Anthony W. Kullman
Anthony W. Kullman, age 78 of Canton, passed away Monday
morning in Massillon Community Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Bolivar, OH and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church; volunteered for Meals on Wheels, an avid gardener; and former member of the K of C Canton Council #341 where he was past Grand Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary Kullman; an infant daughter, Josephine Kullman; four brothers, Francis, William, Joseph and Dick Kullman; five sisters, Florence Larkins, Genevieve Johnson, Elizabeth Kullman, Marie LeGlise and Leona Kullman. He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Volpe) Kullman, with whom they would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary, September 29, 2002; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Diana Kullman of Phoenix, AZ., James (Jim) and Cynthia Kullman of North Canton, Jeff and Dana Kullman of East Canton, Jason Kullman of Canton; three daughters and son-in-law, Janet Kullman of Canton, Joyce Willis of Phoenix, AZ and Jannie and Tim Ortiz of Massillon; eight grandchildren, Micah, Teah, Mikayla, Anna Kullman, Logan and Luke Fetter. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Bishop as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. There will be a military graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1530 11th St SE, Canton, OH 44707.

Ciro Ciraci
Ciro Ciraci, age 67, of Indianapolis, IN, a former resident of Canton, passed away Monday, August 26, at 6:30 a.m., in Community Hospital North after a brief illness. He was born in Canton. He was an active member of St. Simon Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He was also a Lector and a Eucharistic minister. He started a program to distribute communion at the Westminster Village Nursing Home on Sunday morning. He was the past manager of Employees Involvement at the Hoover Company in North Canton. He retired from Jenn Air Magic Chef Division of the Maytag Corporation as Director of Customer Action Planning in 1994. For the past five years, Mr. Ciraci worked as a Catholic chaplain for the Community Hospital System of Indianapolis. He had received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Walsh University and had also been a part time instructor at Walsh University and Stark Technical College. He was past training director of United Way of Stark County and had also worked as a grief counselor in North Canton. In Indianapolis, Mr. Ciraci was a crisis and suicide hot line counselor for the Mental Health Association of Marion County. His memberships included former member of Knights of Columbus, the Association of Catholic Chaplains of America, St. Andrea Society of which he was past president. A lifetime member of the VFW (Indiana branch), Stark County Community Band, and retired member of the Musicians Union Local 111. He served with the occupation force in Germany with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sandy (Roberto) Ciraci; three sons, Ciro Joseph Ciraci II and his wife, Cindy of Bolivar, OH, Frank Anthony and wife, Mary Ciraci of Troy, MI, and Sam Roberto Ciraci and his wife, Stacey of Milford, OH; eight grandchildren, Angelina Maria, Francesca Theresa, Ciro Joseph III, Michael Joseph, John Andrew, Anthony Matthew, Samantha Ann and Joseph Roberto Ciraci; sister and brother-in-law, Anna Marie and Duane Kotsen of Kinneton, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Addessi) Ciraci. Mass of Christian Burial will be sung Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Canton, with Msgr. John Finnigan as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the ROSSI Funeral Home Friday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Prayer services will be held Friday at 1:45 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made and sent in his memory to Mercy Medical Center Hospice, 1320 Mercy Dr. N.W., Canton, OH 44708.

Donald C. Hahn
Donald C. Hahn. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church of Canton with Pastor Kenneth Scheck II officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home and Thursday one hour before the services at the church 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Fund at Zion Lutheran Church of Canton.

Evelyn F. Boekel
Evelyn Francis Boekel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Reed Funeral Home with a pastor from the First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday (tonight). Evelyn was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her family.

Glenna M. Parker. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Hartville Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1554 Edison St., Hartville, with Rev. Daniel Fair officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours in the church Wednesday (tonight) 6-9 p.m.

