Angelo John Davis
Angelo John (Efanti) Davis, age 35, of Wilmot, OH, passed away suddenly from injuries received in a one car accident early Thursday morning. The coroners office will rule on the cause of death. He was a life resident of Canton. He was of Catholic faith. He was a graduate of Timken High School in 1983. He presently was employed at Auto Electric as a machinist for the past six years. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Lash) Davis; three children, Ashley, Alex and Amber, all of the home; his parents, Walter and Annie (Efanti) Davis of Canton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela and Donald Furney of Canton, Annie and Christopher Ratay of North Canton. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Charles C. Reed
Charles C. Reed, age 64, of East Sparta, died Thursday afternoon at Doctors Hospital following complications of lung cancer. He was retired from Consolidated Freightways with 45 years of service. Member of Teamsters Local #92 and the Adoniram Lodge #514 F. A.M. in Akron. Preceded in death by a son, Chuck Reed, in 1989; his parents, Claude and Charlotte Reed; a sister, Joyce Clark; a brother, Walter Reed. Survived by his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Vicki Jacoby and her friend, Fred Jones of East Sparta, Linda and her husband, Joel Kent of Canton, Kathy and her husband, Bob Welling of Navarre; five granddaughters; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Donald J. Kohl Jr.
Donald J. Kohl Jr., age 55, of Canton, died Friday in Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born in Massillon, he was a life resident of Stark County. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Kent State University. Since 1972 he had been employed by the Hoover Co., where he was a Budget Analyst Principal. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Don was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he sang with the Gallery Choir and was a member of the Organ Renovation Committee. Survived by his mother, Betty (Ray) Gankoski, of Canton; three sisters; and two brothers-in-law, Betsy and Paul Carver of Perry Twp., Susan and Jack Straughn of Jackson Twp., and Roberta Gankoski of Columbus, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Laurie Gankoski of Hartville; a niece, Kelsey Gankoski; five nephews, Brian, Todd and Marc Carver, John Straughn and Riley Gankoski; and his extended family. The members of St. John's Choir. Preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Kohl Sr.; and his step father, George S. Gankoski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in St. John The Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Klinger as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Donald R. Campbell
Donald Ray Campbell, 62, of Malvern died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Alliance Community Hospital, following a long illness. Born in Louisville, AR, June 27, 1938 the son of the late Henry M. and Mary Jewell (Magbee) Campbell. He was employed as a truck driver at Foster's Trucking, Kensington. Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; stepson, Allen Irwin of Malvern; son, Darren Campbell of Wooster; daughter, Lana Lesly of Texas; brothers, James Campbell of Bloomfield and Lynn Campbell of Louisville, AR; sisters, Emma Wainwright of Story, AR, Virginia Powell of Plain Dealing, LA, Margie Kaiser and Rennie Clark both of Hope, AR; nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, John Campbell. Funeral services will be held in the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern at 11 a.m. Monday. April 2, 2001 with Mr. Eric Crites officiating. E. Idell Teynor
E. Idell Teynor, 79, of Dover, Ohio, died March 29, 2001, in her home following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Art) Teynor. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Teynor of Dover; and Tim (Terri) Teynor of Canton; along with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Chur-ch at Dover with interment in the Calvary Cemetery. Hilda Rosa Grisez
Hilda Rosa Grisez, age 92, of Canton, died Wednesday in the Canton Regency. Born in Morges, OH, she had been a Canton resident since 1942, moving here from Louisville. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, the Columbus Womens Club, and the AARP. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Grisez, who died in 1991 and a grandson, Scott Gray. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Ann Grisez of Canton; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia A. Farwick, and Arlene L. and Dennis Fox, all of Canton, Theresa C. Spencer of North Canton, Carol E. and Donald Gray of Apopka, FL, and Barbara M. and Kenneth Saunier of Marietta, GA; a cousin, Lorena Motter of Canton; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter. Irene F. Randels
