Carl R. Farber
Carl R. Farber, age 73, of East Sparta, passed away early Wednesday morning after a short illness. Born in Magnolia, a son of the late Robert Jay and Florence Hartline Farber, he had been a life resident of the area. Carl was retired from Diebold, Inc. in 1990 after 26 years of service as a door builder. He was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church and the Sandy Valley A.A.R.P. Survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Farber with whom he celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 3, 2000; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ned Sickafoose of Magnolia; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Veronica Roni Farber of Massillon; one sister, Doris Clark of Canton; one granddaughter, Kristen Manos. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Manner officiating. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in East Sparta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity, or the East Sparta United Methodist Church.

Cozzetta M. Bible
Cozzetta M. Bible, age 61, of Canton, OH., passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning June 21, 2001 in Union Hospital, Dover, OH. Born in Corbin, KY., July 23, 1939 to her parents the late George Edgar and Edna Westerfield. She has been a resident of the Canton area since 1967. Mrs. Bible was an active member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene, member of the Missionary Society and former Sunday School teacher. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Genesis. Survivors include her husband, Harold D. Bible of the home to whom she was married to for 42 years; her daughter and son-in-law, Carla S. Bible-Graden and John Graden of Massillon, OH; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar Carl and Colleen Bible of North Canton, OH., Boyd Duane and Gayle Bible of Oklahoma City, OK., Gaylen and Amy Bible of Canton, OH; two grandsons; one granddaughter; two brothers, Bobby and Garry Westerfield both of Corbin, KY. There are several nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Michael L. Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. David C. Gotschall
David C. Gotschall, age 78, of Carrollton, died Thursday morning June 21, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center in Canton after a seven month illness. He was born near Kilgore on March 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles and Clara Palmer Gotschall. Dave was a member of Bergholz United Methodist Church. He was retired from the former G G Refuse. He was a former employee of the former Carroll Clay in Carrollton. He was an Army Medic during WWII. He is survived by his wife the former Martha Evans whom he married on April 2, 1960; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Margaret Gotschall of Streetsboro, Robert Evans of Carrollton; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Burtis Gotschall of Uhrichsville, Lester and Bertha Gotschall, Dean and Sandy Gotschall, Charles and Mavis Gotschall all of Carrollton; one sister, Jean (Tipton) Smith of Dellroy; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Slentz. Funeral Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral home at Carrollton with Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the American Legion, V.F.W., and the D.A.V. Elizabeth Sarah Stallings, 87, of Columbus, Tuesday, died June 19, 2001 at St. Rita's Home. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred. Survived by sons, Mike (Mary Ellen) Stallings, John (Shirley) Stallings, and Dave (Judy) Stallings; daughter, Cindy (Joe) Caldwell; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. James R. Conley, Sr.
James R. Conley, Sr., age 73, of Carrollton, died Wednesday, June 21, 2001 at Aultman Hospital in Canton after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery with Military Services provided by the V.F.W., the American Legion and the DAV. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Jeffrey L. Hollinger
Jeffrey Lee Hollinger, age 43, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening. He was born in Orrville on August 16, 1957 and resided in Stark County his entire life. He was a 1976 Graduate of Tuslaw High School, and was employed with Darmike Roofing Co. with 20 years of service. Jeffrey was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, a Sons of Herman Trustee, Massillon Eagles Aerie #190, Massillon Moose Lodge 481. He is survived by his wife, Beth A. (Urban) Hollinger; daughter, Stephanie R. Hollinger; son, Bryan R. Hollinger both of the home; mother and step-father, Judith A. (Martin) and Ronald L. Street of Massillon; father and step-mother, Robert W. and Peggy R. Hollinger of Massillon; sister, Barbara McLean of Massillon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon with Fr. Thomas W. Cebula officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. John Frank Jr.
