C. Gladys Bailey
C. Gladys Bailey, age 94, of Canton, OH, passed away Thursday evening in the Altercare of Navarre following a brief illness. Born in Warsaw, OH, on September 15, 1907, she had resided in Canton since 1951 and was a retired employee of Malone College, retiring in 1972 as Manager of their bookstore, after nine years of service. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Golden Sunshiners and the Rebecca Lodge in Dellroy, OH. She and her husband had a children's radio program on WTOF, known as, Aunt Gladys and Uncle Charlie's House. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and her husband, Charles Bailey who passed away in 1989. Survivors include a nephew and several nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Randy L. Newcomer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before services on Monday 12-1 p.m.

Donald E. Hupp. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Pastor James Simone officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Frank L. Condit
Frank L. Condit, age 80, of Canton, passed away Thursday evening, January 24, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Wilmette, Illinois on September 26, 1921 to the late Harold and Mary (Stewart) Condit. Frank was a graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL and a graduate of Wooster College majoring in Political Science. He was a WW II Marine Veteran who participated in action in Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. He was a Sales Representative for 30 years for Republic Steel in the Midwest, and since his retirement in 1978, has resided in Canton. Frank was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Wm. McKinley Lodge #431 F AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, and had volunteered at Mercy Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julia (Carson); daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and George Wright of Houston,TX; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Carson and Sheryl Condit of West Chester, PA; sister, Helen Klopfenstein of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Lanya Harkins, Joshua Condit, Sarah Condit, James Wright, and Adam Wright; great-grandson, Ethan Harkins. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Christ Presbyterian Church. Friends may call Monday one hour prior to services in the Church Parlor from 10-11:00 A.M. Final Resting Place is West Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Glenn A. Ericksen
Glenn A. Ericksen, age 69, of Canton, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2002 in Aultman Hospital following a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born in Canton, Ohio September 17, 1932 to the late Christian and Elizabeth (Peterson) Ericksen. Glenn retired from Republic Steel in 1994 after 35 years of service as a crane operator. He was a 1950 graduate of McKinley High School, was an Army Veteran and member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Glenn was a Real Estate Broker for over 40 years and was a member of North Canton Eagles #2223. In his youth he was a Golden Gloves Boxer. More recently he was known for his dancing and spending quality time with his cherished grandchildren. Glenn will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 1990 and an infant son, Glenn Jr. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Dave Baughman of Canton, Pamela Ericksen of North Canton, Elizabeth and Victor Herold of Louisville, Julie Ericksen and Jeremy Hess of North Canton; sons, Christian, Edward and Paul Ericksen all of Canton, Mark Ericksen of North Canton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Greta and Vince Farelli, Christine and Dick Hutcheson all of Canton; grandchildren, Victor Glenn Herold, Jaimie Herold, Gage Alan Ericksen, Logan Hess close companion, Darlene Eisenmann of Canton; numerous aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews and his breakfast buddies. Funeral services will be Monday 1:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Mann officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Janice M. Baith
Janice M. Baith, age 60 of Alliance, OH died Friday January 25, 2002 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born in Alliance, OH on October 19, 1941, to the late John N. and Mary (Ciocania) Sotcan. She was a 1959 graduate of Alliance High School, attended Miami University and was employed as a secretary for area businesses. She was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, Eastern Star, and served as the chairperson for her high school reunion committee several times. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Bud Baith of Alliance, whom she married June 15, 1963; son, Brett and Shari Baith of Columbus; daughter, Amy and David Maendel of Alliance; granddaughters, Devin Baith, Taylor Baith, Courtney Baith all of Columbus, and Kayla Maendel of Alliance; grandson, Kyle Maendel of Alliance; sister, Dianna Peterson of Alliance; brother, Nicholas Sotcan of Alliance; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by one son, Brad Allan in 1969, and a brother, John Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday January 28, 2002 in the Cassady-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home in Alliance. Joseph C. Bryant
Joseph C. Bryant, age 84, of Canton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the home from an apparent heart attack. Born in Willard, Ohio, on September 8, 1917, he had lived the greater portion of his life in the Canton area. He was a retired employee of the Babcock Wilcox Co., retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. He was an active member for over 50 years in the Canton Moose Lodge #233. As his hobby he enjoyed and was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maude Bryant; also by four sisters, Josephine Stamets, Olive Gribble, Mary Jones and Dorothy Hoffmeyer. Survivors include his wife, Frances Bryant of the home, to whom he had been married for 60 years on August 28, 2001; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sue Bryant of Westminster, CO., Dan and Linda Bryant of Massillon, OH; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Baker of Massillon, OH; there are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Ristow and Betty Ann Cameron; a brother, Donald Bryant all of Canton, OH; there are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Max R. Babcock
Max R. Babcock, age 69. of North Canton, OH, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2002 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Marietta, OH, March 6, 1932 to his parents the late Warren and Lydia (Stuber) Babcock, he lived most of his life in the Canton area and was a retired employee of Republic Engineered Steel. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Madelyn Burkhart. Survivors include two daughters,, Katherine Tuber of Canton, Angela Peters of Lake Havasu City, AZ; his son, Randy L. Babcock of Akron; two brothers, Robert Babcock of Marietta, OH, Gerald Babcock of North Canton; five sisters, Donna Corbett, Linda Piggott, Margaret Corbett, Bonnie Furman and Judy; two grandchildren, Summer Babcock and Chad Jolly; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 7 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Charles W. Ulmer officiating. Calling hours three hours prior to the services on Monday 4-7 p.m. At the request of the family his body will be cremated following the services.

Paul Pritt
Paul Pritt, age 76, of Canton, died early Friday morning in the Pines following an extended illness. Born April 25, 1925, in Adolph, WV, to the late Floyd and Alice Pritt. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, attended the Cathedral of Life and was retired from the Timken Co. Preceded in death by his son, David Pritt on Dec. 6, 1989. Survivors include his wife, Verla of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jesse Pratt of Navarre, Marie and Tim Johnson and Brenda Robinson, all of North Canton and Myra and Robert Robert of Newton, IL; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricardo and Robin Pritt of Brookneal, VA; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Pritt of Florida and Albert Pritt of West Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Bishop C. Herschel Gammill officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. William R. McClain
William R. McClain, age 67, of Canton, passed away Friday morning in Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Canton, a son of Dorothy Chiesa of Canton and the late Rodney McClain, and was a life resident. He was a 1952 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. Bill retired in 1997 from Lincolnway Motors, after 25 years service, where he was sales manager. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and had served in the U.S. Army. Surviving besides his mother is his wife, Sonia McClain, with whom he would have celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary on Monday, January 28th; one daughter and son-in-law, Annick and Jack Schrader, and their son, Jeremy, of Canton; one sister and brother-in-law, Edie and Michael Cogan of Canton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janice Chiesa of Denver, CO, and Ronald and Ellen McClain of Coshocton. Services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Cheyney officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday one hour before the service.
