June Smith
June E. (Dennis) Smith, 73, Croton, died Monday (December 10, 2001) at Heartland Rest Home, Centerburg.
She was born on June 27, 1928, in Groveport to the late Raymond and Julia Dennis. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Westerville.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Loy M. Smith; her daughters and spouses, Catherine and Carty Breeze of Tecumseh, Michigan, Constance and Tom Baughman of Newark, Vivian Smith of Charlottesville, Virginia, Sally and Tom Vincent of Galena, and Barbara and Keith O'Connell of Richmond, Virginia; a son and wife, Dale and Angie Smith of Centerburg; her grandchildren, Matt and Ryan Breeze, Jennifer, Jessica and Noel Baughman, Brent, Brandon and Brian Vincent, and Colin McCaffrey; a great-grandson, Brenan McCaffrey; two sisters, Beverly Will of Jacksonville, Florida, and Shirley Elliott of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Ruth Solt of Columbus; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Libby Smith of Centerburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church with pastors Charlie Woodward and Garrard Haubrich officiating.
Interment was in East View Cemetery, Centerburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4688 East Walnut Street, Westerville 43081 or Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Boulevard, Suite 210, Columbus 43229.

Kenneth D. Smith
Kenneth D. Smith, age 53, of Waskom, Texas, died Aug. 2, 1998 at his home following a two-year illness.
He was born on July 3, 1945, in Stark County, Ky., to the late Herbert and Maude (Conn) Smith. He spent his childhood years in the Sunbury area and had been a resident of Texas for 17 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and retired environmental technician for General Motors in Shreveport, La.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Osborn); daughters and son-in-law, Angela C. and Joe Nickle of Shreveport, and Kimberly Smith, of home; grandson Cameron Nickle; brothers and sisters-in-law Glen and Roberta Smith and Jack and Mona Smith, all of Sunbury, and Raymond and Alice Smith, of Richlands, Va.; and sisters Ruby Rea of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Benvento, of New Jersey.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, the Rev. Daniel Burris officiating. Interment with military honors was in Trenton Cemetery.

LeRoy Smith
LeRoy E. "Smurf" Smith, 59, Sunbury, died Tuesday afternoon (November 12, 2002) at the Sunbury Nursing Home.
He was born in Columbus on October 6, 1943, to the late Ralph and Jean (Williams) Smith. Originally from the Harlem Township area, he had been a longtime Sunbury area resident, also living in Pekon, Indiana, for 10 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for J. Graf and Sons in the construction field.
A member of Sunbury Eagles 3614 and Genoa Baptist Church, he enjoyed golfing, playing euchre and was a fan of horse races.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Stacie and Scott Hines of Ashley; two grandchildren, Courtnie and Caden; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Sunbury; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ralph and Sam Smith of Galena, Lloyd and Judy Smith of Condit, and Tim Smith of Columbus; nine nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jennifer.
Visitation and funeral services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with Pastors Todd Smith and Wayne Booth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary E. Smith
Mary E. Smith, 70, of Sunbury died on Wednesday (May 27, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
Born in Upper Arlington on May 5, 1928, to the late Harold and Gladys (Lowman) Sigler, she was a homemaker a lifetime resident of the Sunbury area. She was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, William A. Smith, whom she married on Aug. 31, 1947; and two daughters, Debbie and Shelley Smith, both of Sunbury.
Visitation was held at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, where services were were officiated by the Rev. Carol Weiss. Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 253 E. Church St., Marion 43302, or to the Community Library, 44 Burrer Drive, Sunbury.

