Doris S. Fechheimer
Doris S. Fechheimer, age 68, of North Canton, passed away Saturday morning after a lengthy illness of Alzheimers. Survived by her husband, Richard; son, Mark; two brothers, nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Private burial will be in North Canton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., 4815 Munson St. N.W. Canton 44718.

Elwyn H. Becker
Elwyn H. Becker, age 86, of Canton, died Saturday in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Marietta, OH., he had resided here since 1929. A graduate of Akron University, Mr. Becker was a retired Chemist from Edmont-Wilson Rubber retiring in 1973. He was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church, AARP of Belden Village, American Chemistry Society, and the Akron Rubber Group. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Becker of the residence; son, Larry Becker of Massillon; three grandchildren and spouses: Natalie and Daniel Stelluto, Eric and Jennifer Becker and Nicole and Raul Contu; three great-grandchildren, Raul Contu, Joey and Tanner Stelluto. Funeral service will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. N.W., with Dr. Chester H. Harris officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (tonight) from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dueber United Methodist Church, 645 Dueber Ave. S.W., Canton, OH 44706.

Ethelene (Brown) Royal
Ethelene (Brown) Royal, 69, passed away in a nursing home in Phoenix, AZ., after a long illness. Ethelene a life long resident of Canton, was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Alfred L. Meacham. She attended Belden Grade School and was a 1950 graduate of McKinley High School. Besides her parents and husband, Dr. Andrew Royal she was preceded in death by sisters, Thelma, Dorothy and Helen Meacham and Anna Mae Brown; brothers, Lloyd, Charles and Louis Meacham. She is survived by her son, Andrew-Royal Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Beulah (Meacham) Buckner of Columbia, MD; brother, James (wife, Mozzelle), Fredrick Meacham both of Canton, Richard Meacham of West Minister, CA., David (wife, Peggy) Meacham of Harbor City, CA; nephew, John Meacham of Canton; sister-in-law, Margaret Meacham of Cleveland, OH. Our loving sister Ethelene is greatly missed by her brothers, sisters and friends. Arrangements are pending and will be held in Montclare, NJ.

Florence Anderson
Florence M. Anderson, age 88, of Canton, passed away Sunday Morning, April 28, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. She retired as a Office Nurse for Dr. Ned F. Bauhof; and was the former Director of Nursing Services for the American Red Cross Canton Chapter. She was a Senior member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, and sang with the Canton Women's Chorus. She was also a member of the Stark Carroll Nursing Assoc., serving on various committees; and a 50 year Red Cross volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L., in 1974. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou (Pete) Rowland of Magnolia, TX; and a son, James W. (Ian) Anderson of Akron; also surviving are four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Westbrook Park United Methodist Church with Rev. David Case officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home, and Thursday, 10-10:30 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westbrook Park United Methodist Church Music Fund.

Frederick S. Herr
Frederick S. Herr. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Zion Lutheran Church, 349 Lindy Lane in North Canton with Rev. Jean Hanson officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends will be received at Karlo and Sons, 512 South Main Street, Tuesday (tonight) 6-7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridge Road, Akron, OH 44333.

