Albert Burkhart, age 86, of Malvern, OH, died Friday evening, June 15, 2001 at Aultman Hospital. Born in Pennsylvania on Feb. 4, 1915 to the late George and Otilda (Schoepner) Burkhart. A member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Malvern. He had been employed as a carpenter at Crowl Lumber Co. in Malvern. Former member of the Brown Twp. Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Fulks) Burkhart of the home; son, Jerry Burkhart of the home; daughter, Betty (Robert) Santucci of Minerva; brothers, Harry of Waynesburg, William J. of Magnolia; sisters, Nellie Barnhouse of Waynesburg, Mildred Gallagher of Canton; granddaughter, Tammy (Michael) Johnson of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Tayroi and Katin Johnson. Preceded in death by brother, George. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. Gary Lee Lint
Gary Lee Lint, age 56, of Perry Twp., died unexpectedly Thursday evening. Born January 3, 1945 in Massillon to the late Russell and Grace Lint. He was a 1964 McKinley High School Graduate, a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam, a member of Cedar Lodge #430 F AM, A.A.S.R. Chapter Valley of Canton and was employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad (formerly Conrail) for 37 years. Gary was the loving husband of Katherine; and devoted father, of Christopher Lint and Stacy Lint both of the home; and was a very special Poppy to his grandson, William Dale (Lint) Keefer also of the home. There is one brother and sister-in-law, Kim and Christie Lint of Louisville; and two nephews, David and Shawn Lint also surviving. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Gladys E. Sakel
Gladys E. Sakel, age 84, of Canton, OH, passed away Friday morning in Aultman Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Dellroy, OH on July 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late, John and Ethel (Newell) Edie. She had lived the greater portion of her life in Canton, was a 1934 graduate of McKinley High School and was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sakel, May 25, 1990; a daughter, Ruth Anne Sakel, Dec. 10, 1952; two brothers Frank and Tom Edie; two sisters, Mary Kartler and Nellie Velonis; infant grandson, Floyd Sakel. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a caring person to all who knew her. Survived by her daughter, Marcia Sprout of North Canton; her son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Grace Sakel of Canton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Reed of Canton, Jeffrey Sprout and his wife, Janet of Green, OH, James Sakel, Jr. and Jeremy Sakel, both of Canton; a brother, John Edie of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Ruth Clemens, Betty Sprague, both of California. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ with Pastor Darlene Garber and Pastor Richard Plant officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 7-9 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour before the services at the Church 10-11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ.
James W. Neading
James. W. Neading, age 73, of Canton, passed away early Saturday morning in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a life resident of Canton. He was a graduate of Canton South High School, in 1945. He was a retired 22 year employee of Klaben Dodge in Kent; he had also worked at numerous auto dealerships in the Canton area. He was of Methodist faith. Preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine (Sliman), June 21, 1970; his parents, Fred and Bessie Neading. Survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Craig Neading of Louisville, Keith and Michelle Neading, Kevin and Dan Neading, Kurt and Melanie Neading, all of Canton; a daughter and her fiancee, Jayma Neading and Jeff Mohr of Canton; a brother, Eugene Neading of Canton; five grandchildren. Private services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society in his memory.
Marie A. Ecrement
Marie A. Ecrement, age 84, of Canton, passed away Friday morning in Aultman Hospital. Born in Canton, she is the daughter of the late Daniel and Sophie (Liska) Hegal. A lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Canton. She worked as a Clerk at MacKensie Jones. Also preceded in death by her husband, William Ecrement in 1974; two sisters, Emma Snively and Pauline McClelland; two brothers, John and Donald Hegal. Survived by nieces and nephews, George McClelland, Gerald McClelland, Geoffrey McClelland, Daniel Hegal, Michael Hegal, Claudia Foffa, Rev. Richard Hegal, John Snively; many great nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with Pastor George A. Keeler officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery. Marie Bramley
Marie (McGrath) Bramley, age 91, died June 13, 2001 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was a former resident of Canton, OH., and had moved to Colorado Springs, CO., in 1974. She was born October 9, 1909 in Topeka, KS to the late, Frank and Frances McGrath. She is preceded in death by her husband, William M. Bramley. She is survived by her son, William E. Bramley of Colorado Springs, CO; and her daughter, Joan M. Krabill of Louisville, OH; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mary Jane Adler
Mary Jane Adler, age 85, of North Canton, died Thursday in Windsor Medical Center. She attended Randolph-Macon Womens College and Northwestern University. A member of Congress Lake Club and an avid golfer starting at 14 years of age. By the time she was 17 and 18, she won back to back Akron District Championships. In 1933 she completed in the National Womens Golf Championship in Illinois. She loved to garden, play tennis, and was an excellent cook. In her later years, she was a regular walker at Price Park. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Julianne Miller, Melissa Jane and D. Michael Smith, Elizabeth and Bryan Shipman, Amanda and Duane Cromwell; sons and daughters-in-law, David D. and Marcia Miller, James S. and Judy Adler; seven grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Schaler. Preceded in death by husband, James S. Adler, MD. Funeral Home with Rev. Charlotte Still officiating. Friends may call one hour before services. Paul R. Holl
Paul R. Holl, age 80 of Canton died early Saturday morning in Rose Lane Health Center following an extended illness with Azheimer's Disease. Born March 9, 1921 in Canton to the late Zelmer and Clara Holl. He was a 50 year member of the Ohio Carpenters Union and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Delores (VanHorn) Holl with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. There is one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Hulse of Vancouver, Canada and two sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Deb Holl of Virginia Beach, VA and Jeff and Denise Holl of Tucson, AZ. There are two grandsons and four great-grandchildren also surviving. Private graveside services will be held for the family.
