Howard McKenzie
Howard Junior McKenzie, 68, of Clearlake, California, died Monday evening (February 18, 2002) at the home of his daughter in Marengo.
He was born on May 24, 1933, in Flat Gap, Kentucky, to the late Fred and Zora Stambaugh McKenzie. A graduate of Flat Gap High School's Class of 1953, he was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and lived in the Marengo area from 1953 until 1964, when he moved to California.
Howard was a businessman in the Clearlake area for 25 years; he worked as a tool-and-die maker, and operated an automotive repair shop as well as a camp ground and marina. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jo Sparks and Serena Fay Thorne.
Surviving are his stepmother, Anne McKenzie of Flat Gap; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karlene and Mike Hollenberg of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Freda and Doug Clark of Marengo; a son, Michael McKenzie of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Adam, Don, Grant and Brandon; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Sharon McKenzie, Darrell and Liz McKenzie of Columbus, Marion and Ann McKenzie of Carrie, Mississippi, Donald and Shirley McKenzie of Marengo, Terry and Cindy McKenzie of Paintsville, Kentucky, and Tom and Gwen McKenzie of Flat Gap; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Janet and Roy Scarbury of Condit, Marcella Van Sickle of Marengo, Peggy and Harold Frame of Fredericktown and JoAnn Gordon of Flat Gap.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Trenton Cemetery with the Reverend Crate D. Sparks officiating and military honors provided by the honor guard of VFW Post No. 8735. Calling hours were not observed. Arrangements were in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Donald McLeod
Donald H. McLeod, 79, Gahanna, died Thursday (June 21, 2001). He was a member of the Gahanna Malibu Racing Team.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geri McLeod.
Visitation was held at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville, with a graveside service held at Trenton Cemetery, Condit, with the Reverend Andrew Wilch Jr. officiating.
Thomas "Ed" McNamara
Thomas "Ed" McNamara, 89, Berlin Township, Delaware, died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 2000) at Grady Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born June 10, 1910, to the late Thomas F. and Johanna (Ford) McNamara.
Ed was a lifelong farmer and resident of Berlin Township. He was a 1930 graduate of Berlin High School. He was a member of St. Mary Church and a trustee there for 20 years, a former board member for the Delaware County District Library and the Delaware Farmers Exchange and a two year board member of the Central Ohio Milk Advisory Board. Work was his hobby, and he was very proud of his Irish heritage. He also enjoyed traveling and his family.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Vi McNamara, Delaware; a sister-in-law, Anne Margaret McNamara, Lewis Center; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Frank, Paul and Harold McNamara; and two sisters, Mary McNamara and Florence Darenkamp.
Calling hours were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mary Church, Delaware, with the Rev. Kevin Kavanagh, celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church.
Edwin D. McNichols
Edwin D. "Ed" McNichols, 76, Delaware, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at his residence.
He was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Weber, Kan., to the late Floren and Agnes (Shimic) McNichols.
Mr. McNichols was a graduate of Brown High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Troy Chapel Church. A truck driver for Western Auto, he retired in 1987 after 15 years service. He was a milk route driver in the Sunbury area for 24 years prior to taking the milk to the Borden Co. He was a member of Delaware VFW Post 3297 and the Good Sam Club. He enjoyed camping, golfing, bowling and music.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen (Kunze) McNichols, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1945, in Mount Gilead; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Rodger and Jeff, both Delaware, and Kenney and Connie, Sunbury; two daughters and sons-in-law Sheri and Joe Hamilton, Sunbury, and Tami J. and Mark Holton, Delaware; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Betty McNichols, Nottingham, Pa.; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Kunze, Powell, and Jean Kunze, Brinkhaven; and 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald L., on Jan. 22, 1975; one grandson; and one step-grandson.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware. Funeral services were held with Martin Holmes and Mike Mounts, pastors, officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by Delaware County Veteran Services, followed at Fairview Memorial Park.

Laura Beth McPherson
Laura Beth McPherson nee Anderson, 34, Waukeegan, was born to eternal life on January 17, 2001. She was the loving wife of Douglas, a 1978 graduate of Big Walnut High School, and devoted mother of Tyler, Ellie and Kyla. She was stepmother of Michelle.
She was born to Lawrence and Frances Anderson on February 14, 1966. She was a sister of Jeffrey (Elizabeth) and Brian (Meg Weekley) Anderson, a granddaughter of Amy Anderson and aunt to Kelly, Jeffrey Jr., Brianne and Karen Anderson. She was a good friend of Robert and Jon Weekley. Survivors include in-laws Harold and Joan McPherson of Galena.
May the Angels walk with her.

