Ann Murphy-Henman officiating. As were his wishes, Allen will be cremated.

Ann Stiffler-Kelley
Ann M. Stiffler-Kelley, age 63, of East Canton, died Tuesday in Aultman Hospital following a sudden illness. She was a life resident of the Canton and East Canton areas, retiring from U.S. Chemical in 1995 after 14 years of service. Member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Canton, a 1956 graduate of East Canton High School. She served as a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program and was a Union Stewart. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Henderson; her first husband, Myrtus Stiffler; her second husband, George Kelley; one stepson, Robert Stiffler; a beloved nephew, Keith. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Howard Cain of Canton, Darlene and Bruce Davis of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Janeen Stiffler of East Canton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Edna Henderson of East Canton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Sharon Henderson of Louisville, Richard and Barbara Henderson of Minerva; two sisters, her twin, Nan Vrabec of Canton, Judith Dice of Bolivar; three stepdaughters and a spouse, Bertha Christensen of North Canton, Maryjane and Bob Hole of Minerva, Marion Stiffler of Massillon; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday 7-9 p.m. and one hour before services on Friday (12-1 p.m.).

Byron G. Tzangas
Byron George Tzangas, age 39, of Columbus, OH, passed away Tuesday after a sudden illness. The funeral arrangements and services will be published in Friday's paper. The ROSSI Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Christina Zubko
Christina Zubko, age 94, of Canton, died Wednesday in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, she had been a Canton resident since 1953. She was a former employee of the Onesto Hotel. Preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Zubko, who died in 1977, and by her son, Gregory Zubko, who died in 1995. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Vera Rippert Meeks and Dennis L. Meeks of Canton and Maria Woodward and James Woodward of Cadiz, OH; six grandchildren and their spouses, Eric Rippert (Deb), Christine Rippert (Eric), Larry Woodward (Michelle), Paul Woodward (Brandi), and Adam and Ivan Woodward; and two great-grandchildren, Haley and Brock Woodward. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Fr. John A. Peck officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 7-9 p.m.

Epsie Mae Bell
Epsie Mae Bell, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2002, after a brief illness. She was the oldest child born to the late Lonzie Cox Sr. and Clara M. Cox on July 8, 1937 in Chicago, IL. Epsie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of ten at the First Baptist Church in Leetsdale, PA. She was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School in 1956. Epsie united in marriage on June 8, 1957 to John A. Bell Sr. where she was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church for 21 years. The union produced four children Cynthia, John Jr., Lawrence, and Michelle. Epsie was a dedicated and faithful member of the Union Baptist Church for 24 years. She served as the President of the Mother's Board, sang throughout the community, and was a member of the choir. She was employed by the Hoover Company for many years. Epsie was a charter member of the Young, Gifted, and Black Foundation Inc. and served as the Student Scholarship Coordinator and the Youth Coordinator since 1980. She was a member of the N.A.A.C.P, and the Urban League. Epsie loved to cook, owned a bakery, sewed, donated Poinsettias and baskets during the Holiday season, and was a part of numerous charitable organizations. She cherished her family and friends and expressed her love through her cooking and by ministering and praying for everyone. She is preceded in death by her father, Lonzie Cox Sr. of Beaver Falls, PA; infant sister, Dolly Bell Cox of Beaver Falls, PA; Father in law, Rev. Eugene Bell of Canton, OH; Brother in law, Luke C. Bell of Canton, OH; and Brother in law, Ben Roby of Canton, OH. