Donna J. Pettinger
Donna J. Pettinger, age 60, of Canton, died Wednesday evening following an extended illness with cancer. She was born July 2, 1941, in Canton and graduated from Glenwood High School. She was employed for 30 years as a laboratory technician with Mercy Medical Center. Preceded in death by her parents, Arline and Leo Pettinger, Donna is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, David and Norma Swanson and their daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Dennis Brumbaugh, Judy and Russell Bennett, Lori and Douglas Noebe and their son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Audra Swanson. She was a very special great aunt to Adam, Joshua and Jeffrey Bennett, Michael Noebe and Matthew, Jacob and Joseph Swanson. Funeral services will be held at Karlo Sons Funeral Home, 512 S. Main, North Canton, on Sat., April 27, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael M. Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Bethany United Methodist Church, 3906 Easton St. NE, Canton, OH 44721. My sister, our aunt, our great-aunt whom God gave to us for a time to share. Those whose lives she blessed and touched with her light of laughter and love knew of His gift to us. And when her beacon of light began to fade, our heavenly Father cradling her in His arms, called her home to shine her light in eternity forever.
Edward Turner, Jr.
Edward A. Turner, Jr., age 71, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of Canton, passed away Tuesday evening, April 23, 2002 in North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach. Born February 8, 1931 in Patterson, NJ, to the late Edward A. and Irene (Rydell) Turner, Sr. Edward attended Lehman High School and graduated from North Canton High School. He retired from Bank One as vice-president of consumer loans. He was also employed by the Commercial Credit Corporation, Alside Inc. and The May Company. Member of the Canton, Akron and Ravenna Kennel Clubs and the Pompano Beach Yacht Club. Survived by his wife, Victoria (Wilmington) Turner; two daughters and son-in-law, Virginia and Brian Hunter of Baltimore, MD, Laura Johnson of Gettysburg, PA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen E. Turner of Southgate, MI, Ted N. and Cheryl Turner of Aurora, OH; sister and brother, Karin M. and George R. Stoffer of North Canton; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Turner, Joshua Turner, Christopher Hunter, Brooke Hunter, Michael Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Tyler Turner, Kaley Turner and Shelby Turner; and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. Private family interment will take place in North Lawn Cemetery on Monday.
Frances Arlene Sponseller
Frances Arlene Sponseller, age 80, of Minerva, died Wednesday April 24, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness. Born in Minerva, OH., January 31, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Earl and Gertrude (Smith) Wingert. She worked as an accounting clerk with Columbia Gas of Ohio in Minerva and Alliance and was a member of the East Rochester United Methodist Church, the Business Woman's Club, Bayard Grange, Genealogical Society and Secretary of AARP 1961. Survivors include her brother, Paul (Phyllis) Wingert of Minerva; sister, Mrs. Erma (Robert) Ready of Mansfield, OH; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland in 1978; and brother, Donald who was killed in WWII. Funeral services will be held in the Bartley Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002 with Pastor Jim Ford officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Informal calling hours will be at Bartley Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and with the family present from 6-9 p.m.
Marilyn Marconi
Marilyn Anne Marconi, age 65, of Brevard County, FL, formerly of Canton, OH, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 in her home. Mimi was born in Massillon, OH. She moved to Florida in 1975. Along wither husband, Ben, she was co-owner of Marconi Pontiac GMC. She was a member of LaCita Country Club and the Wuesthoff Hospital Foundation Board. Mimi is survived by children, Micki Mueller, Mike Marconi and Susan Galey; sister, Patricia Rohrer; brother, Dan Haley; grandson Mason Marconi. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wylie-Baxley Rockledge Funeral Home, Rockledge, FL. Norma V. Benson
Norma V. Benson, age 81, of Canal Fulton formerly of North Lawrence, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Rose Lane Health Center. Norma was born November 10, 1920 in Massillon, OH to the late Louis and Teckla Sander, was a graduate of the Massillon School of Nursing and was a retired Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church, North Lawrence and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of the Church. Preceded in death by husband, Clarence Pete Benson and brother, John Sander. Survived by two sons, Dub (Linda) Benson of White Lake, MI and Robert (Marcia) Benson of Louisville, OH; five grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur (Mary) Sander of Massillon and Al Sander of Oklahoma. Funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. Burial in Newman's Creek Cemetery. Visitation Friday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, Rt. 93, Canal Fulton and Saturday one hour prior to time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church.
Ronald W. Allen
Ronald W. Allen, age 64, of Jackson Township, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 24, 2002, in his residence following a long illness. He was born April 19, 1938, in Canton to the late Clifford and Gladys Allen and has been a life long resident of Canton. He graduated in 1957 from McKinley High School. Ronald was a conveyor mechanic at the Hoover Company, retiring after 40 years of service. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of North Canton Eagles #2223. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara; daughter, Tina Allen; granddaughters, Monica, Megan and Kimberly; two sisters, Joan (Pat) Falkosky of San Diego, CA, Harriet (Ralph) Greer of Amsterdam, OH. Preceded in death by a brother, Clem Morris. Funeral services will be Monday 11 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Douglas A. Patton officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday (10-11 a.m.). Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