Barbara McQuillan
Barbara E. "Sis" McQuillan, 79, Galena, died Thursday afternoon (April 4, 2002) at The Village of Westerville Nursing Center, Westerville.
She was born on February 24, 1923, in Beaver to the late Lum and Edna Chandler. A graduate of Westerville High School, she was formerly employed by Timken Company, as a school bus driver for Westerville St. Paul Catholic Schools and was the family farm manager.
She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, the Delaware County Harness Horseman Association, U.S. Trotting Association, American Legion Post 171 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a former member of St. Paul Church, Westerville. She enjoyed horses and had been a 4-H advisor.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles J. McQuillan, in 1997; and a brother, Hank Chandler.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. "Joe" Jr. and Amy McQuillan of Celina; two daughters and a son-in-law, Edna J. and Norman Sears of North Ridge, California, and Mary E. Clemens of Galena; seven grandchildren, Norman B., Corey T., Charles J. III, Franklin J., Jamy M., Jennifer, and William J.; four great-grandchildren, Natasha J., Alexis N., Colton T., and Emma C.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Nin Chandler of Powell, Elmer and Joann Chandler of Mount Vernon, and Harry Chandler of Howard; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Neil Ramsey of Mount Vernon.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John Neumann Church with Father James Walter as celebrant.
Interment was in Burnside Cemetery.

Ann V. Meade
Ann V. Meade, 54, Centerburg, died unexpectedly Saturday (Jan. 6) at St. Ann's Hospital.
She was born in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 19, 1964, to the late Glenn and Margaret (Reed) Wiley and moved to the Centerburg area in 1972 from Columbus. A motorcycle enthusiast, she also enjoyed music.
Surviving are her son and fiancee, Norm Meade and Kacy Madeker of Fredericktown; two grandsons, Anthony and Andrew Meade; and a sister, Margaret Price of Columbus.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Brad Duncan officiating. Burial followed in Bloomfield Cemetery, near Sparta.

Howard Meade
Howard E. Meade Sr., 82, of Marengo died Tuesday (Oct. 27, 1998) at St. Anne's Hospital, Westerville.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1916 in Lebanon, Va. to the late George P. and Carrie E. (Holland) Meade. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he moved to Marengo in 1978 from Columbus. He was a coal miner motorman in Jewell Valley, Va., retired head custodian for Grandview Heights Board of Education, and a member of UMWA Local No. 7327 and Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Marengo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy P. (Tuggle), whom he married Oct. 18, 1938; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Howard E. Meade, Jr. of Raven, Va., Earnest E. and Allie Meade of Centerburg, Lacy A. and Patricia Meade of Lancaster, Douglas M. and Toby Meade of Sunbury, Dwaine A. and Jennifer Meade of Centerburg, and Preston L. and Melanie Meade of Marengo; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Charlotte J. of Wagener, S.C., Peggy L. and Donald Horton of Raven, Va., Judy K. and Gene Wheeler of Marengo, Joan E. and Lee Leonard of Caryville, Tenn., Annie Lorine and Earl Leonard of Centerburg, and Kaye F. and James Kilgore of Centerburg; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Meade of Tazewell, Ariz.; and four sisters, Margeret Tuggle of Swords Creek, Va., Dorothy Mae Keen of Richlands, Va., Viola Owens of Lookout Mt., N.C., and Juanita Davis of Richlands, Va.
Preceded in death by a brother, Glen Meade and a sister, Frankie Tuggle.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were at Victory Freewill Baptist Church, 2784 Ohio 229, Marengo. The Revs. James Thacker and Brad Duncan will be officiating. Interment was in Bloomfield Cemetery, Sparta.
Russell Meade
Russell Neville Meade, 76, Sunbury, died unexpectedly on Wednesday (August 14, 2002) at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He was born on January 24, 1926, in Khargpur, India, to Harold Meade and Beryl (Connell) Meade. The CEO of Meade & Associates, Westerville, an accounts receivable management company he founded in 1978, he was a graduate of Victoria University in Kurseong, India, in 1944. He was an Eagle Scout, and an undefeated boxer while at the university. During World War II, he was an officer in the British Intelligence for four years. Russell came to the United States in 1948 and became an American citizen in 1960. He was very proud to be an American.
Russ came to Delaware County in the late 1960s from Boston. A 28-year resident of Cheshire Road, he moved to Sunbury six years ago. Mr. Meade was one of the founders and a long-time officer of the Olentangy Athletic Boosters, and started the Blue and Gold Club. He was a Paul Harris fellow and member of the Delaware Rotary Club and one-time member of the Elks and Lions clubs of Delaware. An avid breeder and trainer of bird dogs, he loved to hunt with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mildred (Niewoonder) Meade of Sunbury; his children, Cathy DelTedesco of Westerville, Russell and Linda Meade of Delaware, Brian and Mary Ann Meade of Lewis Center, Debbie and Tim Whitten of Sunbury, and Rod and Melody Meade of Sunbury; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held at Sunbury United Methodist Church with the Reverend Carol Weiss officiating. Interment was in Cheshire Cemetery.

Myrtle Meade, 89, Warsaw, Indiana, formerly of Sunbury, died Wednesday (August 7, 2002) at Mason Health Care Center, Warsaw, Indiana.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services followed with Pastor Robert Hackney officiating.
Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.
