Betty J. Limbacher
Betty Jean Limbacher, 81, of Louisville, died Saturday in Aultman Hospital. The daughter of the late Kirk and Vada (Lutz) Darrah, she was born in Mogadore, January 2, 1921. She was a member of Mogadore Christian Church, and was a Girl Scout leader in North Canton for four years. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friends, Jerry, Donna, Craig, Aimee, Hanna and Seth Roan, all of North Canton, Don and Joshua Roan; Steve and Cathy Harvey, all of Canton and several dear neighborhood friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Limbacher in 1990. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Sunset Hills Burial Park Cemetery, 5001 Everhard Rd. NW with the Rev. Dr. Eugene F. Higgins officiating. There will be no calling hours. Bruce W. Hoover
Bruce W. Hoover, 64, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 16, 2002, at Massillon Community Hospital. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation; served his Country Honorably in the US Marine Corps from 1954-1956 and where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the New Hope Chapel, a Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Barbara Hoover of Canal Fulton; daughters, Heidi (Danny) Martinez; and grandchildren, Zeke and Kelsie of North Canton; Kathy Allen and grandchild, Aaron of Akron; son, Richard Bruce Hoover; daughter, Kimberly of Akron; three additional grandchildren; step-mother, Margaret Hoover of Naples, FL; sisters, Bonnie (Sam) Donzellie of Canal Fulton, Sherri Shaffer, Kathy (John) Korona, all of Bonita Springs, FL. Carmelita J. (Ciprian) (Forchione) Bodway, age 84, of Canton, passed away Friday afternoon at Arbors of Canton after an extended illness. She was a life resident of Canton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Forchione, and her second husband, Benjamin Bodway; her parents, Anthony and Donata Ciprian; one brother, Norman Ciprian; three sisters, Dorothy Yeary, Virginia Minniti and Connie Plaga. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Rick Carothers of Plano, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Aurelia Forchione of Marlton, New Jersey; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Florence Ciprian of Euclid, OH; one brother-in-law, Julius Minniti of Canton; nieces, Donna Blosser and Ann Pasquerela; nephew, Lynn Minniti; great-nephews, Brian and Randy Blosser and Don Bagueros, Gary and Curtis Ciprian; three grandchildren, Kevin Forchione, Eric Forchione and Jenny Deardorff. Josephine V. Wells, 94, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, died Saturday. She is survived by a son, Jack Wells and wife Judy; five daughters, Mrs. Bill (Janet) Wolfe, Kathy Wells, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Garrett, Mrs. Rick (Carolyn) Norman and Marti Wells; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Church of Dennison, Ohio, with visitation on Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, also of Dennison.
Kay Pappas
On Friday, February 15, 2002, at 10:30 p.m., Kay (Hackathorn) Pappas received eternal life. With her husband, children and grandchildren holding their arms as she drew her final breath--her victory complete. With God in her heart and spirit she has been made whole. She was born in Malvern, Ohio, August 29, 1943. She attended Canton South High School and worked diligently all of her life as a homemaker. She was a fabulous cook and there was never anyone who left her house without a meal. She will most be remembered by her incredible love for her grandchildren: Nicole and Natalie Mollica. Brittani, Teddy, Abigail, Hannah and Baby Girl Pappas. She is also survived by her gentle care giver and husband of 40 years, Theodosis Ted Pappas Sr.; her three children and their spouses, Ted Pappas Jr. (Lori), Angela Angie Pappas-Mollica (Tony), Nicole Pappas-McKinney (Dale); a brother, Tom Hackathorn; and sisters, Jane Rosetti and Judy Caley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth (Williams) Hackathorn; brother, Robert Hackathorn; and grandchild, Carmen Mollica. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene, 522 - 30th St. NW, Canton, OH., with Pastor Robert Merki officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Merle S. Thompson
Merle S. Thompson, age 70, of Canton, Ohio, passed away February 16, 2002, in his home surrounded by his wife and children following an extended illness. He was retired but an active member of Roofers Local #88. He was born August 25, 1931 in Phalanix Mills, Ohio, to the late Clark and Florence (Mullett) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Thompson; and sister, Donna Sauers. He is survived by wife of 52 years, Norma Jean Thompson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Pam Thompson of Canton, Larry and Sandi Thompson of North Canton, OH; two daughters, Cheryl Callas of Canton, OH., Diane Kennedy of Canton, OH; two sisters, Phyllis Martin of Canton and Beverly Thornburg of Nixa, Missouri; there are 13 grandchildren; 15 great-granchildren; many nieces and nephews also surviving. Nicholas Lombardi
