Gloria M. Sturm
Gloria M. Sturm, 78, passed away December 13, 2007. She was born in 1929 to David and Bertha Mahaffie in Barberton, Ohio. Gloria was, at one time, the owner of D & G Sweets. She loved working on craft projects and enjoyed both knitting and crocheting. She was an avid bowler and participated in different bowling leagues for over 20 years and was a dedicated Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Gloria attended Summit Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 19 years, Don and is survived by sons, James (Diane) Stallard, Dwayne (Laura Sharier) Sturm and Scott (Tamara) Sturm; step-children, Rosetta (David) Whytsell and Darrell (Debbie) Sturm; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special buddy, Fred Owen, Sr. and special friends, Chayton and Daxen Hamric.

Grace Emeline Hogarth (nee Dunbar)
Grace Emeline Hogarth (nee Dunbar), having completed a faithful life of service for her Savior, Jesus Christ, went home to be with her Lord on April 27, 2004. Grace was born in Youngstown, OH on April 30, 1910, but lived most of her life in Akron. These last four years she had lived in Valparaiso, IN. Grace was an active member of The Chapel in University Park and First Baptist Church of Valparaiso, IN. She spent her entire adult life in humble service to the Lord. She leaves a legacy of Godly love which she showered over all who knew her.
Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Paul Oscar Hogarth; sons Paul Robert, William David and Richard Douglas. She is survived by her son, John (Julie); daughters, Marilyn (Charles) Barkey, Natalie (Michael) Eddy; daughters-in-law, Mary Hogarth of TX and Martha Hogarth of FL; brothers, Norman (Helen) and Elmer Dunbar; sister, Ethel Easterling; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many precious nieces, nephews and friends.

Grace M. Wilt
Grace M. Wilt (nee Bemis), 82, passed away April 24, 2006. She was born December 2, 1923 in Akron. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Elliott H., Jr.; and parents, Leon and Cora Bemis. She is survived by her sons, David (Judy) Wilt and Dennis (Cindy) Wilt; daughters, Kathy (Mark) Arnold and Barbara (Ken) Owensby; grandchildren, Heather (Ed) Eberhart, Jeffrey (Leah) Wilt, Amy and Amanda Wilt, Kelly and Scott Arnold, and Elizabeth Owensby; and great-granddaughters, Lillyanne, Jossalynne, and Anna.

I. Melvin Kittle
PORTAGE LAKES - I. Melvin Kittle, passed away Friday February 3, 2006. Melvin was born April 22, 1922 and was the youngest of seven children born to the late L. Dow and Izora Golden Kittle in Belington, W.V. He graduated from Belington High School in 1940 and attended Milwakee School of Engineering.
Melvin served 38 months in the Navy as 1st. class petty officer, received one good conduct ribbon, one Atlantic, one Pacific ribbon and Battke Star.
He returned to Goodyear Engineering Division for four years and purchased a garage and towing service for 15 years. He then was employed in industrial tools and equipment sales till retirement.
Mr. Kittle was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Akron since May 20, 1988. He was also a member of Consistory, 32nd Degree Valley of Canton, Yusef Khan Grotto of Akron, Shrine Drum Corp. Tadmor Shrine of Akron, International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Invisible Lodge - Magic. He was a worldwide traveler visiting 44 foreign countries and all but 4 states.
He leaves one daughter Peggy L. Vincent and son-in-law Thomas H. Vincent of NC; and grandson Thomas B Vincent of FL. He is also survivied by many nieces, nephews, friends and special loving friend Mabel Peterman.

James A. Thomas
James A. Thomas, 68, passed away suddenly Feb. 13, 2006. He was born June 5, 1937 in Akron. He served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force and was one of the first flight medics. After leaving the Air Force, James was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber, where he retired after 20 years of service. He will be remembered for his great love for his family, his generous hugs to all, and his sensitivity to animals.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Olive; and grandson, Kyle Paul Clemente. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Patricia; children, Patrick (Judy) Thomas, Pearl (Duane) Sherman, Janette (Les) Clemente, Jeffrey (Susan) Thomas, Juli-Ann (Jason) Hicks, Perry (Andrea) Thomas, Paul Thomas, and Jennifer Thomas; sisters and brother, Margaret (Les) Wilson, Alice-Faye Lunsford, and William (Suzette) McMannis; grandchildren, James (Kim), Joseph, David, Krystal, Eric, Jamie, Kelly, Richard, Alexa, Paige, Brett, Emilie, Matthew, Abigail, and Kaitlyn; great-grandson, Robby; and special mentions, Scott Timms, Carol Thomas, Patty Slack, Jerry Jenkins, and John Harris.