Helena A. Reusser
Helena A. Reusser, age 89 of Canton, OH passed away Tuesday morning in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Sardis, OH on August 13, 1913 she had been a resident of Canton since 1951. She was a retired employee of Aultman Hospital, retiring in 1979 after 23 year of service. She was a member of the Church of the Lakes United Methodist and was involved with many of the groups within the church. She was a volunteer at the Total Living Center on Tuesday evenings and a member of the Edgefield Chapter #2267 AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac G. Reusser who passed away April 7, 1993. Survivors include her three children and their souses; Clinton and Gertrude Reusser of Canton, Wayne and Starr Reusser of Massillon and Karen and David Volak of Canton; one brother, Glen Stalder of Sardis, OH; there are eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; five step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Church of the Lakes United Methodist with Pastor Bryan George officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours at the church prior to services on Friday from 11-1 p.m. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Lakes United Methodist.

Janice Trachsel
Janice K. Trachsel, age 64, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in her home. She is survived by her husband, William F. Trachsel, whom she wed on June 21, 1958. Other survivors include son, Derek and Tammi Trachsel of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Dane and Kori Trachsel; sister, Marilyn Stratton of Brightwood. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Dover Christian Missionary Alliance Church with Rev. Richard Rose officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, on Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Joseph R. Mikstay
Joseph R. Mikstay, age 70, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 in the residence. Life resident of the Canton area. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborn Division. A retired expeditor for J L Steel in Louisville. A member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where he served as an Altar Server and Lector. Member of the Knights of Columbus Louisville Council #2530, where he served as a past Grand Knight, a past Faithful Navigator of the Msgr. Graham Assembly #0828 4th Degree; currently served as secretary of the Chapter and treasurer of Louisville Council. Preceded in death by his parents, Stephen L. and Elizabeth Mikstay, Sr.; a sister, Irene Crilley. Survived by wife of 48 years, JoAnn (Raunikar) Mikstay; son, Fr. Michael A. Mikstay, Military Chaplain serving with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps; daughter, Monica Radu of Canton; grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Courtney, Christopher Radu; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen J. and Doris Mikstay of North Canton, James and Doris Mikstay, John and Virginia Mikstay, all of Canton; sisters, Betty Davis of Springfield, OH, Mary DiMarzio, Barbara Mikstay, both of Canton. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Fr. Michael A. Mikstay. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Lee M. McElroy
Lee Montgomery McElroy, passed away following surgery on Aug. 26, 2002. He was born in the home of his parents, the late Joseph and Maude Baird McElroy of Carrollton. Lee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an American patriot, a loyal friend and a big fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. A graduate of Ohio Northern University, he served as a pharmacist for more than 50 years, working in Chester, WV and East Liverpool, OH, before owning and operating the McElroy/Rexall Drugstore in Smithfield, OH. In 1962 he took over the McElroy Pharmacy in Carrollton, once owned and operated by his father and brother. During World War II, from 1942 to 1945, Lee served in General Patton's third Army, attached to the 34th Field Evacuation Hospital Unit and assigned to England, France, Luxembourg and Germany. Among those to whom he gave medical aid were the survivors in the Nazi death camp at Buchenwald. After working at the McElroy Drugstore in Carrollton, he continued his practice of pharmacy at Shaff's Pharmacy in Salineville and Dillon Drugs in Minerva. He was preceded in death by his sister, Flora and brothers, Joe (and wife Vivian) and Harold (and wife June). Lee is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Cooper of 61 years, along with his son, Raymond Eugene of Marengo, OH, son, Richard Lee of Canton and daughter, Patricia Ann Locke of Carrollton. He also leaves behind two daughters-in-law, Claire White McElroy, Pam Harris McElroy and a son-in-law, Dr. Darrell V. Locke of Carrollton. His grandchildren include Eric McElroy and his wife, Lora of Columbus, Matthew and his wife, Angie, Rachael and husband, Tracy Knisely, Luke McElroy of the Canton area, Joy Warner and husband, Tim of Carrollton, Wesley Locke and wife, Christie of New Philadelphia and Angela and husband, Chris Campbell of Columbus. Lee's great-grandchildren include Kylie, Sean and Ryan McElroy of Columbus, Craig, Cody and Cole McElroy of Louisville, Jacob Knisely of Canton, Gabriel Louis Warner of Carrollton; two soon-to-be great-granddaughters. Lee is also survived by two sisters, Mary Harris and Ruth Downer, both of Morenci, MI; a sister-in-law, Sharlene Johnson of Smithfield and many nieces and nephews. Lee was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, past president of the Smithfield Lion's Club, a member of the Smithfield American Legion and the Carroll County Veteran's Club (past president). There will be no calling hours; a special memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Carrollton Church of Christ (Christian Disciples) at 353 Moody Ave. in Carrollton. Lee's life of courage, kindness and dedication will be celebrated at 11 a.m. A dinner will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation in Lee's name to made to the Carrollton Church of Christ (Christian Disciples). Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Leota G. Brooks
Leota Glenman Brooks, age 77, of Louisville, passed away Monday evening in Green Mewdows Health Center after an extended illness. Born in Glenville, WV, she was the daughter of the late, Jasper and Ruby Greenlief and lived in the Canton, Louisville area most of her life. She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, in Canton, the Army Navy Club and the Canton Eagles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brooks, son, Charles J. Woodford, son-in-law, Martin A. Beadnell, brothers, Charles Greenlief, Ira Jack Greenlief, Dale Greenlief, sister, Glayds Hubert and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her sons, Robert L. (Mabel) Greenlief of TN, David W. (Carol) Glenaman of Logan, OH, Daniel P. (Monica) Glenaman of Louisville; daughters, Ramona S. (Jerry) McCauley of Minerva, Alice C. Beadnell of Minerva; brother, Frank (Ramora) Greenlief of Ashtabula, OH; sister, Louise Lang of Ashtabula, OH; 17 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home with Rev. Manley Pierce officiating. Friends may call Wednesday evening (TONIGHT) from 6 to 8 p.m. and 1 hour before the service in the funeral. Cremation will take place following services.