Nicholas G. Lombardi, age 80, of Canton, Ohio, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great - grandfather, passed away Saturday evening, February 16, 2002, in Aultman Hospital following a five week illness. Born in Canton, OH., May 22, 1921, to his parents the late Thomas D. and Carmela Lombardi. He was retired co-owner and operator of the family business, Thomas Lombardi and Son Ready Mix, retiring in 1982. Mr. Lombardi was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Massillon Elks, Knights of Columbus; and was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, 65th Infantry Division. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tony, Rocco, Ray and Mike Lombardi; two sisters, Esther Pizzino, Frances Tolles and his son-in-law, Mark Kracker. Survivors include his loving wife, Irene (Nelson) Lombardi of the home, to whom he was married 62 years; six children and their spouses, Frances Kracker of Sarasota, FL., Michele Beck of Canton, OH., Laura and Stephan Buckler of Canton, OH., Leona and David Numbers of Sarasota, FL., Denise and Ken Hass of Elkins, WV., Nicholas J. Lombardi of Cleveland, OH; his sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Jim Richard of Canton, OH; there are 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also surviving. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4940 W. Tuscarawas St., Canton, OH., with Fr. Thomas Dyer as Celebrant. There will be no funeral procession, everything will begin at the church on Tuesday. Norman E. Phillips
Norman E. Phillips, age 77, of North Canton, died Saturday in the Aultman Hospital Emergency Room after an apparent heart attack. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1943 and attended Tennessee University. He was an Army Air Corp. Veteran of World War II serving in the China - Burma - India theater; and was the commander of the Akron Basha of C.B.I. and the State Provost Marshall of C.B.I. He retired from American States Insurance where he was manager of the Akron-Canton claims office. He was a past president of the Canton Claims Assoc. Member of Community Christian Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class; North Canton Elks BPOE #2029; American Legion Post #44. He was a former baseball coach in the Avondale Baseball Assoc. and with American Legion Post 44 and was a volunteer for the probate Court Visitation Program. Norman was an avid golfer, North Canton Hoover and Cleveland Indians fan. Survived by his wife, Eleanor (Pucci) with whom he celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary November 22nd; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Diane Phillips of North Canton; grandchildren, Michelle and Kevin Higgins of North Canton, Jennifer Phillips of Columbus, and Andrea Phillips of North Canton; son-in-law, Jeffrey and Sharon Williams of North Canton; brothers-in-law, Ray and Delma Pucci of North Canton, Mel and Connie Pucci, Bob and Joanne Pucci all of Alliance. Preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Williams in 1996; and brother-in-law, Frank Pucci. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Community Christian Church with Rev. Patricia Mullally Gilmore
Patricia Mullally Gilmore, age 75, of Canton, passed away Saturday morning in the Laurels of Massillon after an extended illness. She was a life resident of Canton and was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Marie Academy. Pat Gilmore was a successful realtor for more than 30 years, first licensed with the C.E. Poorman Agency. She joined Cutler/GMAC Real Estate in 1975, and remained licensed with Cutler until her retirement several years ago. Pat was dedicated to her clients and received many awards for her multi million dollar sales achievements. She received the Quarter Century Award from the Stark County Association of Realtors, marking more than 25 years of consecutive service. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Junior League of Canton. Her husband, Clifford R. Gilmore, died in 1983. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Rear Admiral USN Christopher Weaver of Washington, D.C., and Jody and Jake Hupp of Massillon; three sons and two daughters - in - law, Captain USN (Ret.) Gregory C. and Nancy Gilmore, and Captain USN Stephen D. Gilmore, all of Alexandria, VA., and Dr. (Lieutenant Commander USN) David S. and Teryn Gilmore of Concord, CA; and 15 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. John R. Nentwick as Celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. Pat and Cliff were active sponsors of the United States Naval Academy, having had three sons and a son-in-law graduate and be commissioned into the Naval service. Family and friends will always remember Pat as a proud and compassionate mother of five children and 15 grandchildren, whom without her loving support and gentle counsel, would have failed to achieve many of life's goals and ambitions. We will miss her sense of humor as well as her sense of fair play.