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of forty-five years, John A. Bell Sr. of the home; two daughters: Cynthia D. (Roland Jr.) Morsee of Flint, MI; Michelle L. Bell of New York, NY; two sons: John A. (Angela) Bell Jr. of Atlanta, GA; and Lawrence J. (Velvet) Bell of Canton, OH. Mother, Clara M. Cox of Beaver Falls, PA; and Mother in law, Allie M. Bell of Canton, OH. Two sisters: Patricia A. Henderson of Canton, OH; and Clara D. Cox of Beaver Falls, PA; four brothers: Lonzie (Joanne) Cox Jr. of Beaver Falls, PA; Raphael (Mary L.) Cox of Canton, OH; Ronnie (Terri) Cox of Monaca, PA; and Timothy Cox of Augusta, GA. Four sisters in law: Jean Roby of Canton, OH; Eva Mae Bell of Canton, OH; Ophelia Owens of Canton, OH; and Mildred Curtis of Canton, OH. Seven grandchildren: Dante Averette; Nicole Bell; Roland Morsee III; John A. Bell III; Christian Bell; Kimberly Bell; and Styles Bell and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, relatives, friends and three special brothers in law. Helen R. Heim
Helen R. Heim, age 98, of Minerva, died Tuesday afternoon in Roselawn Terrace Nursing Home in Alliance. She was born February 12, 1904 in New York City, NY to Jacob and Louise (Sheef) Roesti. She taught school at the Bunker Hill one room school house in 1924-1925, was a housewife and operated a dairy farm with her husband. She is a member of the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, the Homeworth Historical Society, a 78 year member of Greely Grange #1741, Columbiana County Pamona Grange, State and National Grange. She graduated from Minerva High School in 1923 and the Tri-County Normal School in Minerva in 1924. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Heim, who died October 24, 1984; two sisters, Louise Clark and Marie Anthony; three brothers, Jack, William and Christian Roesti; a great-grandson, Aaron Smith. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lowell and Marjorie Smith of Minerva; two grandchildren and spouses, Kenneth and Vickie Smith of Minerva, Marie Ann and Michael Clark of Plain City; three great-grandchildren, Adam and Valerie Smith, Abagail Clark. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Tom Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Johanna Martha Schorsten-Hartfield
Johanna Martha Schorsten-Hartfield, lovingly known as Marty, age 80, of Delray Beach, FL., passed away May 20, 2002, in her residence. Born September 17, 1921, in Canton, OH., she had resided in the Newark-Granville area for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Joseph and Christina (Frisi) Schorsten; and her husband, Broadis Thomas Hartfield, who died in 1982. Survivors include her daughters, Eula Mae Kenny of Delray Beach, FL., and Connie M. Winners of Carmel, CA; son, Thomas Lee (Bette Rae) Hartfield of Utica, OH; six grandsons: Steven Winners of Newport Beach, CA., John Hartfield of Los Angeles, CA., Joseph (Gretchen) Hartfield of Columbus, OH., David Kenny of Sandusky, OH., Bobbie (Glenna) Hartfield of Lake Park, GA., Chuck (Lisa) Kenny of Flower Mount, TX; and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Zank of LaCanada, CA., Ann (Virgil) Culler of Prescott, AZ., Pauline Timms of Maui, HI; brothers, Martin Slim, George and John Schorsten, all of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. In 1981, after spending 25 years at Denison University, Granville, where she was loved by many of the students who came into Slayter Hall, she and her husband retired to the Delray Beach area. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her selfless nature, sense of humor and generosity. Memorial services Monday, June 10, 2002, at 11:30 a.m. at the Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main ST., Utica, OH., with Minister Alan Pratt officiating. Laurence E. Blate
Laurence Erlanger Blate, age 59, of Elkader, IA, formerly of Canton, OH, died May 31, 2002. He attended Jackson Grade School and Glenwood High School and the Coyne Institute in Chicago. He was employed by Diebolds until his retirement. Beloved husband of Lyneen; adored son of Jerome Blate and the late Janet Erlanger Altman. Dear brother, Ronald (Sandra) Blate of Louisiana, Steven (Jeannene) Blate of North Canton; loving step-father to Alan (Lora) Glenn, Dale Glenn and Todd (Alida) Glenn and grandfather to Joshua, Kristy, James, Jacklyn, Matthew, and Alyssa. Cherished uncle of Michele, Michael, Don, Gregory, Richard and Kevin Blate; and great uncle of five nieces and nephews. Private services will be held Tuesday.

