Arlan J. Kisner
Arlan J. Kisner, age 92, of Canton, passed away Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. Born in Massillon, OH, Arlan owned and operated Kisner Body Shop. He was a 60 years member of the McKinley Eagles. Survived by his wife, Esther A. Kisner, to whom he was married 73 years; daughter and son-in-law, Connie J. and Charles Reinstadtler of Pittsburgh, PA; son, Ronald A. Kisner of Canton. Also survived by Myrna Kisner of Canton; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be graveside in West Lawn Cemetery Saturday. The procession will form at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friends will be received Friday (Tonight) 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home where Eagles Lodge services will be held at 5:45 p.m.
Christopher S. Rood
Christopher S. Rood, new born son passed away June 26, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. Survived by father, Jason Hattie and mother, Kirstin Rood and family. Private graveside services were held at Sunset Hills Burial Park with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano officiating. The Wackerly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

Edward F. Baldwin
Edward Francis Baldwin, age 81, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Canton, OH, died June 27, 2002, at the New Hanover Medical Center after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 40 years Naomi Jane Robinson. They are survived by their sons, David and his wife, Karen of Kensington, OH and Richard and his wife, Patricia of Jacksonville, NC. He was also preceded by his wife of ten years Dorothy Steinek Nist and was fortunate enough to have additional loving through that marriage. He is survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Kieffer of Canton, OH; and a brother, Fred formerly of Fairborn, OH. Ed was born in Springfield, MA, December 21, 1920 to Fred Willard and Vida Tebo Baldwin. He spent four years in the Civilian Conservation Corps where he built roads and fought forest fires in the Idaho area, prior to enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After spending four years in the Corps, he returned to work at Timken Roller Bearing Company in Canton and retired after 42 years. He was a member of the 12th St. United Methodist Church in Canton, OH and the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Jacksonville, NC. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was very proud of their accomplishments. Ed was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, a great reader of books and very proud to have been a Marine and an American, flying the flags of the Corps and the nation every day. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his four-legged friends, Bijou, Garth and Bowser. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 900 Gum Branch Road on Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Canton, OH on July 6, 2002 at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Jacksonville or the charity of your choice.
Eileen Dubetz Crow
Eileen Dubetz Crow, age 73, of 3rd. St., Bergholz, Ohio, died Wednesday morning in Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio. She was born April 24, 1929 in Bergholz, Ohio; daughter of the late Lloyd Mitchell and Grace Marshall George. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Dubetz, March 11, 1967; and her second husband, Paul Crow who died November 15, 1976; one son, Sammy, in 1967; and two brothers, Eldon and Ellis George also preceded her in death. Eileen was a graduate of Bergholz High School, attended Wooster College, Kent State University and completed her education at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She taught for several years the 2nd grade in the Carrollton Exempted Village School District and finished her 28 year career, teaching kindergarten in the Edison Local Schools. Eileen was very active in numerous church and community activities. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Bergholz, where she belonged to the Women's Association, the Women's Missionary Society and had been a Sunday School Teacher; she was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Steubenville Chapter. She is survived by one son, Mike Dubetz and wife, Polly, of Bergholz; two daughters, DiAnn Baker and husband, Tony of Bergholz, JoAnn Bodle and husband, Bill, of Carrollton; five grandchildren survive: John Griffith of Canton, Chase Griffith, of Bergholz, Brian Bodle of Carrollton, Sara Bodle of Carrollton, Samantha Dubetz of Bergholz. Friends may call at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Bergholz, on Friday (today) June 28th., from 2-9 p.m. The family will be present from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Services will be there on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Virginia R. Birks. Burial will follow in Bergholz Cemetery. The Blackburn Funeral Home, Bergholz is in charge of arrangements.
