C. Dale Moreland, 73, of Salem. died October 1, 2002. Preceded in death by parents, Helen (Seitz) and Roy Moreland, step-mother, Alma, daughter, Carol. Survived by wife, Kathie; son, David (Nancy); daughters, Becky, Michelle (Ben Johnson), Marsha (Jeff) Hardgrove); 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Bette Moreland Hushour (Ron), and Jean Moreland Brodell (Harold). Graduated from Lehman High School 1947, Kent State University, retired from State Farm Insurance Co., active in Gilford Lake Ruritans, Winona United Methodist Church.

Charles Tim Timberlake Callison
Charles Tim Timberlake Callison, age 54, died Monday afternoon following an extended illness. Born December 30, 1947 in Chicago, IL to the late, William Callison and Betty Callison Jones. He attended Roanoke College and was a U.S. Marine veteran. Survivors include his son, Cory Callison of El Paso, TX, who recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy as a Marine and is in The Basic School awaiting his Pensacola training to become a Marine Aviator. He also leaves behind one brother and sister-in-law, William and Anne Callison of Canton, OH and nephew and niece, Billy and Sarah; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Michael O'Bannon of San Mateo, CA. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday (TODAY) AT 4:30 p.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Rd NW, Canton, with Rev. Stephen Gifford officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mercy Medical Center Hospice, 1320 Mercy Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44708.

Cosmo Aristide
Cosmo Aristide, 66, passed away October 7, 2002. Born in Ravenna, Mr. Aristide lived in the Akron area all his life. Cosmo served in the U.S. Air Force as an electrical technician. He was employed with the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Akron, and later owned and operated Kingsley Builders retiring in 1994. He was a member of Prestwick Country Club and loved to golf with his friends including a hole in one at Oak Knoll Golf Course. Cosmo enjoyed to travel especially to San Destin, FL, Pebble Beach, CA, Spain, Hawaii and Thailand. He cherished reading, playing baseball, and golfing with his grandsons. He is survived by his, daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Christopher Helsel of Tallmadge; son, Stephen Aristide of Custer, SD; grandsons, Brett and Kyle; twin brothers, Joseph (Rose) Aristide of Ravenna and Leonard (Julia) Aristide of Stow; sister, Theresa (Jack) Bennett of Kent; uncle, Phil (Eleanor) Simone of Kent; cousin, Joe Simone of Uniontown; uncle, Tony (Carol) Simone of California and numerous other relatives. Funeral service Friday, 10 a.m. at Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave and Monroe, Tallmadge with Rev. David Zachrich officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Dale F. Pickens
Dale F. Pickens, 70, of Rt. 39, St. Marys, WV., died October 8, 2002. He was retired from the Timken Steel Company, Canton, OH. Survived by his father, his wife, Martha Sunderman Pickens; children, Dale Steven Pickens, Kirk Pickens, Juliann Bralek, John Pickens; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; three sisters. Services will be held Friday October 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Church, Pleasants County, WV. Calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Dalton J. Ott
Dalton J. Ott, of Canton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2002 at Aultman Hospital. He was born near Dover, OH on May 23, 1919, to John and Clara Ott. He was retired from Super Duper Stores as Meat Director. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University before going into the Army where he served his country during WW II. He entered the meat business with his family at age 12 and made it his lifelong career. A charter member of Greenwood Christian Church where he served actively as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Gossmar whom he wed on Oct. 9, 1946. Other survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Elaine Ott of Canton, OH, John and Kathy Ott of Wooster, OH, Dennis and Leanne Ott of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Robert Haas of Huron, OH one sister, Margaret Snyder of Walnut Hills, OH; ten grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, Harold Ott. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Amerine officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to Greenwood Christian Church.