Marilyn T. Dieble
Marilyn T. Dieble, age 72, of Wilmington, died Monday, August 26, 2002, at her residence. Survivors include her husband, William E. Dieble, Sr.; one son, William E. Dieble Jr.; three daughters, Carol A. (David) Hoover, Susanne (Mark) Cowman, Patricia A. Calhoun; four sisters, Jeanne Willaman, Shirley (Don) Wilson, Rita (Harry) Schuster, and Alice (Cletus) McCauley; also surviving are three brothers, Ed (Lois) Stephan, Dick (Madelline) Stephan, and William J. Stephan; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, August 30, 2002; 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Wilmington, Ohio. Visitation Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington.

Norma J. Sharrard
Norma J. Sharrard, 74 of Canton died at home August 26, 2002. She was born in Lisbon, OH to the late, Lloyd and Estella (McMillian) Grate on May 15, 1928. She was retired from the Mayfair Restaurant with over 20 years of service. She was also a member of the Louisville Eagles Aerie #2374. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, George W. Sharrard in 1998; granddaughter, Alysha Sharrard; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Elmer) Dinino of Louisville; Debbie Miller of Canton; Pamela (Christian) Walton of Massillon; Keith Sharrard of Malvern; Rodney Sharrard; Laura (William) Kerek; and Patti Marling all of Canton; Danny (Hope) Sharrard of Alliance; Trudy Feiock of Canton; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Goldie Ford of Warren and Dorothy Rohrer of Leetonia. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. in the Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Cummings officiating. Friends may call Wednesday (TONIGHT) 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Robert A. Pontius
Robert Andrew Pontius, age 80, a proud lifetime resident of Canton, passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 12, 1922, and was raised in the Lutheran faith by the late Nell and Adam Pontius. He lived in the Pontius Homestead that was established in 1833, and was a member of the Pontius National Association. He attended Canton City Schools and graduated from Lehman High School in 1940. He pursued his degree at Ohio State University and then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He also served in the Korean War with Battery B 987th Armored Field Artillery. After his patriotic service he received his law degree and went to work for the Social Security Administration where he retired after 30 years of service. He continued to practice law in Canton, helping many people with their social security and disability claims. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Danner Pontius, and a daughter, Karen Pontius Miesiak. He is survived by his wife, Alberta Dunkel Pontius of Canton; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Pontius (Kevin) McJessy and their children, Coleman and Emma McJessy of Chicago; son-in-law and granddaughter, Chris and Amber Miesiak of Canton; stepdaughter, Donamari Dunkel (John) Guy of Akron; step-grandchildren, Gretchen J. Guy (Donovan) Pinder of Canton, Gregory John (Heather) Guy of Columbia, MD, Christopher Andrew Guy of Akron; stepson, Christopher A, Dunkel of Canton; stepson, William C. (Becky) Dunkel of Louisville, KY; and step-grandchildren, Matthew and Ross Dunkel. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew his heart of gold. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 3469 Lincoln Way East in Perry Twp. Fr. Ronald Klingler will officiate. Teresa 'Terry' E. Ray