Irene F. Randels, age 89, of Canton, passed away Friday morning, March 30, 2001, in the Canton Christian Home following an extended illness. Born in Navarre, OH, January 20, 1912 to her parents the late Lloyd E. and Edith M. (Poorman) Rowe, she lived most of her life in the Canton area. Mrs. Randels was a former school teacher in the Massillon City Schools and the Canton Public School Systems. She was a member of First Christian Church, Dorcas Class and the Stark County Retired Teacher's Association. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Malvern W. Randels in 1985 and her brother, Clyde Rowe. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Edith M. and Peter Q. Rich of Toms River, NJ, Sharon and Thomas S. Toomey of North Canton, OH; grandchildren, Catherine L. Latshaw of Toms River, NJ, David Q. Rich of Boston, MA, Brian Toomey of Raleigh, NC; and one brother-in-law, Ray F. Randals. James W. Strader
James W. Strader, age 77 of Massillon, OH, passed away Thursday evening, March 29, 2001 in Aultman Hospital following a one month illness. Born in Adrian, WV, December 8, 1923 to his parents the late Oval and Catherine (Rinehart) Strader, he lived most of his life in the Canton-Massillon area and was a retired employee Republic Steel, retiring August 31, 1981 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Perry Heights and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Shaffer) Strader of the home to whom he would have been married 48 years, June 24, 2001; his daughter, Terri L. Strader of Louisville, OH; three sons and daughters-in-law, Fenton J. Strader of Dover, OH, James W. Strader II and Lorie Strader of Kensington, OH, Daryl L. and Dara Strader of Bolivar, OH; two sister, Ernestine Parker of Canton, Doris Roush of East Sparta, OH; two brothers, Arlie Lee Strader and Charles Strader both of Richville, OH. There are eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 1:00 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. James Zimmerman officiating. Jean M. Gusky
Jean M. Gusky (nee Roush) died in Benicia, California on Wed., March 28th at the age of 81. She is survived by sister, Polly Hahn of Canton, Ohio sons, Jan Gusky of Canton, Ohio, and Mark Gusky of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughters, Gayle J. Hasley of Concord, California, and Debbie Armstrong of Benicia, California; granddaughter, Nicki Giordano; and great-grandson, Damien Giordano of Seminole, Florida. Born May 15, 1919, Jean grew up, married and raised a family in Canton and was a Repository employee along with her late husband, Al Gusky. Jean and Al retired to St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1973 where they made many friends at the Cove Cay Country Club and the Club Chalet in which they lived. After Al's death in 1988 Jean remained in St. Pete and had recently moved to Benicia, California, to be with her daughters and son-in-law. A special Memorial Service will be held in Canton, Ohio in July 2001. Friends and family will be contacted.
Lynda June Willison
Lynda June Willison, age 47, of Minerva, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Aultman Hospital. She was born September 17, 1953 in Canton to Leo and June (Creager) Willison of Minerva. She was a graduate of Minerva High School, a member of Minerva First Christian Church and the Fidelies Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents with whom she resides, she is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Gary Kellogg of Acworth, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Daria Willison and Les and Lois Willison, all of Minerva; ten nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Madelyn B. Alvarez
Madelyn B. Alvarez, age 76, of Macedonia, passed away Friday morning, March 30, 2001. She was born in Germano, OH on October 17, 1924 to the late James Florence (Ingram) Tope and was a graduate of Timken High School. During the 1960's and 70's Madelyn had been Director of the Akron Chapter Sweet Adelines. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. in 1976; daughter, Dixie Alvarez in 1993; and sister Shirley Greene. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dinah Roger Vince of Solon; sons, Daniel and Drake Alvarez both of Macedonia; grandchildren, Dana Michael Kuenzel, Holly Ricker, Kelly Vince, Ryan Vince, Amy Alvarez, Allison Alvarez, Adam Alvarez, Drake Alvarez and Alexander Alvarez; brother and sister-in-law, B.I. Mary C. Patterson
Mary C. Patterson, age 77, of Canton, passed away Friday morning, March 30, 2001 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Mount Savage, MD., December 9, 1923 to her parents the late Charles and Myra (Martz) Snyder, she lived most of her life in the Canton area. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Snyder and Harry Snyder; and her sister, Mae Louise Roby. Survivors include her husband, Carlos Patterson of the home to whom she was married 52 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Edna Patterson of Canton, OH., Robert and Shirley Patterson of Canton, OH., Richard Patterson of Carrolton, OH; her daughter, Elizabeth Patterson of the home; her sister, Eleanor Snyder of Mount Savage, MD; her brothers, George Snyder of Cumberland, MD. Paul J. Schaad
