Angelo P. DeFlory
Angelo Paul DeFlory, age 79, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2001, in Mercy Medical Center after complications from an automobile accident. Born in Magnolia, September 21, 1921, he had been a resident of Canton and North Canton most of his life. A member of Little Flower Catholic Church and an active member of the men's club of the church; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Canton Council #341, 4th Degree, and the Canton Ex-Newsboys. A retired employee of the Transue Williams Company in Alliance; Angelo was also a shoe repairman with shops in Alliance and Canton. Preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Antoinette (Pasta) DiFiori; wife, Rosalie M. (Viscrean) DeFlory on January 13, 2001; brothers, Joseph and John DiFiori; sister, Helen DiMickele. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Clinton Ashby of North Canton; grandsons and spouses, Michael and Melissa Ashby of Raliegh, NC., Bryan and Kristen Ashby of North Canton, Robert and Steven Ashby both of West Toluca Lake, CA; sisters, Mrs. Mary Guardabascio of Florida, Mrs. Jennette Guardabascio of Canton; brother, Thomas DiFiori of Canton; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday from 6-9 p.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Kevin Fete as celebrant. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Beverly J. White
Beverly J. White, age 60, of Canton, passed away suddenly Friday, August 10, 2001, at her home. She was born March 7, 1941, in Canton to the late Paul B. and Genevive E. White; and was a life resident of Canton. She was a graduate of Glenwood High School; and Baldwin Wallace College with a B.A. degree in Education. She received a degree of Master of Education from Kent State University in1990. She was retired from the Stark County Human Services Dept. and was currently enjoying employment at the Value City Dept. Store. She was a life time member of Church of the Savior United Methodist where she was very involved in the Mission Program. She worked with the Hunger Task Force, and was past president of the League of Women Voters. She was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing current events. She is survived by her brother Paul, and sister-in-law, Susan White; sister, Beth Anne White; nephew, Bradley and his wife, Lisa White; niece, Joy White all of Canton; and two cousins from Michigan. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sarah Cerreto officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to Church of the Savior United Methodist.
Biaggo A. Schiavone
Biaggo A. Schiavone, age 76, of Canton, passed away Friday evening in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Calling hours are being planned for Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home. A full obit. will be published in the Monday paper. The Rossi Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Cynthia A. (Chuchanis) Lockhart. Friends may call Sunday (today) 5-8 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home, where Trisagion Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Daniel C. Rocovits Sr
Daniel Charles Rocovits Sr., age 81 of Reno, Nevada, passed away July 14, 2001 following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born December 10, 1919 in Mapleton, OH to the late John and Lodovica Rocovits. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alex and George of Canton and Walter of Yucaipa, CA. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Esther (Fry); four sons, David (Amy) and Dale of Reno, Nevada, Dennis (Mary Jo) of Long Beach, CA., Daniel (Su-Jen) of Taipei, Taiwan; one daughter, Linda Shanna of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas (Beverly) and John of California; and one sister, Anne (Louis) Amatangelo of Canton; also one sister-in-law, Anna Rocovitz; also of Canton. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. He was a builder of homes in the Canton area for many years moving to Long Beach, CA in 1962. He retired from Rancho Los Amigos where he enjoyed immensely the work he was doing, designing and building furniture for handicapped children who were hospitalized. In 1995 he and his wife moved to Reno, Nevada. Services were held at the First Church of God and interment was in Mountain View Cemetery in Reno. He is dearly loved and greatly missed by family and friends.

Katherine Helt
Katherine Helt of Massillon died Friday. Katherine was born in Italy to the late John and Maria (Petrolio) Pugliano, was raised in Wellsville, OH., and spent her adult life in Steubenville. She owned and operated Kay's Market in Steubenville. She was a member in the Women's and Professional Organization. Her husband, John Helt passed away in 1985; and brothers, Anthony, Pete and Dominic. She is survived by daughters, Marian Knowles of Massillon, Mrs. Wm (Ann) Long of Circleville; son, Richard White of Massillon; sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Angie) Frank of East Liverpool, Mary DiCello of Wellsville; brother, Joe Pugliano of Schenectady, NY; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Fr. Thomas Cebula will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Steubenville. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
Kathleen Ann Mast
Kathleen Kathy Ann Mast, age 53; and daughter of Ray Jr. and Gladys Mast, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 10, 2001, at Majora Lane Care Center. She struggled about 26 years with the debilitating disease, Leukodystrophy. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Past member of the Berlin Mennonite Church and past member of First Mennonite Church of Canton, Ohio. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Berlin Cemetery with Pastor Ernie Hershberger officiating, followed by a lunch at the Berlin Mennonite Church. After lunch, there will be an informal time of sharing memories of Kathy. She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Rod and wife, Gail; Timothy and wife, Doris; nieces; nephews; Aunts; Uncles; and many friends. Margaret J. Hammen
Margaret J. Hammen, age 84, of Canton, OH., passed away Friday, August 10, 2001, in Akron General Hospital following an automobile accident. Born in Canton on March 15, 1917, she was the second wife of Lawrence E. Hammen, to whom she was married for 27 wonderful years, and who passed away November 10, 1988. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Canton; and was a former Gray Lady for the American Red Cross. She has no immediate family. Two close friends, who will dearly miss her are Annabelle Jones of Anniston, Alabama and Frances Streets of Canton, OH; and her dog and friend, Mookie. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. Carey E. Sloan III officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Tuesday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
Robert E. Everett
Robert E. Everett, age 64, of Canton, died Friday night in his home after an extended illness. Born in Massillon, he had been a Canton resident for 30 years. He was employed by Pittsburgh Logistics Systems, Inc., and formerly by Republic Engineered Steels. Bob was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survived by his wife, Eva Everett of the home; a daughter, Lisa Everett of Canton; a son, Robert J. Everett of N. Canton; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jack McNamara of Canton; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Susie Everett, and Larry Everett all of Massillon, and Michael and Ellen Everett of Brewster, OH. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Klingler as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations my be made to St. John's Church.

Sylvia M. Brenner, age 90, of East Sparta, died Saturday morning at Canton Christian Home following a brief illness. She was a member of Howenstine Christian Church. Preceded in death by her husband, William Brenner and two brothers, Edward and William Bachtel. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Peter Edwards of Santa Barbara, CA, Wanda and Charles Loveless of Scottsdale, AZ; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Delma Brenner of East Sparta; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Chris Davis officiating. Burial in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m.
