Cinderella Lockhart Bessick
Cinderella Lockhart Bessick, age 82, of Canton, OH., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 13, 2002. Born in Glouster, OH., on January 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late, Viola (Brooks) and James Lockhart. She had worked for many years in Chicago for the U-Hall Co. family. Upon returning to the Canton -Akron area she played the organ for several churches including Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded by a brother, Donald A. Lewis; and cousin, Vivian B. Kelly. She leaves to cherish her memory her cousin, John R. Kelly of East Canton; and a host of nieces, nephews and her Valley Chapel Church family. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. There will be no calling hours and the Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dolores Fowler
Dolores Elaine Fowler, age 72, of Massillon, died Wednesday afternoon in the home following an extended illness. Born October 8, 1929, in Rimersburg, PA, to the late James and Pauline Stewart. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ; and was retired from Aultman Hospital in 1992. Preceded in death by her brother, Robert J. Stewart. Survivors include her husband, John of the home with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on July 30, 2002; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Stephanie Fowler of San Diego, CA., Troy and Cynthia Fowler of Massillon, OH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and David Correia of Los Angeles, CA., Lanie and Robert Meyer of Massillon, OH; there are six grandchildren, Keith, Kent, Gabe, Lauren, Cody and Brandon also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Gifford officiating. Private burial for the family will follow the services. Calling hours in the funeral home Sunday 2-4 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
Forrest E. Bryant
Forrest E. Bryant, age 81, of Canton, passed away Thursday evening in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Gate City, VA, a son of the late Charles and Octavia Fraley Bryant, he had been a Canton resident since 1940. He retired in 1970 from the Bowdil Co. after 30 years service as welder. Following his retirement he worked for the Canton Park Department for 17 years, where he managed the Canton Garden Center until 1988. Mr. Bryant was a member of the North Industry Christian Church and the United Commercial Travelers of America and he served with the United States Navy during World War II. Survived by his wife, Twila Bryant, with whom he celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 5, 2002, one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Michelle Bryant and one daughter-in-law, Judy Bryant, all of Canton; two grandchildren, Christopher Bryant and his wife, Nicole and Dawn Bryant; one great-grandson, Christopher Bryant. Services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Kimbrel officiating. Friends may call Sunday. 7-9 p.m. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
Frances Pellegrini
Frances Pellegrini, age 85 of Canton, passed away Wednesday evening in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Malvern, OH, and had lived in Canton most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pietro and Maria Louisa (Evangalista) Mammone; and step-mother, Maria (Cirelli) Mammone; her husband, Vincent Pellegrini. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony M. and Vickie Pellegrini of St. Augustine, FL, Daniel B. and Kathy Pellegrini of Canton, Frank and Tina Pellegrini of North Canton; one daughter, Luisa Ruth of Canton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Olga Mammone, James and Donna Mammone and Sylvester and Janet Mammone all of Canton; one sister, Phyllis Klemper of Melbourne, FL; ten grandchildren and spouses, John and Michael Metheney, William and Michelle Metheney, Daniel Pellegrini, Tina Pellegrini, Tonya and Jeff Bennett, Rocco Pellegrini, Danielle Black, Megan Mars and Michelle Pellegrini; eight grandchildren and also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Mancini officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to Canton Saint Paul's Catholic Church.
Howard L. Geckler
Howard L. Geckler, age 67, of Magnolia, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon in Aultman Hospital. Born a son of the late Emerson and Emma Scarlett Geckler, he had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Geckler was a hardworking farmer and previously was employed at James Brothers Coal Co. and Armstrong Drilling in Wooster. He was a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church in Canton. Preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Geckler, and a sister, Bess Dycus. Survived by his wife, Patricia Geckler, with whom he celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary on April 22, 2002. Their marriage brought together a loving family of four sons and three daughters. They are Maurice and Vicki Geckler of Virginia Beach, VA, Brian and Gloria Geckler of Orrville, Donald and Debbie Fishel of Malvern, David Fishel of Spotsylvania, VA, Glenda Fishel of Magnolia, and Jennifer and Tim Shisler of Smithville. Also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Joe Mathey of New Philadelphia; one brother, Joe Geckler of East Sparta; seven grandchildren, Amanda Lindfers and her husband, Matt, Andrew Geckler, Christina Geckler, Catherine Geckler, Spenser Fishel, Erika McIntyre, and Dawson Fishel; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Arthur Martin officiating. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Baxter's Ridge Cemetery.