John (Jack) Frank Jr. died Wednesday June 20, 2001 at Massillon Community Hospital after a sudden illness. Mr. Frank was born in Navarre on February 18,1924 to the parents of John and Rose (Loudina) Frank and was a life resident of Massillon/Navarre area, he was employed by Eaton Reliance Co. as a inspector for 46 yrs retiring in July of 1989, John was a Army Veteran of World War II, member of St. Mary's Parish, and Massillon Eagles Aerie #190. Survivors include, wife of 52 yrs, Jennie (Kolek) Frank, two daughters, Christine (Frank) Paul of Canton, and Jacqueline R. Frank of Massillon; three sisters, Virginia Hammond, Joanne Popovich, and Sally Frank, all of Navarre, OH, two grandsons, Matthew Paul of Kent, OH, and Brian Paul, of Canton, OH and one great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose (Loudiana) Frank, one brother, Ernie Frank, and two sisters, Millie Luckering, and Florence (Nanny) Heater. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 25, 2001, at St. Mary Parish at 10:00 a.m. with interment in Calvary Cemetery in Perry Twp. Calling hours will be on Sunday June 24, 2001 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to Heitger Funeral Service Massillon Chapel, their will be a scriptural service during the evening hours on Sunday. M. Jane Hill
M. Jane (Bachtel) Hill, age 92, a resident at the Canton Christian Home, passed away Thursday morning in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Pike Township on February 11, 1909, she was a 1927 graduate of McKinley High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a former worker for the Election Board in Canton and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Nazir Caldren. In earlier years, she had served as President of the PTA at Gibbs Elementary School, had been a member of the McKinley Band Booster Club and the Garden Club of Canton. She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Susie (Marks) Bachtel; a sister, Mildred Fern Dicken; and her husband, Arthur O. Hill, who passed away April 27, 1988. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert A., Sr. and Shirley J. Hill of North Canton; three grandchildren and spouses, Karin and Michael Heidy of North Canton, Robert A., Jr. and Janet Hill of Malvern and Kathy and David Draher of North Canton; seven great-grandchildren, Benn and Jim Draher, Kristin Dunnivan and husband, Daniel, Nathan Heidy, Jennifer, Bobby and Rachel Hill; her sister, Mary Ellen Riseling of Canton and her close friend, Fern Oldroyd of Canton. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister John Hampton officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Ruth E. Speidel
Ruth E. Speidel, age 95, Hanoverton, OH, died Wed. in Salem, OH. Born July 19, 1905, daughter of the late John L. and Mary J. Gibson Palmer. Graduate of McKinley High School in Canton, OH and Columbia County Normal School and attended Kent State University. Taught School in Hanover Township rural schools and Columbia County Village Schools. All her schools were in one room schools. Member of Hanover Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Speidel, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David H. (Anne) Freshly of Alliance, OH and Mrs. Francis (Ellen) Matiscik of East Rochester, OH; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. Stark Memorial Salem, OH. Calling hours Sunday 2-4pm at Stark Memorial.
Steve J. Dureska
Steve J. Dureska, age 83, of Canton, passed away Wednesday afternoon after a short ill-ness. A life resident of Canton, he was retired from Canton Drop Forge, where he was employed as a Turning Impression Die Sinker for over 40 years. He also worked for many years at Fisher's Foods on W. Tuscarawas St. A 1935 graduate of Canton McKinley High School, Steve joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Mobile in the Pacific Theater and took part in the liberation of British troops from Japan at the conclusion of the war. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Slovak Catholic Sokol Branch #180 and a past member of Central Catholic Booster Club and the Canton K of C. An avid golfer who achieved a hole in one, he took an avid interest in the sports activities of his grandchildren. Steve was affectionately referred to as Fox by those close to him. Preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Agnes Dureska, brothers, John and Harry. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Dolhun) Dureska, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on May 27, 2001; daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Bill Lahey of St. Louis, MO; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Peter and Patti Dureska of Quincy, IL, Dave and Laura Dureska of Canton; grandchildren, Seann Lahey. Nicole Lahey, Melissa, Geoffrey, Michael Dureska, Ryan, Jason, Kyle Dureska; sister, Ann Dureska of Canton; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Dureska of Canton; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday (tonight) 7-9 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home and one hour before Mass on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. in the church. The Catholic Sokol's will hold a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Dureska's name to the St. Joan of Arc Building Fund or the Central Catholic Stadium Fund.
