Elizabeth Everhart
Elizabeth Marie \Betty\Everhart, age 77, of Canton, died on Good Friday, April 13, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center after an extended illness. Born April 6, 1924, in Port Washington, OH, to the late Reuben and Elma Glazer. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Port Washington, OH and attended Market Hts. United Church of Christ in Canton. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and three sisters, Ruth, Helen, and June. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Kenneth Seikel of North Canton,; sisters, Mrs. Ruby Brick of Uhrichsville, OH and Mrs. Elmer (Margery) Morrison of New Philadelphia; nieces and nephews. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Sandra K. Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. The family suggests memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Gordon L. Cook, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be sung Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church with Msgr. John Finnigan as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. John G. Karvounides
John G. Karvounides, age 71, of Canton, passed away early Saturday morning in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Grevana, Greece and came to this country in 1967 and resided in the Canton area since that time. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. A member of the Pontian Association. He was a retired employee of Surgardale Provision Co. (Fresh Mart), where he was employed for 17 years as a ham boner. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Kalaitsides) Karvounides with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage on October 31, 2000; three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Anna Karvounides of Akron, OH, Jordan and Argie Karvounides of Akron, Gust Karvounides of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Parthena and Vasili Stamatelopoulos of Canton; four brothers, Anestis, George, Niko, and Lefteris Karvounides, all of Greece; three sisters, Meli, Despina and Parthena Karvounides of Greece; eight grandchildren, Angela, Dina, Yianni G., Anna Lea and Angelica Karvounides, Yianni J. Karvounides, Mihali and Yianni V. Stamathelopoulos. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Parthena Karvounides. Services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Stavropoluos officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Rossi Funeral Home 6-9 p.m. The body will be taken to the church Wednesday, where it will lie in state from 10 till the time of services. There will be a Trisagon Prayer services Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Rudy M. Lapikas
Rudy M. Lapikas, age 85, of Massillon, died Saturday, April 14, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1915 in Sharpsville, PA, the son of the late Simon and Josephine (Brasdovic) Lapikas, and had lived in Massillon most of his life. He retired from the Massillon Post Office in January, 1981 after 32 yrs. as a letter carrier. He had also worked at the Eaton Plant and for Bliss Co. He was a member of Saint Mary Parish, Massillon, K of C Council # 554, 3rd Degree, Eagles #190, V.F.W. # 3124, NACL Branch # 238 and enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the 329th Infantry, 83rd. Division. He was in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He is survived by his son, Larry Lapikas, son Paul Lapikas and his fiancee Rose, and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathy Lapikas all of Massillon, daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Michael Garrett of Massillon, brothers, Miles and James Lapikas of Sharpsville, PA, sister Edna Smith of Sharon, PA, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clotilda (Gresser) Lapikas (died 1981), sisters Pauline Lapikas and Evelyn Zeka, and brothers, Dominic, Steven as well as his brothers, John and Paul Lapikas who lost their lives in WWII. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Saint Mary Parish in Massillon with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, (TONIGHT) at Heitger Funeral Service, Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon, from 5 to 8 PM. There will be a scriptural service during visitation hours and the K of C service at 7 p.m.
