Arline D. Hostetler
Arline D. Hostetler, age 86, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001, at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville. She was born in Henry County, Iowa, June 16, 1915, to the late Jonathan and Laura (Liechty) Conrad. She was a graduate of Malone College. Arline was a member of the Beech Mennonite Church in Louisville, where she was a Church Librarian for 35 years. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Fairhope Elementary School for 21 years. She is survived by her husband, Garrison, to whom she was married 54 years; a daughter, Sheila Hostetler of St. Louis, MO; a son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Sue Hostetler of Lynchburg, VA; three grandchildren, Libby Hostetler of Roselle Park, NJ, Tim and Daniel Hostetler of Lynchburg, VA. She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Beech Mennonite Church in Louisville with Rev. Ron Blough officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville and one hour before services on Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Beech Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Beech Mennonite Church Library Fund.

Cozzetta M. Bible
Cozzetta M. Bible. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Michael L. Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home Sunday 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Smith Avenue SW, Canton, OH 44706.

Donna M. Hammond
Donna M. Hammond, age 66, of Canton passed away Friday morning, June 22, 2001 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Sommerset, OH., October 21, 1934 to her parents, the late Paul and Rose Ann (Geiger) Ritz, she lived most of her life in Canton area. Mrs. Hammond was a retired teacher from Canton City School System where she had been the Cosmetology teacher for 25 years at Timken Senior High School. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by infant daughter, Heidi; and her sister, Roberta Haas. Survivors include her husband, James (Don) Hammond of the home to whom she was married 43 years; four children and their spouses, Vicki Lynn and Steven Ickes of North Canton, OH., Michael Paul Hammond of Canton, OH., William Harold and Debra Hammond of Canton; her brother, Paul Ritz Jr., of Canton, OH. There are five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 1:30 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur E. Bliese officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Monday 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Helen A. Scredon
Helen A. Scredon, age 72, of Canton, died Friday in the Inn at Belden Village. She was a life resident of Canton and a 1946 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. Helen was a self-employed interior designer. She was a member of St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Canton, and the Ohio Design Society. Preceded in death by her husband, John N. Scredon, who died in 1991. Survived by two daughters, Sandra Williams of Canton and Sheila Montoya of Albuquerque, NM; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Marcia Scredon of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Christopher Joseph and Laura Elizabeth Scredon, and Joshua and Samuel Williams; her mother, Mary Byrd of Canton; three sisters, Dorothy France and Judy Kotagides of Canton, and Mitzie Feielin of Wilmington, NC; and two brothers, John Namciu of Mentor, OH and Howard Byrd of Canton. The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Samayoa officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 6-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. The body will lie in state for one hour before the funeral at the church on Monday. There will be a Saracusta Service Sunday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aultman Hospice.

John C. Welsch
Rev. John C. Welsch. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Most Reverend Thomas J. Toban, Bishop of Youngstown, Monday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Columba Cathedral, for Rev. John C. Welsch, pastor emeritus of Saint Mary Parish, Conneaut, OH, who died Thursday afternoon at Beeghly Oaks. Father Welsch was born September 1, 1921 in Youngstown, OH, son of George A. and Elizabeth Cregan Welsch. He attended St. Patrick School, Youngstown, and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1939. He continued his education at St. Joseph College in Collegeville, IN and Saint Mary Seminary, Cleveland. He was ordained on December 21, 1946 by Bishop James McFadden. Following ordination, Father Welsch served as associate pastor at St. Joseph Parish, Canton. Later he was named administrator and then pastor of St. Bernadette Parish, Masury. In 1965 he became pastor of Assumption Parish, Geneva and in 1968 he was named pastor of St. Paul Parish, North Canton. In 1973 he became pastor of St. Mary Parish, Conneaut until his retirement on July 1, 1986. Father Welsch served as Chaplain to many councils of the Knights of Columbus in the Diocese of Youngstown and he served as Deanery Senator on the former Senate of Priests and also served on the Priests Personnel Board. He was also active as Spiritual Director at Canton Central Catholic High School during the 1960's and served on term on the Diocesan Board of Education. Father Welsch is survived by his brother, Donald E. Welsch, nine nieces and nephews, A brother, George A. Welsch is deceased. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 24, 4-8 p.m. at McVean Hughes Funeral Home and Monday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Columba. Family requests memorial contributions may be sent to St. Patrick Church in Youngstown.

John Frank Jr.
John (Jack) Frank Jr. died Wednesday June 20, 2001 at Massillon Community Hospital after a sudden illness. Mr. Frank was born in Navarre on February 18,1924 to the parents of John and Rose (Loudina) Frank and was a life resident of Massillon/Navarre area, he was employed by Eaton Reliance Co. as a inspector for 53 yrs retiring in July of 1989, John was a Army Veteran of World War II, member of St. Mary's Parish, and Massillon Eagles Aerie #190. Survivors include, wife of 52 yrs, Jennie (Kolek) Frank, two daughters, Christine (Frank) Paul of Canton, and Jacqueline R. Frank of Massillon; three sisters, Virginia Hammond, Joanne Popovich, and Sally Frank, all of Navarre, OH, two grandsons, Matthew Paul of Kent, OH, and Brian Paul, of Canton, OH and one great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose (Loudiana) Frank, one brother, Ernie Frank, and two sisters, Millie Luckering, and Florence (Nanny) Heater. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 25, 2001, at St. Mary Parish at 10:00 a.m. with interment in Calvary Cemetery in Perry Twp. Calling hours will be on Sunday June 24, 2001 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to Heitger Funeral Service Massillon Chapel, their will be a scriptural service during the evening hours on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Parish, 726 First St NE, Massilon, OH 44646.

