Catherine 'Catty' Lampe
Catherine I. Lampe age 82 of Alliance, died at 11:20 a.m. September 6, 2002 at McCrea Manor in Alliance. Born in Akron, Ohio on April 3, 1920, a daughter of Noah and Grace (Kimble) Bainter, she lived in the Alliance area most of her life. A graduate of Kent High School she attended Kent State University. She married Harold Lampe Nov. 1, 1939; he preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Lampe was a member of; Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Involved with Girl Scouting, a Red Cross Swimming Instructor, and a member of the senior bowling leagues at Parkway and College Plaza Lanes. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Karen Quick, a son Robert and Bonnie Lampe, a daughter Barbara and John Madsen, a daughter Karol Lampe, and a daughter Donna and Kevin Kennedy all of Alliance, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; an aunt Mrs. Ruth Ross and a special friend and neighbor Melba Ganslein. Her parents preceded Mrs. Lampe in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with the Fr. Patrick Manning officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 4916 Hills and Dales Rd. NW, Canton OH 44708. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance.

Dr. Charles E. Guscott, Professor Emeritus at Malone College died Sunday in Walnut Hills Nursing Home. Arrangements are pending at Spiker Foster-Shriver Funeral Home.

Helen M. Kenyon, age 92 of North Canton passed away Sunday September 08, 2002. Karlo Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
John R. Anderson
John R. Anderson, 79 of Canton passed away suddenly on Friday, September 6, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with C.O.P.D. Born April 8, 1923 in Dennison, Ohio. He was a veteran of WW II, having Served in the U. S Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Nellie (Sterling) Anderson, and sister, Ruth Wemple. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene Anderson (DeDente) of the home four children and their spouses, daughter Mary and Jerry Konchar, of Canton, son John I. Anderson and Carol of New Philadelphia OH, son Richard L, and Jan Anderson of Wadsworth, Ohio and son Lawrence and Renee' Anderson of Canton; brothers Ivan H. Anderson of Sandyville, OH, Ralph Anderson of New Philadelphia, OH, and sister Joanne Patterson of Sherrodsville, OH; three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A service will be held Monday, September 9, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home. Viewing will be prior to the service.
Ladyne (Keller) Schaffner
Ladyne (Keller) Schaffner, age 78 of Canton, OH went home to be with the Lord on Saturday
September 7, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 41 years, Eugene E. Schaffner of the home. Ladyne is also survived by, Jeffery S. Schaffner and wife, Nancy of BlackLick, OH, Randall G. Schaffner and wife, Lynda of Louisville, Oh, Stephen L. Schaffner and wife, Linda of Canton, OH, Leslie J. Schneider and husband, Steve of Tijeras, New Mexico, the children of her body and soul. There are 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by family members, Dorothea and Adam Keller and Tom and Lucinda Edwards. Although Dianie is gone she will continue to live in the memories of her brothers, Harold Keller and wife, Pat of Louisville, OH, Don Keller and wife, Marty of North Canton and sisters, Beverly Landefeld of Alabama and Jane Erickson of Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Dyer as celebrant Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Lee F. Gasser
Lee Frederick Gasser, age 46, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 6, 2002. He was born September 22, 1955 and was a life resident of Canton. He graduated from Southgate School in 1975 and was employed by the Stark County MRDD. In the past twenty-five years he had worked at the Southgate location, West Stark and most recently, Whipple-Dale Center. He attended the Church of the Master in Canton. Lee was a light in the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by his family, the many people who knew him in his neighborhood and at his job. He was a collector of many things and especially loved cars. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Russell in 1980, and is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy of Canton; sisters, Myrna Hammerly and Tina Gasser, both of Canton; brother, Dale (Mitch) of Oklahoma, Roy, Walt (Michael), Daniel and David, all of Canton; nephews, Wayne (Kim) Gasser of Georgia; Joshua Hammerly of Canton; nieces, Melissa Gasser of Oklahoma, Arianne and Sheridyn Gasser of Canton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Master with Rev. James D. Mathewson officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 in the Earl B. Jack Funeral Home or one hour prior to services in the church.
