Dwayne E. Morrison
Dwayne E. Morrison, age 59, of 88 Triphammer Terrace, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT. Born February 5, 1943 in Newport News, VA, he was a son of Blanche Phillips Morrison of Minerva, OH and the late Burton Morrison. Mr. Morrison was the general manager of Therm, Inc. He had previously been employed by TRW in Cleveland, OH and was an avid golfer. Mr. Morrison was the beloved husband of Judi Morrison of Ithaca. He was the loving father of Kim (Joe) Koran of Cincinnti, OH, Jack (Barbara) Somsen of Phoenix, AZ, Glen (Kristy) Somsen of Cincinnati, OH and the devoted grandfather of seven. Also surviving are his brothers, Dennis and Brad Morrison both of Alliance, OH. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2002 at the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca, Rev. Earl Andrews officiating. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Harry H. Hilson
Harry H. Hilson, age 89, of Canton, passed away Thursday evening, August 15, 2002, in Aultman Hospital. Born February 10, 1913 in New Philadelphia, OH, he was the son of the late Henry H. Hilson and Bertha Mathias Hilson. Mr. Hilson resided in Canton most of his life. He retired in 1974 from the Ford Motor Co. after 26 years of service. Prior to that he worked for the Canton Drop Forge. He was a member of the Louisville Eagles Aerie #2374 and the Ford Retirees. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Margaret Knapp Hilson; a daughter, Pamela (John) Nieporte of Canton; two sons, Terry (Marilyn) Hilson of Wheaton, IL, and Dennis (Karen) Hilson of Port Orange, F; grandchildren, Monica (John) Koren, Tammi (Todd) Fisher, Denny Hilson, Sean Hilson, Lori Hilson Gaede, Lisa Hilson, Lynn (Kurt) Moeller, and Todd (Elena) Hilson; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Berdine) Hilson; a sister-in-law, Earlene Hilson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Hilson and Gladys Fishel; and brothers, Roy, Ralph and Roger Hilson; and an infant brother, Paul. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton with Fr. Edward F. Varble officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Prudence A. Palmer
Prudence A. Palmer, age 70, of Canton, died Thursday morning in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in New Brighton, PA., she had resided here since 1957. A retired elementary school teacher Prue was a 1949 graduate of Lehman High School and 1953 graduate of National College of Education and received her Master's Degree from the University of Akron in 1980. A member of Christ Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and Deacon. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library Board, Canton Junior League since 1960, Symphony League, College Club, Woman's Club-Arboretum Garden Club, A.C. Chapter of PEO, Canton City School Scholarship Foundation Board, First Ladies Library and had volunteered for Aultman Hospital for 35 years. In addition to her parents, Gregory and Madge Palmer, Prue was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia E. Stephens. Survivors include two nieces, Jill M. Geiger of Cocoa Beach, FL., Mrs. Joseph (Dawn) McCorkle of Battle Creek, MI; two nephews, Gregory A. Stephens of Canton and Rod G. Stephens of Holland, MI; five great nephews and two great nieces; brother-in-law, Glenn S. Stephens of Canton and many dear friends. Memorial service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. in Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carolyn L. Griffeth officiating. A private interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may be received following the service at the church on Tuesday. Sr. Dorothea Hurray
Sr. Dorothea Hurray, H.M., the former Dorothy Hurray, age 90, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at Villa Maria Community Center. She joined the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1931. her active ministry of 67 years was spent in education in the Cleveland, Youngstown and Pittsburgh Dioceses including St. Anthony and St. Paul in Canton. Survived by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary Congregation; sisters, Helen Hurray and Matilda Tolson, both of Salem, OH; a brother, Phillip Hurray of Akron. Calling hours Sunday Aug. 18, 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., with wake service at 7:15 p.m. Calling hours Monday. Aug. 19 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. at Villa Maria Chapel. William J. Romano
