Betty Nichols
Betty M. Nichols, 81, of Sunbury, died early Saturday morning (August 3, 2002) at Broadview Health Center, Gahanna.
She was born in Fayette County on November 28, 1920, to the late Albert C. and Vina C. Hamilton Morris. Betty was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Sunbury High School's Class of 1938. The homemaker had worked for Whitney Insurance Co. in Sunbury and as a bookkeeper for Sunbury & Cellar Lumber Company and Shaw Pharmacy.
A member of Sunbury United Methodist Church for over 60 years and a member of the American Legion Post No. 457 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and enjoyed sewing.
Nichols is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert E. Nichols; two daughters, Judy (Vernon) Berry of Tucson, Arizona and Bonnie (Mark) McMillan of Gahanna; one son, Mack (Sherea) Nichols of Delaware; five grandchildren, Robbie, Mark, Lori, Paul and Susan; and by five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Morris, and a sister, Geraldine McNamara.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held with pastors Brian Smith and Richard Maurer officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Henry Stewart Nincehelser
Henry Stewart Nincehelser, 100 , Sunbury died Friday morning (February 15, 2002).
Nincehelser was born to the late Rachel and Grant Nincehelser of Cable in Champaign County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Helen McCormick Nincehelser, and two sisters, Ruth and Elizabeth.
He attended Ohio Northern and Ohio State universities to study electrical engineering. He was a service manager for Budd & Company, Columbus, until 1945 when he and Helen purchased Helen's family farm in Berkshire Township in Delaware County.
Nincehelser is survived by two daughters, Rachel Stockwell and Carol Wirick of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, Amy Carol Stockwell, Laurinda Stockwell, David Stockwell, Kevin Stewart Wirick, Dale Wirick, Sally Beske and Carrie Wirick; by eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Esther E. McCormick; and by a niece and a nephew.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services followed with the Reverend Weldon Stockwell officiating.
Interment in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Phyllis Nininger
Phyllis Jean Nininger, 58, of Marengo, died Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1942, in Fincastle, Va., to the late Alvy W. Nininger and Hazel (Austin) Nininger, who survives in Marengo.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Shelby Nininger, in 1992.
Surviving in addition to her mother are three brothers, Robert Nininger of LaRue, Thurman "Buzz" Nininger of Marengo, and Lewis Nininger of Centerburg; and two sisters, Shirly Stambaugh of Mt. Gilead, and Joan Mitchell of Cardington.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Robert Clevenger of Fargo Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial followed in Butter Cemetery near Marengo.
Ruth A. Nininger
Ruth A. Nininger, 52, of Marengo, died Thursday (July 9, 1998) at Park Medical Center, Columbus, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 7, 1946 in Columbus to the late Floyd and Gladys (Frost) Hinkle. She moved to Marengo from Columbus over 40 years ago. She was an assembly worker for Reliance Electric, Worthington, and a member of Fargo Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Nininger is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Thurman W. "Buzz" Nininger, whom she married June 25, 1965; sons and daughters-in-law Thomas W. of Marengo, Tim A. and Tonya of Centerburg, and Travis J. and Angie of Marengo; grandchildren Alicia, Makayla, and Lucas; brothers and sisters-in-law Floyd Jr. and Theresa Hinkle or Hilliard, Robert J. and Rosemary Hinkle, David J. and Joanne Hinkle, and Samuel K. and Marie Hinkle, all of Cardington, Daniel G. and Carolyn Hinkle of Stockton, CA., Donald P. and Rita Hinkle of Sunbury, and Ronald Hinkle of Mount Gilead; and sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Jane and Steve Staten of Mount Gilead, and Naomi and Richard Curl of Sunbury.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, the Rev. James Cichon officiating. Burial was in Fargo Cemetery.
Donald Nitzsche
Donald O. "Dutch" Nitzsche, 64, Delaware, died Thursday (Dec. 10, 1998) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born in Stow on March 1, 1934, to the late Otto and Ruth (Stuart) Nitzsche. He had been a Delaware County resident since 1971. He served for 10 years in the United States Air Force, and retired in 1985 as a patrolman for the Columbus City Police Department, serving the east side for 20 years. He was a member of the Columbus Fraternal Order of Police and enjoyed sports and woodworking.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Ann (Ringer) Nitzsche; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lora Nitzsche, Oak Park, Ill.; Dale and Pam Nitzsche, Marengo; and Andrew and Nicole Nitzsche, Delaware; five grandchildren, Shane, Tasha, Juliette, Allyson and Rachel; two stepgrandchildren, Tina and Shelly Burns; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Brooke; and two brothers, Richard Nitzsche, Stow; and William, Cuyahoga Falls.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Charlotte.
Visitation was held one hour before the memorial service at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Grady Memorial Hospital.
