Ron D. Saylor
NORTON, Ohio - Ron D. Saylor, 54, passed on February 25, 2006 following a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Ron graduated from Barberton High School in 1970 and has resided in the Norton area since 1986. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the U of A in 1974 and continued his education at Kent State earning his Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 1979. He worked as guidance counselor at Buckeye H. S. from 1979 to 1997 followed by Wadsworth H. S. from 1997 to 2005. During this time, he attended the U of A’s Law School where he earned a Juris Doctor. After obtaining his law degree, he chose to continue his career in education because he wanted to impact young people and devote more time to his family. He enjoyed a 28 year career in public school education where he had great influence on many young people. Ron was also active in coaching high school sports and treasured the life-long friendships of several of the young men he coached. He never missed an OSU football game and he enjoyed vacationing in the Charleston, SC area. He attended Grace Church in Norton.
After learning of the recurrence of his cancer in 2004, he addressed the student body of Wadsworth High School about the importance of living each day to its fullest. He introduced the “Pay It Forward” concept in his speech. The student body has embraced this philosophy and have created a program where those who “Pay It Forward” are recognized.
He was preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Theda Saylor; sister-in-law, Debbie Miller and brother-in-law, Bob McCloud.
Ron was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 30 1/2 years, Mary K. and he was most proud of his only child, Matthew. He is also survived by brothers, Dale (Heather) Saylor, Jeff (Barb) Saylor; sister-in-law, Kendra McCloud; brother-in-law, Robert Miller; nieces and nephews, Jamie Saylor, Nathan Saylor, Dawn Miller, Drew Saylor, Robert Miller, Kristin Saylor, Scott Saylor, Hannah Saylor and Haleigh Saylor; and “special son” , Michael Waun.
Ron was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. His quiet strength will be remembered and cherished by those who loved him. His life was a testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ. He is now rejoicing in Heaven after hearing his Heavenly Father say “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Robert D. Hickman
NORTON: Robert D. Hickman, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2006.
Robert was born on July 13, 1927 to Edward and Lula Hickman. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He worked as a rubber worker with BF Goodrich for many years and was a member of the URW for 43 years. He attended Akron Baptist Temple.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mildred; son, Jack (Rhonda) Hickman; daughter, Judy (Jeff) Lewis; grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Baer, Jason (Myssi) Lewis and Jamie (Amy) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Bradon, Damon, Kylie, Tyler and Alaina; brother, Glee (Margaret) Hickman; sisters, Elsie Pryor and Mary Holloway and many nieces and nephews.

Ronald (Ronnie) J. Martin, Sr.
Ronald “Ronnie” J. Martin, Sr., 60, passed away suddenly April 8, 2006. He was born March 10, 1946 in Akron and graduated from Green High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver for over 30 years and was currently employed by HeartLand Express. Ron was known for his infectious smile, his hard working attitude and his never ending love for Deb and ‘Lil Ron. He loved nothing more than coming home and riding his Yamaha V-Star. Ron’s motto was “It just keeps getting better!”
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deb; son, ‘Lil Ron of Akron; daughter, Angela; brother, Ralph; grandson, Justin of Akron; many precious brothers/sisters-in-law; several beautiful nieces and nephews; number one and most loved friend, Albert and many other wonderful friends.

Rosemarie Sweazy
NORTON - Rosemarie (nee Clifford) (Little Bit) Sweazy, 54, passed away Oct. 19, 2001. She was born in Wadsworth, Ohio on February 27, 1947. She was employed by the Lab Care Company in Barberton as a courier. She had attended Emmanuel Christian Assembly in Barberton and loved to go shopping and to the Thrift Store. Rosemarie had a wonderful ability to take nothing and make it into something wonderful; she worked hard and loved her job. Rosemarie was very compassionate, giving to others and had a love for all animals. She deeply loved her grandchildren and was loved by her children who will miss her.
Rosemarie is survived by her son, Michael (Shelley Ann) Sweazy of Barberton; daughters, Kimberly Sweazy of Alaska; Terri (Pete) Alexander of Barberton; brothers, Delbert (Linda) Sweazy and Michael (Debbie) Gooslin; sisters, Neala (Tom) Winn; grandchildren, Mariah, Madison , Brandon , Marielle, Allison Rose, Hannah and Abigayle.