William J. Romano, age 57, of Malvern, died in Aultman Hospital, Friday, August 16, 2002 following an extended illness. Born in Canton, OH, June 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sue (Mastroine) Romano. He was a 1963 graduate of Malvern High School. After graduation, he was employed at Colfor for 14 years until he was injured in an industrial accident in November 1977. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malvern and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians and the Malvern Hornets. He was a member of the Booster Club and the American Legion Post #375. He is survived by nephews, Kevin and Rodney Romano of Malvern, Joe Romano of Louisville; niece, Janette Borsellino of Louisville; sister-in-law, Margaret Romano of Louisville; four great-nieces and three great-nephews. He is preceded in death by a beloved half-brother, Ralph Romano. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2002 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Celebrant Msgr. John Michael Campbell. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Alice R. Guist-Griffith-Kaiser
Alice R. Guist-Griffith-Kaiser, age 85, of Canton died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 in Morning View Care Center in New Philadelphia, OH. Born in Apollo, PA she had been a Canton resident since 1925. Alice was a dedicated assistant to her brother Dr. Harry J. Guist, DDS starting in 1952. A member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, Alice was an avid bowler with College Bowl and an avid golfer at Bob-O-Link. Alice was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Raymond Griffith and her 2nd husband, Robert Kaiser; also preceded in death by three brothers, George, Clarence and Merle Guist. Survivors include her son Charles (Arna) Griffith of Baltimore, MD., step-son, Patrick (Debra) Kaiser of NJ; two stepdaughters, Kathryn (Kenneth) Brick of North Canton and Linda (John) Tharp of Canton; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary C. Fonner and brother Dr. Harry J. (Ryllis) Guist both of Canton. Several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 710 Tuscarawas Street West with Rev. John C. Mather officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Ruth Ann Patton
Ruth Ann Patton, age 100, of Canton and formerly of Marlboro and Hartville went to be with the Lord Wednesday night, August 14, 2002 in Bethany Nursing Home. She was
born in Bergholz, OH on February 12, 1902 to the late Hector Jenny (Daugherty) Robson. She was one of ten children. Ruth was a 1925 graduate of Mercy Nursing School and she worked as a floor nurse, visiting nurse, and as a private duty nurse. She attended Marlboro Christian Church and had celebrated her 100th birthday there with her family this past February. She was a member of Hardscrabble Women's Club and various nurses associations. She married Jesse E. Patton in 1929, and he preceded her in death in October 1976. Also preceded in death by grandson, Jeffrey Patton in 1999; and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her twin sons and their wives, William and Shirley Patton of North Canton, and Robert and Alice Patton of Irvine, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie Andy Walsh of Louisville, and sister, Cathren Rathke of Warwick, NY; brother and sister-in-law, E. Jay and Mary Lou Robson of Canton, and sister-in-law, Sally Robson of Ogdensburg, NY; grandchildren and spouses, Steve Patton of West Palm Beach, FL, Pam and Jay Scott of Lake Forest, CA, and Kim and Eric Brown of Santa Cruz, CA; great-grandchildren, Michael Scott, Weston and Makenna Brown; and 16 nieces and nephews, including special niece Gretchen Graham of Canton. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Marlboro Christian Church with Pastor Eric Crites officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service (10-11 a.m.) in the church. Carmen Frascone
Carmen Frascone, age 92, of Canton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Thursday afternoon surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY, he lived most of his life in the Canton area. A member of Whipple Heights C. M.A. Church, he was retired from the Canton Board of Education, having worked as a painter. Preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Caterina Frascone; brother, Edward; sisters, Viola Bagnoli, Mary Serpiglia, Mary Ann DeSantis, Theresa Simone and Amelia Belisario. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Spagnola) Frascone, with whom he would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on September 5, 2002; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Norma Frascone of Magnolia, Ron and Geralyn Frascone of Massillon; daughter, Jane Callicoat of Massillon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Sam Bagnoli of Hartville; and special friend and caregiver, Ollie Belle. Friends may call on Sunday 5-7 p.m. in the ROSSI Funeral Home and one hour before services on Monday in church from 9-10 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in Whipple Heights C. M.A. Church with Pastor Todd Sovine officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
