James Smith
James T. “Jim” Smith, 61, of Pataskala, died Thursday (Aug. 1, 2002) at St. Ann’s Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Welch, W. Va.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Rosalind L. “Rose” Smith; five children, Gary Kennedy of Powell, Peggy and Larry Smith of Delaware, Chris Kennedy of Coshocton, Becky Smith of Columbus and James T. Smith Jr. of Newark; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Sparks of Conway, S.C., Joyce and Herman Sparks of Newport News, Va., and Flossie Morgan of Superior, W. Va.; three brothers, Charles and John Smith of California and William Smith of Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, where services will be Monday at 2 p.m., the Rev. William VanMeter officiating. Burial will be in Pataskala Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Mid-Ohio Branch, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228-4102.

Loretta Stout
Loretta Katherine Orthoefer Stout, 91, of Delaware, died Tuesday morning (Dec. 24, 2002) at her daughter’s residence in Cardington.
She was born on April 5, 1911, to George and Matilda (Pifher) Orthoefer. She was a 1928 graduate of Sacred Hearts Business School. She moved to Delaware in 1931 from Rome, Ohio. As a homemaker, she assisted with the family farm, and she belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Senior Citizen Club.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Loretta "Sue" and Jerry Keys of Cardington and Mary and Charles Layton of Fredericktown; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Stout of Delaware, Joe and Jane Stout of Sunbury, and Chuck and Shirley Stout of Marion; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Daniel Stout, on January 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one grandson; four brothers, Joe, George, Victor and John Orthoefer; and two sisters, Pauline Decker and Josephine Lusch.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 2 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., with the Rev. Kevin Kavanagh officiating.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center.

Margaret Reisinger
Margaret E. Reisinger, 86, of Delaware, died Thursday morning (Dec 26, 2002) at Grady Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born March 27, 1916, in Ironton to L. Pearl Bennett and Mayme (Jacks) Bennett. She was employed with the City Of Delaware Utility Department for 23 years and lived in Delaware most of her life. She was a member of the William Street United Methodist Church, Park Avenue Senior Citizens Center, Business Professional Women, Ostrander O.E.S, and was past Worthy High Priestess for the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances and Sue, both of Delaware; a son, Stephen B. of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Jamie, Kyle, Stephen, Megan Reisinger and Christine Creech; and three great-grandchildren, Kody, Kylee, and Corby Creech.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Olivia Bennett.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., with a White Shrine of Jerusalem service at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sharon Beattie officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the William Street United Methodist Church elevator fund; envelopes available at the funeral home.

Dean Leiter
Dean Jefferson Leiter, 82, of Broadway, formerly of the Delaware area, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Riverside Methodist Hospitals.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy as an infantry landing craft commanding officer, then graduated from Ohio State University in 1947. He was a retired dairy farmer, a Na-Churs liquid fertilizer distributor, and a former member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Francie and Dale DeCarlo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jenny Leiter, and Duane and Kathleen Leiter; one brother and sister-in-law, Will and Jennie Leiter; a sister-in-law, Renie Bayless; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death in 1993 by his wife, Marjorie I. Leiter; a brother, Elmer; and a brother-in-law, Russ Bayless.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., followed by a memorial service with Pastor Wayne Guynn officiating. Private burial will be in Pleasant Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Annabelle Potts
Annabelle L. Potts, 81, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at her home in Sunbury.
She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Columbus to Lafe and Blanche (Barnes) Jarvis. She graduated from Central High School in Columbus, was a homemaker and former cafeteria worker for Columbus City Schools. She moved to the Sunbury area in 1987, enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, and collecting bears and elephants.
Mrs. Potts is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph L. and Sharon Potts, Fayetteville, N.C., Mark E. and Charlyne Potts, Columbus, Keith A. and Karen Potts, Hilliard, and Gary L. and Suzanne Potts, Westerville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda A. and Norval Derenburger, Pickerington, and Jeanette and Jeffrey Harris, Cypress, Texas; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three expected great-grandchildren.
She was accompanied in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank “Joe” Potts. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Merrill and Roland; and a sister, Eilene Dalton.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio routes 3 and 61, Sunbury, where services will immediately follow. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 39 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015.

