Arvine Richard Clay
Arvine Richard Clay, 70, of North Canton, passed away Friday. A graduate of Greentown High School. He was a Military Veteran and retired Mechanical Designer. Preceded in death by his parents, Arvine B. and Jeanette Clay; sisters, Jedidah Mecca and Carol Clay; and daughter, Kathlene. Survived by brothers and sisters, Ronald Clay of Solvay, NY., Michael Clay of Canton, Robert Clay of Massillon, Judy Klements of Canton, John Clay of Akron, Dennis and Donald Clay of North Canton, Linda Geier of Canton; sons, Arvine A. of New York City; and daughter Elizabeth A. of Anchorage, AK. There will be no calling hours. Interment at the convenience of the family.

Bernard Keller
Bernard 'Barney' Keller, age 85, formerly of Louisville, OH and now of Morganfield, KY passed away Friday afternoon, September 13, 2002, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. Born January 24, 1917 in Louisville to the late Bernard and Nola (Culler) Keller. Barney graduated from McKinley High School and was a paratrooper with the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a rollturner for United Engineering and Foundry in Canton and retired in 1979. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marie (Danilkovich) Keller; three daughters, April Girten of Henderson, KY; Ruth Ann Dabney of Dennison, OH., and Sandra Keller of Athens, GA; five sisters, Twila Cunningham, Arlene 'Sis' Stephens, Joanie Keller, Barbara 'Bobby' Mong and Donna Wendling; two brothers, Glenn Keller and Gene 'Buddy' Keller; four grandchildren, Brandon Girten, Annie Girten Adams, Christopher Alexander and James Dabney; five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, Milo and James Keller. A gravside service will be held Wednesday 11:00 A.M. in Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. C. David Morgan officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. in the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton.

Brandon J. Mohn
Brandon James Mohn, 16, of Minerva died Friday, September 13, 2002 from injuries sustained in a four wheeler accident. Born in Canton, August 16, 1986, he was the son of Gene and Deborah (McCrobie) Mohn Jr. He was a student at Minerva High School. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Jeremy Weikart; grandmother, Elsie Hart of Minerva; grandparents, Ellen and Gene Mohn, Sr. of Minerva; and nephew, Adrian Weikart. Funeral services will be held in the First Christian Church of Minerva at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2002 with Mr. John Bush officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Friends unable to attend may register online at our website:

Donald E. Hannan
Donald E. Hannan, 88, of Marietta, GA., and formerly of Canton, passed away September 13, 2002, after a brief hospital stay. While residing in Canton, he was a Yardsman with Penn-Con Railroad where he retired after 35 years of service; and was a member of the Ray Thomas Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marietta. In 1997, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hannan, to whom he was married for 60 years. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ruth of Auburn, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Harold Ewing of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Ron, David and Michelle Hannan; great granddaughter, Mya Hannan; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2002, in the Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends will be received 11 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Cobb County, 148 Fairground St. SE, Marietta, GA 30060.

Irene L. Purdy
Irene L. Purdy, age 84, of Canton, died Sunday morning at the Canton Christian Home following a brief illness. She was born on April 27, 1918, in Newcomerstown, OH., and had resided in the Canton area most of her life. She was an active member of the Perry Christian Church, the Crusader Bible Sunday School Class, the Young at Heart Group, and was a former Deaconess in the church. Mrs. Purdy was an active volunteer in her church and for the Western Stark County Blood Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace DeVault and her husband, Jack Purdy, who died in 1981. It was Mrs. Purdy's desire to be cremated. Her cremains will be buried next to her husband's grave at Sunset Hills Burial Park where a memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements by the Reed Funeral Home.

Jesse Lewis Brown
Jesse Lewis Brown, 25, of Minerva, died Thursday, September 12, 2002. Born in Alliance, August 2, 1977, he was the son of Lewis E. Brown of Minerva and Dianna (Cole) Walton of Mathis, TX. He was a self-employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Paige Brown of the home; Paige's mother, Shannon Brown of Minerva; sisters, Shanda Brown of Malvern, Courtney and Emilee Brown of Mathis, TX; grandparents, Glenn and Linda Brown of Minerva, Denzil and Betty Cole of Magnolia, Jerry and Barbara Merville of Louisville and Phyllis Jackson of Mathis, TX; great-grandparents, Frank and Peggy Cole of Mathis, TX. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Jackson. Funeral services will be held in the Bartley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2002, with Rev. James Huston officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday from 2-4 7-9 p.m. Friends unable to attend may register online on our website

John A. Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Monday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where members of Trinity Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.

Leslie L. Gadd
Leslie L. Gadd, 52, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002. He was born December 23, 1949, in Warren, OH, the son of Sam and Janet (Younker) Gadd. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Gadd was owner of Custom Weld Corp. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly; mother and stepfather, Janet and Ferrell Sherouse; children, Marshall, Christopher, Zachary Taff and Tom Greening; sisters, Karen and Darlene; brother, Larry Foreman; granddaughter, Stacy Jo; and great-grandchild, Kylle. A memorial gathering will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 at Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home, 2257 Mahoning NE, Canton.

Merriam E. Witham. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Rusty Cowden officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Walter H. Butch Einstein, Jr. Burial will follow in St. Clements Cemetery in Navarre. Friends may call Tuesday 6-9 p.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home.

Joseph E. Sinar
Joseph Edward Sinar, 72, of Malvern, died in his home, Sunday, September 15, 2002, following a long illness. Born in Akron, OH., January 4, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Koval) Sinar. He was the Manager of Price, Inventory and Data and the Home and Auto Supply Division at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 25 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Past President of Lake Mohawk Property Owners Association, Past President of Malvern Rotary, Past President of St. Francis Xavier Men's Club, Charter member of Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and former owner of Malvern Hardware. He is survived by his wife, Carole (Gillooly) Sinar whom he married May 1, 1954; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kay and Matt Wickersham, Susan and Carl Wright all of Malvern; sister, Susan Stecz of Akron; four grandchildren, Nick and Joey Wickersham and Josh and Katie Wright. He is preceded in death by a sister, Anna Vanko; and brothers, Johnny, George and Mike Sinar. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2002, with Celebrant Msgr. John Michael Campbell. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Minerva, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. There will be military services at the gravesite. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund.

Deacon Edward Mack. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at 12 Noon at Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.