Louis Washington
Louis Washington, age 79, of Canton, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2002. Born on August 11, 1922, in Bamburg County, SC. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jennie Washington; brother, Herbert Washington; cousin, Ronald Medley. Retired from Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1984. A member of the Friendly Few Club and an avid fisherman. Luella M. Farber
Luella M. Farber, age 79, of North Canton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, Canton, after a sudden illness. She was born April 3, 1923, in Jackson Twp., OH, and had been a life resident of Jackson. She was a homemaker. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, AARP, New Beginnings at John Knox Church, and the Jackson Twp. Historical Society. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Dr. Victor Wallace of North Canton, OH; four grandchildren, Sommer Johnson of Canton, OH, Alex Wallace of North Canton, OH, Erin Wallace of Cincinnati, OH and Virginia Wallace of North Canton, OH; two nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Paul Farber in 1981; mother, Elizabeth Strouble; father, William Strouble; two brothers; two sisters; and one niece. Funeral services will be at John Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Douglas Patton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. Paul E. Gilmor
Paul Emerson Gilmor, age 83, of Advance, NC, formerly of North Canton, OH, died March 6, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a retired president and general manager of the WHBC AM-FM radio stations in Canton. Mr. Gilmor, the husband of Florence Weir Gilmore, was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Alexandria, Egypt, to the late Dr. Paul Emerson Gilmor and Esther McCracken Gilmor, who were working as missionaries. The family lived in the Suden and Ethiopia before moving back to the United States when Mr. Gilmor was eight years old. He graduated from Canal Fulton High School in 1936 and from Washington and Jefferson College in 1940, where he earned a degree in political science. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served four years in the Army, beginning in the infantry and later serving in the Signal Corps Aircraft Warning Unit attached to the Air Force, as First Lieutenant. In 1945 Mr. Gilmor married Florence E. Weir and in 1946 he joined WHBC as a salesman. He became sales manager, then worked as president and general manager for 23 years before retiring in 1983. He served as the president of the Ohio Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters and was national chairman of the ABC Radio Affiliates Advisory Board. He was named Ad Man of the Year by the Advertising Club and the Better Business Bureau and was a former president of the Canton Advertising Club. In retirement, he was named to the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He was active in Christ Presbyterian Church as an Elder and Boy Scout Scoutmaster. He was a member of the Masonic Trinity Lodge and was a former member of Kiwanis, Brookside Country Club, Oakwood Country Club and the Canton Club. He also served as chairman of the Malone College Lecture and Civic Advisory Boards. In retirement, he worked on the literacy and food ministry committees of Christ Presbyterian Church and joined the Retired Executive and Professional Men's Club. In the late 1990's, Mr. and Mrs. Gilmor moved from their home on Lorrell Avenue in North Canton to the Danbury retirement community. They lived there for three years before moving to the Bermuda Village retirement committee in Advance, NC. Mr. Gilmor was fond of saying that his hobbies in retirement included counting pills and napping. Mr. Gilmor is survived by his wife of 56 years; his daughter, Mary Gilmor of New Windsor, NY and her husband, Steven Weinrit; his son, John Gilmor of Millerton, NY and his wife, Jan; his daughter, Susan Gilmor of Winston-Salem, NC; his grandson, Christopher Ward of New Windsor, NY; his granddaughter, Jennifer Ward of Alhambra, CA; his sister, Esther Jane Gilmor Leffler of Massillon and her husband, Dr. Richard Leffler. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Wishart Gilmor of Massillon and his wife, Evelyn. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas W., Canton, OH, with Pastor Rusty Cowden and Rev. Douglas A. Patton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church or to a charity of choice. A reception for friends will follow the service. The Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Packa
Robert L. Packa, age 64, of Perry Township, died Tuesday night in Doctors Hospital after a two month illness. A life resident of the Canton area, he was a 1956 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He retired after 35 years of service with the Air National Guard 154th Unit and the Army National Guard 107th Unit. He was a member of the Adoniram - Joppa Lodge # 517 F. A.M., Ohio National Guard Enlisted Association, the Civil Air Patrol, the Amvets, and was a life member of the American Legion Post #221. He was an amateur radio operator with the call letters K8ZQO. Survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia A. Packa of the home; a daughter, Linda Packa of Houston, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Fran Packa; and a grandson, David Lee Packa, all of Milford, CT; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anne Lamoreaux of Canton and Laura and Dean Hofacre of North Canton; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Harry and Marie Packa of Brookville, FL, Louis Packa of North Canton, Edward and Jane Packa of Canton, and Richard and Marie Packa of Galveston, TX. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry J. and Anna R. Packa and a sister, Dorothy Irey. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Fr. Ronald Klingler officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The American Legion Post #221 will provide an Honor Guard.