Lucinda G. Harris
Lucinda G. Harris passed away at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama and had lived in this community for over 20 years. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Canton. Here she joined Antioch Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband, Joe Harris, Sr.; son, Joe Harris, Jr., and parents, Tom and Hattie Gardner, Sr., Mrs. Harris leaves many memories to son, David Harris, Jr. of Floral Park, New York; daughter, Dorothy (Rev. Kirby) Freeman of Canton; brother, Tom Gardner, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services celebrating the earthly life of Mrs. Harris and the transition into eternal life will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home, where Rev. Kirby Freeman will be officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to and the procession will form from 5822 Longview Avenue, Massillon, OH 44646. Interment at North Lawn Cemetery.
Paul W. Albrecht
Paul W. Albrecht age 91 of Canton, OH passed away 3:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in North Canton. Born in Canton on November 30, 1910 he was the son of the late, Otto and Tillie Albrecht. He was the nephew of noted Canton/Massillon architect Herman Albrecht. Mr. Albrecht was a 1928 graduate of McKinley High School and then graduated from Ohio State University. From 1940-1942 he served as an artillery officer in the United States Army, with the 78th Field Artillery Regiment of the 2nd Armored Division (Gen. George S. Patton Jr. commanding). In 1942 Major Albrecht transferred to the United States Army Air Force, and served as commanding officer of the 81st Airdrome Squadron in Europe during and after World War Two. Mr. Albrecht remained active in the United States Air Force Reserve, retiring as Lt. Colonel with 28 years of service. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for the Automatic Steel Products Co. (now Gates Corporation) in Canton for 35 years. After his retirement, Mr. Albrecht and his wife, Grace, traveled extensively. They spent as much time in Florida as possible, where they owned a mobile home in Bradenton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys (Shuster) Albrecht who died in 1971 and his second wife, Grace (Noonan) Albrecht who died in 2000.
He was a life long member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, member and Past Pres. of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, AARP and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Survivors include his son, Fred Albrecht of Rohnert Park, CA and his daughter, Paula Albrecht of Herndon, VA; step-children, J. Thomas Noonan of Rockford, IL, James F. Noonan of Columbia, MD, Robert Noonan of Hinckley, OH, Carol J. Eberhard of Elmira, NY. There are several grandchildren, Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Larry Houff officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home on Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
Ruth Ann Bedell
Ruth Ann Bedell, 56 of Tallmadge died unexpectedly Friday. She retired after 30 years from Goodyear Corporate Headquarters in Akron where she was an executive secretary. She was currently employed at Struktol Co. of America in Stow as an executive secretary. She was past president of the Tire Town Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals and was named secretary of the year in 1998 by the IAAP. She was the wife of Stuart, daughter of Ruth Hudnutt, MI; sister of Sam (Paula) Hudnutt, MI and Nancy Conover, NC. Preceded by father Merrill and brother, John. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Shorts Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. IAAP service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday followed by a Memorial Service. Burial will be in Greens Lakeside Cemetery in Manitou Beach, MI. Memorials to the Tire Town Chapter of the IAAP.
Ruth I. Wallace
Ruth I. Wallace, age 74 of Louisville passed away Saturday September 7, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. She was born September 26, 1927 in New Philadelphia, OH to the late George C. and Mary (McNeely) Shepherd. Ruth worked as a registered nurse for Aultman Hospital and the Stark County Womens Clinic. She was a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, and the Louisville Chapter #400 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Wallace; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Dick Parker, Sue and Bob Adams; one son, Tim Wallace all of Louisville; two sisters, Betty DiBattista of North Canton and Marjorie Frease of Louisville; two brothers, George E. Shepherd of Louisville and Glenn Shepherd of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Tim and Brian Parker and Callie Adams. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home, Louisville with Rev. Charles Graham officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Eastern Star Services will be held at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday evening. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Louisville. Walter G. Fox. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday August 14, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton with Rev. Msgr. James Clarke, celebrant. There will be no calling hours as his wishes were to be cremated. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Habitat For Humanity.
