Gladys May Geyer Tourno
Gladys May Geyer Tourno, age 91, of Louisville, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, Monday, June 4, 2001. Gladys was born March 16, 1910, in New Philadelphia to William Henry and Catherine (Jones) Geyer. She was a charter member and the first president (1953) of Friendly Hills Women's Club of East Canton. Gladys was a member of the Pocahontas Council No. #247 of the Daughters of America for over 50 years and a member of the AARP. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in East Canton. Survivors include her children, Pat Will our, Joanne (Gary) Burkey and Eugene Tourno; daughter-in-law, Florence Tourno; son-in-law, Doyle Baum; grandchildren, Sharon (Joe) Dowling, Susan (Bob) Phillips, Diana (Doug) Huffman, Nancy (Joe) Hranko, Cheryl (Doug) Diehl, Gary Paul Burkey, Michele (Jeff) Holland, Melissa Tourno, Richard Gorman, Linda (John) Windemuth, Lori (Greg) Jones and Lisa (Jeff) Workman; great-grandchildren, J.J. Dowling, Kelley and Nicole Phillips, Bryan Troyer, Alex Huffman, Bethany and Matthew Diehl, Amanda Holland, Richie Gorman, David and Leigh Windemuth, Ryan, Brett and Alec Jones; step-grandchildren, Adrianne and Jessica Hranko; sisters, Virginia Snider and Evelyn Knouff; brother, Eugene Geyer; and numerous nieces and nephews who were so very dear to her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Franklin Tourno whom she married July 11, 1929 and who passed away April 27, 1972; a daughter, Jean Baum who passed away in 1993; a son, William Tourno who passed away in 1995; and brothers, John and Harry Geyer. Services for Gladys will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 306 W. Church Street in East Canton with Rev. Jenna Meisner officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville and Thursday one hour prior to services at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or to the charity of your choice. Gladys was dearly loved by her family and friends and her family and friends were very special and dearly loved by her.

Harry T. Griffing, age 91, of Sandusky, formerly of the Canton-Waynesburg area, passed away May 30, 2001. He was the former owner-operator of the Griffing-Sandusky Airport. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 3 p.m. in Faith Memorial Assembly of God Church, Sandusky, OH.
Jerome D. Fladen, MD
Jerome D. Fladen, MD, age 74, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2001. He was born in Akron, Ohio on March 2, 1927 to the late Henry and Ruth (Strick) Fladen. Dr. Fladen practiced Ophthalmology in Canton since 1963 and had been on the Medical staff of Mercy Medical Center, Aultman Hospital and University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. He had a life long dedication to teaching students and residents in Ophthalmology and generously donated his time to Case Western Reserve University and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. To pursue this passion, he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honorary Society, Ohio State Medical Association, American Medical Association, Stark County Medical Association, Cleveland Ophthalmology Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and Ohio Chapter American College of Surgeons. He was also a member of Temple Israel, Rotary Club of Canton, Jewish Community Federation and Canton Jewish Community Center and was a WWII Army Veteran. Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Fladen, MD. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, to whom he would have been married 50 years on August 19, 2001; daughter, Debbie Fladen of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Todd and Sharon Fladen of Canton; grandchildren, Elliot, Seth and Harris Fladen of Canton; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Miriam Agins and Dr. Morton Agins, Akron; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Reva and George Miller, Akron, Robert and Betty Sabetay, Akron; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wed. at 1 p.m. in Temple Israel with Student Rabbi Jonathan Siger, Rabbi Gedaliah Krainess and Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery - Akron. Memorials may be made to Temple Israel, 333 25th Street NW, Canton, Ohio 44709 and Telshe Yeshiva, 28400 Euclid Ave., Wickliff, Ohio 44092. The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Mrs. Jerome D. Fladen through Tuesday morning, June 12, 2001.
Mahlon D. Boley
Mahlon D. Boley, age 82, of Sarasota, FL, went home to be with the Lord Saturday June 2, 2001. He was born in Greentown, Ohio February 3,1919 to the late Joseph Katie (Troyer) Boley. He had moved from Burton, Ohio to Sarasota, FL in the early 1970's and had been a building inspector. He was a member of the Palm Grove Mennonite Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Boley of Sarasota, FL; daughters, Mary J. Boley and Sally Tidmarsh both of Sarasota, FL; son, Larry Boley of Pelham, GA; sisters, Lizzieann Miller of Dover, OH and Fannie Stutzman of Massillon, OH; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday (TODAY) 5-8:00 PM in the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church, 10587 Market Ave. N., and 1 hour prior to services Thursday (9-10:00 AM) in the church. Funeral Services will be Thursday 10:00 AM in the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church with Mervin Wagler officiating. A final viewing will be held in the Mapleview Mennonite Church in Burton, Ohio from 2-3:00 PM Thursday with the Graveside Committal immediately following the viewing in the Mapleview Mennonite Church Cemetery, Burton. Marion E. Permar
Marion E. Permar, formerly of North Canton, OH, died at Memphis, TN on May 27, 2001, of cancer. Born on November 27, 1926 at Appleton, WI. Parents now deceased were Phyllis and C. George Evens. She was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Ohio State University. She was active as a girl scout leader, and in the Sierra Club. Survivors are her husband of 51 years, Paul, her beloved daughters, Suzy of Memphis, and her sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Lester Miller of North Canton. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 12th, at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, North Canton, where the Permars were charter members. The Family requests that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, Girl Scouts, or Faith United Methodist Church.
