Anthony Pete Yacklin, Jr.
Anthony Pete Yacklin, Jr., age 68, of Paris, died Sunday evening in the Alliance Community Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born January 19, 1933 in Akron to Anthony and Lula (Stout) Yacklin, Sr. He worked in the meat department at Giant Eagle in Alliance and has formerly worked for Colfor Colmach in Malvern, Dyneer Mercury Products in Canton and Baxter Tube in Minerva. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Scott) Yacklin, whom he married June 29, 1958; a daughter, Belinda Yacklin of Minerva; two sons, Allen Yacklin of Paris and Randy Yacklin of the home; a sister, Mrs. Earl (Shirley) Tolley of Louisville; a brother, William Yacklin; two grandchildren, Adam Yacklin of Minerva and Melissa Yacklin of Bowling Green. He is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jefferies and two brothers, Henry and George Jake Yacklin. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Eric Pasanchin officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens in Minerva. Bernadette Steiner
Bernadette A. Steiner, age 80, of North Canton, died Tuesday in her home. She was a life resident of the Canton-N. Canton area, was a 1939 graduate of McKinley High School. She was retired from the Hoover Co. Bernadette was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in N. Canton and the Hoover Retirees. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Steiner, who died in 1963; two brothers, Jack and Thomas Carroll; three sisters, Mary Berring, Dorothy Carroll and Rita Quinn. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church in N. Canton, with Msgr. James Clarke as celebrant. Billy Joe Barnett
Billy Joe Barnett, age 63, of Minerva, passed away March 21, 2001 in Aultman Hospital. He lived in the Canton and Minerva area for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Minerva Eagles Lodge. Preceded in death by his father, Dewey Clayton; a brother and sister. He is survived by two sons, Billy, Jr. of Canton and Shane of Minerva; daughter, Yvonne Miller of Carrollton; four brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Berta Mae Barnett of Cordova, AL; special friend, Sandy Thomas of Homesworth. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Calvary Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Morgan officiating. The Earl B. Jack Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangement.
Clarence Woodbury
Clarence E. Larry Woodbury, age 91, of Canton, died Monday in Aultman Hospital. Born in Hebron, Illinois, he had been a Canton resident since 1975, moving here from Akron. He retired in 1975 from the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. after 47 years of service. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Woodbury; and his second wife, Patsy C. Woodbury. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Rhodes of Akron; and a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Elsie Woodbury of Rockport, TX. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Rev. C. David Morgan officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Aultman Hospice or The American Heart Association.
Donald R. Bowman
Donald R. Bowman, age 61, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, March 27, 2001 in the residence following an apparent heart attack. Born in Canton, OH, September 28, 1939 to his parents the late Donald I. and Margaret Bowman, he was a retired employee of Ford Motor Co., retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. Mr. Bowman was a member of AMVETS and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cammie Jo Bowman, January 12, 1970. Survivors include his wife, Sandy (Reigle) Bowman of the home to whom he would have been married 40 years, November 2001; two sons and their spouses, Donald and Pat Bowman of Louisville, OH, Todd Bowman and Renee of Canton, OH: his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ronald Allen of Canton; his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Henry Houst of West Palm Coast, FL; six grandchildren, Joshua and Heather Kirby, Mathew Bowman, Shawn and Miranda Bowman, Morgan Allen; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12 noon in the Reed Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Henniger officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Francesco Borsellino
Francesco Borsellino, age 70, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Cattolica, Eraclea, Sicily, a son of the late Domenico and Guiseppina Lucia Borsellino, came to the United States at the age of 39, and had been a Waynesburg resident since 1970. He retired in 1984 from Whitacre-Greer Fireproofing Co., after 14 years service, where he was a brick handler. Since 1990, he has owned Hooch's Bar in Waynesburg. Mr. Borsellino was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg. Preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Borsellino. Survived by his wife, Zina (Randisi) Borsellino, with whom he celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 13, 2000; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey and Sue Borsellino and Giovanni Hooch and Liz Borsellino all of Waynesburg, Filippo and Christina Borsellino, of Massillon; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Joanne Borsellino, of Canton, and Joe Borsellino, of Youngstown; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Giuseppe and Elena Randisi, of Canton; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Michael D. Seifert as celebrant. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Francesco had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. His family was everything to him and he greatly enjoyed the time he spent at Hooch's. It was there
he made many friends because he genuinely cared for
everyone. He will always be loved and sadly missed.

