Cindy L. McGonagle
Cindy L. McGonagle, age 45, of Canton, OH., died Monday July 1, 2002 in Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH, following a short illness. She was born on April 12, 1957 in Canton, OH. She was the daughter of Charles Dan and Ruth Baker DeBertrand of Carrollton. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Carl Winters where she had been employed for 25 years. She was a graduate of Jeff Tech of Wintersville, OH. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton. She was married to Larry McGonagle on May 2, 1992; in addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, Larry McGonagle; one son, Shawn Oliver of the home; one step daughter, Autumn Grimes of Amsterdam, OH; one sister, Sandy Newbold of Carrollton; one nephew, Steven Barnett of Marysville, OH. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. in the Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral in Carrollton with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Dorothy Humbarger
Dorothy P. Humbarger, age 89, of Canton, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. Born May 30, 1913 in Brookville, PA to the late Wesley and Esther (Wolfe) Harmon. Dorothy was a Canton resident for over 25 years. Graduated from East High School in Youngstown in 1931 and was a member of B.P.W. She was also an avid dancer and loved to travel. She retired from the General Electric Company in 1965 after 35 years of service. Preceded in death by her husband, William L. Humbarger in 1985; two sisters, Ethel Marko and Wilda French and a brother, James Harmon. She is survived by two sisters, Elemeda Hahn of Youngstown and Rogene (Acitelli) Stewart of Canton and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. C. David Morgan officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to services (12:30-1:30 p.m.) on Friday in the funeral home.
Dorothy J. Stark
Dorothy J. Stark, age 92, died Monday in The Pines. Born in Buchtel, OH, she had been a Canton resident most of her life. Preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Stark in 1982; her son, Russell H. Stark in 2001; eight brothers; and four sisters. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Samuel Long of Canton; her daughter-in-law, Ethel Stark of Conroe, TX; two sisters, Angeline Carroll and Catherine Lantry, both of Canton; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Fr. Nicholas Mancini officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour before the service (10-11 a.m.) on Friday.
Edward L. Begert
Edward L. Begert, age 60, of Creston, OH, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2002 in the home. Born Dec. 23, 1941 in Lodi, OH, to Carl and L. Eileen Mickey (Winger) Begert. He was a member of Creston Moose Lode #1224. Edward worked for 40 years with the Erie, Conrail and Norfolk Western Railroads. Survived by his mother of Creston; brother, Robert Begert of Creston; two nephews and one niece. Preceded in death by his father and a brother, Larry. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. James McCurdy. Calling hours will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Lester L. Lillie
Lester L. Lillie, born May 10, 1952, passed away June 29, 2002 after an extended illness. Survived by a son, Nathan Lillie of Canton; parents, Howard and Nina Lillie of Bolivar; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dawn and Cliff Miller of North Carolina, Cheryl and Dave George of Canton. Private family services only. There will be no calling hours.
Meyer G. Fleisher
Meyer G. Fleisher, age 94, of Canton, passed away Monday evening July 1, 2002 in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born October 8, 1907 in McKeesport, PA. Son of the late Sigmund Lottie Fleisher of Brownsville, PA. A Canton resident since 1956, Mr. Fleisher was owner of Friendly Furniture in Alliance until retirement in 1982. He served on the Broad of Directors of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, had been chairman of Alliance Retail Merchants Division. He was also a Board Member of Alliance Development Corporation. In 1952, he received an award for Outstanding Service to Merchants and Community. Interested in the YMCA, he served on the Board of Directors and Co-chaired several fund raising campaigns. While Chairman of Muscular Dystrophy Drives in Alliance, he originated the first mail carrier's door to door solicitations, and later received special recognition from the National Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy for Successful Fund Campaigns. Meyer was a member of Temple Israel, Canton Jewish Center and Past-President of B'Nai BRITH Lodge in Brownsville, PA and of the Alliance Chapter B'Nai BRITH. Member of Alliance Country Club, Arrowhead Country Club, and of Edgewood Golf Club where he was a avid golfer. He married Cantonian, Florence Jacobson and they celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1996 on September 10th. Former Active member of Alliance Kiwanis Club. Survived by daughters and son-in-law, Emily Fleisher of Stow; Lynn and Steven L. Gardner of Beachwood; grandsons, Jeffrey, Aaron, and Alex Gardener of Beachwood; sister, Helen Foreman of Pembroke Pines, FL; brothers, Pearson Fleisher of Cranbury, NJ, and Milton Fleisher of N. Miami, FL. Funeral Services will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. in Temple Israel with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Temple Israel. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 7-9 p.m. in their residence.
