Freda M. Myers
Freda M. Myers, age 66, of Canton, died early Sunday morning in the Arbors of Canton following an extended illness. Born Dec. 17, 1934 in Canton to the late Martin and Gertrude (Dean) Roth. Preceded in death by one brother, Edward (Buster) Roth. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Harold Myers of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Donald Stewart of Canton, Tracy Myers of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Pamela Myers of Canton; two sisters, Violet Fewell and Irene Thomas; one brother John Roth; four grandchildren, Kimberly Stewart, Brittany, Brandon and Justin Myers; two great-grandchildren, Katlin and Alexandra Stewart. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. the Reed Funeral Home. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 7-9 p.m.

John Peoples
John Peoples, age 82, of Mechanicstown, died Sunday morning June 17, 2001 in Trinity West Medical Center at Steubenville after a short illness. He was born in Harrison County on April 30, 1919, son of the late Delmer and Bessie Dillon Peoples Garlets. John was a member of Riley's United Methodist Church near Salineville. He was a retired from the former Jensie Mine. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A member of the Carrollton American Legion. He was a former Fox Twp. Trustee and former member of Carroll Co. Planning Commission. Survived by his wife, the former, Joyce Babe, whom he married July 14, 1966; two sons, Wayne (Katherine) Peoples of Ravenna, Gary ( Sara) Peoples of Kent; one daughter, Claireen Floreani of Stow; three stepsons, Richard Hanlin of Columbus, Randall (Lorraine) Hanlin of Canton; James (Dawn) Hanlin of Waynesburg; two stepdaughters, Crystal (Chuck) Heatherington of Carrollton, Cynthia (Tom) Johnson of Marshall, MO; five sisters, Mary Baddeley of Alliance, Myrtle Jones of Cleveland, Helen Benning of Alliance, Betty Hoppes of Homeworth, Bessie Walborn of Massillon; five grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip; son-in-law, Henry Floreani; three brothers, Eugene< Harold and Alvy; four sisters, Gladys, Edna Elsie and Grace. Funeral services Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home at Carrollton with Rev. Charles Chaney officiating. Burial in Mechanicstown Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Lester J. Fausnight, age 85, formerly of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly June 16, 2001. Mary A. Miller
Mary A. (Perlog) Miller, age, 92, of Canton, passed away Saturday afternoon in Mercy Medical Center of a sudden illness. She was born in Rochester, PA and had lived in the Canton area most of her life. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and AARP. She was retired from Canton Stamping Co., having been employed for 18 years as a dipper. Preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rose (Palovich) Plaver; her husband, Charles Miller; sister. Frances Plaver. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and William Keegan with whom she resided, Annbell and Charles Maack of Wichita, KS; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Rita Perlog of Canton; three brothers, Michael Plaver of Canton, Frank Plaver of Massillon, John Plaver of Canton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James McKarns as celebrant. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Mary Canel, age 80, of East Sparta, died Saturday evening at St. Luke's Lutheran Home following a four month illness. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Ancel Canel, in 1996. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dan Wendell of Sarasota, FL, Darlene Barnes of Canton, Angie and Kevin Kinney of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Canel of Canton; nine grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Andrew Ambro of Canton; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Esther Tomko of Canton. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Dew officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Norma Parent, age 86, of North Canton, went home to be with the Lord, June 16, 2001. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Karen Parent; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Parent. Preceded in death by husband Russell A. Parent, in 19998. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Grace Brethren Church, 6823 Market Ave. N. with Rev. Terrence Taylor officiating. Priscilla Hoalcraft
Priscilla Mayle Hoalcraft, age 58, of East Canton, died unexpectedly Saturday evening in the Emergency Room in Aultman Hospital. Born Oct. 16, 1942 in Phillipi, WV, to the late Ernest and Lucille (Croston) Kennedy and has resided in the Canton area for the past 34 years. Member of First Apostolic Church and she was also a homemaker. In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Mayle, in 1985;, a sister, Rebecca Kennedy; one granddaughter, Cassie Nicole Mayle. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dessie and Robert Betz of East Canton, Donna and Christopher Norris of East Canton, Cherry and Jerry Weaver of Canton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Regis Jenrett of Canton, Lisa and Roger Mayle of Galloway, WV; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony Kennedy, Randy and Magalene Kennedy and Teenie and Gina Kennedy, all of Phillipi, WV; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special close friend, Raymond Hoalcraft of Canton. Raymond J. Marsino
Raymond J. Marsino, age 75, of Cape Coral, died Friday, June 15, 2001 in Health Park Hospital. Born in Canton, OH, Feb. 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Baker) Marsino. He married his wife, Marjorie in 1951 and on June 9th of this year celebrated 50 years together. Veteran of World War II serving the U.S. Army. In 1961, he began working at his family's business, Marsino's Wholesale Novelty Co. in Canton. After retirement he moved to Cape Coral in 1980. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 4th degree Christopher Gaynor Assembly. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and making stained glass windows. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Cape Coral; one son, Steven (Fran) of Canton; two daughters, Mary Ann Goodchild of Magnolia, Marjorie Ann Marsino of Canton; his sister, Margaret Wackerly; two granddaughters, Stephanie M. Marsino and Carrie Lynn Goodchild. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Ft. Myers Memorial Garden Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 6-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 8 p.m. in the Metz Funeral Home.
Rickie Martin
Rickie Martin, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2001. Born on Dec. 5, 1933 to the late Benjamin and Florence Springer in Birmingham, AL. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Martin; brothers, William Butler, Marion and Charles Springer; sister, Barbara Sims; son, Donald Henley; stepson, Ricardo Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Conray Henley, Royal (Valgean) Martin, Roy (Michelle) Martin; daughter, Michelle Martin, all of Canton; brother-in-law, Enoch Sims and family Matriarch and dearest friend, Aunt Edith Zeigler, both of Birmingham, AL. She confessed her religion at an early age in Birmingham. In Canton, she became a member of Trinity Gospel Temple, where she worshiped in the choir until her health prevented. Rickie attended Immaculata High, Alabama State Teachers College, Daniel - Payne College, Alverson Business College, all of Birmingham, AL. After coming to Canton , she married Roy Martin and held several positions in Stark County; Stark Metropolitan Housing, working with seniors, St. Paul's Day Care as a Supervisor; Ohio State Extension as a nutrition aid, owner and operator of Martin's Confectionery and house manager for Siffrin Residential Services. Rickie was also associated several community and national organizations. A past member of the Yorketts, and the American Business Women Association, member of the Green County Social Club and was Associate Conductress of the International FAMM. Order of Eastern Stars, Rebecca #224, serving as Chaplin for Jonnie Mabry District #3. Calling hours Tuesday 7-9 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home. Services to be announced later. Wanda C. Brown
Wanda Caroline Brown, age 86, of Canton, passed away Saturday evening in Altercare of Louisville following an extended illness. Born in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Josephine Kruszewski. She was of Catholic faith. Preceded in death by first husband, Walter B. Nephew; daughter, Patricia Nephew; brother, Tony Krusz; step-brother, Joseph Laski. Survived by her son, Walter and Ellen Nephew of Cincinnati; daughter, Nancy and Lawrence Pearson of Canton; sister, Tillie Herbranson of Proctor, MN; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home with Msgr. John C. Finnigan officiating. Burial in North Canton Cemetery.