Harry W. Smitley
Harry W. Smitley, age 73, of Navarre, OH, died Monday, April 29, 2002 in Doctors Hospital following a sudden illness. Born March 11, 1929 in Gnadenhutten, OH and lived most of his life in Stark County. Veteran of U.S. Airforce. Graduate of Dover High School. Member of Navarre VFW Post #5047 and Navarre Loyal Order of the Moose $2471. Retired from Timken Roller Bearing Co. in 1990. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Elsie (Warner) Smitley. Survived by wife, Reta J. (Eash) Smitley; daughter, Lori A. Smitley of Salesville, OH, Karen R. Smitley of Strasburg, OH, Holly J. Houk of Waynesburg, OH, Londa J. Smitley of Canton; sisters Norma and Dorothy; seven grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home, Navarre, with Rev. Marcia M. Stalnaker officiating. Burial in East Union Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday two hours before the services 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Joseph N. Apisa
Joseph Nicolas Apisa, 75, passed away early Sunday morning in his home following an extended battle with ALS. He was born August 8, 1926, in Farrell, PA., to the late Domenico and Anastasia (Cipriano) Apisa. A World War II Veteran, he was a pilot in the Army Air Corps and was a resident of North Canton since 1958. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Akron, he was a member of Delta Tau Gamma, the American Society of Professional Engineers and AARP. A 44 year member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, North Canton; he also was an avid sportsman for 60 years and an active member of the Game Reserve Association. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace with 37 years of service and was instrumental in the development in the Nikezuss Missile Project in 1962 and for the Early Warning Radar Missile Detection while in the Kwajadlein Islands in the mid 1960's. A loving husband, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine (Meehan) and was a devoted father to his four sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Carolyn of Dayton, OH., Bryan and Kathy of Uniontown, Doug and Jan of Sharon Twp., and Kurt and Pam of Minerva; grandchildren Paul, Luke, Christy, Ashley, Corey, Nicholas, Kevin and Dominic will all miss Papa Joe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 241 South Main St., North Canton, with Rev. Fr. Robert Edwards as celebrant. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 p.m. in the Karlo Sons Funeral Home. Judy E. Fernandez
Judy E. Fernandez, age 47, of Canton, died Sunday in her home following an extended illness. Daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mildred A. (Elliott) Ritchie. She was a life resident of the Canton area and was a 1973 graduate of Sandy Valley High School. Employed by Concorde Therapy Group and was formerly employed by Mercy Medical Center. She was a member of the Perry Christian Church. Also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survived by her husband, Jeffrey K. Fernandez to whom she was married 28 years; one son, Jeffrey K. Fernandez, Jr. of Exton, PA; one daughter, Andrea Fernandez of Canton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Eugene Ritchie of Canton, Tom and Vickie Ritchie of East Sparta; two sisters, Gracie Burge and Mary Roudebush, both of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave., with Douglas H. Simpson officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alliance Hospice, 2367 West State St., Alliance, OH 44601. The family would like thank everyone at the Concorde Therapy Group for their support and a special thank you to everyone at Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Program.

Leona L. Rinehart
Leona L. Rinehart, age 85, of Steubenville Rd., Carrollton, OH died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Aultman Hospital, Canton. She was born on March 2, 1917 in Perry Twp., Carroll County, OH. She was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Sadie B. (Beckley) Kail. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton and a life of Carroll County. She was a former employee of the former Al's IGA of Carrollton. She was married on Nov. 23, 1936 to James F. Rinehart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Donna Rinehart of Carrollton, James A. and Ann Rinehart of Stockbridge, GA; one daughter, Mrs. Bonita Manfull of Wadsworth; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton, with Rev. Jack Lemley officiating. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Golden Age Retreat, Kensington Rd., Carrollton, OH 44615.

Margaret Koufos
Margaret Koufos. Funeral services will be Wednesday with a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Pastrikos and Rev. Fr. Anthony Spirotos officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday (tonight) 6-9 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. Trisagion services will be held at 8 p.m. tonight.

Mary Jacobson
Mary Jacobson, age 90, of Canton, died Sunday night in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Hungary, she had been a Canton resident since 1920. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and St. Joan of Arc Altar-Rosary Society, and was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Guild. She was a former president of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. Preceded in death by her husband, John E. Jacobson; two sons, Lawrence A. and Thomas G. Jacobson; her parents, George and Barbara (Kisman) Yelichek; her stepmother, Rose Yelichek; a sister, Barbara Wellman; a brother, Peter Yelichek. Survived by a daughter, Monica Jacobson of Canton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John L. and Barbara Jacobson of Canton and Peter M. Jacobson and his companion, Nancy Hentsch of North Canton; seven grandchildren, Beverly Jacobson, Christine (Jack) Oster, Jane (Jeff) Martin, Barbara (Douglas) Stevens, Rebecca (Waheed) Jami, Mary Jacobson and Emily Jacobson; seven great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and William Machuga of Canton; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Betty Yelichek of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Klingler, Fr. J. Patrick Manning and Fr. Thomas Dyer as concelebrants. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Church Organ Fund.