Dorothy L. Young
Dorothy L. Young, age 79, of 4955 Higbee Ave. N.W., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 after a brief illness. Born in Marietta, OH, she was a Canton resident for most of her life. Dorothy owned and operated many beauty salons including Look Young on 30th St. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Junka. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and James Collier of Lakeland, FL; sister, Helen Merryman of Canton, OH; two grandchildren, Kimberly Maclean of Canton, OH and James Collier Jr. of Florida; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services were held and burial was in Rose Hill Memorials Gardens on Friday Oct. 4, 2002. The family and friends of Dorothy wish to express their thanks to everyone for the caring and thoughtful support they received.

Hazel Lura Monroe
Hazel Lura Monroe. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Friends may call Wednesday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. A private family committal service will be Thursday in Duncan Falls Cemetery.

Joseph S. Guenther
Joseph S. Guenther, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2002. Retired from the Terminix Company of Ohio. Mr. Guenther also served in community activities. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn, of Churchville, VA. There are no calling hours and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Lamiell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lee Ann Hill
Lee Ann Hill, age 20, of Canton, passed away Saturday at her residence following a brief illness. Born Sept. 17, 1982 in Canton. Survived by mother, Robin L. Hill of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandparents, Daniel and Linda Hill of Carrollton, Carol and Eugene Bihary of Sun City Center, FL; great-grandparents, Ethel Wells of Massillon, Ida Newman of Canton; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Brown officiating. Friends may call Wednesday (tonight) 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Louis J. Kolb
Louis J. Kolb, Jr., 82, died October 8, 2002. Funeral service Fri. 11:00 a.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home City of Green Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., (Route 619) with Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating. Interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Calling hours Thurs. 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the Star Lodge will conduct Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Max Sprinkle
Max Sprinkle, age 90, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the Laurels of Massillon following an extended illness. He was born on Feb. 9, 1912, in Adel, IA, to the late Chester and Pearl (Tawny) Sprinkle. Following a boyhood spent in Indiana and Florida, he moved to Massillon, where he resided for all of his adult years. Mr. Sprinkle was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Corp. in the European Theater. He retired as General Manager from Corundite Refactories in 1976. A past member of the Massillon Lion's Club, Mr. Sprinkle was an avid golfer and bowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Custer, Gladys Owens, Geraldine Burbank and Mabel Baird. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Vera (Besancon) Sprinkle; daughters, Cynthia Braun of Massillon, Dr. and Mrs. Ron (Janet) Saxen of Canton; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Braun) Shanklin, Danielle (Braun) Knight, Doug Saxen, Mrs. Jay (Kelle Saxen) Hofner, Rick Saxen, Julie Saxen, Craig Saxen and Meghan Saxen; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Nicholas Shanklin and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly remembered for his strong sense of family, his unconditional love, his twinkling blue eyes and his wonderful sense of humor. A Memorial service will be held Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Church of Massillon, OH or to the Salvation Army.

Oma C. Coberly
Oma Campbell Coberly, age 93, was promoted to Glory October 7, 2002. Born in Lynch Run, WV, she lived in the Canton area most of her life. She was retired from Berger Division of Republic Steel. She enjoyed outings with the Canton Seniors and Legends Care Center and was always ready for a game of Bingo. She was proud to be a soldier in the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by sons, Jim, Kenneth and Rhuel and a daughter Lucille. Survived by sons, Ernest (Pat), Jack (Helen), Eugene and Larry; and a daughter, Freda. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11 at the Don Williams Funeral Home with Major Larry Shade officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Friday prior to the service.

Other Roscoe Vance
Other Roscoe (Jack) Vance, age 82, an Army Veteran of Phoenix, born December 29, 1919 in Culloden, WV, departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Carmel Vance; his son, Dean Vance and his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Jackie Adams; six grandchildren, Christine Vance, Brandi Kwasney and her husband, Jim, DeAnn Vance, Jason and Josh Burlingame; one great-grandson, Bryse Kwasney. Jack will be loved and missed by many. Services were held in Phoenix, AZ.