Joseph S. Ladson
Joseph S. Ladson, age 33, of Massillon, OH, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning following an extended illness at Akron General Hospital. Born in Canton, on Dec. 20, 1967, to John E. and Gwen (Williams) Ladson. He leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle Mikki (Vega) Ladson of the home; two daughters, Sarah and Rachel, both of the home; stepmother, Lora Ladson of Canton; one brother, John Breeze Ladson II of Canton; stepbrother, Donnell Stevenson of Canton; mother-in-law, Helen Vega of Alliance; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Robin Vega and their children, Zyler and Arin of Alliance. Funeral services will be conducted at the Reed Funeral Home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roger Alber officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday 5-7 p.m.

M. Jane Hill
M. Jane (Bachtel) Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister John Hampton officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before services on Saturday 12:30-1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canton Christian Home or the First Christian Church of Canton.

Mary Jane Lewton
Mary Jane (Baum) Lewton, age 84, of Waynesburg, OH, passed away suddenly Friday morning at the home. Born in Waynesburg on Feb. 25, 1917, she was a retired secretary, having been at both the Waynesburg High School and Sandy Valley High School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Her husband, Kenneth Lewton, preceded her in death, passing away in 1983 and two brothers, James and Paul Baum and a sister, Catherine Limbacher, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Lee B. Lewton of Waynesburg and Ned I. Lewton of North Industry; a sister, Elizabeth Geers of Canton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours or services. Her wishes were to be cremated and the Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Centenary Youth College Fund, c/o Centenary United Methodist Church.

Mona B. May
Mona B. May, age 79, of Canton, OH, passed away Thursday morning in the Manor Care Health Services following an extended illness. Born in Canton on April 8, 1922, she was a former real estate agent, owning and operating the May Co. in Canton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. May, who passed away January 5, 1968 and her daughter, Connie Rosier, who passed away in 1989. Survivors include two grandchildren, Sherri Beadnell of Canton and David Rosier of Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Mike and Stephanie Beadnell. There will be no calling hours or services. Her wishes were to be cremated and her cremains will be buried in the Union Cemetery in Louisville. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Alverta Harter Vukich
Mrs. Alverta Harter Vukich, age 62, of Charlotte, died Friday June 22, 2001 at Carolina Medical Center. Born in Louisville, OH, October 5, 1938, she was daughter of the late Leroy Fredrick Harter and Mildred Speck Harter. Survivors include her husband, Donald Palmer Vukick; son, Donald William Vukich of Charlotte; daughters, Anna Privett and Betty Matthews of Maiden, Kim Mattic of Mooresville, Karen Nicholas of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathy Marez of Huntersville; brothers, Clarence Harter and Lee Harter of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24th at Raymer Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. at Raymer Funeral home in Huntersville. Memorials may be made to American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-0990.

P. Kenneth 'Kenny' Gallatin
P. Kenneth 'Kenny' Gallatin, age 80, of Massillon, died June 22, 2001 following a lengthy illness. He was born August 8, 1920 in Massillon , son of the late Arthur and Bessie (Bosch) Gallatin. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Massillon for 45 yrs. and was head usher for 25 yrs. He was a machinist at the Bowdil Company where he worked for 36 yrs. and retired in 1981. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army, 330th Infantry under General Patton at Normandy. He received a Purple Heart, a bronze star, and was a P.O.W. He is survived by his wife Natalia (Schutz) Gallatin, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy K. and Tyke Bixler of Massillon with whom he lived, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. and Karen Gallatin of Phoenix, brother and sister-in-law Chester and Carolyn Gallatin of Massillon, sister and brother-in-law Doris and Robert Heitger of Massillon, granddaughter and her husband Tammy and Jay Zalesinsky of Massillon, and grandchildren Christopher, Natalie Joy, and Gabriel Gallatin of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Arthur, Russell and an infant brother. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 25, at 1 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Service, Massillon Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Massillon.

Thomas D. Williams
Thomas D. Williams, born April 6, 1935, went home to be with the Lord on Wed., June 20, 2001. Tom was the Business Manager of Classic Bowl, also the owner of Triple Play Sports Cards. Tom resided in Canton and recently in New Philadelphia. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Indians fan. Tom will be greatly missed wife, Bonnie; and his children, Thomas, Jr., John, William (Billy) Duncan (Eric), Debbie, Pagan, David, Dwight Doug, Eric, Heather and Kevin; 18 loving grandchildren; and numerous family and friends. A Memorial gathering will be held Sunday June 24, 2001 from 1-6 p.m. at the United Gospel Tabernacle, 1900 Stark Ave SW, Canton, OH.
