David Watson
David Watson, 9, Marengo, son of Rev. Anthony and Laurie Watson, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning as a result of a house fire at his family residence.
David was born in Portsmouth, Va. on Oct. 22, 1991 to Rev. Anthony and Laurie (Smith) Watson of Marengo. He was a third-grader in Mrs. King"s class at Highland West Elementary School. He was an active member of the Alum Creek Evangelical Friends Church where his father pastored. David expressed his love daily with hugs and his bubbly personality.
Davis was a member of the Cub Scouts as a Webelo at Highland West. He enjoyed playing with his Game Boy and GI Joes. He enjoyed humor and was an excellent artist, called gifted by some who knew him. David was an accomplished reader and also collected Beanie Babies.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers Matthew (12) and Jonathon (20 months); sisters Rachel (10), Sarah (6) and Eliya (3); grandparents Barbara L. Hunt of Portsmouth, Va. and Bob and Gayle Smith of Charlottesville, Va.; great grandfather Tollie Layden of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and step-great grandmother Joyce Layden.
Also surviving are aunts and uncles Susan and Ronald L. Zeeb of Portsmouth, Va., Lee Smith of Charlottesville, Va., and John and Dawn Smith of Christiansburg, Va.; cousins Mandy and Ronnie Zeeb and Joshua Smith; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Leotis Hunt.
Calling hours were at the Alum Creek Evangelical Friends Church, 3385 Ohio 229, Marengo where services will be held with Rev. D. Frank Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Alum Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo.

Willard Q. Watts
Willard Q. Watts, 82, Sunbury, died Thursday (Feb. 25, 1999) at his residence.
He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Albuequerque, N.M., to the late Dode and Cecil (Reed) Watts. He was retired from Westerville Creamery, where he'd worked for more than 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and had lived in Sunbury since the 1950's.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey (Thompson); one daughter, Tyra Meyer, Sunbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Max and Erma Watts, Skidmore, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Dale Lambert and Demma and Willard Stauch, all of Sunbury; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
There were no calling hours or funeral service. A family burial was held at Bethlehem Cemetery, Claiborne. Bennett-Brown-Rodman Funeral Home, Delaware, handled arrangements.
Luke David Wampler
Luke David Wampler, beloved newborn son of Chad and Sharon Wampler, died Oct. 27 at St. Ann's Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Luke is survived by his great-grandmother, Hazel Hamilton of Sunbury; his grandparents, Stan and Naomi Skocki of Winter Springs, Fla.; Jenny Butts of Logan; Paul Wampler of Delaware; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington Chapel, with Pastor Tim Waggoner officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Kingwood Memorial Park.
L. Regina Weaver
L. Regina Weaver, 86, Sunbury, died Thursday (January 24, 2002) at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
She was born in Dundas, Ohio on September 8, 1915 to the late William and Cora (Whitlatch) Trainer. She worked at Otterbein College in the Student Cafeteria. She was the owner of the former Trainer Grocery in Galena and had worked at Kilgore Manufacturing during World War II.
Weaver is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Hurr and David Harmon of Sunbury, and by her granddaughter, Jandi Hurr of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Weaver, on November 10, 1965; by three brothers, Otto, Clovis and Leo Trainer; and by two sisters, Violet Trainer and Velma Hogans.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held with Pastor Jon Trainer officiating.
Interment was in Galena Cemetery.

Bernice Webb
Bernice Webb, 96, Sunbury, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1903, in Delaware County to the late Milton and Grace (Shafer) Utley.
She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and was a resident of Williamstown, Ky., for 70 years. She returned to Delaware County and Sunbury in 1997 to be with her family.
A homemaker, she was a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, OES in Williamstown, Grant County, Ky., Historical Society and Williamstown Homemakers Club.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Stanley Hauck, Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Webb, in 1980.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Graveside services followed at Sunbury Memorial Park with the Rev. David Hill officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Karen S. Weikel
Karen S. Weikel, 53, Sparta, died Thursday (Jan. 7, 1999) at her home following a battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 2, 1945, in Mount Vernon to the late Raymond Belcher and Verna Mae (Condit) Belcher who survives in Sparta. She was a lifelong Sparta-area resident and a member of Highland High School Class of 1963. Mrs. Weikel worked as a beautician for Joe's Beauty Salon, Sparta, for over 20 years.
She was a member of Sparta Advent Christian Church; former chairperson of the Morrow County Democratic Party; and served on the zoning board of South Bloomfield Township and the Morrow County Election Board. She and her husband recently completed the construction of their new home. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and tending her lawn.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Roger D. Weikel, whom she married Aug. 31, 1963; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and David Welle, Sparta; two sons and daughters-in-law Shawn and Kelly Weikel, Sparta, and Shad and Tamara Weikel, Marengo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Gladys Belcher, Sparta, and Ken and Marlene Belcher, Lima; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Bill Young, Marengo, and Carla and Kelly Emmons, Marion; and six grandchildren, Kami, Kodi, Macey and Garrett Weikel and Michall and Logan Welle.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.