James Ivan Turner Sr.
AKRON, Ohio - James Ivan Turner Sr., 73, went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2007. He was born on May 26, 1934 in Green, Ohio to Walter C. Turner and Elizabeth Knight Turner. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a MEG2. He lived in the Kenmore area his entire life. He retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Company and also worked at the Akron Baptist Temple, where he was a longtime member. For many years, he worked in the Media Ministry and enjoyed going on trips with the Goldenagers.
James was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Virginia B. Turner; stepbrother, Hubert Steed; and wife of 45 years, Ruth M. Turner.
He is survived by his son, Jim Jr.; daughters, Pat, Donna, and Linda Turner; sister-in-law, Dorothy G. Parker; brothers-in-law, Fenton (Margie), Martin (Winnie), and Clifford Garrison. He will be missed by many extended family members and friends and also his special pets, Sam and Sophie.
The family would like to thank Ridgewood Hospice for all their care.

James L. Leidel
James L. Leidel went to sit with his Lord and Savior on Friday April 30, 2004. Jim was born November 30, 1927 in Akron to Michael and Mary Leidel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edward, David, Donald and John (Jack), and son-in-law Michael Just.
He is survived by devoted wife of 52 years, Norma (nee Alkire); daughter, Nancy Just of Suffield; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Connie of Shalersville; granddaughter, Melissa (Scott) Galloway and Julie Just; grandsons, Matthew (Vickie) Just, Justin and Brandon Leidel; brothers, Paul and Matthew; sisters, Eva Bennett, Irene Grooman and Helen Bee; brother and sister-in-law, James (Sally) Alkire; sister and brother- in-law , Delores (Robert) Simpson; plus a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A navy veteran of World War II and a retired Lieutenant from the Akron Fire Department with 33 years of service, Jim was a resident of Suffield for 41 years. He was a member of Goss Memorial Church and a regular volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile.

James M. Ovendorf
James M. Ovendorf, 41, formerly of Canal Fulton, passed away February 16, 2008. He was born March 12, 1966 in Akron. James had his pilot’s license, was a member of the EAA in Wadsworth and loved to travel, especially to EAA airshows in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. His hobbies included radio controlled aircraft, photography, woodworking, and computer artwork. He was also a member of the Canton RC Club.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Geraldine Ovendorf and Oscar and Julia Beichler. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Gina; daughters, Regina and Julie; parents, James R. and Bonnie Ovendorf; sister, Kriss (Terry) Burgess, who will miss him greatly; nephews and niece, Jake, Josh, Larissa, and Matthew; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

James Miller
NORTON - James P. Miller, 75, went home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2001.

Mr. Miller was born Jan. 22, 1926 in Spencer, W.V., but was a longtime resident of this area. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and received The Good Conduct Medal; Army Occupation Medal (Germany); European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon; and World War II Victory Ribbon. He enjoyed old cars and raised Roller Pigeons and was a member of The NBRC (National Burmingham Roller Club) and Crown Victoria Association. He was a member of The Rittman Christian Church and retired from Jack Sommer Chevrolet in Wadsworth.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by brother, Herbert Miller and sister, Mary Kelley of Spencer, W.V. and is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Doris; son, James Edward ( Teri Baldwin) Miller of Wadsworth; sister Doris (Mayford) Kelley of Spencer, W.V.; and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Harrison Arthur, Riley James and Kayleigh Nichole and several nieces, nephews and family members.

Jamie Ott
MANCHESTER, Ohio
Jamie J. Ott, 18, passed away July 27, 2001. He was born October 18, 1982 in Akron, Ohio. Jamie was a graduate of Manchester High School and attended the Portage Lakes Career Center where he excelled in his knowledge and love for carpentry. Jamie played on the Manchester Golf and Tennis teams, and was an active participant in the Rock of Christ Church. Jamie enjoyed swimming and fishing and being outdoors. He was considerate and helpful to everyone and always had a smile on his face.
He is survived by parents Douglas and Janell Ott; brothers, Paul and Albert; sisters, Tiffany (Ryan) and Julie; grandparents Albert and Janie Ott, Gene and Pauline Lavery; many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephew Landon.
