Allison Cook
Allison Ted Cook, age 75, of Canton, died Wednesday morning in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born Feb. 12, 1926, in Washington Twp., OH, to his parents the late George and Gracie Cook. He was retired from Republic/LTV Steel after 42 years of service. Preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Gene Cook. Survivors include his wife, Beula of the home, with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Nancy Gordon of Canal Fulton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ronald Muller of Canton and Linda and Tim Gaylor Sr. of Navarre; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Dr. Roger S. Alber officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill. Calling hours in the funeral home Sunday 2-5 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday from 12 Noon-1 p.m.
Alma E. Wittmer
Alma E. Wittmer, age 75, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002. She was born in Holmes County, OH, on Feb. 28, 1926, to the late Eli and Emma (Troyer) Schlabach. She was a member of the Pleasant View Amish-Mennonite Church, faithfully attending as long as health permitted. Preceded in death by her husband, John and son-in-law, J. Stephen King. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Iva and John Mast of North Canton, Martha and Marvin Miller of Pennsylvania and Edna King of Hartville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin of Brimfield, Daniel of Carrollton and Henry Schlabach of Delaware. Friends may call Saturday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the church with Homer Zook officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Annie R. Phillips
Annie R. Phillips, age 91, of Louisville, passed away Thursday January 17, 2002., at Green Meadows Health Wellness Center, Louisville. She was born in Brownwood, NC., June 22, 1910 to the late James and Sarah (Green) Miller. She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. Preceded in death by her husband, Calvin in 1981; and a daughter, Sarah Church in 1996. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Rex Hurley of Anderson, SC., Joyce and Don Brown of Canton, Ginger Brooks of Massillon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kandi Phillips of Malvern, Ray and Rachael Phillips of El Paso, TX; two half sisters; one half brother; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home with Rev. DeLanie Young officiating. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Louisville.

Annis I. Miller. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Kimm officiating. Burial will be in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday 5-8 p.m. Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother touched so many lives as she passed through this life. Many people knew her as a special friend, grandma and the candy lady as everywhere she went she wanted to give a kiss to someone, so she handed them salt water taffy, a kiss from her to them. She touched so many lives, made a vast number of friends and most of all she was the best mom, grandma and great-grandma that anyone could ever ask for. She went the extra mile, she loved like nobody could love and had a great love for God. She will always be remembered for the love she had for everyone, everywhere. We Love You.
Brandon Tournoux
Brandon S. Tournoux, the precious four day old son of Brad Tournoux and Brenda Allshouse, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002 in Akron Children's Hospital following a valiant struggle for life. Besides his parents, Brandon is survived by two sisters, Brandy and Brittany; his grandparents, Clayton and Beth Allshouse, Brenda Lillo, Scott Tournoux and Kathy Tournoux; and several aunts and uncles. A private services for Brandon will be conducted on Saturday with Pastor Daniel M. Fair of Hartville Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home of Louisville.

Dorothy A. Rutledge, age 77, of Carrollton, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 in Carroll Health Care Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will follow in Sandy Valley Cemetery at Waynesburg. Frances E. Peters
Frances E. Peters, age 85, of Waynesburg, passed away peacefully Wed. evening. Born in Malvern, a daughter of the late James and Ethel Slagle Moore, she had been a longtime resident of the Waynesburg area, living the last seven years in Rose Lane Health Center. Frances was a homemaker and retiree of U.S. Ceramic Tile of East Sparta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on Dec. 10, 1990. Frances and Paul were active for many years in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waynesburg. She was a quiet lady who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. With Paul, she hosted many great family holidays meals. She was a second mom and grandma to her sister's children. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Moore and Ruth Davies. Aunt Frances is survived by two very special nieces and their husbands, Dennis and Judy Potts and Ronald and Janet Campbell, and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff of Rose Lane who showed much kindness and concern. Services will be conducted Mon. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew A. Diehl officiating. Interment in Bethlehem Cemetery. Iva L. Marty, age 90, of Canton, died Friday, January 18, 2002, in the St. Luke's Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Daughter of the late Howard and Mellissa (Hickenbottom) Moffett. She was a Canton area residence since 1946. Member of the Southwest Church of Christ. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Marty in 1984; a daughter, Betty June Wagner; a grandson, Timothy Lee Marty; one sister and one brother. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Howard Eugene and Vivian Marty of Canton; a son-in-law, Enos Wagner of Canton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sarah Delma and Ray Ward of Canton, Fern Dimit of North Canton; one brother, Howard L. Moffett of Canton. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave., with John H. Ahmed officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. There will be calling hours at the church on Saturday 1-4 p.m. and from 5:30 until time of services at 7 p.m. Burial will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron. Virginia B. Howell
