Aaron Davis, Jr.
Aaron Pappy Davis, Jr., age 72, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday afternoon in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Clay County, WV and had been a Waynesburg resident 35 years. He was a retired employee of Winters Industries and was a member of the United Community Church in Malvern. Preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Survived by his wife, Geneva Davis; two daughters and son-in-law, Jan and Jeff Myers of Waynesburg, Kelly Davis of Canton; one brother, Hollie Davis of Waynesburg; three grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Bruce Moses officiating. Interment in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m.

Dr. Harold E. Hartland, DDS
Dr. Harold E. Hartland, DDS, age 83, of Canton, died Monday, June 25, 2001, in Aultman Hospital. He was born in McKeesport, PA, on May 9, 1918 and was the son of the late, Harry and Bertha (Cheshire) Hartland. Dr. Hartland was a graduate from Massillon Washington High School and from Western Reserve Dental School where he received his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He entered the U.S. Army as a Dental Officer in World War II and was a paratrooper of the 325th Glider Infantry of the 82nd Airborne Division. His decorations included; Presidential Citation, Order of Holland, Belgium Fouragere and he earned the Bronze Star, Combat Medical Badge, Glider Pin and ROA Medal with 2 clusters. He retired from the Army as a Lt. Colonial and was assigned to the 350th Evacuation Hospital of Canton where he was called back into the service for one year in 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. He was a life member of the ROA and TROA. Dr. Hartland was past president and life member of the Stark County Dental Society, Ohio Dental Society and American Dental Society; his Dental Honors include Member 2000 Charter Class of John Wible Award - Distinguished Dental Service Academy of Stark County Dental Society, Received Humanitarian Award from Ohio Dental Association in 1991. Did Volunteer Dental work for St. Luke Lutheran Home for four years and at the Margaret Shipley Center and present time was a volunteer at the Veterans Medical Clinic. A 50 year member of Trinity Lodge 710 F AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Nazir Grotto, Tadmor Shrine where he was past president of the Drum Bugle Corp., Canton Shrine Club and Canton Retired Executives and Professional Men's Club. He was a 50+ years member of Christ Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, trustee, and on many committees. Dr. Hartland was treasurer of Burgundy Bay Association over 16 years where he had a cottage on Middle Bass Island in Lake Erie. Preceded in death by his infant son, Paul Hartland. Survived by his wife, Jo Hartland; son, Scott H. Hartland of Ft. Collins, CO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Gregory Hicks of Dublin, OH, and Mary Jo and David Tuttle of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Michael and Anna Marie Hicks and Caroline Mullis; and brother, Robert Hartland of Mansfield, OH. Memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Christ Presbyterian Church with Mr. Richard Barnard and Rev. Douglas A. Patton officiating. Interment will precede the service in the church. Family will receive friends following the service, there are no calling hours. Elinor F. Thompson
Elinor F. Thompson, age 86, of Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar, OH died Monday, June 25, 2001 following a long illness. She was a Bolivar resident most of her life. She was born June 25, 1915 in Bolivar, OH to the late, Earl D. and Jean L. (McWilliams) Fisher. She was a graduate of Bolivar High School in 1933 and Wittenberg University in 1937. She was a retired high school teacher. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bolivar, OH. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Thompson in 1983, two brothers , Earl M. James H. Fisher; two sisters, Ruth F. Pfau and Mary E. Fisher. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. Robin Thompson of Memphis, TN and granddaughter, Emily Rachel of the home; sisters, Jean M. Eberly, of Pittsburg, PA and Annabel F. Mindling, of Miamsburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bolivar, OH at 10.00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2001. Family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 to the time of service with Rev. Frank Diltz, age 86, of Minerva, died Monday< June 25, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 10, 1915 in Carlington, PA to Frank and Ethel Diltz. He was an employee of the Farm Bureau - Landmark, a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church, former board member for the Central Trust Co. and also sold Pike Mutual Insurance. Survived by his wife, Gladys (VanFossen) Diltz whom he married March 7, 1936; daughter, Mrs. Gene (JoAnn) Clapper of Minerva. Calling hours will be Wednesday at 1-2 p.m. at the Gotschall -Hutchison Funeral Home, Minerva. Private family services will be held at Gotschall- Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Burial will be Liberty Cemetery.