Cheryl L. (Klinedinst) O'Neal
Cheryl L. (Klinedinst) O'Neal, age 38, died Tuesday afternoon (June 16, 1998) from injuries suffered in a traffic accident north of Sunbury.
She was born on May 2, 1960, in Columbus, to Chester L. and Margaret (Oden) Klinedinst of Galena.
Mrs. O'Neal graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1978. The family moved to this area from Columbus in 1974. She was a pre-school teacher for toddlers ages 2 to 3 at Noah's Ark Learning Center in Sunbury, and a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her loving husband of 20 years, David O'Neal, whom she married June 17, 1978; her son, Scott; her daughter, Jennifer; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Chester "Chip" and Debbie Klinedinst of Sunbury; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Randy Shears of Cardington; her parents-in-law, Bill and Esther O'Neal of Florida; many friends; and the toddlers who were her students.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 20, at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bob Riggs officiating. Interment was in Blue Church Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Paul Orahood
Paul Orahood, 66, Delaware, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) in Delaware.
He was born March 23, 1935, in Delaware, to Eunice (Keister) Orahood and Roy Orahood. A 1954 graduate of Delaware Willis High School, he owned and operated Paul's Auto Body in Kilbourne, and was retired from Dennison-Abex.
The lifelong Delaware-area resident is survived by his wife, Neina "Rocky;" two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Mark Mazzon and Denise and Jeffery Jones of Sunbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Terri of Columbus, and Neil and Judy of Kilbourne; four grandchildren, Allison and Joe Mazzon, and Jodi and Heidi Orahood; and a sister, Martha Schumacher of Florida.
Visitation was at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, Delaware, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Cindy Berkshire officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.
Kenneth B. Overturf
Kenneth B. Overturf, 77, Columbus, died Tuesday (Jan. 19, 1999) at his home.
Mr. Overturf was born July 23, 1921, in Bucyrus to the late Ruth Freeman and Gaylord P. Overturf. He was a 1939 graduate of Sunbury High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1941-1945 in the South Pacific. He attended Lake Forest College, University of Chicago, Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio State University. He was employed by North American Rockwell as a mechanical engineer for over 32 years. He was a member of Indianola Church of Christ for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lathouse Overturf; two sons and daughters-in-law, C. Gary and Holly Overturf, Worthington, and Mark and Janice Overturf, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie (Overturf) and Jack Fooks, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers William Thomas, Nolan Freeman and John Wayne Overturf.
Visitation was held at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Hugh Snepp and Jack Fooks officiating. Interment was at Fancher Cemetery.

Dorothy Owen
Dorothy E. Owen, 82, Sunbury, died Friday evening (April 5, 2002) in St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
She was born in Berkshire Township on March 1, 1920, to the late Clarence and Iva (Payne) Perry. A lifelong area resident and graduate of Sunbury High School, she was a homemaker and had worked as a cashier for the former Roots Department Store and Krogers, both of Sunbury. She also worked as a baby sitter for several area families and as a waitress for several area restaurants, including the Sunbury Grill.
She attended Sunbury Wesleyan Church, was a 50-year member of Columbia Chapter 33 Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed her family and crossword puzzles.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Slagle; five brothers, Carl, Paul, Walter, Lester, and Robert Perry; and three sisters, Louise Day, Marie Grooms, and Eva Guthridge.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Kenneth W. Owen; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Owen of Sunbury and Anita and Kenneth Slagle of Columbus; two sons, Roger Owen and Warren Owen of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Lisa, Stacey, and Sabrina; and a sister, Gladys Perry of Centerburg.
Visitation and OES services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with Pastor Gerald Davis officiating.
Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Marion "Rudy" Owen
Marion "Rudy' Owen, 77, Sunbury, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at home.
He was born in Olive Green on June 8, 1922, to the late Milo L. and Imo Bell (Huddlestun) Owen.
Rudy was a lifetime resident of the Sunbury area and a graduate of Sunbury High School, class of 1940. He was a member of the U.S. Army 12th Armored Division in World War II. Much of his life was spent in professional baseball as a player and a trainer for Washington, Pa., Columbus Jets, Rochester Red Wings and Charleston Charlies. He recently was honored for 25 years as a sports trainer at Otterbein College receiving the Atheltic Directors Award of Distinction.
He was a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, Sparrow Lodge No. 400 F&AM, Columbia Chapter No. 33 OES and the Otterbein "O" Club.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Virginia (Sponaugle) Owen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Judy and Richard Wright, Columbus, and Polly Frentsos, Westerville; a son, Bill Owen, Columbus; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Owen, Sunbury; five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerus nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Wortz; and a son-in-law, Phil Frentsos.
Calling hours were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. OES services were held. Funeral services were held with the Rev. David Hill officiating. Interment was at Sunbury Memorial Park.
