Evelyn M. Jeffers Lamp, 69, of Dennison, O., died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Canton, O. She was born March 29, 1933, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Harvey and Virgie Hamilton Jeffers. She was a member of the Uhrichs-ville Church of the Nazarene in Uhrichsville, O.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda and Tom Pawlaczyk of Powhatan, O., and Tresa and James Wolfe of Belpre, O.; four sons, Charles and Lisa Lamp of New York, Gary and Dana Lamp of Dennison, O., Ronnie Lamp of Erie, Pa., and Larry and Brenda Lamp of Newport, O.; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Charles Jeffers of Newark, O., Harold Jeffers and James Jeffers, both of St. Marys, Roger Jeffers of Thorn-ville, O., David Jeffers of Front Royal, Va., Donald Jeffers of Woodsfield, O., and Randy Jeffers of Sardis, O.; three sisters, Peggy Coffman of St. Marys, Wanda Meade of Beallsville, O., and Lola Bowen of Powhatan, O. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bubbie Steven Jeffers; a sister-in-law, Violet Jeffers; and a nephew, Steven Jeffers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Marys Nazarene Church, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Mike Travis officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys, W.Va. Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, W.Va. and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Marjorie Mae Rippl
Marjorie Mae Rippl, 81, of Canton, O., died suddenly at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Altercare of Canton, O.
Born in Rice Lake, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 12, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Erling and Florence (Solomn) Anderson. She worked as a registered nurse, was a member of the First Christian Church of Malvern, O., and served in World War II in the Army Medical Corps.
She is survived by sons, David B. Rippl of Johnston, O., Terry L. Rippl of Gahanna, O., and Brett A. Rippl of New Albany, O.; daughters, Linda Rippl of Canal Fulton, O., Sally (John) Deininger of Malvern, O., and Robin (Don) Warner of North Canton, O.; sisters, Esther Knudson of Rice Lake, Wis. and Erline Erickson of Rice Lake, Wis.; brother, Owen Anderson of Cameron, Wis. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo Rippl.
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church of Malvern at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, with Mr. Eric Crites officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home in Malvern. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Bowl of Malvern First Christian Church.
John Duncan Moore
John Duncan Moore, 84, of Cadiz, O., formerly of Georgetown and Scio, O., passed away with his children at his bedside Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Carriage Inn of Cadiz.
He was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Georgetown, O., a son of the late John Henderson Moore and Mary Ellen “Mae” Sergeant Moore. He was a retired truck driver for Bedway Coal, Consolidation Coal, Short Creek Township. He was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church and Hanover United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Scio American Legion, Jewett VFW and Scio Sportsmen’s Club. He served in the Army in World War II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, June Ann Coyle Moore, in 1975; his second wife, Alberta Patterson Moore, in 1998; three sisters, Martha Maxine Moore, Mary Emma Stewart and Mildred Lucille Gilmore; and two granddaughters, Amanda Rae Moore and Sara Lee Moore.
Surviving are two sons, John Charles “Jack” and his wife, Sue Moore, of Georgetown-Cadiz, Jerry Ray and his wife, Jo Ellen Moore, of Georgetown-Cadiz; two daughters, Linda Lou and her husband, Bill Glover, of Adena, Tammie Lee Bumbico of Adena; eight grandchildren, Cinda Vargo, Joe Glover, Sherry Glover, Andy Moore, Ben Bomboris, Tommy Bumbico, Luke Bumbico, Samantha Moore and Gina Moore; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Love of Strongsville, O., Pauline Swan of Cadiz, O., Margaret Mercer of Harrisville, O., and Bernice Starcher of New Athens, O.; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, O. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at 1 p.m. in Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Scio American Legion.

John E. Rogers
John E. Rogers, 90, of Cadiz, O., died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1912, at Tappan Lake, O., a son of the late George W. Rogers and Gay Hayes Rogers. He owned and operated Rogers Western Auto in Cadiz for 58 years. He was a member of Scott United Metho-dist Church, where he was active on many committees and boards. He was past director of the former First National Bank of Cadiz and a past member of the former Cadiz Exempted Village School Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Frances Laughridge Ro-gers, in 1998; a daughter, Nancy Rogers Geanangel, in 1999; five sisters, Martha Green, Mary Alice West, Betty Trouten, Vera Mae Schubert and Anna Grace Minteer; and two brothers, Thomas and Edward Rogers.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Marcia) Carter of Cadiz; five grandchildren, John Geanangel of Columbia, S.C., Jeff Geanangel of Houston, Texas, Melinda Beebe of Bruns-wick, O., Kevin G. Carter of New Philadelphia, O., and Da-vid A. Carter of Pataskala, O.; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Austin and Haley Carter.