Roger Weikel
Roger D. Weikel, 54, Sparta, died at his home Monday morning (Oct. 4, 1999) following a courageous battle against cancer.
Born in Galion on June 2, 1945, he was a lifelong Sparta-area resident and a graduate of the Highland High School Class of 1963.
He worked as a tool and die machinist for Nestle's, formerly located in Sunbury, and General Electric Super Abrasives. He served as a South Bloomfield Township trustee from 1988-1998. He was past master of the Chester F&AM Lodge No. 238, a member of the Sparta Advent Christian Church and Ohio State Coon Association, and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking.
He and his late wife, Karen S. (Belcher) Weikel, who died on Jan. 7, 1999, had recently finished constructing a new home.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and David Welle, Sparta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Kelly Weikel, Sparta, and Shad and Tamara Weikel, Marengo; his mother, Virginia Levings of Mount Gilead; his father, Eugene Weikel, Chesterville; a sister, Roberta Briley, Marengo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Weikel and Ronald and Connie Weikel, all of Chesterville; and six grandchildren.
Visitation and Masonic services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.

Grace Opal Weiss
Grace Opal Weiss, 88, Ohio 61 North, Mount Gilead, died Saturday (November 30, 2002) in the Morrow County Hospital ECF.
She was born in Tedrow, Ohio, on March 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Osker LeRoy and Minnie Elizabeth (Wenzel) Denson. Grace was a lifelong homemaker and assisted her husband with dairy farming. She was a member of Seniors on Center in Mount Gilead.
Weiss is survived by two sons, Fred (Eleanor) Weiss of Marengo, and Harry (Sandy) Weiss of Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters, Lorraine Saunders of Lewis Center, Marguerite (Jim) Wilde of Thorp, Wisconsin, and Linda (Gary) Pupp of Larson, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a brother, LeRoy Denson of Coudersport, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J. Weiss, whom she married August 15, 1931; four sisters, Virgie, Aliene, Bessie and Alberta; and three brothers, Wesley, Forrest and Virgil.
Visitation was held at the Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead. Services were held with the Reverend Beverly Hall officiating.
Burial followed in Butte Cemetery near Marengo.
Herman Weiss
Herman J. Weiss, 89, Mount Gilead, died Thursday (April 6, 2000) at Morrow County Hospital.
He was born in Johnstown, Pa., May 27, 1910, to the late Edward and Alouisa Weiss.
He moved to Mount Gilead from Arizona in 1982. He worked on dairy farms until retiring.
He is survived by his wife Grace Denson Weiss, whom he married Aug. 15, 1931; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Eleanor Weiss, Marengo, and Harry and Sandy Weiss, Arizona; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lorraine Saunders, Lewis Center, Marguerite and Jim Wilde, Thorp, Wisc., and Linda and Gary Pupp, Larson, Wisc.; a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Jenny Weiss, Coudersport, Pa.; and 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Weiss; and three sisters Mary Weiss, Julie Miller and Louise Palmiteer.
Calling hours were held at Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Michael Olinger officiating. Burial followed in Butte Cemetery near Marengo.
Ruth M. "Marge" Wells
Ruth M. "Marge" Wells, 80, Johnstown, died Friday (February 2, 2001) at her home. A member of the First Baptist Church of Sunbury, she is survived by Dick, her loving husband of 60 years; children, Sharon (Jack) Phillips of Bladensburg, Linda (Paul) Rohr of Johnstown, and John (Cindy) Wells of Dublin; grandchildren, Jeri (Wesley) Pitt, Loren (Anne) Phillips, Randy (Laurie) Rohr, and Brian (Shanta) Rohr); and by eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville where services were held with the Pastor Larry A. Griffin officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