Teresa 'Terry' E. Ray, age 81 of Alliance, OH, died in Canton, OH, on August 27, 2002 at 5:25 a.m. She was born November 11, 1920 in Weston, WV. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Tom) Wells of Canton, and Suzann Ray of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Amanda Chico; four brothers Robert, Joseph, John and James Mustacchio; two sisters, Cecelia Mohler and Anita Meese. Her parents, her husband, Foster Ray and a brother, Sam, preceded her in death. Mrs. Ray's family wishes to also acknowledge the following people for their involvement in her life, especially in the past few years: the Brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity where she served as their cook, the Alliance Taxi Drivers for her transportation and her co-workers at RUS Uniform. They would also like to say thank you to her special friend, Chris Natale. Private family services will be held. Do to the love she showed to all kinds of animals, the family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Charity Animal Fund at The Alliance Animal Hospital, 1472 West State Street, Alliance, OH 44601 in Teresa's name. Velma L. Casher
Velma L. Casher, age 71 of Canal Fulton, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Monday, August 26, 2002 at home following a recent illness. Velma was born February 14, 1931 in Akron to the late Shirley and Mary (Russel) Parsons. She was a former dairy department manager for Kroger's, retiring after 30 years of service. Velma was a member of Canal Fulton Baptist Church. Velma leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Duane Brooks of Akron; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Brenda Casher of Louisville and Edward Casher of Barberton; two sisters, Lois Myers and Muriel Stevenson, both of Akron; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Casher who passed away April 25, 1977; two brothers, Raymond and Leonard Parsons. Graveside services for Velma will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery with Pastor Stitz of Canal Fulton Baptist Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44308. Arrangements are by the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home of Louisville.

William Lutz, Sr.
William G. Lutz, Sr., age 77, of Massillon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 5, 1925, in Navarre, OH, he resided most of his life in Brewster and the past three years in Massillon. He was a retired conductor from Norfolk Southern Railroad. A graduate of Brewster High School Class of 1942, World War II Air Force veteran, member of Justus United Methodist Church, Brewster American Legion Post #160 for 46 years, Brewster-Sugarcreek Historical Society, and United Transportation Union Local. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Effie (Evans) Lutz; son, William G. Lutz, Jr. on Jan. 18, 2002; brother, Jack W. Lutz, Sr. Survived by his wife, Dolores J. (Meister) Lutz; daughters and son-in-law, Cindy and William Talerico of Canton and Connie Bendure of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Rayne Lutz of Massillon; sister, Marion Kehoe of Avon Lake, OH; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mr. Lutz has been cremated. A Memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Joe Wright officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Calling hours one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Brewster American Legion Post #160, 320 S. Wabash, Brewster, OH 44613.

Bessie L. Woods, departed this life on Saturday, August 24, 2002, after a long illness. She was born in Franklin, TN., to Chester Thompson and Mattie Davis Thompson, who preceded her in death, also preceded in death by her sister, Genevieve Wilson; two brothers, Ben Thompson, James Thompson. She leaves to mourn her passing, friends, Pauline McMeans and Mattie Snell and Family. Bessie saying was God, I Love You Guys.
