Doris A. Miller. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene of Canton with Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the church one hour before services on Monday from 10-11 a.m. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the building fund a the First Church of the Nazarene.

Ethel Mae Hooten
Ethel Mae Hooten, age 72 passed away Tuesday at the Massillon Community Hospital. She was born Sunday April 28, 1929 in Sellers, AL to the late Sud Bertha (Bell) McPherson and moved to Massillon in 1950. As a homemaker most of her life was spent in Canton-Massillon area. A son Eddie James Hooten preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by daughter, Linda M. Hooten; sons, Murray (Sheri) Hooten, Timmie Hooten all of Canton, Dennis (Paula) Hooten, Jerry (Debbie) Hooten both of Brooklyn Park, MN, Willie Hooten Jr. of California; sisters, Florence Brown of Westland, MI, Bertha Nash of Massillon; brother, Leander McPherson of Massillon; former husband, Willie Hooten of Canton; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Brooks Funeral Home in Massillon. Friends may call at the funeral home from Noon until 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

June Evans
June Evans, age 61, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2002 after a lengthy illness. June retired from the Canton City School System. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, J.L. and Audrey Johnson; step-mother, Nettie Johnson; two brothers, Nora Johnson and Eligah Johnson; two sisters, Evon Hopkins and Brenda Smith; special brother-in-law, Roger Evans. She leaves to cherish in her memory her loving and devoted husband, Eugene S. Evans of 42 years; one son, Kenneth E. Evans,; one daughter, Michelle A. Evans; grandchildren, Tantrail Evans, Kenneth Evans Jr., Julian Evans, Jordan Evans, Juneita Evans, and Shawna Umbles; one great grandchild, DaeJon Compton; three sisters, Lillian (David) Pitts of Pompano Beach, FL., Linda (James) Thompson of Columbus, OH., and Minnie Fagens of Enigma, GA; host of special in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kathleen A. Cassie Werbeck, age 59, of Massillon, OH, passed away Friday morning in the University Hospital in Cleveland. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Reed Funeral Home.
Keith A. Passwaters
Keith A. Passwaters, age 31, of Canton, passed away Wednesday January 2, 2002, in Aultman Hospital. He lived in the Canton area all of his life and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his mother, Ellen in 1992; fraternal grandparents, Russell and Lenora Passwaters; maternal grandfather, Charles F. Shriver. He is survived by his father, Bruce; brother, Bruce Jr; stepmother, Irma Jo, all of Canton; two stepsisters, Nina Drivas and Kimberly Iafelise; maternal grandmother, Patricia Shriver; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Earl B. Jack Funeral home with Pastor Paul Brady officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Lenise Denee' Smith age 3, God's little angel, was born on January 26, 1998, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2001. Margaret Lucille Kraus Wickstrom
Margaret Lucille Kraus Wickstrom, age 81, of Corryton, TN passed away Friday January 4, 2002. She was born in Toledo, OH and spent much of her life in Canton, OH. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls, and retired from General Electric Credit Corp. after 25 years service. Preceded in death by husband, Leonard Wickstrom, brothers, Herbert and Lester Kraus. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sue Wickstrom of Corryton, TN and Larry and Laura Wickstrom of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Eric, Kurt, and Lauren Wickstrom. Nicholas Sweet
Nicholas Allyn Ray Sweet, infant son of Nicole Murray and Rusty Sweet of Canton, OH, passed away shortly after birth on Friday morning in Mercy Medical Center. Besides his parents, he is survived by grandparents, Sandy and Mickey Murray of Canton, Albert W. Sweet of Enterprise OR and Laura Jones of Virginia; aunt and uncle, Michele and Tom Rohrig and uncles, Joe and Gary Murray, all of Canton. There will be no calling hours or services. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas A. Vitale
Thomas A. (Tony) Vitale, age 82, of Canton, passed away Friday morning at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Cherry Valley, PA and had lived in Canton most of his life. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was retired from Bureau of Workers Compensation as an Investigator. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. Member of the DAV St. Mihiel Chapter #6, American legion Post #44 of Canton. In recognition of his devoted services to veterans, he was made Veteran of the Year 2000 by the Greater Canton Veteran Council. He was Captain of the Honor Guard. He was a professional musician, having played for numerous bands in this area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Nicolina (Lipari) Vitale; son, Frank Vitale. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Spataro) Vitale, to whom he was married 56 years; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Susie Vitale of North Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Daniel Satariano of Brecksville, OH; two brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph Vitale of Arizona, Vincent and Molly Vitale of Canton; one sister, Mary Penney of North Canton; six grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Joseph Vitale and Nicholas, Christopher and Matthew Satariano; also a number of godchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Bishop as celebrant. Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #44 of Canton, 1633 Cleveland Ave. N., Canton, OH 44703 or the DAV St. Mihiel Chapter #6, 2811 17th St. SW, Canton, OH 44706. The DAV and the American Legion will hold a Military Graveside Service at the cemetery.
Vilma F. Obrovac
Vilma F. Obrovac, age 74, of 510 High Ave. SW, died Thursday. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she had been a Canton resident most of her life. She was a 1945 graduate of St. John's High School, and she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was the widow of Michael Obrovac who died in 1962. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Hedy and Michael Dolan of Canton; three sons, Nicholas Obrovac of Auburn, WA, George Obrovac of Green Bay, WI, and Michael Obrovac of Canton; four grandchildren, Manda Dolan, Marko Obrovac, Amanda Obrovac, and Sam Obrovac. Preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian O'Neill, Nellie Brown and Helen Ferry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Klingler as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home.
