Anita Springstun
Anita P. Springstun, 71, Mount Gilead, died Friday (September 21, 2001) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was born on October12, 1929, in Winters, Texas, to the late William and Addie Lee Bishop Jennings and retired from the Human Resource Department of Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. She was widowed and enjoyed bowling and square dancing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Don Campbell; three brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Mike Robson of Marengo, Susan and Raymond Gasper of Ft. Smith, Arizona, Judy and Bob Roby of Boston, Massachusetts, and Patti Campbell of Marion; her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry and Dottie Shook of Delaware, Albert (Pete) and Sylvia Walton of Ft. Smith, Arizona, and John and Tammy Springstun of Chesterville; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Jennings.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo, where funeral services were held. Interment was in Marengo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes or American Heart associations.

Angela Marie Stage
Angela Marie Stage, 85, Grove City, passed away Tuesday (February 20, 2001) at Grant Medical Center.
She was one of the original 11 members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church when it opened in 1953. She was also a member of the Rosary-Alter Society and the St. Elizabeth Guild.
Stage was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by by her son Tom (Jodi) Stage of Grove City who was a former Big Walnut High School cross country coach; three grandchildren, Patrick, Ginifer and Beth Stage; a sister, Frances Ricci; a brother-in-law, Ike (Shelah) Stage; and by two sisters-in-law, Bernice (Dick) Chaddock and Janet (Ed) Fisher.
Visitation was at Miller Funeral Home, Grove City. Mass of Christian Burial was at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Grove City. Interment was at Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Building and Expansion Fund.

Timothy Stanley
Timothy Gavin Stanley, 39, Sunbury, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998).
He was a member of Sunbury Christian Church, where he was a deacon. He was a former baseball and basketball coach and lifelong employee of McVay Furniture Company.
He is survived by sons Heath and Levi; parents Bob and Minnie Stanley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Leukemia Society. Visitation was at Hill Funeral Home, Westerville. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Robin Weier officiating. Interment was at Northlawn Memory Gardens.

Mary Joan Starkey
Mary Joan "Joanne" (Searles) Starkey, a long-time Wooster resident, died Saturday (November 9, 2002) at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness involving renal failure. She was 65.
She was born in Sunbury and graduated from Big Walnut High School. After working as a secretary in Columbus, she married and moved to Wooster in 1964 when her former husband, Don Starkey, was assigned to the Wooster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
In 1972, she moved to her farm in the Moreland area, where she and her former husband owned and operated Star-Wick Pheasant Farm and Hunting Preserve until the late 1970s. Subsequently, she became the president and sole shareholder of Homestead Veal Inc.
In addition to raising three children, she was active in the agribusiness community for approximately 20 years, maintaining one of the few area businesses owned and operated by a woman. She was a member of the Ohio Veal Growers Association and was honored on several occasions by that group for her business practices and dedication. She continued to operate Homestead Veal with her daughter until the summer of 2001, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
During the past year, she spent most of her time in Boca Raton, Florida, with her oldest daughter, focusing on being a full-time grandmother to her young granddaughters.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Michael and Andrea (Phillips) Starkey of Wooster, Sandra and David Vaught of Wooster, and Jennifer and Samuel Augspurger of Boca Raton, Florida; three grandchildren, Shawn Vaught and Victoria and Alison Augspurger; and two sisters, Phyllis Meige of Reynoldsburg and Minetta Brunner of Kingman, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Searles of Sunbury.
Visitation and services were held at Apple Creek United Methodist Church, Apple Creek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265, or the Apple Creek Church, 269 West Main Street, Apple Creek 44606.
Arrangements are in the care of McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.

Marymae Stauch
Marymae L. Stauch, 79, Sunbury, died unexpectedly on Sunday (November 10, 2002) at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.
She was born on November 10, 1923, in Johnstown, to the late Fred and Dora (Kitzmiller) Tippett. A Sunbury-area resident since the age of 12, she was a member of the Sunbury High School Class of 1942. She enjoyed gardening and loved to sew for her friends and family, and her special joy was her great-granddaughter, Olivia DeJonge.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Pearl C. Stauch, who passed away on April 1, 2002; a brother, Paul Tippett; and two sisters, Merle Dusenbeury and Gladys Goodman.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Warren Masters of Sunbury and Darlene and Craig Bowen of Shelbyville, Tennessee; five grandchildren and spouses, John and Cristy Grandominico, Tami and Bill DeJonge, Sara and Brad Busold, Sarah Bowen and Frank Bowen.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury with Pastor Robert Riggs officiating.
Interment will be in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society, 145 North High Street, Suite 1200, Columbus 43215 or the Alzheimer's Association, 39 West Winter Street, Delaware 43015.

