of the Mount Vernon Eastern Star Home. He owned and operated the former Marengo Restaurant and was a life member of the Knights of Pythian. He was a lifelong resident of the Marengo area.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Charles and Carol Hogle, Carroll; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Anne and Robert Gale, Marengo; six grandchildren, Robin and Jeffrey Hogle, Debbie Grandstaff, Darcy Kazee, David Gale and Darla Messmer; nine great-grandchildren, Tanya and Kelsie Hogle, Brandy Barton, Bob Grandstaff, Jennifer Kazee, Tyler and Ryan Gale and Levi and Baylee Messmer; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kayle Kazee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha B. (Coursen) Hogle on Oct. 27, 1990; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo with the Rev. Michael Olinger officiating. Burial followed in Marengo Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Eugena Hoke
Eugena L. "Genie" Hoke, 52, of Cincinnati and formerly of Sunbury, died instantly in a car accident in Cincinnati on Thursday (June 14, 2001).
She was a graduate of the Big Walnut High School Class of 1967 and received degrees in education from Bowling Green State University and the University of Maine. A teacher with the Oakhills School District, Cincinnati, since 1977, she was a volunteer for the Cincinnati City Parks Service, the zoo, and the Arts Association.
A member of the Audubon Society and life member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, she enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, hiking, photography and her cats.
Surviving are her parents, Ed and Edna Hoke of Delaware; a sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Roger Roberts of Sunbury; a brother, Ed Hoke III of Corbin, Oregon; nephews Jason and Brian Roberts and Talon and Sage Hoke; many uncles, aunts, cousins; and dear friends Mary Taylor, Karen Collier and Ida Walsh of Cincinnati.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2001 from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. followed by services at 3:30 p.m. with Pastors Brian Smith, Art Reed and Richard Maurer officiating at Sunbury United Methodist Church. A private interment will be at Sunbury Memorial Park.
Arrangements are in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunbury UMC, P.O. Box 248, Sunbury 43074 or Delhi Middle School, c/o Oakhills School District, 6479 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45248.

James Holbrook
James L. Holbrook, 50, of Grove City and formerly of Sunbury, died Friday (February 2, 2001) at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born on December 8, 1950, in Columbus, he worked as a welder for S&G Metal Works and Flexible Corp. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and was a member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Skeens Rolfe, and a sister, Brenda Young.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, James S. and Betty Holbrook of Marengo; three daughters, Laura and Frank Roberts of Westerville, Cora and Scott Huntsman of Galion, and Rebecca Holbrook and her fiance, Mike Beck of Mount Gilead; three grandsons, Anthony, Philip, and Tanner; his fiancee, Barb O'Neill of Grove City; three sisters, Dixie (Bill) White of Worthington, Lena (Rick) Francis of Florida and Pat Anderson of Marengo; and nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a lifelong friend, Carla.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held). Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Marie C. Holter
Marie C. Holter, 85, Sunbury, died Friday (November 8, 2002) at her residence.
Mrs. Holter was born November 3, 1917 in Jerome, Ohio, to the late Everett and Hannah Blanton Chambers. She was a 4-H leader for over 20 years and a 46-year member with Farm Bureau Counsel of Delaware County. She retired from Insurance Service of Ohio in Columbus.
Marie is survived by her husband of 64 years. Everett Holter of Sunbury; three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Zieschang of Sarasota, Florida, Juanita (James) Wampler of Galena and Esther Kessler of Reynoldsburg; two sisters, June Mitchell and Linda (Richard) Lucas, both of Macon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carl Kessler, and one brother, Jim Chambers.
The family received friends at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral services were held with Chaplain Dave Sedziol officiating.
Burial was in Fancher Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 West Central Avenue, Delaware, Ohio 43015.

Dorothy M. Heyder Holtzman
Dorothy M. Heyder Holtzman, 82, Sunbury, died Thursday afternoon (August 2, 2001) at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
Born in Columbus on January 3, 1919, she had resided in Sunbury for the past seven years after moving here from Columbus. She was retired from the Clerk of Courts Office in Franklin County.
Holtzman attended Sunbury Nazarene Church and was a member of North Star Shrine #45. She loved to crochet.
She is survived by two sons, Rolly (Mary) Heyder and Larry (Sharon) Heyder of Sunbury; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and by two step-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Holtzman, in 1962.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury where services were held with Pastor Jan Ruark officiating. Interment followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware County Humane Society, 4920 Ohio 37 East.

Abigail Ann Hopper
Abigail Ann Hopper, of Galena, was stillborn on Dec. 13, 1997, at University Hospital of Columbus.
She is survived by her parents, Thomas W. and Sally Jo (Heil) Hopper of Galena; her twin brother, Andrew Nicholas Hopper; maternal grandparents, Patty A. (Lorain) Basinger and Guy W. Heil, both of Kenton; paternal grandparents, Joann F. and Frank T. Hopper of Delaware; and an uncle and his wife, Ashley and Kathy Heil of Kenton.
Private graveside services were held at the Galena Cemetery with the Rev. Stacy A. Evans officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

Hazel E. Horlocker
Hazel E. Horlocker, 86, of Ashley died on Monday (Jan. 12, 1998) at her home at Ashley Villa.
Born in Delaware County on Jan. 28, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Nellie (Stratton) and Jesse Rader. A homemaker, she lived most of her life in the Marengo area.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Harley Hart of Marengo; a daughter-in-law, Clara Horlocker of Cardington; 13 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Wayne E. Horlocker in 1971; a son, Norris Horlocker; a daughter, Anna Jean Houghes; two grandsons, Wayne Horlocker and Michael Raines; two brothers, Homer and Howard Rader; and a sister, Helen Rader.
Visitation was held at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Marengo, where funeral services were on Thursday with the Rev. Joe Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady Hospital, 561 West Central Avenue, Delaware 43015.

Evelyn Hoover
Evelyn E. (Dawson) Hoover, 82 of Sunbury, died Friday evening (March 5, 1999) at Sunbury Nursing Home.
She was born on May 11, 1916 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Horace C. and Georgia A. (Deem) Wygal. Graduate and Valedictorian of Harlem High School Class of 1934. She moved to Sunbury in 1950. Member of Sunbury United Methodist Church for 48 years. Retired in 1976 from the Community Library in Sunbury after 22 years of service.
She enjoyed reading and traveling. She and her husband traveled to all of the 50 United States, with the exception of Hawaii and Rhode Island, as well as to all of the provinces of Canada, except Newfoundland.
Survived by her second husband of 25 years, Robert Hoover. They were married in 1973. Daughter Joan Osler of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law. Paul and Linda Dawson of Sunbury; step-daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Curtis Ihle of Burke, Va.; step-son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Ruthie Hoover of Galena; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her first husband of 36 years, Carl J. Dawson in 1972, two brothers Deem Wygal in 1953 and Paul Wygal in 1915.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral services were held Tuesday with Rev. David and Suzanne Hill officiating. Interment at Sunbury Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made in her memory at the Community Library, 44 Burrer Drive, Sunbury.