Paul J. Schaad, age 87, of Altercare of Canton, died Thursday morning in Mercy Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Beverly, Ohio, he lived in Canton for over 50 years with his late sister, Margaret A. Schaad. He had been employed at Ewing Chevrolet, and Bob's Diner. In his retirement he was a school safety crossing guard having worked at the corner of 10th and Shorb for 13 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. St. Peter's Holy Name/Men's Club, and St. Peter's Alter and Rosary Society. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. John C. Finnigan as celebrant. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Beverly Cemetery in Beverly, Ohio. Pauline Ann Coates, age 61, of Canton, OH, passed away Friday morning in the Windsor Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Canton on March 26, 1940. She was a retired Administrator with the Stark County Department of Human Services, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. Following her retirement, she and her husband had owned and operated the Coates China and Porcelain Studio in Canton. She was preceded in death by parents, Herman J. and Bertha Shanabruch; stepson, Russ A. Coates. Survivors include her husband, Glenn E. Coates of Amelia, OH; granddaughter, Stacey D. Coates; grandson, Aaron B. Seth Wade Yanko
Seth Wade Yanko, age 29, beloved son of Denise M. Brooks and David P. Yanko, passed away unexpectedly March 26, 2001, in his Columbus, OH home. Seth was born in Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH, August 10, 1971. He was currently residing in Columbus. He graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton 1990, and attended University of Cincinnati for several years. He will be remembered for his great passions, love of sports, especially golf and soccer as well as other outdoor activities, his drive and diligence toward pursuing his dreams and most of all, his kindness, gentleness, and good heart. He will be missed more than words can say. He is survived by his mother, Denise M. Brooks of Richland, WA; father, David P. Yanko of Dayton, OH; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin H. Brooks of Canton; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Fred Griel of North Canton; his fiancee', Ms. Stefanie Frederick of Columbus; numerous other family and fri-ends. His grandfather, Fred Griel preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday (TODAY) at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Walter H. Mills
Walter H. Mills, age 74, of Carrollton, died early Friday morning, March 30, 2001, in Canton's Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. He was born May 4, 1926, in Minerva, son of the late Harry and Olive Davis Mills. Walter was a member of the Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion. He had owned and operated the former Mills Jewelry Store from 1948 until his retirement in 1997. He had a stable of race horses for 20 years and was well known in the racing community. He is survived by his wife, the former Marilynn Mitten, whom he married on June 28, 1947; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Audrey Mills of Willoughby, OH, Randall and Kathy Mills of North Canton; one brother, James R. Mills of Lisbon; half brother, Wayne Mills of Dayton; four sisters, Mrs. Loy (Shirley) Buehler of Carrollton, Doris (Lucy) Mitten of Malvern, Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Wheatley of Minerva, Mrs. Kenneth (Carol) Brown of Creston; two grandchildren, Julie and Brett. Walter is preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Donald. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Wilma Amelia Lloyd
Wilma Amelia Lloyd, age 92 formerly of Canton and more recently of Northfield, MN died Tuesday March 27, 2001 in Northfield Hospital, Northfield, MN. Mrs. Lloyd was born on November 29, 1908 in Canton the daughter of Harry E. and Gertrude (Bourguin) Little. She was raised in Canton where she attended school graduating from McKinley High School in 1926. On February 2, 1929 she was united in marriage to Donald Jae Lloyd in Wellsburg, WV. She was a lifelong member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Chu-rch where she was a member of the church bell choir, work-ed with meals on wheels and assisted in the church nursery for many years. She was a master craftsman as a seamstress, enjoyed knitting and volunteered her skills with her church quilting groups. For over 25 years, Wilma worked at Carm's Market in the meat department. Following the death of Donald on December 30, 1961 she remained in Canton until 1984 at which time she moved to Northfield, MN to be near her son. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald; infant son, Theodore and brothers, Edward, Harry and Thomas Little. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Susan (Wright) Lloyd of Northfield, MN; grandsons, Timothy Lloyd Jr. of Burnsville, MN, Stephen (Rebecca) Lloyd of Princeton, MN; great-grandchildren, Jesse and Austin. There are many nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Ulmer officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