Rollin W. Krabill
Rollin W. Krabill, age 88, of Orrville, OH., passed away Monday June 3rd, 2002. He was a life long resident of the Louisville area until 1995 when he moved to Orrvilla Retirement Community in Orrville. He earned degrees from Goshen College and Kent State university. As an elementary school educator for 39 years in the Stark County Schools. He taught at Mapleton, Sandyville and Freeburg, served as the first principle of Washington Twp. Elementary School for 21 years and later helped plan the Marlington Middle School and served as its first principle for 5 years. After retiring from public education in 1975, he served as principle at Lake Center Christian School in Hartville, OH for three years. he also taught a course for 2 quarters at Malone College. Mr. Krabill was a lifetime member of the Beech Mennonite Church, and active Lay Leader with roles including Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Bible School Teacher and Superintendent and Church Council Member. He served as secretary of the Ohio Mennonite Mission Board for over ten years and gave programs and visited churches in the conference. He was a member of the Washington Ruritan Club for over 30 years and served as its president in 1977. He held memberships in the Ohio Education Association and the Stark County Administrators. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Minnie (Carper) Krabill; and two sisters, Viola Shore and Nola Yoder. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys (Johns) Krabill; son, Dr. Richard S. Krabill of Madison, OH; daughter, Joan Gross of Syracuse, NY; one grandson; and two great granddaughters all of Camillus, NY. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Beech Mennonite Church in Louisville with Rev. Fred Miller officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville, and one hour before services on Sunday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Ruth V. Means
Ruth V. Means, age 85, of Louisville, passed away at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, following a lengthy illness. Friends may call Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 8th. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Graham of the Fairhope United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

William J.R. Serafini
William J.R. Serafini, age 61, of Canton, died Tuesday in Doctors Hospital following a brief illness. Son of the late William and Velma (Rinard) Serafini. He was a Canton area resident since 1952. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Serafini. Survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Cindy Serafini of Canton; one sister-in-law, Barbara Serafini of Canton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave., with Fr. Gerald Sommer M.S.C. officiating. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. William M. Wright
William M. Wright, age 79, of Macon, GA., formerly of Canton, died Tuesday afternoon at Oconne Regional Hospital, Milledgeville, GA. He was born on March 7, 1923 in Glenville, WV., and had resided in the Canton area most of his life until moving in 1991 to Macon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of the VFW in Warner Robins, GA. He was employed as a truck driver for St. Regis Paper Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1975. William was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie (Pankavich) Wright in 1991; his parents , Wilbur and Nettie Wright; brother, Mandall Wright; sisters, Grace Conway and Rema Wilfong. He is survived by his son, Mickey Wright of Macon; two grandchildren, Gregory Wright and Joanna Wright; and sister, Maxine Neff of Paducah, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, Rev. Raymond L. Tucker officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Reed Funeral Home.
