Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery and will be conducted by Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Joe was born September 5, 1918 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Italian immigrants and his father worked in the coal mines. At the age of 23 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and joined the American fighting forces in World War II, starting in northern Africa and working his way up through Italy, France and Belgium. After four years in the Army he returned to New Kensington but left soon for Ohio to see his sister. It was here, in Canton, Ohio that he met the love of his life, Pauline D' Aurora. They were married on June 7, 1947 and settled down to make a life in the Canton area. Joe spent most of his business life in auto repair management. He was an active member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was passionate about his family and his country, and given the chance would remind you what he and millions of other men and women went through to achieve, and then maintain our freedom. In 1994 Joe and Pauline moved to Boise, Idaho to be close to their only daughter and her family. These past few years were precious to his family in Boise and to his son-in-law, who learned from him that with some imagination you can fix most anything. We firmly believe that he could have built a battleship out of a pile of tin cans. He is survived by his wife, Pauline and his daughter, Phyllis and Lloyd Cox of Boise and a granddaughter, Nicole Cox. His extended family included Steve and Jennifer Cox and their two daughters, Kim (Cox) and Scott Carlisle and their son, and Mark and Nancy Cox and their daughter.
