Anna Mae McKinney
Anna Mae McKinney, age 79, a resident of New Dawn Health Care Center, passed away there Friday evening after an extended illness. She was born in Mineral City, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Jennie Maxwell Mathey, and was a life resident of this area. She was retired from Dover Molded Products, after 28 years service, where she worked in the Shipping Receiving Depts. Mrs. McKinney was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde McKinney, on Feb. 19, 1985. Survived by her daughter, Karen Byrer of Canton; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Beverly McKinney of Dover; four grandchildren, Don Byrer and his wife Sara, Paula McKinney, Greg Byrer and his wife Kelly, and their children Ashleigh and Joseph, and Robin Aubihl and her husband Josh. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Eugene S. Schnierer officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Anne I. Cantley
Anne I. Cantley, age 84, of East Canton, passed away Saturday morning, January 5, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center.
Born January 31, 1917 in Glen Jean, WV, to the late Jacob and Katherine (Dominec) Capp. Anne was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Darlene Cantley of East Canton; grandson and spouse, James and Amy Cantley of Louisville; two granddaughters, Emily Joyce and Sarah Elizabeth Cantley; two nieces, Wanda Droppleman of Fayetteville, WV, Annette Jennings of Beckley, WV; nephew, Joseph B. Scott of Glen Jean, WV. Preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. John Zuzik as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton.

Carol Daveen Bodnar
Mrs. Carol Daveen Bodnar, age 65, of Holton, passed away January 3, 2002, at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Livonia. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Phillip. Surviving are her husband, Robert Bodnar of 42 years of marriage; children, Timothy (Linda) Bodnar of Palm City, FL, Carissa (Michael) Ashburn of Ostrander, OH and Lynn (Michael) Williams of Farmington Hills, MI; ten grandsons, Nathan, Luke, Mark, Joshua, Willie, Robbie, Michael, Bobby, Dougy, and Anthony; half sisters, Wanda, Joanne, and Carla. Being an avid fisherman, she was known as Fisherlady on the Internet. She greatly enjoyed crafts, golf, and her dog, Angel. Her joy was her family with whom she was very involved. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, MI, 49442. Visitation will be Monday, January 7th from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Cancer Society. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Muskegon, MI.
Clara L. Hartenstein
Clara L. (Restaino) Hartenstein, age 73, of Canton, passed away early Wednesday morning after a sudden illness. She was a life resident of Canton, a graduate of McKinley High School in 1946 and a member of St. John Catholic Church. She was a retired employee of the Timken Co. as a secretary and was employed for over 24 years. She is survived by three sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Leyhe and Dr. Mary Restaino, and Betty and Ron Williams, all of Canton; her husband, William Hartenstein; his family, Robert and William Hartenstein, both of Canton, Charles Hartenstein of Carrollton, OH, John Hartenstein of Massillon, Beverly and William Sander of Canton; a nephew, Michael Hofacker of Canton. Her services were held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Ronald Klingler officiating. Entombment was in North Lawn Cemetery. The Rossi Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
David Trentman
David Trentman, age 53, of Canton, a wonderful loving husband and father, passed away Saturday morning after courageously fighting a deadly disease until the end. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed. David was an Army veteran, member of the Automobile Dealers Assoc. and an employee of Rankl and Reis Motors of Canton. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lorraine (Morrison) Trentman and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include his loving wife of the home, Connie (Siegfried) Trentman; his loving son, David E. Trentman of the home; father, Thomas E. Trentman of Mississippi; three brothers, Tom, Mike and Dan Trentman, all of Memphis, TN; one sister, Sue Ware of Mississippi; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also surviving. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to all of the loving family, friends, doctors and everyone associated with hospice services that cared so lovingly for David until his death. Also a special thanks for the generosity and compassion shown by the Rankl and Reis Motors Family. Also a special thanks to Charlies Angels, Cindy, Joanie and Lynn, who loved him so deeply. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Kidron Mennonite Cemetery. Dixie I. Kahrig
