Blanche E. Goddard
Blanche E. Goddard, age 85, of Louisville, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. Blanche was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Samuel and Mary (Myers) McMullen. She was a former nurse at St. Joseph Hospice and over the years worked at many of the area nursing homes. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Blanche will be best remembered for a life well spent in the pursuit of helping others. Blanche leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Michael Hughes of Louisville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James W. Goddard of Louisville, Jan and Amy Goddard of Hartville and William and Mary Lou Goddard of Columbus; a sister, Charlotte Pauley of Yaupon Beach, NC; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Goddard, who passed away May 19, 1979. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Elizabeth Helen Betty Fostines, age 80, of Boca Raton, FL, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. Survived by her loving family. Arrangements entrusted to the Robert J. Babione Funeral Home, Boca Raton.
Frederick Kuhl, III
Frederick Duane Kuhl, III, age 29, died suddenly May 31, 2002, from a motor vehicle accident. He is survived by parents, Frederick and Bertha Kuhl II of Canal Fulton; sister, Terri and Mark Gregorich and nephew of Brewster; fiancee, Rachelle Highman and daughter, Brianna of Brewster; grandparents, Delorus Hyde of Canal Fulton, Charles Mettler Sr. of Logan, Frederick and Maxine Kuhl of Clinton; aunts, uncles and cousins. A loving son, devoted father, he will be missed very much. Funeral services Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton), where friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. Burial in Clinton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of the family.
Harold S. Sayre
Harold S. Sayre, age 98, of North Canton, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Waverly, OH, the son of Ellsworth P. and Belle M. Sayre. Harold was a graduate of Ohio State University in 1927 and was the principal of Matamora High School for three years. He left Matamora in 1930 to work with his father who was ill at Barber College in Columbus. He started the first licensed beauty college in Ohio in Akron in 1933 and owned National Beauty College in Canton in June 1955. Harold owned and operated Sayre Beauty School in Toledo, Ellsworth Beauty College in Cleveland, Sayre Barber and Beauty in Akron, Alliance Beauty College in Alliance and Wooster Beauty College in Wooster. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte; daughter, Cherie Parker of North Canton; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Cheryl (Parker) and Karl Beitzel; great-grandson, Damon Beitzel. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Harold Chris Parker and brother, M. Arnold Sayre. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton, with the Church of Jesus Christ providing the minister. Burial in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
Irene T. Snyder
Irene T. Snyder, age 84, of Louisville, OH, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2002, in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center following an extended illness. Born in Louisville, OH, July 16, 1917, to her parents, the late Elmer E. and Elva M. (Hershberger) Finley. She was a member of the Center Church of the Brethren and Daughters of America. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merriam; two brothers, Ian and Robert Finley. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Frank Kirby of Louisville, OH, Rhoda and Jack Polen of North Dakota, Patricia Stout of Canton, OH, Brenda and Roger Green of North Carolina. There are 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Center Church of the Brethren, 2801 Ravenna Ave. NE, Louisville, OH, with Rev. Andrew Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Center Church Cemetery. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in her name to the Center Church of the Brethren.
Isabelle Fowler
Isabelle Fowler, age 95, of Canton, OH, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, June 2, 2002, in Manor Care Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in Massillon, OH, Nov. 24, 1906, to her parents, the late John and Sadie Jane (Welch) Cunningham, she lived the greater portion of her life in Canton and was preceded in death by her husband, Fire Captain Luther A. Fowler, April 19, 1977 and her daughter, Patricia Westfall, in 1984. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Survivors include three children, Annabelle Lee Au of Carrollton, OH, Robert L. Fowler of Canton, OH and Barbara L. Anderson of Texas. There are six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home Tuesday 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Heart Assoc.

Nadine L. (Loudy) Lay, age 48, of Canal Fulton, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in her home. Preceded in death by father, William Loudy; brothers, Lawrence Earl Loudy and Lowell Loudy. Survived by daughter Nicole (Ron Zambetti) Lay; son, Jason Lay; fiance, Brad Lowe; mother, Crystal Huntzinger. Funeral service Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with David Dahlstein officiating. Entombment in Hillside Memorial Park. Naomi Killins
Naomi Killins, of Massillon, passed away on May 31, 2002, at Massillon Community Hospital. She was born in Columbus, OH, and had lived in the Massillon area for many years. She was a past member of St. James AME Church, where she was active in the choir. Mrs. Killins was also a union representative for Ekco Houseware, where she was employed for several years. She was preceded in death by husband, Warren Killins, parents, one brother and one sister. She leaves many memories to sons, George (Ethel) Pettis Jr. of Detroit, MI, Jerome M. Young of Massillon, Gregory (Gayle) Young of St. Paul, MN, Warren P. Killins of Dallas, TX and Tyrone Holland of Columbus, OH; daughters, Jacqueline Young, Phyllis Flowers and Linda Thomas, all of Massillon; specials friends, Charles Burke and Melvin and Marie Pledgure; 22 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 12 Noon at Rhoden Memorial Home, 729 Cherry Ave. NE. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Rodney L. Carson
Rodney Lee Carson, age 48, of Minerva, died in Barberton Hospital June 1, 2002, following an apparent heart attack. Born in Alliance, OH, May 27, 1954, he was the son of Paul and Eleanor (Myers) Carson of Minerva. He was an avid golfer, loving husband and father, a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva and was employed at Republic Waste as a customer service representative. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Gean (Gruber), whom he married Aug. 1, 1981; son, Matthew of Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Sarah and Stephanie of the home; sisters, Linda Pitts of Columbus, Darlene Lutz of Minerva; brothers, David and Daniel of Minerva; grandmother, Ethel Myers of Alliance. Mass of Christian Burial will be said Wednesday, June 5, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Celebrant Msgr. John Michael Campbell. Calling hours will be held at the church Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Wanda J. Minor
Wanda J. (Wanie) Minor, age 66, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Lucille (Coney) Huguley. She attended schools in Canton and was a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served the Lord in any capacity that she could. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gregory Minor Sr., grandson, Andre Minor, great-grandson, Markus Floyd II and sister, Mattie Coleman. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish memories to a husband of 48 years, Charles Minor; daughters, Chyvonne Minor, Yolanda Humphries, Cherisse Minor, Kim Fentress and Cathy (Terry) Ruffin; son, Charles Minor Jr.; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Jane) Huguley; sisters-in-law, Wanetta Minor and Joyce Minor of Akron and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at 12 Noon at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where Pastor Corey Johnson will be officiating. William Niswonger
William G. Niswonger, age 50, of Mayfair Ave., Minerva, died at 10:16 p.m. Friday at Alliance Community Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Niswonger was born Nov. 14, 1951 in Salem, OH, to George A. and Martha G. (Aman) Niswonger. He was retired from Buckeye Industrial Mining and was owner-operator of Niswonger Construction Electric. He was a member of the I.H.R.A. Dragracing Group. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Victoria L. (Marra) Niswonger of the home; three daughters, Julie (Rick) Dean of Alliance, Jennifer (Burt) Goschall and Kim (Shayne) Harsh, all of Minerva; one son, William J. (Chisti) Niswonger of Hanoverton; his mother, Martha G. Niswonger of Hanoverton; two sisters, Deb (Dan) Delp of Kensington and Margaret (Wayne) Dunn of Salineville; two brothers, Wes Niswonger of Salem and Bob Niswonger of Kensington; 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. A Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring with Rev. Ruby Carnes officiating. Arrangements are by the Dean's Funeral Home, Sebring.