Sara Lynn Kugler
Sara Lynn Kugler, 4 months, died Sunday Dec. 1, 2002, at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Akron.
She was born July 31, 2002, in Canton, O., and was the infant daughter of Erik Jason Kugler and Bobbie Jo Eichel, both of New Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Tyler Alan Eichel of the home; maternal grandparents, Robert W. and Janet Eichel of Stone Creek; paternal grandparents, Wilma J. Snyder and Timothy G. (Shelly) Kugler of Dover; maternal great-grandparents, Dorothy Eichel of New Philadelphia and Nelly P. Jones of Dover; great-great-grandmother, Julia Dugan of New Philadelphia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Robert W. Eichel III; great-grandparents, Robert W. Eichel Sr., Jessie Ennis, Anna Hoopman, Denzel Jones and Margaret and Wayne Kugler; and a great-great-grandfather, George Dugan.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia, with Preacher Tim Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the graveside service, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, 217 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Hezery B. Harlow
Hezery B. Harlow, 84, of 139 7th St. SW, New Philadelphia, O., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at 11:11 a.m. in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.
He was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Cincinnati, O., a son of the late Joseph Harlow and Mary Saddler Harlow. On Dec. 20, 1954, he married the former Shirley Smith.
In addition to his wife, Shirley Smith Harlow of the home, he is survived by four sons, Anthony C. Harlow of New Philadelphia, Timothy Harlow and wife Elizabeth of Springdale, O., Thomas Harlow of Dennison and Gary Harlow and wife Tammy of Dennison; two daughters, H. Marie Johnson and husband Rev. Ray of New Philadelphia and Rosemary Orr and husband Rodney of Newport, Ky.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Harlow, mother, Mary Saddler Harlow; three brothers, Virgil Harlow, Bill Jarvis and Edward Jarvis; and sister, Ollie Harlow.
A New Philadelphia resident since 1996, he was a former resident of the Twin City area and Cincinnati. He was Pentecostal by faith. Hezery had been employed by F.H. Lawson in Cincinnati.
No services are planned. Visiting hours are Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, from 4 to 7 p.m. in R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home Inc. at Dennison, O., with Rev. Ray Johnson officiating.

Annie Troyer
Annie Troyer, 93, of 3954 County Rd. 141, Sugarcreek, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in her residence after a four-week illness. Born Feb. 26, 1908, in Holmes County, she was a daughter of the late Menno and Sarah Stutzman Beachy. She was a member of the Amish Church.
On Dec. 23, 1937, she married Noah R. Troyer, who died Nov. 15, 1967. Surviving are two sons, Robert N. and Sue Troyer of Sugarcreek and Ray N. and Clara Troyer of Millersburg; one daughter, Iva Troyer of the home; two brothers, Dan Beachy of Sarasota, Fla., and Noah Beachy of Millersburg; one sister, Mrs. Gertie Yoder of Fredericksburg; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Emanuel, Joe and William, and one sister, Mary Keim.
Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at 9 a.m. in the Robert N. Troyer residence with Bishop Delon Miller and Roy Kline officiating. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery in Clark Township. Calling hours are anytime at the Robert N. Troyer residence.
Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
Josiah Eric Troyer
Josiah Eric Troyer, age 23 months, of 4386 County Rd. 114, Sugarcreek, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Pomerene Memorial Hospital at Millersburg from injuries sustained in an accident.
He was born March 15, 2000, in Holmes County to Ben and Mary K. Miller Troyer Jr.
He attended New Order Amish Church.
Surviving are his grandparents, Ben A. and Mabel Troyer of Sugarcreek and Anna Miller of Topeka, Ind.; two brothers, Ben Linden Troyer III and Justin Shaun Troyer; and four sisters, Jolene Renae Troyer, Jessica Lynne Troyer, Bethany Elaine Troyer and Vonda Joy Troyer, all of the home.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jacob W. Miller.
Services will be Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at 9 a.m. in the Troyer residence with Bishop Henry C. Beachy officiating.
Burial will be in Beachy Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township. Calling hours are anytime at the residence.
Arrangements are being handled by the Butler-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
Noah A. Raber
Noah A. Raber, 70, of 3096 Township Rd. 110, Millersburg, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at 2:30 a.m. in his residence after an extended illness.
Born July 17, 1931, in Holmes County, he was a son of the late Abe C. and Emma Yoder Raber.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Saloma Miller, whom he married Oct. 23, 1952.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emanuel (Edna) Erb of Conneautville, Pa., and Vernie Raber of the home; three sons, Allen (Wilma) Raber of Sugarcreek, Paul (Clara) Raber and Adam (Lydiann) Raber, both of Millersburg; 21 grandchildren; three brothers, Abe Raber and David Raber, both of Millersburg, and Eli Raber of Florida; and one sister, Mattie Raber of Millersburg.
Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at 9 a.m. in the Adam N. Raber residence at 3096 Township Rd. 110, Millersburg. Bishop Ervin A. Schlabach will officiate, and burial will follow in Raber Cemetery in Mechanic Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
Velna A. Murphy
Velna A. Murphy, 88, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
Born in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alva S. and Bertha Mae Linard Johnston. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, the Faith Circle and a member of the Royal Neighbors for over 50 years.
Her husband, the late Howard W. “Pete” Murphy, precedes her in death. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Jerry L. (Lois) Murphy of Cincinnati and Dr. John H. (Susan) Murphy of Stow; a brother, John J. Johnston of Canton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A sister also is deceased.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Harry Milligan officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
