Donna J. Nixdorf
Donna J. Nixdorf, age 65, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at the residence. A lifetime resident of Canton, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton, Lady Elks Canton Lodge #68, F.O.E. McKinley Aerie #2370 and Loyal Order of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary Canton Lodge #332. Preceded in death by her father, Robert O. Schoeppner. Survived by her husband, Harold G. Nixdorf; two sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Jo Ann Nixdorf of Akron, Eric M. Nixdorf of California; daughter, Debbie A. Fye of Arizona; three grandchildren; mother, Loretta M. Schoeppner of Columbus; sister, Rosemarie Dougherty of Columbus. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Huffman will officiate. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Lung Assoc.
Edna J. Williamson
Edna J. Williamson, age 78, of Canton, OH, passed away suddenly Tuesday at her home. Born in Salineville, OH on November 14, 1922, she had lived the greater portion of her life in the Canton area. She was a retired employee of the Timken Co., retiring in 1975 after 17 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church of Canton and was a member and president of the Loyal Ruth Sunday School Class. For many years, she was an ardent card and bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Williamson who passed away October 22, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vanessa Williamson; her parents, Arthur and Joyce Leek; two brothers, Arthur and Herbert Leek; and a sister, Margaret Peg McRobie. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Russell Fisher of Massillon; her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Karen Williamson of Columbus, OH; grandson and his wife, Michael and Charlotte Fisher of Massillon; and grandson, Matthew Fisher of Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Dana Fisher; her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Orval Hertel of Louisville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister, Manley Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours at the funeral home Friday 5-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Canton.

Helen Drenta. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Samayoa and Fr. John Skala officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday (tonight) 4-8 p.m. in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home, where a Saracusta service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may also call Friday one hour before the services at the church. J.C. Bowling, age 63, of Canton, passed away suddenly at work Tuesday. Services are pending.
Jan Byk
Jan Byk, age 87, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in his home. Born in Lviv, Ukraine he retired from The United Engineering Co. in 1976. He was a member of the Ukrainian Committee and the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Anna in 1990. He is survived by his son, Bohdanus Byk of Canton. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Earl B. Jack Funeral Home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 7-9 p.m.
Jean Davis
Jean Davis, age 82, passed away April 11, 2001. She was born in Cleveland, OH and moved to Phoenix from Canton, OH. She was a valedictorian of Alliance High School in Alliance, OH; a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue of Canton, OH, Temple Chai in Phoenix and Hadassah. She and her husband founded Davis Wholesale Company in Canton, OH, where they worked side-by-side for over 35 years. Survivors include her husband, Herman of 54 years; daughter, Tammy (Dennis) Schuman; son, Marc (Nancy) Davis; and her grandchildren, Jaime, Erica, Jeremy and Adam. Funeral services and interment were held Thursday, April 12th. Shiva will be observed at the home of Tammy and Dennis Schuman. Mary E. Tesch
Mary E. Tesch, age 84, of Canal Fulton, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Doctors Hospital. She was born in Akron on Oct. 3, 1916 she had been a life resident of the Canal Fulton and North Lawrence area and was a 35 year member of the VFW #9795 Auxiliary in Canal Fulton. Preceded in death by husband, Alfred, in 1985; parents, Richard and Verellia (Groves) Matheny; one brother; two sisters; two half brothers. Survived by sons, Don Turner of Massillon, Jerry Turner of Canal Fulton, Bob Tesch of Sherrodsville, Ken Tesch, Ed Tesch and Joe Tesch, all of Canal Fulton, Roger Tesch, Bill Tesch, both of Massillon, Dan Tesch of Orville, Tim Tesch of Kimbolton; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Rev. Timothy Tesch officiating. Burial in Newmans Creek Cemetery, North Lawrence. Visitation at the funeral home, Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services.

Sarah Magdalene King Wentz
Sarah Magdalene King Wentz, age 94, died April 10, 2001 in Columbus, OH. Born in Logansport, Indiana March 2, 1907. Mrs. Wentz was preceded in death by her husband of 65 year Burke Wentz who died on October 16, 1992. Survivors include two sons, William A. (Cynthia) and Thomas K. (Nancy); four grandchildren, Amy, Bradley, William and Pamela. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church where she had been the soprano soloist for the choir. Magdalene was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing the organ. She was also a member of MacDowell Club, Eastern Star, Trirosis, the Canton Woman's Club, and for 25 years a volunteer gray lady at Mercy Medical Center Hospital. A funeral service celebrating her life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday April 13, 2001 in the Chapel of Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. C. David Morgan officiating. A private interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Chancel Choir Fund of Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St. W, Canton, OH 44702.

Valerie J. Tout
Valerie J. (Gedra) Tout, 46, died suddenly while walking with her husband, Larry, April 10, 2001. Valerie was known for her passion for boating and promoting the fellowship and education of boaters. She devoted the past ten years to activities with the Columbus Power Squadron and was commander of the boating organization in 1996. Survived by husband, Larry; son, Jason; mother, Lorene; sisters, Cheryl, Sue, Cindy, and Lisa; many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 2693 W. Board St.

Vera J. Buzzo, age 76, of Canton, died Tuesday after a long illness. Born in London, England, she had been a Canton area resident since 1946. Preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Buzzo, who died in 1982. Survived by two daughters, Marilyn Isla and her fiance, Larry Murray, and Sharon Sergi; a son, Roger E. Buzzo and his fiance, Cathy Deel, all of Canton; six grandchildren, Raymond, Christine and David Isla, Melissa Rundquist, and Brian and Denise Sergi; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Alexis and Michael. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen W. Kimbrel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Frie-nds may call Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Violet M. Mapes, age 83, formerly of Canton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon in Orrville Ohio. Born in Faversham, England she was a member of Pentecostal Assembly Church of God. Preceded in death by her husband Ray Mapes in 1986, son-in-law David Davis; two daughters Shirley and Janet. Survived by one son Les and Deb Mapes; daughters Linda Davis and Barbara (Eddie) Allen; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday 1 p.m. in Eden Cemetery.
