Albert L. Miday
Albert L. Miday, age 82, of Louisville, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, June 7, 2002, in Mercy Medial Center following a sudden illness. Albert was born March 20, 1920, in Louisville to the late Charles and Lucy Miday. He was a retired carpenter and an Army Veteran of World War II where he served with the 141st Replacement Battalion. Albert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #548 and F.O.E. Louisville Aerie #2374. Albert was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville. Albert leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Annabelle M. (Moushey); four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Miday of Mentor, Charles Miday of Lexington, KY., Stephen and Linda Miday of Hartville and Thomas and Sandy Miday of Massillon; a brother, Russell Miday of Garden Grove, CA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Miday, Ellen Haidet and Anna Ruth Miday; and three brothers, Basil, John and Bernard Miday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Becky L. Faulkner
Becky L. (Benedict) Faulkner, age 57, of Canton, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, June 7, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center. She was born on July 29, 1944 in McArthur, OH and was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Benedict. Becky leaves behind her mother, Eleanor Benedict; one daughter, Bonnie Boswell; three sons, Nick, Randy and Terry Faulkner; six grandchildren, Tabitha, Shakila, Kizzi, Nicholas II, Jack and Courtland; two sisters, Barbara and Cindy; one brother, Les. The family will receive friends Monday (tonight) in the Reed Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held in the Garrett Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, OH 40336 on Tuesday 12-2 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, OH with Fr. Larry Lane officiating. Burial will be held Tuesday in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, OH.
Carl R. Allmon
Carl R. Allmon, 77, of Minerva, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Shadyside Nursing Home in Homeworth after a short illness. He was born on September 23, 1924, in Carroll County, the son of the late W.F. and Clara Long Allmon; and was a life time resident of the area. Carl was a farmer all of his life. On January 9, 1974, he married Novella Bunton Bettle who died October 12, 1975. He is survived by two brothers, Howard Allmon of Minerva and Willard Allmon of Santa Barbara, CA; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Olive George. Funeral services ill be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. John Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles Wilson, Jr., passed away. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 6 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home. Final interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Chester F. Wojtowicz
Chester F. Chet Wojtowicz, age 68, of Canton, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2002 at his residence. A lifetime resident of Canton, he was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army and Navy. A retired police officer from the City of Canton and more recently retired from the Canton Museum of Art. A 1951 graduate of Timken High School. A member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. Preceded in death by his parents, Julia Gocek and Peter Wojtowicz; three brothers, Walter, Edward, and Joseph Gocek; three sisters, Frances Gocek, Stella Mahalko, and Ann Novak. Survived by his wife of 43 years, Martha (Masalko); two daughters and a son-in-law, Victoria and Tom Rose of Uniontown, Catherine Wojtowicz of Raleigh, NC; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy and Lisa Wojtowicz of Canfield, Gregory Wojtowicz of Park Ridge, IL, Jeffrey Wojtowicz of Alliance; grandchildren, Mark and Mitchell Rose, Brooke Wright, Chelsea and Jacob Wojtowicz; great-granddaughter, Sophia Wilt; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Edgar Rilinger of Canton, Annie and Woodrow Richesson of New Philadelphia, and Frances Corbit of Canton; three brothers, Merrick Marshall of Colorado, Stanley Marshall of Missouri, and Edward Wojtowicz of North Canton; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Gocek of Canton and Elma Gocek of Reynoldsburg, OH; mother-in-law, Catherine Masalko of Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. William Shipe. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Cleora R. Campbell
Cleora R. Campbell, age 71, of Canton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 8, 2002, in the residence. Born in Vanderbilt, PA., June 29, 1930, she lived most of her life in the Canton area; and was a retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Campbell was a member of First Christian Church, Kum Join Us Sunday School Class, former Sunday School teacher and former teacher of the Ladies Bible Study. She was preceded in death by her father, James Welling and her step-father, Donald Knoch. Survivors include her husband, Frank (Dick) Campbell, of the home to whom she would have been married 50 years, September 5, 2002; her children, Kimberly Campbell, M.D. of Littleton, CO., Jeffrey Campbell of Wapakoneta, OH., Don Campbell of Dover, OH; her mother, Rella Knoch of Canton, OH; there are 10 grandchildren also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 1 p.m. in the Chapel of First Christian Church, 2600 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Canton, with her son, Don Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Memorials may be made in her name to First Christian Church Middler Junior Department. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Garnet Jenny Zahler, age 76, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Aultman Hospital, following an extended illness. Services are pending at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville.