Ronald S. Pagan
Ronald S. Pagan, age 60, of East Canton, died Friday afternoon in the Mercy Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was an East Canton resident for the past 25 years, retiring from Clarke Ceramics, Dalton, OH, March, 2001. He attended St. Benedict Catholic Church and was a member of the Association of Ceramic Engineers and the United States Hockey Assoc. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alfred University, Alfred, NY in 1963. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survived by wife, Kathleen J. (Coniglio) to whom he was married 34 years; one daughter, Jennifer Pagan of Chicago, IL; one son, Ronald S. Pagan, Jr. of Columbus; his parents, Benjamin and Concetta (Thomas) Pagan of Dunkirk, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. John Zuzik as celebrant. A private family committal service will be Tuesday in St. Louis Cemetery. Stella M. Miller
Stella M. Miller, age 93, of Louisville, passed away Friday, June 15, 2001 at the St. Joseph Care Center of Louisville. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, Sept. 1, 1907 to the late, Jacob and Michaelina (Tartus) Golba. She was of the catholic faith. Preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1960. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Joseph Casey of Solon, OH; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Miller, John and Judy Miller, all of Louisville; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Harry Gifford of Dunlap, CA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville, with Fr. Ken Miller of St. Louis Catholic Church officiating. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville.

Winnie Johnson
Winnie Johnson, 83, a winter resident of St. James City, FL, passed away due to natural causes at her home in Florida on May 20, 2001. She is survived by two daughters: Judith Blackburn of Lisbon, Ohio, and Donna Fisher of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The oldest of eight children, Winnie is survived by six brothers and sisters; Charles Buchanan, Jack Buchanan, Susan Cernik, Marie Hardin, Clara Schaub, and Beatrice Schuster. Also, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Winnie spent most of her life assisting her husband, William E. Johnson, as a general contractor in the building trade in Canton, Ohio. In her early years she had a beauty shop on W.Tusc. Later, she became an avid golfer at Edgewood and Shady Hollow Country Clubs. In the mid 70's she and Bill retired and moved to Newcomerstown, Ohio, where they enjoyed nature and farming. A memorial service will be held on Wed., June 20, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, Ohio.
Woodrow Collins
Woodrow Collins, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2001. Woodrow was born On September 6, 1924 in Webb, AL. Woodrow was raised in Dothan, AL, where he graduated from North Island High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in World War II. He moved to Ohio in 1950. He retired from the Ford Motor Company - Walton Stamping Plant in 1988, after 33 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. #420, Ford Retiree Group. Woodrow is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mammie Collins; brothers, L.C. Collins and Johnnie Mack Collins; son-in-law, Frederick G. Singleterry. Woodrow was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church. He served on the Deacon Board for many year, the Male Chorus, Mass Choir, The Men's Brotherhood Committee and unselfishly took on many other tasks and duties the Lord called him to do. Woodrow also enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar, and was one of the founding members of the Highway All-Stars. Woodrow leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Essie P. Collins of the home; his loving children, Betty J. Singleterry of Canton, Joe Nathan (Valarie) Collins of Houston, TX, Bonnie Savan (Barbara) Collins of Shreveport, LA, Diane Collins of Canton, Tonya D. Collins of Dayton, OH; two sisters, Wannie Mae Rollins, Mattie Ree Elder, both of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-laws, Minnie Collins of Dothan, AL, Rocell (Dan) Davis, Jr. of Orange, NJ; 11 grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church, 1000 3rd St. NE, Canton, OH, Rev. Harold Hopkins officiating.
