Theodore W. 'Ted' Towstiak
Theodore W. "Ted" Towstiak, 84, of Valrico, Fla., formerly of the Amherst, Fitchville and New London areas, died Tuesday in Brandon, Fla., after a brief illness.
Survivors and arrangements will be announced by the Gerber-Smith Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman.
Donald Edward Taylor
Donald Edward Taylor, 49, of Amherst died Tuesday in Amherst after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born in Fayetteville, W.Va., he lived there until he was 16 years old. He then lived in Cleveland until moving to Vermilion in 1969. He lived in Amherst since 1993.
He was a machinist for Hamilton Casting for the last five years.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and working with small engines.
Survivors include a daughter, Casstina Estep of Heart, W.Va.; a grandson; a brother, Edgar Taylor of Amherst; and sisters Anna Wood of Vermilion, Linda Cody of Amherst and Juanita Nottingham of Oak Hill, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Sandra, in 1993; his parents, Edgar A. and Mary (nee Tincher); and a brother, Leon, in 1992.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Tyree Funeral Home, 999 Jones Ave., Oak Hill, W.Va., where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Robert B. Pauley will officiate.
Burial will be in Bibb Cemetery, Fayetteville, W.Va.

William Arthur Gallovich Sr.
William Arthur Gallovich Sr., 73, of Sheffield Lake died Monday at his home after a long illness.
Born in Lorain, he lived in the Lorain area his entire life.
Mr. Gallovich worked for Carlson Fabrication as a steel fabricator for more than 20 years. He then worked in the maintenance department in Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Schools before retiring in 1992.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Gallovich enjoyed camping and fishing.
Survivors include daughters Terri A. Hall of Sheffield Lake and Pamela Lee Brown of Colorado; sons William Arthur Gallovich Jr. of Lorain and Gregory Allen of Sheffield Lake; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, John M. of Sheffield Lake.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (nee Carlson), in 1988; his parents, John Gallovich and Helen (nee Kosash) Urzsuly; and a sister, Irene Ackley.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, where a prayer service will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake.
The Rev. Stephen Shields, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Ellsworth ‘Buddy’ Johnson
Ellsworth "Buddy" Johnson, 89, of Oberlin died Wednesday at the Elm’s Retirement Village in Wellington following a long illness.
Born in Oberlin, he was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Johnson worked in the maintenance department at Oberlin College for 36 years.
Survivors include his niece, Dorothy of Oberlin, and nephews Harry of Wellington and David and Ernest, both of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Fanny (nee Kimmey); sisters Mildred and Martha; and brothers Bertram and Ernest.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
The Rev. Mark Reynolds will officiate.

Dr. Robert C. Stanbery
Robert C. Stanbery, D.V.M., 53, of Avon Lake died Tuesday at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland after a brief illness.
Born in Conneaut, he was raised in Ashtabula and was a 1965 graduate of Harbor High School. He was a 1971 graduate of the Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus. He moved to Avon Lake in 1974.
Known as "Dr. Bob," he practiced at the Bay Village Animal Clinic for many years. He enjoyed speaking about animal care to local school children and appearing on local television.
Mr. Stanbery was a member of Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, where he taught Sunday school and was active in the church’s Men’s Bible Study.
He also was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the Catholic Storefront in Cleveland.
He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying golf and racquetball.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Connie (nee Coutts); sons Scott of New Hampshire and Mark of Avon Lake.
Mr. Stanbery was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Ruth (nee Miller) Stanbery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road in Avon Lake.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bay Presbyterian Church, 25415 Lake Road in Bay Village.

Nettie Clark
Nettie Clark, 83, of Elyria died Saturday in Palm Crest West Nursing Home, Elyria, following a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Elyria.
Mrs. Clark was self-employed as a beautician in Elyria.
She was a member of the South Park Street Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oberlin.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Nellie Clark, and a sister, Ida Jo Brown.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. today in the South Park Street Seventh Day Adventist Church, 99 S. Park St., Oberlin.

Olive Elizabeth Moore
Olive Elizabeth Moore (nee Friel), 78, of Amherst, died Wednesday at Community Health Partners following a lengthy illness.
Born in Marlinton, W.Va., she lived there until 1946 when she moved to Lorain. She resided in Lorain until moving to Amherst in 1963.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst for over 35 years. She was active as an Awana Leader at church, participated in the Ladies' Missionary Group and helped in the church nursery.
She enjoyed antiques of all kinds, especially antique jewelry.
She had worked numerous retail positions, was a seamstress for Style Center in Elyria and volunteered at Amherst Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn E. Beckett of Amherst; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Joseph Friel of Marlinton, W.Va.; a sister, Audra Thompson of South Charleston, W.Va. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Asa Lee Moore in November 1994; her parents, Page and Mary (nee Kimble) Friel; brother, Ray Carl Friel and sisters, Viola Higgins and Leola Fertig.

Helen G. Pickard
Helen G. Pickard (nee Babson), 91, of Shillington, Pa., formerly of Elyria, died Tuesday at Mifflin Health Center in Reading, Pa., after a brief illness.

Beryl Janet Reynolds Terry
Beryl Janet Reynolds Terry, 84, of Philadelphia, Pa., and a native of Elyria, died Tuesday at Cathedral Village Nursing Home in Philadelphia.
She was the wife of Dr. Luther L. Terry, the late former U.S. Surgeon General who issued the famous 1964 report declaring cigarette smoking a health danger.
Mrs. Terry graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and did graduate work at Case Western Reserve University.
After marrying Dr. Terry in 1940, she lived in Baltimore, Md., until 1953 when she moved to Rockville, Md. After Dr. Terry resigned as surgeon general in 1965, they moved to Philadelphia.
She was involved with many civic functions, including medical fund drives, historic site preservation efforts, beautification projects, contemporary arts programs and fashion endeavors. In 1973, Phyllis Feldcamp, fashion editor of the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, said when those endeavors came up, one of the Terrys was likely to be involved.
Her main interests were historic preservation and the arts, particularly contemporary arts.
Survivors include daughters Janet Terry Kollock of Wyndmoor, Pa.; sons Luther L. Terry of London and Michael D. Terry of Germantown, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Luther L. Terry, in 1985.
A memorial service will be April 3 in Philadelphia. A graveside service will be April 4 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mary Jo Lyons
Mary Jo Lyons, 55, of Burtonville, Md., formerly of Elyria, died Monday at her home of an apparent heart attack.

Clarence C. Friend
Clarence C. Friend, 81, of the Wellington area and Brighton Township, died Tuesday at Community Health Partners in Lorain following a long illness.
He was born in Oakland, Md.
Mr. Friend retired from General Motors in 1979. He was a Navy veteran.
He attended New Life Assembly of God Church in Wellington and was a life member of Wellington VFW Post 6941.
Survivors include a daughter, Joann Smith of Wellington; sons Ronald of Amherst and Clifford of Salisbury, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Motz of Terra Alta, W. Va.; and brothers Stanley of Oakland, Md., and Donnie of Charleston, W. Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brunner and Edith (nee Sines); sisters Ruby and Dorothy; and a brother, Delbert.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Norton Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday.