Joe Potts
Frank J. “Joe” Potts, 82, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at his home in Sunbury.
He was born May 8, 1920, in Glendale, to Frank and Garnett (Muchmore) Potts. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and worked for 40 years as an analyst for Rockwell International. He enjoyed euchre, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph L. and Sharon Potts, Fayetteville, N.C., Mark E. and Charlyne Potts, Columbus, Keith A. and Karen Potts, Hilliard, and Gary L. and Suzanne Potts, Westerville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda A. and Norval Derenburger, Pickerington, and Jeanette and Jeffrey Harris, Cypress, Texas; a sister, Helen McCarty, Upper Arlington; a brother, Harry Potts of Fort Worth, Texas; and 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three expected great-grandchildren.
He was accompanied in death by his wife of 62 years, Annabelle Jarvis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio routes 3 and 61, Sunbury, where services will immediately follow. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Kenneth Shenefield
Kenneth Myron Shenefield, 85, formerly of Marion, died Friday morning (Feb. 7, 2003) at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware.
He was born April 27, 1917, in Meigs County to Edna Shenefield and lived in Marion County for 48 years. He was a welder employed by the U.S. Navy at the Pearl Harbor naval yards and docks from 1942 to 1943. He was a welder for Marion Power Shovel and a caretaker for Glenside Fruit Farm for Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a member of Prospect Street United Methodist Church in Marion and Stratford St. Paul United Methodist Church in Delaware. He was a member of the Delaware Moose Lodge and The Steel Workers Retirement Club No. 1949.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Myron and Billie Shenefield of Delaware, and Joe and Lynette Shenefield of Georgia; a sister and brother-in-law, Leah and Ellsworth Bailey of Marion; four grandchildren, Haven Shenefield and his wife, Tonya, of Galion, Jason Shenefield and his wife, Karen, of Delaware, and Sarah and Emily Shenefield of Georgia; six great-grandchildren, Casey, Samantha, Sarah, Shannon, Amanda and Aaron Wesley Shenefield; former daughter-in-law, Jennie Lucas of Georgia; many friends and kind caretakers at the Sarah Moore Home.
He was preceded in death in 1996 by his wife, Ruth Iris, whom he married Sept. 3, 1938.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at Marlborough Cemetery.

Dr. Charley Hall
Dr. Charley Hall, 69, of Ostrander, died unexpectedly Thursday evening (June 19, 2003) in the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 7, 1934, in Columbus to Charles and Hilda Blakesley Hall, now deceased.
He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and was a psychologist for Senior Life Consultants and a three-year resident of the Ostrander area, moving here from Columbus. He was a devoted OSU fan and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Leah; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark of London and John and Melanie of Oveido, Fla.; two grandchildren, Gavin and Abbey of Oveido, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Stemper of Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Hall of Sunbury; a nephew, Steve, of Sunbury; and many loving in-laws and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hall, and a brother, John.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., with a sharing and remembrance service to follow at 4 p.m.

Ellen A. Martin
Ellen A. Martin, 72, of Delaware, died Friday morning (Aug. 29, 2003) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 30, 1930 in Outville to Walker and Lula (Price) Fletcher. She was a 1949 graduate of Hartford School in Croton and attended Sunbury Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Martin worked as a press operator for T & N Cleaners, retiring in 1989. She was an avid bingo player and could play 25 cards per bingo round. She also enjoyed bowling, darts, and playing pool.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Rocky and his wife, Connie of Crestline, and Rodney of Edison; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ray Young of Richwood; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jay and his wife, Marilyn of Sunbury, Ned also of Sunbury, and Ted and his wife, Nancy of Delaware; and a sister, Jill Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her father; and husband, Marvin.
Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., in Delaware, where services will follow with the Rev. Gerald Davis officiating. Burial will be in Marlborough Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Nicole Goodman
Nicole Lee Viers Goodman, 30, of Delaware, died unexpectedly at her home Friday (Oct. 3, 2003).
She was born July 14, 1973 in Columbus to Tom and Pamela (Smith) Viers. She graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1991. She received her L.P.N. degree from Marion Technical College School of Nursing. She especially enjoyed working with the elderly.
She enjoyed her family, friends, collectibles, scrap booking, and the opportunity to watch her children grow.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Goodman; children, Hannah Lynn and Michael James, and step-son, Tyler David; parents; Pam and Bryan Bodager of Waverly, and Tom Viers of Lewis Center; four bothers, Eric and Andrew Bodager, of Waverly, and Tommy and Matt Viers, of Delaware; grandparents, Chuck and Kathleen Smith, of Delaware, and May and Jack Viers, of Delaware, and Clara and Dale Bodager, of Jeromesville, Ohio; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6 -8 p.m. Monday at the Robinson Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Tom VanBrunt officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tyler, Hannah and Michael Goodman Education Fund, c/o Robinson Funeral Home 32 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015.