Roy Starcher
Roy Starcher, 89 of Coventry Township, went home to be with the Lord December 9, 2007. He was born in Woodridge, W.V. on July 30, 1918 to Levi and Nevada Starcher. He served in the U.S. Army, retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber and had attended Lockwood United Methodist Church.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mae. He leaves behind his son Dennis (Doris) Starcher and grandson, David Starcher.
Funeral services will be held at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. Map to funeral home, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Jeff Layton officiating. Interment at Lockwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Living Faith Worship, in memory of Roy.
Ruth Tillman
Ruth Tillman, 87, passed away February 11, 2008. She was born October 26, 1920 in Valley Grove, Alabama. She greatly loved her family and was devoted to them. She enjoyed attending Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thurman; son-in-law, Ray Kyle; and granddaughter, Lora Leigh Kyle. She is survived by her son, Greg Tillman; daughters, Rebecca Kyle and Margie (Pat) Munson; grandchildren, Seth, Shawn (Sonya), Amber (Phil), Zeke (Amanda), and Leah (Lalo); seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Scott A. Alderman
Scott "Spanky" Alderman passed away Friday, June 18, 2004 after a long illness. Scott was born April 1, 1965 and graduated from Manchester High School and Portage Lakes JVS in 1984. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, he is survived by his loving wife Sharon (nee Voss) and daughter Shelby, his greatest accomplishment and the love of his life. He is also survived by his parents, Chuck and Gerri Alderman; sister, Traci (Dale) Butler; brothers, Brian and Rodney (Susan) Alderman; nephew and nieces, Brandon, Elizabeth and Miranda; father and mother-in-law, Rev. T. H. and Jean Voss.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Heart Group and Dr. Fernando Grigera for their wonderful care of Scott.

Sherry A. Jordan
Sherry Ann Jordan, 60, after being a breast cancer survivor for the past four years went home to be with her mother on February 20, 2008. She was born in Akron and was a lifetime resident of this area. Sherry worked as an Office Manager at Richardson’s Enterprise. She was an avid reader and loved traveling and playing bingo, computer games and puzzles. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she always enjoyed her time with them.
Sherry was preceded in death by her grandmother, Anna Horvath and her mother, Anna Miller. She is survived by her sons, Gerald Bodnar (Daniel Hamm) and Kevin Jordan (Casey Walter); daughter, Stephanie (Rodney) Nelson; husband, Ken Jordan; grandchildren, Anna, Jacob, Alexis and Bayleigh; sisters Diane Case, Kathy (Mike) Haddad, Alexa Hanson and April Nicholson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Rick Hanson, Donna Ferre and Debbie Burns.

Silas Bartell Righter
Silas Bartell Righter, born Oct. 5, 1912 to William and Ella Righter in Akron, passed away peacefully Jan. 4, 2006, after a long illness. Silas was a graduate of Hammel Actual Business College. He was a builder and a cabinet maker and was very proud of his work. After he retired, he loved working in his garden, his flowers, working in his woodshop, and above all, watching his ballgames.
Silas is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alma; daughters, Cindy (John) Regan, Jeanne Eckroad, and Joyce (Sherm) Grant; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard of Cuyahoga Falls, and Vince of Florida; sister, Lumma Robb of Arizona; many nieces and nephews.

Terry G. Swain
Terry G. Swain, 49, passed away Jan. 26, 2006. He was born Feb. 20, 1956 in Cuyahoga Falls. He worked as a lithographer for American Color Print, Inc. and was a member of St. Francis De Sales Church. He was the greatest man we knew. He devoted his life to his grandchildren, four boys, and most of all his wife. He will be dearly missed by all.
Terry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judith; sons, Brandon (Denise), Jeffrey (Jami), Justin, and Ryan; grandchildren, Tori, Logan, Julia Grace, and another baby on the way; mother, Jo Ann; sister, Christina; cousin, Dave; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Thomas George Bogdanovich
Thomas “Tom” George Bogdanovich, 50, went to be with the Lord March 19, 2006. Born Dec. 22, 1955 in Akron, he was self employed with Tom’s Drywall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bogdanovich and is survived by his sons, Brian and Tommy Lee; mother, Shirley Bogdanovich; sister, Diane (Roger) Hendrix; brothers, Mike Bogdanovich and Mark (Lynn) Bogdanovich; loving nephews and nieces.