Dixie Irene (Ady) Kahrig, age 28, of Brewster, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, the result of a fire in her home. Born July 13, 1973, in Canton, OH, she was a member of the New Philadelphia Church of Christ, a member of the ASA Softball League and was a former nurses aide. Preceded in death by her father, Donald Ady; one sister, Dawn Rayleen Ady; grandmother, Edna Ault; grandfathers, Frank Condo, Oscar Ady and Floyd Ault; her mother-in-law, Mary Kahrig. Mrs. Kahrig is joined in death by her children, Alyssa Sky Kahrig, Zachary Alan Ady-Kahrig, Keyawnu Lawrence Kahrig, Dawson Ray Ady, Bryce Nicholos Kahrig and infant, Mariah Irene Kahrig. Survivors include her husband, Christopher Kahrig and son, Corey Ady of the home; her mother, Shirley Ady and twin sister, Dawn Ady, both of Brewster; sister and brother-in-law, Norene Kouth and Mike Marsh of Massillon; sister, Annette Nupp of Bolivar; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bryan and Birget Kouth of Washington, and Scott and Kim Ady of Brewster; grandmother, Mary Condo. There are her father-in-law, Francis Kahrig of Canton; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha and Brian Simon of Canal Fulton and a host of friends also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the 38th Street Church of Christ, 3904 38th St. NW, Canton, OH 44718, with Chaplain Samuel McConkey and Ministers Lance Lindenberger and Glenn Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Stanwood Cemetery. Calling hours in the church Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Ronald L. Bryant, Stark County Firefighter's Association Chaplain and Chaplain Samuel McConkey will host a Memorial service for all safety personnel Monday at 6 p.m. in the 38th Street Church of Christ.

Doris A. Miller. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene of Canton with Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the church one hour before services on Monday from 10-11 a.m. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the building fund a the First Church of the Nazarene.
Eileen (Irvine) Burns
A servant of the Lord, Eileen R. (Irvine) Burns was called to her rest Friday, Jan. 4, 2002. She was born April 16, 1933 to her late parents, William V. and Nettie M. Irvine. Mrs. Burns lived most of her life in the Canton/Massillon area, but more recently made her home in Navarre Village. She graduated from the nursing program at Massillon Washington High School and served as an LPN at the Massillon State Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1996. A member of Lighthouse Chapel, she attended Pathfinder's Sunday School class and the Craft Ladies group. She shared her nursing skills as a volunteer beside the beds of many friends and loved ones, seeing several right to the Gates of Heaven. Her other love was for animals that had been abused or neglected. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Burns who died in 1980. Mrs. Burns is survived by her friends, Gene and Martha Piccari and their children, Gene, Lisa, and Chris. Also by Pastor Gary and Lynn Smith and their children, Amy, Andrew, Aaron, and Aric. Join us in a celebration of Eileen's home going on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in West Lawn Cemetery beside her husband and parents. George E. Schick
George E. Schick, age 75, died November 7, 2001 at Silver Rose Manor in Fallon, NV. He was born December 6, 1925 in Canton, OH, to Paul and Rilma (Geib) Schick. He entered the Navy during World War II and began his engineering college education while in an officer training program during the war. He completed his education as an Engineer in 1945. He pursued a law degree while working as an engineer on the early research and development of radial tires during the late 40's for B.F. Goodrich Tire Co. He became a partner in Frease, Bishop Schick Johns Law Firm in the 50's. He moved his family from Ohio to California in the mid 60's where he continued his practice as a Patent Attorney. George was involved in the development of a number of landmark patents, one of which was the two piece extruded aluminum can in use for all beverage drinks since the 70's. After suffering a massive stroke in 1986, he closed his practice and retired. He lived in Fallon for 11 years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Schick of Fallon; daughters, Penny Sefton and Pamela Criser both of Fallon, NV, Pat Goines of Palmdale, CA; grandchildren, Mindy, Varian, John Jr., Jordan, Jennifer, and Samantha; great grandchildren, John John, Kyle and Tiffany. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Tom.