Esther J. Zantene
Esther J. Zantene, age 94, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday evening in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Morrall, OH, a daughter of the late Oran and Eva Cox Nelson, and had resided in Magnolia over 45 years, previously residing in Mineral City many years. Mrs. Zantene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Magnolia. Preceded in death by her husbands, Bernard Crilley, in 1948, and Ruben Zantene, in 1986, a daughter, Pauline Savoth, a son, James Crilley, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Victor Murphy, of Magnolia; her son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Florence Crilley, of Dover; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Private services for the family will be held on Sat. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Matthew A. Diehl officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. There will be no calling hours.
Faith M. Royster
Faith Monique Royster, went home to be with the Lord on June 25, 2002 after an extended illness. She was born on February 15, 2001 to LaTonya M. Fletcher and Sergio M. Royster. Faith was preceded in death by maternal, grandmother, Alberta Waters; and paternal grandfather, Bobby Hill. She leaves to cherish her memories parents, LaTonya M. Fletcher and Sergio M. Royster; brother, Sergio Jr.; sister, Heaven Fletcher; grandmother, Seradia Royster; and grandfather, Joe Waters. Private Graveside services. Gladys I. Wilson
Gladys I. (Beamer) Wilson, age 68, of Canton, OH, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Holloway, OH, on Dec. 29, 1933, she was a retired employee of PCC Airfoil Co. in Minerva, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Baxter Ridge Methodist Church and a member of AARP and SOLOS. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob Beamer and her second husband, C. Dutch Wilson. Survivors include four children, Diana Taylor of Orem, UT, Donna Grove of Dellroy, OH, Jackie Beamer-Thompson of North Canton and Louis Beamer of Fairlawn, OH; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaretta Fergueson of Cadiz, OH and Mary Beamer of Freeport, OH; two brothers, John Dunlap of Minerva and Robert Dunlap of Lorain, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Merritt officiating. Calling hours at the funeral home on Friday (tonight) 6-9 p.m. and one hour before services on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Burial and a graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Rock Hill Cemetery in Flushing, OH.
Grace Schiffer-Willer
Grace (Bonnie) Schiffer-Willer, age 70, passed away at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday evening after a courageous battle with cancer.
We will walk thru your garden and hold you forever in our hearts-Son, Daniel and Cindy Willer; daughters, Lorel Molder, Bonnie and J.R. Ninham; grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle, Danielle, Kayley, Amberay, Capri, and Damon; great granddaughter, Lexie. A very special, kind, loving, and cherished friend of both our mother and family, Bill Burk, along with many friends and relatives across the states. In recognition of their dedication, Compassion, and devotion to every aspect- respectfully, Dr. C. Tabb and Staff, the entire MMC Hospice Staff, especially, Janet, Kelly, Kathleen, Donna and Dr. Crock. Per her wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
Grant V. Jackson
Grant V. Jackson, 71, passed away June 23, 2002. Born in Akron, Grant lived most of his life in the Akron area before moving to the Georgia mountains that he loved. He was employed with Goodyear Tire Rubber Co., Plant 5, retiring in 1985 along with 37 years service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Tadmor Temple and the Amos H. Engelbeck Lodge 751 and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Naval Reserves. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Jackson-Burket. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Jackson; children, Lori Jackson Hayner of Dallas, TX, Justin Jackson of Blairsville, GA, Jill (Steve) Rickenbacker, and Kristi (Mike) Goodpasture, both of Akron; grandchildren, Kenneth, Shane, Samantha, David, and Stephanie; and many nieces and nephews. Henry Turner
Henry Turner, age 94, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday evening following a lengthy illness. He had lived in our area for the past six years with his granddaughter, Rose and her husband, Chuck Turner. Born Oct. 29, 1907, in Sutton, WV. He had worked in West Virginia as a postal carrier and a farmer, retiring many years ago. A member of the Beloit Holiness Chapel. Preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Dora (Keith) Turner; his wife, the former Carrie Cogar, Oct. 1993; three brothers; one sister; one great-grandson. Survived by one daughter, Edith Nicholson of Moundsville, WV; two sons, William Turner of Akron and James Turner of Gassaway, WV; one sister, May Fincham and one brother, Captain (Bud) Turner, both of Exchange, WV; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. James D. Van Lear
James D. Jake Van Lear, 89, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2002. He was born June 9, 1913, in Staunton, VA. Jake served in the U.S. Cavalry and then in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1974 after working as a rubber worker for 38 years. He was a life long member of Goss Memorial Church where he had served as a deacon. He was active in volunteering with the Haven of Rest, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling. Jake was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette (nee Forschner) Van Lear; brothers, Tom and Ned Van Lear; and sister, Margaret Fasig. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Violet; children, Jack (Darlene) Van Lear, William (Laurel) Van Lear, Jeffrey (Mary) Van Lear, Sue (Gary) Bolden, Melony Torrey, Gayle Savage and Charles K. Miller; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Bud Couts and Edwin Peirce officiating. Lola McCain
Lola McCain, age 81, passed away on June 25, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Tranza, AK, and had lived in the Cleveland and Canton communities for many years. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Canton, located on Cherry Ave. in the 1940's. She was a 1939 graduated of McKinley High School. Mrs. McCain was affiliated with the Canton Urban League from the 1930-1950's. She retired as a teacher with many years in the public school system.