Pearl Stauch
Pearl C. Stauch, 83, Sunbury, died Monday morning (April 1, 2002) at Bennington Glen, Marengo.
He was born on March 23, 1919, in Galloway to the late Otto L. and Ottilia Schloesser Stauch. A veteran of the United States Army in World War II, he retired from Beatrice Foods. Pearl was ornery and of the Lutheran faith, and enjoyed children and listening to music.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Flora Brewer.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Marymae Tippett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Warren Masters of Sunbury and Darlene and Craig Bowen of Shelbyville, Tennessee.; five grandchildren and spouses, John and Christy Grandominico, Tami and Bill DeJonge, Sara and Brad Busold, Sarah Bowen and Frank Bowen; a great-granddaughter, Olivia DeJonge; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Willard and D'Emma Stauch of Sunbury, Bernard and Betty Jean Stauch of Sunbury, and Sheldon and Alice Stauch of Westerville; and a sister, Mabel Morrison of Westerville.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral services, at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with Pastor Robert Riggs officiating. Interment with military honors followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bennington Glen Activities Department, P.O. Box 10, Marengo, Ohio 43334.

Richard A. Stauch
Richard Arnold Stauch, 71, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Morning View Care Center in Centerburg.
He was born November 7, 1928, in Delaware County to the late Arnold Clarence and Edith May (Pritchard) Stauch. A member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was retired from the Hance Corp. of Westerville.
Mr. Stauch is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sonja Kay Stauch, and daughters Annette Edythe (Zachary) Jennings and Sharon Kay (Pharon) Smith; grandson Austin Jacob Jennings; granddaughter Karen Marie Smith; brother Robert Eugene (Erma) Stauch; niece Sandra Stauch; nephew Ronald (Jennifer) Stauch; Godchild Amber Hogg; several aunts and many counsins. He truly loved his family and enjoyed his friends, camping, square dancing, gardening, and church activities.
Calling hours were held at the Hill Funeral Home, 220 S. State St., Westerville, the funeral service held at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15370 Meredith State Rd., Sunbury, where friends were received one hour prior to the service. Internment was at Burnside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to his church or to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH. 43221. The family extends special thanks and praise to all family and friends, especially the staff of Morning View Care Center, who helped us through our difficult journey over the years.

Elaine Stein
Elaine M. Stein, 67, Galena, died unexpectedly Thursday (June 24, 1999) while visiting her daughter in Virginia Beach, Va.
She was born in Columbus on April 29, 1932, to the late Harry and Nellie (Maxwell) Young and lived near Galena for 46 years.
A graduate of Ohio State University, she had a master's degree in education. She was a first grade teacher and vice principal at Hylen Souders Elementary School. She had taught for Big Walnut Schools for 27 years.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Galena, and served on a number of boards. She was a Cub Scout den mother for Troop 347 of Center Village 1961-66; Girl Scout leader for Junior Troop 922, 1968-76; a 15 year leader for Harlem Guys and Gals 4-H Club; and a member of the Harlem 50-50 Club.
A devoted and loving mother and grandmother she is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale H. Jr. and Eileen Stein, Galena, and Harry R. and Lorie Stein, Galena; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Jeff Bradford, Galena, and Julie and Gene Lucas, Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Richard Paugh, Columbus; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John W. and Laura Stein, Lakeview, Phil and Shirley Odell, Las Cruces, N.M., and Carol Stein, Columbus; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A devoted and loving wife, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale H. Stein Sr., on March 15, 1997. They were married March 12, 1952.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were at New Hope UMC. Burial followed in Glen Rest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope UMC.

Ellen Stemen
Ellen L. Stemen, 79, of Sunbury, died Tuesday (July 16, 2002) at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.
A lifelong area resident, she was born in Berkshire Township on February 22, 1923, the daughter of the late Lester and Carrie McMahon Grove. She worked for the Village of Sunbury as the income tax director and was dedicated to her family. A member of Sunbury United Methodist Church and the Columbia Chapter No. 37 OES, Sunbury, Ellen was an avid harness racing fan.
She is survived by her husband, John W. "Jay" Stemen, whom she married on February 26, 1949; a son, Ronnie Stemen and his friend, Cheryl, of Johnstown; a daugher, Alice Tozer of Albuquerque, N.M.; a grandson, Micah Tozer; a sister-in-law, Nell Werner of Westerville; and a special friend, Ellen Ruth Steele of Charlotte, N.C.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Norman W. Gendt officiating. Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Paul C. Stephens Jr.
Paul C. Stephens Jr., 64, Marengo, was called home on Thursday (April 5, 2001) at James Cancer Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Mount Gilead on October 9, 1936 to the late Paul Sr. and Mattie (Hornsby) Stephens. He was a 1954 graduate of Cardington High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran with 20 years of service before retiring in 1976 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Fishburn Services as a truck driver for 22 years, retiring in 1988.
Stephens was a member of the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church. He enjoyed gospel music, fishing, cars and yard work, especially at his place in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty (Adkins) Stephens who he married on September 2, 1955; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Kim of Marengo, Rick and Carey of Delaware, and Randy of Columbus; four grandchildren, Ricky, Gabe, Laura and Jennifer; two step-grandchildren, Stacey and Emily; a sister, Alice (Calvin) Miller of Mansfield; two nieces, two nephews, eight brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law.
Visitation was Sunday (April 8, 2001) at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury where services were held Monday (April 9, 2001) with pastors Fred Buckner and Harry Mead officiating. Interment with military honors by the Honor Guard from Wright Patterson Air Force Base at Marengo Cemetery.