Maurine Jassa Smith
Maurine Jassa Smith, 49, Sunbury, died Thursday, November 21, 2002, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware,
She was born in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, on April 28, 1953 to Nellie Carter Greenfield and the late Sam Summerville. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
In addition to her mother, Maurine is survived by her husband, Dr. Bashiel Henrique Smith, whom she married June 26, 1997; by sons Jerome A. Gray II, William Benjamin Smith and Sandy Wellington Smith; brothers Kollie McCabe, Clarence Greenfield, Rofio Greenfield and David Greenfield; sisters Hawa McCabe-Trinity, Uvet Ejiogu-Greenfield and Phoebe Greenfield-Clarke.
Visitation and a prayer service was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with celebrant Father James A. Walter.
Interment was in Park Cemetery in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Richard W. Smith
Following a brief illness, Richard W. Smith, 88, Sunbury, died Saturday afternoon (February 24, 2001) at his home.
Born in Stark, Ky., on February 19, 1913, to the late Morris Richard and Mary Elizabeth (Rabb) Smith, he had lived in Sunbury since 1942, having moved from Webville, Ky. A former farm hand for Harry Rhoads for 28 years, he was also a retired maintenance worker for Nestles. He loved to fish and hunt, and in later years, gardened with his wife, Myrtle. He was a member of True Bible Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mavis Welch, in 1994; a grandson, Ricky A. Smith, in 1996; eight brothers, Ed, Charles, Fred, Don, Will, Herb, Walter and Eph; and five sisters, Sarah Smith, Grace Smith, Lillian Bryant, Lecta Compton and Betha Skaggs.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle (Whitt) Smith, whom he married on April 29, 1934 in Kentucky; two sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. and Peggy Smith of Sunbury and Elwood and Roberta Smith of Delaware; a daughter, Pauline Schoenberger of Sunbury; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held with Frank Kirk and J.R. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Berkshire Cemetery.

Tim J. Smith
Tim J. Smith, 41, Sunbury, passed away March 19, 1999 at his residence.
He was a mechanic for Columbus Autoville and an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed boating, people and laughter.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Janet Smith, Newark; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Faith and Larry Barker, Croton, and Joy and Cletus Wonders, Mount Vernon; one niece, several nephews and one niece-in-law, Joshua and Jeremy Wonders, Jason and Adriann Wonders and Jamie and Julie Barker; two great-nephews, Jason and Alexander Wonders; special friend, Phil Longshore; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Wanda Joyce (Scott) Smith.
Memorial services will be announced later by Crouse-Kauber Funeral Home, Johnstown. Cremation has taken place and no calling hours were observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Walter T. Smith
Walter T. Smith, 90, of Centerburg died on Sunday (Jan. 18, 1998) afternoon at Morning View Care Center, Condit.
Born on June 16, 1907, in Sandy Hook, Ky., to the late Morris and Mary (Rabb) Smith, he moved to Centerburg from Sunbury 40 years ago. He was a welder, retired from the maintenance department of the former Galena Brick & Shale. He was a member of the True Bible Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Dale Bernard; four brothers, Herb, Don, Fred, and Will; and three sisters, Lecta Compton, Betha Skaggs, and Lillian Bryant.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jack T. and Joyce Smith of Westerville; two daughters, Irene Chadwick of Center Village and Patsy Marsiglia of Glen Burnie, Md.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Myrtle Smith of Sunbury, and Eph Smith of Jackson.
Visitation was held at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. J.R. Smith officiating. Interment was in Berkshire Cemetery.

Ila Snow
Ila M. Snow, 78, Sunbury, and formerly of Columbus, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999).
She was retired as an executive secretary at Grant Hospital after 15 years, and had also retired from Nationwide Insurance after 25 years. She was a U.S. Navy reservist from 1956 to 1960.
Surviving are her husband, Joe; a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Snow) Williams; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Bud) and Ruth Moore, Columbus; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. Funeral services were held with Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery.

Joe W. Snow
Joe W. Snow, 79, Sunbury, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at his home. A former Columbus resident, he was employed by Deercreek Auto Parts, Williamsport; Riverside Auto Parts, Newark; and Wirthman's Auto Parts, Columbus. He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Williams of Columbus; two grandsons, Bradley and Chad Williams; a great-granddaughter, Michaela; a sister-in-law, Mae B. Snow; a brother-in-law, Ernie Toth; a brother-in-law, Harold Moore, and his wife, Ruth; four nieces, Patti Masucci, Linda White, Debbie Stoots and Laura Lama; and three nephews, Kirk Toth, Larry Moore and Gary Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila M. Snow; a brother, Charles Snow; and a sister, Florence Toth.
Visitation was at the Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville where services were held with the Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery.