Helen L. Tressler
Helen Lane Tressler, age 89, of Sebring, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Crandall Medical Center following a short illness. She was born in Milbern, OH, Deb. 16, 1912, to the late Emil L. and Hazel (Lane) Kumnick. Helen was a former member of the WSCS and the Keystone Sunday School Class of the Upton Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was also an active member of the Monroe Street Methodist Church, which included involvement in her Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and Circle. She volunteered for the Friendly Center Service Guild and delivered Meals on Wheels for 17 years. She enjoyed sewing, homemaking, church activities, and being with her family. Survivors include daughters, Diane (Paul) Binnig of Minerva, Karen Slaughter of Mobile, AL; granddaughters, Holly Binnig of Emmaus, PA, Laura Binnig (Michael) Norman of Louisville, Kimberly (Scott) Wood of Mobile, AL, Kerri (Chris) Freeman of Mobile, AL; grandson, Kelly (Andrea) Slaughter of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Elizabeth (Harry) Robison of Salem, SC, Annabelle (George) Thomas of Montpelier, OH; six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1977 and a brother, Russell Kumnick. Funeral services will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home, Minerva, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Susan Lausch officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Hills Cemetery, Toledo, OH. Calling hours will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Howard D. Blanchard, age 83, of Kensington, OH, died Jan. 4, 2002, at Nentwick Convalescent Center, East Liverpool. Born Sept. 10, 1918, in Paris, OH, son of the late C. Lee and Alta Mae (Grise) Blanchard. Survived by his wife, Dorotha (Lotz) Blanchard of Nentwick Convalescent Center, East Liverpool; two daughters; two sons; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister. Kathleen A. Werbeck
Kathleen A. Cassie Werbeck, age 59, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday surrounded by family. Born in Warren, OH, she was raised in Newton Falls, OH. Kathleen graduated from Newton Falls High School and attended Youngstown University. After 18 years of dance training, she went on to teach dance classes. Most recently, she was employed by Ziegler's Bolt and Nut House as an inventory processor. Previously, she had been a unit buyer for Sears, Roebuck Co. Residing in Massillon, OH, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert Patterson and Loretta McLaughlin Patterson. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, William D. Werbeck; five children, Patrick Werbeck and his wife, Lisa, of Cleveland Heights, OH, Shawn Werbeck and his wife, Sandra, of Massillon, OH, Nicole Werbeck and her husband, Bryan Quinn, of Silver Spring, MD, Darrin Werbeck and his wife, Nicole, of Suffield Twp., OH, Ryan Werbeck and his wife, Lisa, of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren, Courtney and Shelby Werbeck; one brother, Thomas Patterson and his wife, Ali, of Cortland, OH. She considered her five, successful children to be her greatest accomplishment in life. Her generosity, support and love will always be remembered. Marla R. Dyer, age 59, of Canton, was called home suddenly to be with her Lord and Savior Friday morning in Aultman Hospital. Born in Canton, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and the late Vera J. Baxter. She was a 1960 graduate of North Canton Hoover High School and worked for the last 20 years at the Stark County Board of M.R.D.D. Marla was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a St. Peter's marriage sponsor couple. She hosted a Neighborhood Bible Study, was involved in Marriage Encounter, and was a foster parent for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Donald P. Dyer of the home; sons, Trent D. (Cathy) Dyer of Canton, Randy J. (Sandy) Dyer of Canton, Chris T. (Noelle) Dyer of Green, Adam R. (Shannon) Dyer of North Canton; daughters, Amy R. (Tim) Casline of Alliance, Molly A. Timothy J. Stephan
Timothy J. Stephan, died unexpectedly in his home. A son of the late Charles A. and Jeannette (Harper) Stephan. He was a life resident of the Canton area, graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1956. He was formerly employed by Hercules Engines, Consolidated Freightways and United Realty. He was a member of the American Legion, Canton Post #44. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Stephan in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Vera Heisler-Stephan, to whom he was married 3 1/2 years; one son, Todd Stephan of Wooster; four daughters and sons-in-law, Terrie Walton of Wooster, Marie and Doug Zeffer of Ann Arbor, MI, Patsy and Rick Leiter of Creston, OH, Lisa and Alvin Rehm of Wooster; eight grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Ann Stephan of Plymouth, MN, James and Erika Stephan of Canton.