Mary E. Muckley
Mary E. Muckley, age 88, of Canton, passed away Tuesday morning in her home. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Harry and Anne Hessey Rowland, and was a life resident. She was a 1931 graduate of McKinley High School. Mary was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church and Canton Chapter #190, Order of Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband, Jerome C. Muckley, on July 23, 1992, two brothers, R.E. Gene and Frederick Rowland; her step-father, Thomas Vose, and a half-brother, Paul Rowland. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Leroy Snyder, of Massillon; her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Darlene Muckley, of Strongsville, OH; her sister-in-in-law, Mary E. Muckley, of N. Canton; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home with Dr. Chester H. Harris officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. N. Pearl Hays
N. Pearl Hays, age 94, formerly of Canton, OH., died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Mercy Pavilion. She was born July 10, 1906, in Greencastle, PA., to Harry Oscar and Eliza Jane (Heckman) Stoner. Most of her life she resided in Canton, Ohio, until moving to Battle Creek 25 years ago. She was employed as a receptionist for several Canton area physicians and at a local flower shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Palmer Hays of 42 years in 1966. Also preceded in death by a son, James Palmer Hays, Jr., October 13, 2000; two sisters, Ethel Fife and Evelyn Geiger; and two grandchildren, Mark and Steven Hays. Surviving is a daughter, Marcia Kuepfer of Battle Creek; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Canton, OH. Graveside services will be officiated by Rev. Harold L. Davis at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, Ohio, 2:00 p.m. Friday. Paul H. Markowsky
Paul H. Markowsky, age 58, of Massillon, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Aultman Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was born on October 9, 1942 in Massillon and remained a resident most of his life. He was a serviceman at Consumers Ohio Water, where he worked for over 35 years. He was a member and treasurer of the Utility Workers Union of American, and an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of nearly 22 years, Gladys (Lemin) Markowsky of Massillon; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Michelle Markowsky of Reynoldsburg; one daughter, Brenda Markowsky of Canton; one granddaughter, Shayna Markowsky; his mother, Jean (Leibermann) Markowsky of Arvada, CO; one brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Delores Markowsky of Rippon, WI; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and John Murphy, Judy and Gary Thills and Joy and Randy Stallworth, all of Colorado; and his mother-in-law, Pauline Connors of Canton. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul H. Markowsky. Funeral services will be Friday, June 8, at 9 a.m. at Heitger Funeral Service-Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. NE. Roxie F. Bosh
Roxie F. Bosh, 88, of Carrollton, died June 5, 2001, in Carroll Health Care Center after a long illness. She was born November 17, 1912, in Carrollton, daughter of the late Alfred R. Morrow and Emma Dewell Hartley. Roxie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Carrollton, a homemaker and a former employee of Peacock Cleaners before retiring in 1976. Her husband, Mike Bosh, who she married on May 19, 1942, preceded her in death on June 12, 1987. She is survived by one son, Kim Bosh of Carrollton; one daughter, Mickey Peoples of Kent; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her son, Rex Henry on May 26, 1999; one sister, Cosa V. Morrow; and two infant brothers are also deceased. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Carrollton Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Camp officiating. Burial in Grandview Cemetery. Stephen G. Cronebach
Stephen G. Cronebach, 35, of Martinsburg, WV, formerly of Massillon, died June 3, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA, where he had been a patient since June 3. He had been ill since August 2000. He was born Sept. 11, 1965, in Massillon and lived the last 10 years in Martinsburg, WV. He was a cartographer for Nima National Imagery Mapping Agency. He graduated in 1983 from Perry High and in 1988 from the University of Akron. He was a member of Independent Bible Church in West Virgina and the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Debra (Konen) Cronebach; his parents, David and Linda (Collins) Cronebach, of Massillon; a brother, Michael D. Cronebach, of Pataskala, OH; and his grandmothers, Margaret R. Cronebach, of New Philadelphia, and Minnie E. Collins, of Massillon. The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Roger Alber and Rev Ken Killian officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Vernon C. Price
Vernon C. Price, age 89, a resident at the Canton Regency, passed away June 4, 2001 in Aultman Hospital. Born in Freeport, OH on Sept. 14, 1911, he was the son of the late, Willard and Minnie Price. Vernon had been a resident of the Canton and North Canton area since 1941 and was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Price in 1983; one brother, Dr. Lester Price. He retired from the Timken Co. in 1973. Member and past president of the Perry Chapter #2898 A.A.R.P. and Keenagers of First Christian Church. His Masonic membership included Lathrop Lodge #676 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma Price of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Price of Perry Heights; a brother, Doyle Price; sister, Dorothy Blickensderfer, both of Dover, OH; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Dr. Chester Harris, Pastor of Dueber United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dueber United Methodist Church.

Zelda D. McCort
Zelda D. (Fisher) McCort, 98, of Carrollton, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Carroll Health Care Center following a short illness. She was born on April 16, 1903, in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Brady and Laura (Kelly) Fisher; and she was a life resident of Carroll County. She was a elementary teacher having taught in one-room schools in Carroll County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton and a life member of both the WCTU and the United Methodist Women. On September 4, 1924, she married Edward R. McCort who died July 2, 1962. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Doris McCort of Carrollton, Curtis Glenn and Carolyn McCort of Huntsville, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and Frank Nye of Carrollton; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. David Blood officiating. Burial will follow in the Perrysville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday and one hour before the time of service on Friday.
