Amanda A. Telfer
Amanda A. Telfer, age 88 of Canton, OH passed away Monday evening in the Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Hartville, OH on August 13, 1912 she was a retired employee of Mildred's Nursing Home, retiring in 1975 after 20 years of service. She was a member of Bethel Temple Assemblies of God Church and a long time member of the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Telfer who passed away in 1955, also by a daughter, Helen Dean, a son, Robert Telfer, three sisters, Catherine Anderson, Elizabeth Snodgrass, Mary Kulik and a brother, Solomon Miller. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Harry Swinehart of Canton and Laura and Herbert Taylor of Central Point, OR; a sister, Lydia McClellan and a brother, Daniel Miller both of Canton. There are ten grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Lemberg officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday evening 6-9 p.m. and one hour before the services on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
Ann M. Van Dyne
Ann M. Van Dyne, age 90, of Brewster, formerly of Navarre, died Tuesday at Massillon Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1910, in Steubenville, OH, to the late James and Charlotte (Carpenter) Schrawger. She lived most of her adult life at Navarre, but had resided at Brewster Parke Convalescent Center since 1989. Ann was a member of the Massillon Church of Christ and a graduate of Steubenville High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Van Dyne, two sisters, Marjorie Teaff and Eula Lorett and a brother, James Schrawger. She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Birks of Navarre; granddaughter, Vanessa Reti of Navarre; a great-grandson, Steven Reti of Navarre. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Fairless Academic Boosters, c/o Fairless High School, 11885 Navarre Rd. SW, Navarre, OH 44662. Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home, Navarre, is handling the arrangements.

Ella M. Cooper
Ella M. Cooper, age 94, of Carrollton, died Tuesday morning, June 19, 2001 in Carroll Health Care Center after an extended illness. She was born April 10, 1907, in Lee Twp., Carroll Co., daughter of the late James Earl and Margaret Elizabeth Ray. Ella was a member of the Church of Christ (Christian) at Malvern. She was a retired employee of the former American Electric Switch Co. and Liberty Bell Co. both of Minerva. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Irvin (Mary L.) Beck of Louisville and Mrs. William (Donna) Abrahims of Carrollton; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Cooper in 1956; one son, Homer; two daughters, Bernice Ohler and Adeline Wilkinson; four brothers; three sisters. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. James Painting officiating. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery at Minerva. Jacquelyn Smith, age 69, of Canton, passed away early Tuesday morning. A member of Amvets Post 124. She was preceded in death by husband, Burl Smith and son, John Hill. Survived by children, Ruhama Smith, Peggy Anstine, Paula Hill, Sean Hill and Tim Smith; sisters, Sue Wise and Esther Bungard; brother, Roger Koontz; grandchildren, Jamie, Anya, Arsenio, Hank, Greta, Kari; great-grandchild, Ian. John E. Mullen
John E. Moon Mullen, age 74, of Amsterdam died suddenly Monday June 18, 2001 in his home. He was born April 27, 1927 in Amsterdam son of the late John James and Frances Carter Mullen. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Amsterdam. He retired in 1984 as a supervisor at Weirton Steel. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, member of Amsterdam V.F.W., Life member of the Amsterdam Moose. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Kathy Mullen of Canton; one brother, Ronald Mullen of Bowling Green, OH; one sister, Mrs. William (Marjorie) Locke of Whitehouse, OH; one granddaughter, Valli. His wife of 41 years, the former Velma Shotwell preceded him in death on May 9, 1990. Funeral services will be Thursday June 21st at 8 p.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Msgr. Kenneth Uram officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the VFW, American Legion and the DAV. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until service time. Kathryn E. Bender
Kathryn E. Bender, age 84, died Monday in Aultman Hospital. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Canton. Survived by sister and brother-in-law, Gerry and Jim Emerson of Green; brother and sister-in-law, James and Pearl Marchand of Louisville; a niece and four nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Andy Bender in 1998. A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Sunset Hills Burial Park with Rev. Jeffrey Hancock officiating. Randy E. Fat Cat Lee, age 40, of Massillon, passed away Monday afternoon June 18, 2001 following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Carol Lee; and a brother, Mark Lee. He is survived by brothers, William, James, and Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Rev. Russell J. Long, Sr. officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday 6-8 p.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home.

Richard J. Niedermeyer, former resident of Bowerston, OH, died Monday, June 19, 2001 in Hartville, OH. Beloved husband of the late Kathryn M. (nee Allen), loving father of Alan R. (Lois), Robert S., Carl F. (Debbie) and David W. (Milissa), dear grandfather of Jeffry, Jennifer, Susan, Michael, Jason, Corey, Joseph, Kathryn and the late, Jodi; great-grandfather of Chance and Caden; brother of Jean Marie Gluvna (Ed) and the late Frederick, Helen Mack (twin to Richard) and John Robert (twin to Jean). Robert A. Dovgan
Robert A. Dovgan, age 68, of Canton, passed away Monday June 18,2001 unexpectedly. He was born in Canton on October 28, 1932 to the late Anton Antonette Dovgan. After graduating from McKinley High School, he served a 5 year plumbing apprenticeship. Between the years 1950-1975 Robert had been a General Superintendent for A. C. Eynon Plumbing Co. He more recently had been the Plumbing Inspector of the City of Canton retiring in 1995. He was a 50 year member of Canton Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 94, and was a Fourth Degree Member of Msgr. Edward P. Graham Assembly No. 828, Canton, Ohio. He was a former member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he taught C.C.D. Classes and was awarded the Pius Tenth Degree for teaching. Currently he was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and was a hobby farmer. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Dovgan; and survived by his wife, Donalda with whom he had celebrated 47 years of marriage; sisters-in-law, Frances Bauman, and Josephine Witkowski both of Canton, and Theresa Rovito of Cleveland; and numerous nieces-in-law, and nephews-in-law. Friends may call Thursday 6-8:00 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Canton. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 7:30 PM by the Fourth Degree. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 10:00 AM in the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. William Kraynak celebrant. Final Resting Place is Calvary Cemetery. Shirley Ann DeGraffinreed
Shirley Ann DeGraffinreed, age 67. The Lord called his child home on Sunday June 17, 2001. Shirley Ann DeGraffinreed was born on February 6, 1934 to Thelma and John DeGraffinreed in Waynesburg, OH. She moved to Canton, OH in 1956, where she resided until the time of her departure. In her earlier years, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. W.C. Henderson. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Taylor; father, John DeGraffinreed; step-father, Lee Taylor; brothers, Frank DeGraffinreed, Vincent DeGraffinreed; son, Floyd DeGraffinreed; and four uncles; and one aunt. Shirley leaves to cherish her loving memories, six children, Marie, Rodney, Ronnie, Rosalind, Rochelle, Thomas all of Canton, OH; five sisters, Yvonne (Henry) Brown, Cyreathea Compton, Charlotte Cyrus, Renee Taylor all of Canton, OH., Cynthia McCarthan of San Diego, CA; three brothers, Jessie L (Phyllis) Taylor of Canton, Ron (Barbara) Holston of Massillon, OH., Everna Lee Taylor of Virginia; 20 grandchildren; 11 great -grandchildren; five special friends, Carrie Gray, Rutheli Robinson, Pearl Burnett, Bonita Wilcox and Linda Jones; a host of other relatives and friends.