Harry Reed, Jr.
Harry Reed, Jr., 74, of Jackson Twp., died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born to the late Harry Sr. and Frena (Jones) Reed, September 22, 1927, in Doddridge County, WV. A U.S. Navy Veteran; he was a long distance truck driver for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Louise (Barkes) Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and John Barrett of Lebanon, OH; granddaughter, Tracy Barrett of Middletown, OH; grandson, Michael Barrett of Washington Courthouse, OH; also surviving are great-grandchildren: Meagan, Corey and Taylor Barrett and Michael Cooper. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, with the Rev. David J. Ross officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may be received Tuesday 6-8 p.m.
John E. Conley
John E. Conley, 81, of Jackson Twp., died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Aultman Hospital. A member of Faith United Methodist Church, he was an engineer with White Consolidated Industries for 37 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Fisher) Conley; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Karen Conley of North Canton, John and Diana Conley of Reynoldsburg; grandsons, Jamison of North Canton and John A. Conley of Reynoldsburg; sisters, Kathleen Brennan and Dolores Edgar; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Shirley Conley all of Pittsburgh; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Fisher of North Canton. He was preceded in death by his parent, John E., Sr. and Kathleen (McClain) Conley; brother, Erwin and sister, Mary Jane Henderson. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Faith United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Dry Ridge Cemetery, Thursday in Shellsburg, PA. Friends will be received Tuesday 7-9 p.m. in Karlo Sons, 512 South Main St., and one hour prior to services at church. John W. Gaul
John W. Jack Gaul, age 86, of Canton, OH., died June 7, 2002, after a brief illness. Jack, the husband of Barbara Mathewson Gaul, was born May 8, 1916, in Buffalo, NY., to the late Harry William Gaul and Grace Wilcox Gaul. Jack graduated from Cornell University in 1938, with a degree in civil engineering. First employed by Dravo Corporation, he was assigned to a project constructing the piers for a bridge in Natchez, Mississippi, where he and Barbara were married. He returned to Buffalo and joined Texaco as an industrial engineer. Jack enlisted in the Navy Reserve during World War II and returned to Texaco after the war. In 1952, he joined Whitmer-Jackson as manager of a window assembly plant in Medina, New York. During his eight years in Medina, he was active in the Elks Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was transferred to Massillon, Ohio in 1961 to manage the local Whitmer-Jackson plant (now known as Iron City Sash Door). Jack worked at REO Industries until his retirement in 1983. In retirement, he enjoyed making original designs in stained glass and volunteering as a bookmender at the Massillon Public Library. He was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church and participated in a mission trip to work on a Habitat for Humanity house. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed sailing his boat on Lake Cable. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; his daughters, Linda Gassaway of Albuquerque, NM, and Christine Mitchell of Colorado Springs, CO and her husband, John; his son, Harry William Gaul, and his wife, Lo-An of Gilbert, AZ; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, especially for his sense of humor. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 11th., at 11:00 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church in Massillon, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Lalama officiating. According to Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date in Buffalo, New York.

