Florence Vitale
Florence (Besselman) Vitale, age 85, of Canton, passed away Friday afternoon after a brief illness. She was a resident of The Inn. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton. She was retired from Higbee's and Dillard's Dept. stores after 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cecelia Lundy Besselman; her husband, Robert Vitale, daughter, Kathleen Linderburger in 1966 and three sisters, Maria Pero, Rose Morena and Mildred Skidmore, two brothers, William and Gerald Besselman. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sophia Vitale of Canton, Timothy Vitale of Canton, Christopher and Sharion Vitale of Westerville, OH; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Frank Elswick of Santa Maria, CA; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Cletus Frank of Alliance, OH; 14 grandchildren; and also a number of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church with Mgsr James Clarke as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Private services and a brief prayer service on Monday morning at the Rossi Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church, 241 S. Main St., North Canton, OH 44720.
Grace I. Watts
Grace I. Watts, age 97, of Canton, died Saturday afternoon at Aultman Hospital following a nine day stay. Born in East Greenville, OH, she lived briefly in Massillon, but most of her life she resided in Lake Cable where she worked as a bookkeeper for Beaver Petroleum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Etta Jane (Tombow) Evans; husband, Milo Watts in 1975; sister, Lottie Watts; brothers, Clyde Evans, Charles Evans and Leroy Peek Evans. The past five and half years she was in the independent living section of the Canton Christian Home. Grace was a member of Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church and the International Porcelain Artists Inc. She is survived by a stepson and wife, Robert and Lois Watts of Canton; step grandchildren, Terri Hane and Gary Watts; nieces, June Beck, Beverly Hodgson, Joan Harrold and Sandra DeYarmon. Cremation has taken place. A. private burial will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 9th at 11 a.m. at Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church with Rev. Bryan George officiating. Contributions are suggested to the Canton Christian Home or Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church.

Inabelle C. Van Nostran
Inabelle C. Van Nostran, age 92, of Canton, passed away Friday, March 1, 2002, in Manor Care Health Services. Born in Pennsylvania to Wilma and Allan MacCowan, she moved to Canton in 1923. Inabelle married Myron G. Van Nostran in 1932. She worked at the Timken Co. for Dr. Hartland DDS, was a Girl Scout leader and homemaker. Inabelle was a member of Lowell United Church of Christ, the Altar Guild, Keenagers and a charter member Afternoon Garden Club of Canton. She enjoyed a life long love for gardening and flowers belonging to the Wilderness Center for many years. Her husband Myron G. Van Nostran preceded her in death November 14, 1994 and sister Mrs. Charlotte Merryman of Hopwood, PA. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda Rae and Jim Cusack; two grandchildren, Erin Cusack of Canton and Kevin (Debra) Cusack of Carlisle, MA and great-granddaughter, Sydney Cusack; brothers, Jack MacCowan of Austin, TX and Raymond (Kathy) MacCowan of Andersonville, IN; nieces, Anne Schafer of Mesa, AZ and Marsha Gray of Austin, TX; nephews, Jack (Doris) MacCowan and Kurt MacCowan of Austin, TX and Bob Foltz of Hopwood, PA. Memorial service will be Tuesday March 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Lowell United Church of Christ with Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Inabelle will be missed very much by her family, friends and her caregivers at Manor Care and Heartland Hospice. Mary E. Leatherman
Mary Ellen Leatherman, age 80, of Minerva, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Alliance Community Hospital following a short illness. Born in Dennison, OH, June 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Lindsay and Nora (Main) Camp. She was a home maker, a member of the Minerva United Methodist Church, a member of the 39ers Euchre Club of Sherrodsville for over 50 years and a past member of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Forest, whom she married in 1944, daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Eberhart of Newton Falls; son, Greg Leatherman of Malvern; granddaughters, Pam Mobus, Paula Kroll and Patti Willoughby of Minerva and Sue Leatherman of Carrollton; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in the Minerva United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Lausch officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva Untied Methodist Church.
Mary M. Huth
Mary M. Huth, age 73, of Canton, died Sunday in Mercy Medical Center after a two month illness. Born in Morges, OH, she had lived in the Canton-North Canton area most of her life. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Little Flower Altar and Rosary Society and the Little Flower Golden Agers. Survived by her husband of 40 years, James R. Huth of the home; twin children, Kevin M. Huth and Kathleen A. Huth, both of Canton; her grandson, John R. Huth of the home; a sister, Monica Enot of North Canton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard J. and Joan Halter of Louisville. Preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Emma (McCarty) Halter and a sister, Dolores Zaleski. Services are being arranged by Lamiell Funeral Home.

Nancy L. Dorland, age 67, of Canton, OH, passed away Saturday afternoon at the home following a brief illness. Born in Canton on February 21,1935 she was a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a former employee of Costigan's Office Supply and the Family Services on Canton. She was a member of First Christian Church of Canton and the Bible Study Group. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Helen McConnell, also by a sister, Ann Hayden and a brother, William McConnell. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Rhonda Dorland; two grandchildren, Alexa and Noah Dorland all of North Canton; two sisters, Joyce Bernosky of North Canton and Rosemary Stickle of Canton. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Hayes and Rev. Robert Cheyney officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home prior to services on Tuesday 9:30-11 a.m.
