Daniel J. McGurren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Calling hours will be held Tuesday (TONIGHT) 6-8 p.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home.

Hazel Lura Monroe
Hazel Lura Monroe, age 96, of Canton, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in the Hanover House following a brief illness. Daughter of the late Milton and Carrie (Raquet) Fouts. She is a graduate of Zanesville High School and the Ohio University. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, Canton. She was a teacher for 35 years of which the last 18 were with the Canton Local School District. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Monroe in 1961; one brother, Clark M. Fouts; and one step-grandchild, Scott Tarvin. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ronald Tarvin of Naples, FL; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Debbie Tarvin of Cincinnati, Brian and Lisa Tarvin of Ft. Meyers, FL; four step-great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. A private family committal service will be Thursday in Duncan Falls Cemetery.

Jo Ann Palmer
Jo Ann Brannen Palmer, age 77, of Delaware, OH, died Monday, October 7, 2002. Born September 7, 1925 in Cabin Creek, WV to the late Michael R. and Kate (Creasey) Brannen. Graduate of East Bank High School, earned B.S. degree in Education from Concord College, MA in education from Marshall University and graduate work at Miami, Akron and Kent Universities. Retired after 34 years in education working in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Canton City Schools. Survived by daughter, Kathy and Stephen Alderman of Delaware; grandchildren, Kevin, Sean and Stephanie; brother, Michael R. and Augusta Brannen of Lewiston, NY; brother-in-law, Thomas and Barbara Palmer of Carroll, OH. She moved to Delaware 15 years ago, was an avid golfer playing in leagues at Hidden Valley and Oakhaven. Member of Sarah Moore Home services board and governing board. Active member of St. Mary Church. Preceded in death by husband, Glen. Friends may call Tuesday (tonight) 6-9 p.m., prayer service at 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Delaware. Interment Wednesday 4 p.m. at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Sarah Moore Home.

Josephine C. Miku
Josephine C. Miku, age 77 of Canton died Friday, October 4, 2002. Born in Four States, WV Josephine had lived in the Canton area since 1950. In addition to her parents, the late Steve and Anna Renick, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Miku in 1978, sister, Kathrine Anderson and two brothers, Charles and Mike Renick. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Shirley (George) Freeland of Goochland, VA; son, Steve A. Miku of Massillon, OH; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Hatfield of Leesburg, FL and Virginia Boone of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Frank Renick of Akron, OH and John Renick of Mannington, WV. Private Graveside service for the family was Monday in Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1300 Christmas Seal Drive NW, Canton, OH 44709. Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Martha J. Davidson
Martha J. Davidson. Funeral services will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ Presbyterian Church Interment to follow in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Radio Ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St. W. Canton, OH 44702. Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline V. Hart
Pauline V. Hart, age 91, of Longwood, FL, formerly of Canton, passed away suddenly Monday morning in Sutton Home in Altamonte Springs, FL. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Albert and Anna Dickey Schwab, and lived all her life here, and resided in the Canton Christian Home for six years prior to moving to Florida in 1997 to live near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a 1927 graduate of McKinley High School and was a former employee of Sears Roebuck Co. where she was a clerk. Pauline was a member of First Christian Church and had been a charter member of Emmanuel Christian Church. She was a member of Canton Chapter #190, Order of Eastern Star, and the Senior Group of both Central Baptist Church and Dueber United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Wray Hart, on Oct. 14, 1981, her son, Donald W. Hart, on April 10, 2000, and two brothers, Earl and Gail Schwab. Survived by her daughter-in-law, Cindy Hart, of Altamonte Springs; her grandson, Bruce D. Hart, of Marietta, GA; and three granddogs, Max, Bailey and J.D. Services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey E. Bullock officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Canton Chapter #190, Order of Eastern Star will hold services at 6:45 p.m. Wed. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pauline's memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast Ohio, The Hanna Building, 1422 Euclid Ave., Suite 239, Cleveland, OH 44115.

Virginia J. Zitella
Virginia J. (Fonte) Zitella, former Canton resident, died Sept. 17, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Virginia is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Fonte) and Alex Garcia. Funeral services were held at Cypress Funeral Home in Illinois.

Steven T. Bowe
Steven T. Bowe, age 13, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002. Born in Canton, OH, he was a student at Taft Middle School. He attended Canton Christian Fellowship and Pegasus Horseback Riding Program. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Bowe of the home; two brothers, David Bowe, Frank (Lisa) Bowe; three sisters, Christine, Stephanie and Jessica; special cousin, Frankie Rudish; grandmother and grandfather Fulkerson of West Virginia, grandmother, JoAnn Smith of Oregon; great grandmother, Marie Rudish. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 at 8 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service. Contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.

S. Kathleen Morrison
Shirley Kathleen Sanders Morrison was born in Steubenville, OH December 1, 1929 to the late Annis Gourley Sharp Sanders Schaefer and Floyd Sanders. She graduated from Big Red High School and earned her R.N. at Canton, OH Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1950. She worked in the operating rooms there and at Mercy until accepting the pediatric nurse position with the late J. Mace Harkey M.D. She was musically active as a pianist and singer and upon graduation from Aultman she studied organ with W. Robert Morrison, newly arrived from Baltimore, MD as Minister of Music at First Methodist Church in downtown Canton (since renamed Church of the Savior United Methodist). After a courtship of four years with the encouragement of the pastor who brought Bob to Canton, Dr. Roland Gilbert Hohn, they were married February 18, 1956. Their son, R. Scott was born March 11, 1957. She taught singing for 17 years at the Colleges of Malone and at Wooster where she assisted her voice professor, Karl Trump. She also pursued studies with Dan Merriman in NYC, Burton Garlinghouse of Cleveland, and Dale Moore. She was a member of the National Association, Teachers of Singing. She was soloist at Church of the Savior United Methodist and St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Canton; AGO Festival Choir; and Temple Israel, both in Akron and Canton. She did numerous programs with her husband and baritone, James L. Powell until a stroke December 8, 1999 cut short her singing which began a graduate decline in health resulting in her passing Sunday, October 6, 2002 at age 72. She is survived by her husband; son, Scott who, with his wife, Barbara Ondo Morrison of Jacksonville, FL are parents of Caleigh Elizabeth; a sister, Carol Louise (Mrs. Edward J.) Burns of Englewood, FL; niece, Diane Burns Young of Boston and her children, Jessica and Jonathon; nephew, John Burns, wife, Jane, and their offspring, Alyssa, Hannah, and John David of Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Savior Music Fund, 120 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH 44702 or St. Mark's Episcopal Church Music Fund, 515 48th St. NW, Canton, Oh 44709. Calling hours at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market St. N., Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday an hour before the 11 a.m. service at the corner of W. Tuscarawas. Participating clergy are the Revs. Robert Buckley, George Roberts, William R. Harvey, and Carey E. Sloan III. Music director, Allen D. Lucas will play the carillonic bells and organ using favorite hymns of Kathleen's. Interment will take place Thursday afternoon at Union Cemetery, Steubenville.