Mary H. Marty
Mary H. Marty, age 92, of Holmesville, OH., died Saturday June 8, 2002, at the Holmes Co. Home, Holmesville, OH., following a extended illness. She was born April 27, 1910, in Pittsburg, PA., and was the daughter of John and Mary (Kuba) Rodak. She first married James Edmund Dean and he preceded her in death. She later married Dean Marty and he preceded her in death in 1979. Mary was a Homemaker and worked along side her husband Dean at the Ashland Bulk Station in Millersburg, OH., in which they owned and operated. She was a member of the Millersburg Faith Lutheran Church, The Holmes Co. Senior Citizens Group, R.S.V.P. and had been a Gray Lady at the Pomerene Hospital. Surviving are one daughter and her spouse, Betty J. and husband, James J. Hinkle of Millersburg, OH; two granddaughters and their spouses, Cindy and husband, Jerry Whitman of Killbuck, OH., Marty and husband, Jim Rice of Millersburg, OH; four great-grandchildren; and nine great - great - grandchildren; two brothers, George Rodak and Albert Rodak both of Louisville, OH; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Rodak of Louisville, OH., and Lola Rodak of Florida. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ginger C. Hinkle; one sister, Anne Usher; and two brothers, John Rodak and Michael Rodak. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, OH., with Rev. John Wanamaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mary S. Peter
Mary S. Peter, 83, of Wooster, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at West View Manor Retirement Community. She was born July 27, 1918, in Taconite, Minnesota. She married Richard L. Peter on May 5, 1945; he died in 1993. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud. She was a school teacher in Juneau, Alaska, teaching 5th grade. She enjoyed American History, glass collecting and was an avid quilter. Surviving is a son, Eric and daughter-in-law, Joanne Mason-Peter; one grandson, Macord Mason-Peter; and a granddaughter, Shanna Brown all of Juneau, Alaska; a brother, Raymond D. Scott of Gaylord, Michigan; sister-in-law, Helen Peter; sister of Notre Dame; numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Scott Peter died in 1958; a brother, Dutch Scott; and a sister June Platisha died previously. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, OH., with Chaplain Paul Fink officiating. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery, Cleveland Ave., Canton, OH. Myrtle Strickland
Myrtle Strickland, age 83, formerly of Canton and El Paso, TX., died June 8, 2002, in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center after a long illness. Preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Florence Drowns; one brother, Bud; one sister, Evelyn Tebay; and one granddaughter, Tamara Ickes. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patricia Ickes; grandson, Steve (Terri) Ickes; and great-granddaughter, Katherine Ickes all of Canton; there are three sisters, Barbara and Linda of California, and Sue of Westlake, OH. At her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services and her body will be cremated.
Rosalie F. Peterson
Rosalie F. Peterson, age 80, of North Canton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Canton, North Canton Book Club, and many other charitable organizations. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tanalynee and Lorin Sickafoose of North Canton; sister, Evelyn Short of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Mauritz Pete Peterson and their son, Lt. Mark A. Peterson. Therese V. Ritchey
Therese V. Ritchey, age 71, of (Meyers Lake), Canton, OH., passed away Sunday morning, June 9, 2002, in the residence following a brief illness. Born in New York, NY., September 25, 1930, to her parents the late Anthony and Marie Martella, she was a graduate of Washington Irving High School and came to Canton in 1969. Mrs. Ritchey was a member of CYC and active in their Water Aerobics Class and, member and Past Secretary of AARP. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Major Paul W. Ritchey, USMC (Ret.), February 1993; and sister, Virginia Martella. Survivors include three children and their spouses, Michael and Virginia Ritchey of Raleigh, N.C., Mary Keefer of Mesquite, TX., Virginia and Michael Grisez of Carrollton, OH; five grandchildren: Jean, Andrew and Mark Ritchey, Kathryn Keefer and Austin Grisez; also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Hugh Becker of Port Saint Lucie, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Bradford Helman as Celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home Wednesday 6-9 p.m. and beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. until the funeral procession leaves for the church. Warren C. Offineer
Warren C. Cotton Offineer, age 89, of Canton, passed away Sunday morning June 9, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1912 in Cambridge, Oh, he was the son of the late Monzo and Minnie Offineer. A Veteran of World War II, he served his country in The U.S. Navy and received The Purple Heart. He retired from Ironworkers Local # 550 after 47 years of service. Preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur, James, Frank, Harold, and Clifford. Memberships include Ohio LST/Amphib's Association, Game Reserve Association and attended First Church of the Nazarene. Survived by his wife, Helen M. Offineer, to whom he was married 71 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jane Offineer and William and Alice Offineer of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Arnold Yost of Pennsylvania; one brother, John Offineer of Paterson, NJ; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with James S. Hill, Pastor of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Warstler Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