Leo D. Wells
Leo D. Wells, age 73, of North Canton, passed away in his residence on June 23, 2001 following a short illness. He was born in Marietta, OH., on December 7, 1927. He retired from Bloom Kline and worked for the Canton City Schools until 1989. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was a member of the North Canton Elks Lodge #2029 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Laura L. Wells. Leo will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wells; daughters, Elizabeth Jean (Harold) Spear of Canton, Kathy Lee (Robert Perry) Brelish, Carolyn S. (Rick) Lindenberger all of Masillon; sons, William Scott Wells of Gurnee, IL., Michael D. (Cindee) Wells of Louisville, Jon C. (Noelle) Melnichenko of Canton; grandchildren, Stacey Hurdt, Pamela Scholp, Penny Spear, Susan and James Lindenberger, Erin Smith, Rebecca Wells, Benjamin, Jonelle, Jon, Kyle and Casey Melnichenko, Leah Wells; great grandchildren, Allison and Steven Smith; brothers, Edward and Harry Wells; sisters, Helen Mets, Elaine White, Eloise Myers. It was Leo's wish to be cremated. A family service has been held with Rev. Doug Patton officiating. We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy. Nicola Bagnoli
Nicola Bagnoli, age 81, of North Canton, passed away Monday morning in Aultman Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born in Fossalto, Italy, he served in the Italian Army During World War II, and was a prisoner of war in Germany for five years. After the war he went back to Italy to work on the family farm. In 1960 he went back to Germany to work in the textile mills for nine years before coming to Canton with his family in 1969. He was retired from the Hoover Co. and prior to that he had been employed at Stark County Engineer's Dept., Bagnolo Cement Contractor and Canton Container. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, United Fossaltese Club and Sons of Italy Ben V. Marconi Lodge #1628. He is survived by his wife, Mariannina (Bagnolo) Bagnoli with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Giovanni and Barbara Bagnoli of North Canton, Enzo and Brenda Bagnoli of Louisville; three grandchildren, Nicola, Matthew and Marciano Bagnoli; two brothers, Pietro and Pasquale Bagnoli in Italy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Niocoletta Fierro. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Kevin L. Fete as celebrant. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wedneday from 6-9 p. in the Rossi Funeral Home where the United Fossaltese Club will hold services at 8 p.m. and Sons of Italy Lodge at 8:30 p.m.
Ralph D. Lauper
Ralph D. Lauper, age 84, died unexpectedly Monday in Aultman Hospital. He was retired from Republic Steel in 1978 after 39 1/2 years of service and was a member of First Christian Church of Canton. Survived by his wife of 62 years, M. Lucille (Pasco) Lauper of the home; daughter, Sandra Mae Naetzel of California; son, Robert Allen Lauper of Green; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Karlo Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Robert L. Marks, age 72, Massillon, OH, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001 in Cleveland Clinic after short illness. Born March 15, 1929 in Massillon, OH, and was a life resident of the area. Mr. Marks was self-employed as an accountant for 46 years as Robert L. Marks, CPA. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Massillon Elks Lodge #441, and Ohio Society of CPA's. He also enjoyed gardening. Preceded in death by parents, Bruce and Orpha B. (Slayman) Marks; brothers, Clifford, Dale and Dean Marks; and sister, Kathryn G. Emery. Survived by wife, Rita I. (Siffrin) Marks to whom he was married 46 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Gardner of Massillon, OH, Katherine and William Pederson of North Canton, OH, Amy and Antonio Maricocchi of Loveland, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Robert B. and Christine Marks of Massillon, OH; sister, Mrs. Marjorie Wolf of North Canton; grandchildren, Andrew and Michelle Marks, Nicholas Gardner, Frances, Gillian and Maris Pederson, Katrina, R+icocchi. William H. Haskel
William H. Haskel Hack Tucker, age 89, of Uniontown, passed away on Sunday June 24, 2001. He was born in Carroll County, TN on April 21, 1912 to the late William L. Iva (Hudson) Tucker. He moved to Akron from Tennessee in 1940 and was a retired Tow Motor Operator for Goodrich, retiring after 35 years of service. He attended Faith Baptist Church where his son is Pastor. Preceded in death by his wife, Cloie Ailene Tucker on March 12, 1996; a grandson, Michael; son-in-law, Denver; a great-grandson, Jack; two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his daughters, Iva Jean Craddock of Barberton, and Anna Lee Tucker of Akron; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. William John Connie Tucker of Uniontown; sister, Juanita Mizell of Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Newell Florene Tucker of North Olmsted; and sister-in-law and spouse, Estelle Wallace Chandler of Gary, IN; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may call one and a half hours prior to services 10:30 AM-noon Wednesday in the Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home with Rev.