Mildred C. Feucht
Mildred C. Feucht, age 96, of Navarre, died Sunday at Hospitality House following a one year illness. Born August 30, 1905, to Robert F. and Mary (Selzer) Scheufler, she lived her entire life in the Navarre area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert Feucht in 1996; a sister, Georgine Sterner; and a brother, Walter Scheufler. Mildred was a member of Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church. She had formerly been a lifetime member of Smoketown Church, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. Memberships include Navarre Golden Agers, Navarre Young at Heart Club, Stark County Farm Bureau, and Fairless Senior Citizens. She had formerly been a 4-H advisor for 36 years and was honored to be the Navarre Landmark Days Queen in 1980. Survivors include sons, R. Dale Feucht of Navarre and Dr. Theodore C. Feucht of Dalton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Juanita Reynolds of Navarre. Funeral services will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Brown officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday 6-9 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Shaidnagle in Navarre and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Contributions are suggested to Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church, 121 Basis St., Navarre, OH 44662.

Mildred D. Scheetz
Mildred D. Scheetz, age 80, of Canton died Sunday, April 28 in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Brookside Country Club where she was active in Ladies Bowling League and Ladies Golf League, Oakwood Country Club and Oakwood Ladies Golf League, and Glenmoor Country Club. She was a former Gray Lady and Red Cross Volunteer, and a world traveler. Survived by husband, Joseph Scheetz of the home with whom she celebrated their 56th anniversary October 13th; daughter and son-in-law, Johanna and Lee Schaffer; sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Cynthia Scheetz, Lawrence and Dani Scheetz all of Jackson Twp; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Sparma and Margaret Lawver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Zamary officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home. 5000 Everhard Rd.

Ronald C. Ruflin
Ronald C. Ruflin, age 53, of Canton, died Saturday in the Mercy Medical Center Emergency Room after a sudden illness. Born in Canton, he was a life resident of the Canton-Louisville area. He was a 1967 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1971 graduate of Walsh College. Ron was employed by Grady McCauley Inc., and formerly had worked at Cornwell Quality Tool Co. and HP Products. He was a member of the Committee for the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles. Preceded in death by his parents, Marvin J. and Loretta R. (Dwyer) Ruflin. Survived by two sisters, Sr. Marilyn Ruflin, H.M., of Youngstown, and Elizabeth (Betty) Morgan of Collingswood, N.J.; a brother, Rick Ruflin of Louisville; and two nephews and three nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Bradford Helman as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:30-8:00 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Service with a sharing of memories Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, Villa Maria, PA 16155.

Russell B. Dieringer
Russell B. Dieringer, age 89, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday evening in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Waynesburg, OH, a son of the late Charles and Iva Burwell Dieringer, and had been an East Sparta resident since 1953. He was a 1930 graduate of Waynesburg High School. Mr. Dieringer retired in 1981 from Boger Construction Co., after 11 years service, where he was a laborer. He was a member of East Sparta Christian Church and A.A.R.P. Chapter #1687 in Canton. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Opal N. Dieringer, with whom he would have celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on May 14th; his daughter, Lynn Crisp, of Canton; three grandchildren, Amy Holcomb, Jennifer McDonald and her husband, Jeremy, all of Canton, and Michael Holcomb, of Kingsport, TN. Services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in East Sparta Christian Church with Don Phelps and Denny Hazen officiating. Interment in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. 7-9 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Thur. 12-1 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Dieringer's memory may be made to East Sparta Christian Church, East Sparta, OH 44626.

Steve Ristoff
Steve Ristoff, age 82, of Tarpon Springs, FL, died on Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Mease Countryside Hospital. He was born in Macedonia and moved to New York City, USA, when he was 16. He moved to Pinellas County in 1984 from Canton, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and landed in Normandy Beach and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for Ford Motor Co. as a Parts Inspector in Canton, OH, until his retirement in 1981. He was a Christian and a member of St. George Orthodox Church in Canton, OH. He attended First Christian Church of Tarpon Springs, while residing in Florida. He was a lifetime member of the UAW. He was passionate about his family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kathryn of Tarpon Springs, FL; two sons, Ted Ristoff of Canton, OH and David (Darla) Ristoff of Palm Harbor, FL; one daughter, Deborah (Richard) D'Antonio of Winter Springs, FL; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Jim of Mansfield, OH and Spiro of Macedonia.

William A. Gallucci
William A. Gallucci. Memorial Services will be conducted Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home.