Francisca M. (Vitale) Barbera, age 89, of Canton, passed away Tuesday evening in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. She was a life resident of Canton. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cono Barbera who passed away on Oct. 11, 1979; her parents, Leon and Francisca (Pidala) Vitale; two brothers, Joseph and Leo Vitale; four sisters, Rose Vitale, Jennie Norcia, Mary Marsh and Victoria Vitale. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Barbera of Southern Pines, NC, Leo and Farley Barbera of Southern Pines, NC, Jim and Fran Barbera of Canton with whom she made her home; three daughters and son-in-law, Cona Mayle of Canton, Fran and Walt Regiec of Canton, Jo Johnson of North Canton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Cleo Vitale of Canton, Anthony and Jeanette Vitale of Canton; two sisters and brother-in-law, Josephine Dicola of Canton, Clara and Sam Purses of Canton; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be sung Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church with Rev. Fr. John Zuzik and Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Irene Stier, age 93, of Alliance, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2001, in the St. Joseph Care Center, Louisville. She was born in Canton, OH, August 26, 1907, to the late Edward and Elva (Hert) Lutz. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher from the Marlington School System. A member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ in Alliance and Eastern Star #296 of Alliance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1993. Survived by a brother-in-law, Ben Watkins of Louisville; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Elliston, KY, June 8, 1920 to the late Voyle and Clara (Browning) Franks. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was retired from Conrail after 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jodie Franks of Jacksonville, FL; a granddaughter, Melanie; and two great-grandchildren; five sisters; and one brother. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband Jerry, in the operation of the Dellroy Market where she was Secretary/Treasurer. She was born May 11, 1946, in Salem, OH., and was raised in New Garden, OH., and was the daughter of Elsie Hoopes Gamble of Hanoverton, OH., and the late Alfred Gamble. Marie attended the Christ Community Church at Dellroy. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Haynam, whom she married July 3, 1965; one daughter and two sons, Jill Schaar of Sherrodsville, Eric (Samantha) Haynam of Dover, and Aaron Haynam of Columbus; one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Joyce Wharton of Damascus, OH., Jay (Judy) Gamble of Winona, OH., and Wayne (Karen) Gamble of Hanoverton; two grandchildren, Drew and Olivia Schaar of Sherrodsville; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Hayman Kidder of Minerva; and several nieces and nephews who were very special to her. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Wendy Dean-Haynam who was killed March 31 , 2000. Marjorie R. Swigert, age 84, of Canton, OH, passed away Wednesday morning in the Hanover House following an extended illness. Born in Reedurban on September 14, 1916, she was a former employee of Republic Stamping and Enameling Co. She was a member of the Reedurban Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of AARP and Autumn Leaves. She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Mary J. Swigert. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. and Helen-Gene Swigert of Canton; two nephews, John L. Swigert and Robert L. Swigert; and nieces, Bonnie L. Ehmer. Member of William McKinley Lodge #431 F AM, and Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. Also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #141 where he had formerly served as president and secretary. Survived by his wife, Verla (Wise) Riley; a daughter, Jacqueline Slabaugh of Canton; two grandsons, Troy Slabaugh of Canton, Neil and wife Patti Slabaugh of Massillon. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Rust, Betty Lavine, and Sue Ault; five brothers, Al, Rex, Bill, Don, and Earl Riley. Pat M. Bentley, age 77, of East Canton, died Tuesday morning in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Son of the late Harry and Birdie (Fannin) Bentley. He was a Canton and Minerva area resident since 1966, prior to which he had resided in Logan County, WV. Retired from the United Mine Workers in 1965 after 20 years of service. Member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Waynesburg, where he served as an associate minister and Sunday school teacher for a number of years. He greatly enjoyed wood working. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie (Dempsey) Bentley in 1991; four sisters; two brothers. Survived by his wife, Helen J. (Passmore) Barrett Bentley, to whom he was married nine and one half years; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Judy Bentley of Minerva, Patrick and Carol Bentley of Carrollton, Preston and Paula Bentley of Robertsville, Michael Bentley of New Philadelphia, OH; one daughter, Constance Bentley of Minerva; five stepsons and spouses, Kenneth and Ellen Barrett of Canton, Frank and Betty Barrett of Tennessee, James and Cheri Barrett of North Carolina, Roger and Debbie Barrett, Richard and Kathy Barrett, all of Louisville; one stepdaughter and spouse, Vera and Robert Roberts of Robertsville, OH; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert and Florence Bentley of Wellsville, OH, Tom Bentley of Florida. Seth Wade Yanko, age 29, beloved son of Denise M. Brooks and David P. Yanko, passed away unexpectedly March 25, 2001 in his Columbus, OH home. Seth was born in Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH, August 10, 1971. He was currently residing in Columbus. He graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton 1990 and attended University of Cincinnati for several years. He will be remembered for his great passions, love of sports, especially golf and soccer as well as other outdoor activities, his drive and diligence toward pursuing his dreams and most of all, his kindness, gentleness, and good heart. He will be missed more than words can say. He is survived by his mother, Denise M. Brooks of Richland, WA; father, David P. Yanko of Dayton, OH; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin H. Brooks of Canton; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Fred Griel of North Canton; his fiancee, Ms. Stefanie Fredrick of Columbus; numerous other family and friends.