Joseph H. Rosia
Joseph Joe H. Rosia, age 80, of Louisville, loving husband, father, grandfather great grandfather, passed away Wednesday June 12, 2002 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. Joe was born July 28, 1921 in Harrisburg, to the late Henry and Sylvia (Ruffier) Rosia. He was retired from Transue Williams of Alliance where he worked in the hammer and shipping departments for 45 years. Joe was a member of the Louisville Police Department Auxiliary and Boiler Makers Local #1603. He was a member and past president of the F.O.E Louisville Aerie #2374 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Louisville Council #2574 where he served as Past Grand Knight. Joe was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville. Joe especially enjoyed his walks in the park, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although your light here on earth may have gone out, the light of your life will always remain on in our hearts. You will always be as Good as gold. Joe leaves behind his wife, Dollie (Clagg) of the home; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Sparks of Louisville, Judy and Gary Paschen of Belpre, Rhonda Gansel of North Canton and Joanne and Rick Diss of Canton; a sister, Dorothy Rosia of Louisville; a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Elaine Rosia of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Kelly Devitt, Kristine Sparks, Courtney and Jill Paschen, Matthew and Mark Gansel and Greg Throckmorton; and three great-grandchildren, Corey Devitt, Jordan Devitt and Emma Paschen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Joseph J. Gialluca
Joseph J. Gialluca, age 86, of Canton, passed away Thursday morning in Aultman Hospital after brief illness. He was a life resident of Canton. Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters, Canton Court, AARP. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to do crafting and woodworking and loved to dance. He was a former employee of the Macomber Division of Republic Steel, having been employed there for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella Mollie (Votolato) Gialluca, who passed away on May 29, 2001; his parents, Panfilo and Lucy Gialluca; three brothers, Dominick, Anthony and John Gialluca; three sisters, Elina Leon, Rose Ciprian and Ann Comsia. Survived by one sister, Norma Jean Gialluca of Canton; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Rose Gialluca of Canton and a number of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be sung Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Msgr. Frank Carfagna as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rossi Funeral Home Sunday 5-8 p.m.
Patrick P. Terrigan
Patrick P. Terrigan, age 76, of Canton, OH, passed away Friday morning in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Pyrites, NY on September 19, 1925 he was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a retired employee of the Babcock-Wilcox Co., retiring in 1988 after 32 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for the Anderson Flowers in Canton. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Terrigan of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Jeanne Terrigan of Massillon, Rick and Karen Terrigan of Bolivar and Terry Terrigan of Navarre; four grandchildrren; three sisters, Laura Terrigan of North Canton, Fran Aebi of North Canton and Mary Miller of Shaker Heights, OH; three brothers, Paul and Donald Patrick of Canton and Jerry Patrick of Bath, OH. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister, Manley Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday evening 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Aultman Hospice Program.
Richard A. Selogy
Richard A. Selogy, age 63, of Canton, passed away Tuesday at Aultman Hospital. Dick was born August 29, 1938 in Massillon to the late John W. and Virginia (Riley) Selogy and lived all of his life in the Massillon/Canton area. He as a self-employed home improvement contractor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Newbauer and Judy Define, brothers, Louis, John Jr. and Donald Selogy. He is survived by stepchildren, Jackie Howard, William (Gayle) Stages Jr., Mary (Russell) Lyon, Cliford Stage, Jeffrey and Kim Stage, all of Canton; sisters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Clendenin of South Carolina, Mrs. Michael (Mary Lou) Evanovich of Maumee, OH, Mrs. Joe (Peggy) Shively of Zelienople, PA; brothers, Joe Selogy, Ronald Selogy, Danny Selogy, Bob Selogy, all of Massillon. The family will receive friends on Saturday 12-12:45 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The body has been cremated.
Robert S. Bowman
Robert S. Bowman, age 82, of Jackson Twp., passed away unexpectedly and peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Garnet (Ensminger); sister, Donna Bates of Virginia; sons, Ronald (Hilda), Carl (Celinda) and Mike (Mikey); daughter, Cindy Joseph (Tom); stepsons, Eric Blumensen, Glenn Black, MD (Cheryl), Douglas and Donald Ensminger; and stepdaughter, Connie (Tim) Lewis; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Chemical Dept., was a Major in the Army Air Corps in WWII where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart. He was an avid flyer and was the oldest and most senior member of the Aero Fliers Club, played in two community bands and loved cooking. Friends and family will be received at the home 4580 Parkdale Ave. NW, Canton, OH., from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday June 15, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Ministries Church, PO Box 80394, Canton, OH., 44708-0394 or to your favorite charity. According to his wishes, his body was donated to the NEOUCOM Body Donation Program.
Robert C. Mohr
Robert C. Mohr, age 84, of Canton, passed away early Thursday morning in his home after an extended illness. He was a life resident of Canton. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2370, Moose Lodge #233, VFW Post #3747. He was a graduate of McKinley High School and an avid McKinley Booster and fan. He was an avid bowler and golfer for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emeline (McCarthy), who passed away on Nov. 6, 1996, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage; also his parents, Charles and Irene Mohr; a sister, Doris Klonowski; a brother, Floyd Mohr. He was the loving father of son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lucille Mohr of Alliance; daughters and son-in-law, Sandy Workman of Canton and Larraine and Bill Meredith of Malvern; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Jean Mohr, Jack and Belinda Mohr, all of Canton; loving grandfather of Vicki Davis, Todd Workman and DeAnna Glass and five stepgrandchildren; loving great-grandfather of Nicholas and Brandon Davis and David Glass and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, June 18, at 1 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Crites officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