Virginia B. Howell, age 78, of Canton, died Thursday afternoon in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born on January 5, 1924, to her parents the late Evart and Margaret Beck. She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple, was retired from the Hoover Co. and was a member of D.A.R. and the Pilot Knob Women's Club. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence and two bothers, Evart Blaine Beck Jr. and Richard Beck. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Rodney Royer of Dalton; three sons and daughter-in-law, Dana Jackson of Texas, John Padermos of Spain, Larry and Michelle Howell of Canton; one stepdaughter, Linda Summe of Florida; four grandchildren, Shelley, Christopher, Tyler and Jessica; two step-grandchildren, Bridgett and Bryan; three sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene Rodman of Michigan, Janice Tressell of Canton, Dorothy Grace and Peter Rohall of Canton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Joan Beck of Florida, Raymond and Sue Beck of East Canton, Robert and Carol Beck of North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Gladys Beck of East Canton. William I. Lilley
William I. Lilley, age 75, of Louisville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Bill was born in Middlebranch on December 27, 1926, to the late Arthur and Marie (Gottshall) Lilley. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He returned to Louisville after having worked as a Biologist for Los Angeles Co., CA for many years. Bill leaves behind his wife, Beatrice (DeMeo) Lilley of Louisville; his sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Bill Naegeli of Louisville; his brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Marilyn Lilley of Cuyahoga Falls; his sisters-in-law, JoAnne (David) Alberts of Bricktown, NJ and Bonita (Charles) Witmer of Louisville; his brother-in-law, Anthony (Carol) DeMeo of Canton; 10 nieces and three nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Vada Lilley. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, January 20th., at 3:00 p.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville with Rev. Fr. Joseph Zamary officiating.
Karna J. Neff
Karna J. (McFarland) Neff, age 76, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday in Aultman Hospital. Karna was born October 10, 1925 in Canton, daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Jackson) McFarland. Karna was an employee of the Stark County Probate Court for 39 years, where she enjoyed serving the public. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Canton. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Neff in 1967. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Neff of North Canton, Dale Neff and Fiancee Cindy Timberlake of Canton, Richard and Paula Neff of Canton; four grandsons whom she loved dearly, Rob, Kyle and Brett of North Canton and Eric of Canton; one brother, William (Newt) McFarland) of Canton; two sisters, Betty Jo Rauch of New Albany, OH., and Susan Kirkbride of Canton. There are numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, especially Bill Sweany that will miss her dearly. Karna spent most of her adult life serving the public. It was her desire to continue that service following her death through the donation of her body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine. A Memorial service for Karna will be held Sunday January 20, 2002 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church on the corner of Sixth Street and Dartmouth in Canton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Paul's United Methodist Church 2705 6th St. SW Canton, The Learning Resources Center at Cedar Elementary School 2823 9th St SW. Canton, the Animal Attic Resale Store, 3124 9th St SW. Canton, or to a charity of your choice.
Russell J. Adams
Russell J. Adams, age 80, passed away January 15, 2002. He was born in Canton, OH., and graduated from McKinley High School. Mr. Adams served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a P-47 Pilot with 377 Fighter Squadron in the 362 Fighter Group. He was shot down over France on May 23, 1944. He was held as a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft 3 for 11 months. He was then on a forced march from Sagan, Poland to Neurenberg, Germany where he was liberated. In later years he served with the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Adams was a school teacher at Hudson High School and retired in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell J. Adams Sr. and Elizabeth (nee. Zettler) Adams- Meffert; step-father, Clarence Meffert. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Doris; sons, Ken (Darlene) Adams; daughter, Kathy (Frank) Frazier; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; cousin, Carl Hummer; close friends, Art Jones, Steve Stofic, Teague Cliff, and Delton Gates; along with many other family and friends. He was a great guy. At his request there will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