Nolia L. Smith
Nolia L. Smith, age 93, of Canton, OH, passed away Monday morning in The Canton Regency Health Care Center. Born Oct. 17, 1908 in Warren Twp., Tuscarawas County, OH, the daughter of the late George and Anna McCartney. She was a member of First Christian Church of Canton, where she was a member of the Christian Women's Class. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge in Orrville, OH. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wilbur Smith, Feb. 14, 1990; son, Willard W. Smith; brother, John McCartney; her son-in-law, Fred Campbell; one great-grandson, Brandon Campbell. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Leola and Wesley Hisey of Louisville; her daughter-in-law, Thelma Smith of Dalton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dennis and Rhonda Campbell, Ric and Carol Campbell, Terri and David Bush, Sheryl and John Holliday and Terry and Cathy Smith; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister Manley Pierce officiating. Burial in Roxford Cemetery, Tuscarawas County, OH. Calling hours Friday 7-9 p.m. and Saturday one hour before the services 10-11 a.m.
Roy W. Sigmon
Roy W. Sigmon, age 90 of Canton, OH., passed away Monday evening at the home following an extended illness. Born in Rocky Mount, VA, on August 25, 1911, he was a retired employee of the Ohio Paper Tubes in Canton, retiring after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, daughter and two sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Frances Ross of Washington; three sisters, Helen Mauthe of Lakeland, FL, Mozelle Robinson of Rocky Mount, VA, and Dorothy Buckner of Canton; there are 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and close friends, Mary Williams; her daughter; and seven grandchildren all of Canton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Townes Funeral Home in Danville, VA. Burial will be in the Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, VA. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before services on Friday from 12-1 p.m. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Ruth C. Zorger
Ruth C. Zorger, age 80, of Louisville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2002, in Altercare of Louisville. She was born in Canton Nov. 9, 1921, to the late Frank and Rose Gott Johnson. Ruth was retired from Goodyear in Akron. A member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Louisville and the Toastmasters Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Zorger in 1976, one sister and two brothers. She is survived by three sons, Robert Andrews of Canton, James Andrews of Rocky River, OH and Harold Zorger of Williamsburg, VA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home, Louisville. Friends may call one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wendell L. Brown. Memorial service will be held Wednesday 2:30 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Wild officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service. Floyd C. Oster
Floyd C. Oster, age 90, of Massillon, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Massillon Community Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born November 5, 1911, in Massillon, OH, where he was a life resident. A Veteran of the Army in World War II in which he fought in the Normandy Invasion, and the Battle of the Bulge Campaign. He had worked as a Roller on the 49th Z Mill at Enduro and former RSC for 39 years, retiring in 1971 . He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and member of Knights of Columbus #554 and DAV's of Massillon. He is survived by wife, Alberta Oster of Massillon, with whom he celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 26, 2001; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Joseph Miller of Canton, OH; son and daughter-in-law, John and Cheryl Oster of Palm Harbor, FL; sister, Mrs. Charles \Rita\ Weaver of Clearwater, FL; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by, father, Charles Oster; mother, Edith (Runser) Oster; sister, Edna Oster; and a infant sister. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary Parish on Friday July 5, 2002 10 a.m. with Fr. Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, N. Canton. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Heitger Funeral Service-Massillon Chapel, a scriptural service will be held during calling hours on Wednesday, due to the 4th of July holiday.