Pauline V. Hart
Pauline V. Hart. Services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home. Friends may call Wednesday (tonight) 7-9 p.m.

Ralph M. Smith
Ralph M. Smith, age 89, of Canton, died Monday in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Son of the late John A. and Minnie (Weaver) Smith. He was a 1930 graduate of Waco High School. Retired from the Timken Co. in 1973 after 40 years of service, where he had served as a manager at the Timken Bearing Plant in Zanesville. He also is preceded in death by five brothers, Jay, Paul, Clark, Dean, and Carl Smith; two sisters, Betty Rinehart and Eva Carrigan. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Gogerty) to whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on July 20, 2002; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Melvin Warner of Nashport, OH, Linda and Vincent Spitale of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth Smith of Arizona, Ronald and Beverly Smith of Lake Mohawk; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Smith and Helen Smith both of Canton. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Dr. Richard Ferrell officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. or one half hour before services on Saturday (9:30-10 a.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Canton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Station #3.

S. Kathleen Morrison
Shirley Kathleen Sanders Morrison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Savior Music Fund, 120 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH 44702 or St. Mark's Episcopal Church Music Fund, 515 48th St. NW, Canton, Oh 44709. Calling hours at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market St. N., Wednesday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday an hour before the 11 a.m. service at the corner of W. Tuscarawas. Participating clergy are the Revs. Robert Buckley, George Roberts, William R. Harvey, and Carey E. Sloan III. Music director, Allen D. Lucas will play the carillonic bells and organ using favorite hymns of Kathleen's. Interment will take place Thursday afternoon at Union Cemetery, Steubenville.

Virginia J. Zitella
Virginia J. (Fonte) Zitella, former Canton resident, died Sept. 17, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Virginia is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Fonte) and Alex Garcia. Funeral services were held at Cypress Funeral Home in Illinois.