Pauline Trout, age 78, of Canton, OH., passed away Sunday morning in her daughter's residence on Frederick Avenue S.W., Canton, following an extended illness. Born in Woodsfield, OH., October 28, 1923, to her parents the late Albert and Elsie (Eberle) Agin, she lived most of her life in the Canton area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Trout. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Francis and Roger Lucas, Kathy and Henry Himes, Nancy and Edward Rouse all of Canton, OH; there are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Howard officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Randy L. (Schaffer) Schaffernocker, age 49, of Canton passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002. Randy was born in Canton and had resided here all of his life. He was a 1970 graduate of Oakwood High School. He was the owner and president of Schaffer and Sons Construction Co. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Diane (Marucci) Schaffernocker of the home; three sons and daughter-in-law, Troy and Megan of Columbus, Ryan also of Columbus and Kyle of the home; his parents, Joyce Eaton and Kermit Schaffernocker both of Canton; two brothers, and sister-in-law, Gary and Karen Schaffernocker, Bryan Schaffernocker; and one sister, Kelly Schaffernocker all of Canton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Betty Marucci of Canton; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and our very dear friends. Rita I. Marks, age 69, of Massillon, died at her residence Sunday morning following a brief illness. Born in Massillon, she was a homemaker and a lifetime resident. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Catherine Zoeller Siffrin; husband, Robert L. Marks, June 24, 2001; and a brother, Robert Siffrin. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Massillon, where she was involved with the Christian Mothers, the Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels. Survived by daughters, Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) Gardner of Massillon; Mrs. William (Katherine) Pedersen of North Canton, and Mrs. Antonio (Amy) Maricocchi of Loveland, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Robert B. and Christine Marks of Massillon; grandchildren, Andrew and Michelle Marks, Nicholas Gardner, Frances, Gillian, and Maris Pedersen, and Katrina, Rita, Domenic, and Paul Maricocchi; sisters, Mrs. James (Katherine) Linehan and Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Raymondi both of Canton; and Sister Alma Siffrin H.M. of Akron; and a brother, Paul Siffrin of Scio, OH. Shirley K. Cerrett, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, February 16, 2002, in her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Survivors include her parents, Robert E. and Ruth Barrows of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Suzanne (Frank) Haupt of Canton; a son, Steve (Alana) Shade of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, James and Alexandra Ali Haupt; former husbands and present-day friends, Harold D. and Alice Shade of New Philadelphia, and Clyde C. (Dalene) Cerrett also of New Philadelphia; her beloved cat, Sammy; and close friends, Jean Walker and Barbara Ventura both of New Philadelphia; Shirley's grandparents; and her devoted cat, Shadow, preceded her in death. Wilson R. Wise
Wilson R. Wise, formerly of Canton, having lived here for 46 years and moved to central Florida in 1993, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002. Mr. Wise was a retired Machinist for White Motors Co. He was born in Bedford, KY. He was a member of Canton Baptist Temple in Canton. He was a life member of veterans of Foreign Wars American Legion and 6th Marine Association of World War II, also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagle. He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; son, Larry Wise of Yuma, AZ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi and Robert Brenner of North Canton, Sherry and Albert Dinicola of Key Largo, FL; brothers, Leebert Wise of Minerva, Richard Wise of Pendleton, KY and Edward Wise of Bedford, KY, Kenneth Wise of Crystal River, FL; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