Patricia L. Bohnsack
Patricia L. Bohnsack, age 65 of North Canton died Sunday in the home following an extended illness. Born on June 2, 1937, she was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing. Patricia was a the former head nurse of surgery at Aultman Hospital and had recently retired from the Hoover Co. after 29 years of service where last position was supervisor of industrial nursing. Preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Spencer and Catherine Bohnsack. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Jim Garris of Lewisville, TX and one brother and sister-in-law, William and Jill Bohnsack. There are nephews also surviving. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth D. Scheck II officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Paul E. Robinson
Paul E. Robinson, age 79, of Massillon, died Wednesday night at Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Green Twp, OH., to the late, Joseph B. and Ora M. Mattern Robinson. He was a retired dispatcher with the Norfolk Southern Railroad with 42 years service. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Massillon. Was a graduate of University South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. Robinson on June 21, 1998; three brothers and one sister. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Patricia Robinson of Pittsburgh, PA., Jeffrey and Lisa Robinson of Canton; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Michelle Robinson; grandsons, Jason and Jamie Robinson; great grandchildren, Paige and Tori Hillen and Christian Robinson. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 1 p.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Rose Marie Mayle
Rose Marie Mayle, age 77, of Canton, OH., was called and went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning in Aultman Hospital. Born February 6, 1925 in Flemington, WV., to the late Joseph and Retta Bevilock. She was a member of the World Wide Church of God. Preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra K. Mayle; two brothers, Ersel and Johnny Bevilock; and two sisters, Theresa Faulkner and Philomena Oyler. Survivors include her husband, Audward; four sons and daughter-in-law, Eric B. Mayle of Canton, Jeffrey and Sue of Phillipi, WV., Mickey Mayle and Frank Mayle both of Canton; and one daughter and son-in-law, Constance and Raymond Magee of Canton. There are twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Marie Bevilock of Connecticut; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Steven Stephenson of Virginia and Josephine Black of Kentucky. There are several nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home where the family will receive friends two hours prior to services from 4-6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday at 12 Noon in the Simpson Cemetery, Simpson, WV.
Thomas L. Garrett
Thomas L. Garrett, age 70, of Springfield, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in his residence. He was born to Eugene and Helen Veronica (Kibler) Garrett, on March 21, 1932, in Canton, OH. He worked as a Finance Director for Springfield; and a City Auditor in Canton before retiring in 1984. He was a member of First Christian Church and volunteered his time to the Good Samaritan Outreach Center of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Garrett; two sons, Thomas L. (Nancy) Garrett, Jr. of Brentwood, TN., Gregory B. (Terry) Garrett of Huber Heights; one daughter, Susan (Keith) Williamson of Springfield; one brother, Bill Kibler of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Michael Whitacre of Springfield, Preston and Tiffany Garrett of Brentwood, TN., Spencer and Shannon Garrett of Huber Heights and Kassy Williamson of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