Alice F. (Leaman) King
Alice F. (Leaman) King, age 65, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday October 8, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center. She was born June 18, 1937 in Richville to H. H. and Ethel (Baum) Leaman and was a 1955 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. Mrs. King was retired from Timken Mercy Medical Center where she was an X-Ray Tech, was a member of Eden Church of the Brethren, and volunteered for the Ohio Chapter of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation. She is survived by her husband, George, whom she married February 14, 1998; a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Mary Leaman of Malvern; step son-in-law, Richard Fisher and his kids, April and Eric Fisher; nieces and nephews, Jane and Bill Jabs of Sugarcreek, Myra and Jack Justice Jr. of Dayton, Susan Previtera of North Canton, Steve Leaman of Malvern, Jim Wise and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Leaman, Grace Wise and a stepdaughter, Melanie Fisher. Funeral services will be Friday 1:00 p.m. at Eden Church of the Brethren, 4437 Richville Dr. SW with Pastor Russell Veal officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery, Paris, Ohio. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 6-9 at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton. Regena Tessmer
Regena Tessmer, age 81, of Hartville died unexpectedly Monday, October 7, 2002 after a short illness. Survived by her loving husband, Al Tessmer of 42 years. Mrs. Tessmer graduated from Urbana Junior College, later going to Ohio Wesleyan earning her bachelors degree in teaching. Later, she continued her education at Malone College earning her Masters degree. Regena was an elementary school teacher at Lake Local Schools for 13 years. Her teaching career spanned 28 years. Mrs. Tessmer was more than a teacher, she was a friend who did so much to give her best, making students work extra hard so they may surpass the rest. She was a member of the Hartville Church of the Brethren where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and a member of the choir. A winter resident of Palmetto, FL. She was active in the Lutheran Church and instrumental in fund raising for the church migrant mission. She had many hobbies including swimming, walking, playing bridge, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Continued in life through the memories of her loving family. Daughter, Vannie Lensman, daughter, Marty Bourn and son-in-law, Don Bourn, daughter, Jo Baugher and son-in-law, Rick Baugher, son, Jon Tessmer (daughter-in-law), Monica Tessmer, son, George Tessmer (daughter-in-law), Amy Tessmer. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the YMCA Lake Community Center Building Campaign, Box 1233, Hartville, OH 44632. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4:00 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. in the Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Hartville Church of the Brethren. Tommie J. Walker
Tommie James Walker, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2002.
Following an extended illness. Tommie was born on December 10, 1920 in Hattisburg, MS. He moved to Canton in 1942. Tommie was a retired employee of Republic Steel. Member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. Tommie leaves to cherish his precious memories, three brothers, James (Ruby) Hertz, Joe Hertz, all of Brooklyn, NY., Eddie Hertz of Miami, FL; step-son, Nathaniel Chester of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Debbie Dickey of Pittsburgh, PA., Betty Bell and Rosie Fitz both of Canton; special nephews, Marvin Jackson of Canton, Marvin Hardley of California; special niece, Lois Owens of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; very dear friend, Mary Jones of Canton. Funeral arrangements will be 11 a.m. Thursday October 10, 2002 at Antioch Baptist Church, 1103 7th St NE, Canton, OH. 44704, with Rev. Richard L. Jordan officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will 10-11 a.m. Thursday October 10, 2002 at the church. Family and friends will be received at 217 Warner Rd SE, Canton, OH, 44704. Remedios Olivera
Remedios Remie Olivera, age 88, of Canton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2002 at Aultman Hospital. Born in Rio Tinto, Huelva, Spain on January 19,1914 she lived most of her life in Canton. She was a homemaker and member of the Spanish American Club, Spanish American Women's Club and the Soka Gakkai International. Preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Concepcion (Flores) Cabezas; brothers, Tony and Angel Cabezas; sister, Annie Cabezas; and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pascual Olivera, Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Pascual, Jr. and Angela of Chicago, Raymond and Pamela of Canton; two grandchildren, Amy and Daniel Olivera both of Canton; sister, Emily (Eugene) Norcia of Sunnyvale, CA; brother, Manuel (Rena) Cabezas of Naples, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME with a Buddhist Memorial Service to follow at 8 p.m. In lieu flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Olivera's name to the Spanish American Women's Club Scholarship Fund, 825 Davis SW, Canton, OH 44706.

Bennie Mae Graham
Bennie Mae Graham (Lee), age 59, passed away on Oct. 6, 2002 at Aultman Hospital. She was born in Daleville, AL, and had lived in this area since 1957. She was involved in organizing Welfare Rights and was a household technician. In the later years of her life she stressed the importance of staying together and instilled that idea to her entire family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theplouis Graham; parents, Louis and Mary Lee; and sister, Mary Alice Kelly (Lee). Mrs. Graham is survived by loving daughter, Cheryl K. Graham of the home; sons, Curtis Graham, Gerald (Vicky) Graham of Newport News, VA, Christopher Graham of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Porsche' Williams (Graham) of Canton; sisters, Carrie Tarver of Bainbridge, OH, Catherine Richards, Ann Lee; brother, James Lee all of Canton; uncles, Beuford Thompson of Milwaukee, WI, Hoover Thompson of Miami, FL, Otis Thompson of Florida, George Thompson of Chicago, IL; nieces, Debra Kelly of New Rochelle, NY, Dr. Jennifer Lee Motley of Dallas, TX, Stephanie Lee of Columbus, OH; God-children, Darnell Miller, Terrell Quincy, Kevin Bonner, Jr.; special friends, Nina Burkes, Dorothy McCloud, Bernitta Stevenson, Sharlene Gourick, Barbara Divgilio; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 11, 2002 at 12 Noon at St. Mark's Baptist Church where Wilbur Allen, III will be officiating and Elder Wilbur Allen, Jr. will be eulogizing. Visitation will be held on TONIGHT from 6-9 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home. Condolences may be sent to and procession will form at: 2157 Penn Pl. NE, Canton, OH 44704. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
